Jia He is a worker-bee screenwriter in China, a profession that really does not get much for recognition but suits her personality of not liking to be in the spotlight. One day, she gets a call and finds out who will be the leading actor of her latest script—Yi Wenze, her longtime idol since her teenage days. Jia He is the screenwriter on-location for this project. So, she is there, trying best to maintain her composure and contain her starstruck giddiness in front of her idol. In the process, she happily discovers, some time later, that she has become friends with her idol. Aaaah! Already a dream come true, right? Her time with this project comes to an end, and she bids farewell and returns home, thinking that if some day she runs into Yi Wenze again, they are acquainted enough that they can nod their heads in friendly greeting to one another. But then, soon after, she gets a phone call, and the name that shows up on her caller ID is… Yi Wenze.

And so, this is a story of how a little screenwriter is pursued by her idol, the one who had been in all her teenage dreams, how she goes from being idol’s diehard fan, to idol’s friend, to idol’s girlfriend, to idol’s fiancee, to idol’s… Hehehehe.

I MTL'd this novel, but I'm dropping at c45 because it's just so boring! —You know it's bad if you don't care if the MC stays together or breaks up! :/ I can't figure out why the MC got together; I almost got whiplash from how fast they start dating.
Spoiler

She's his die-hard fan. He got over his burnout by seeing her spend her last few ¥ to buy his poster 10 years earlier.

Like what?! Going after someone because she's your fan is already sketchy, but how did he even know that little girl was her??

[collapse]

Not to mention he clearly wants to go public while she's always trying to hide him away. If this were a real couple, how would he not be hurt by her insensitive behavior? With how shallow their romance is, I was expecting them to break up at any moment.

Plus the plot is painfully underdeveloped. Flashbacks are just tossed in without any effect on the story, transitions to help us move between scenes were totally absent, and plot devices are dropped without resolution.

Spoiler

How did his broken leg not have longer repercussions? Did they forget to go take out her wisdom teeth? These were clearly just used to get the MC together in the same place, but at least add a line or two to finish up.

[collapse]

Overall the idea could be cute, but it's poorly executed. It is obviously an older novel, but it also seems like the author was lacking real-life experience when she wrote it.

She has better novels; this one is a pass.

Okay okay I guess. Read it for fluff. There's no explanation or justification in storyline. ML and MC are fine. ... more>>
Spoiler

But I guess I somewhat got frustrated by MC....I guess it's fine being shy and end up all flustered and messed up about hearing or coming close to ml. She always tries to escape and run away. But after being in relationship for quite a good time, she is still not getting used to his presence like come on he is also a human being in the end, not some God on a temporary visit to mortal realm who would vanish whenever he feels like it.

Very good quality of translation, as expected of Hui3r.

It's fluff and a light read. It's cute too.

The only reason why it's not full stars is because of personal preference.

ML is a celebrity so it was expected that MC will have to share ML with his fans. His time and affection. ML is doting and sweet. But for me, he's too calm and collected. Here we have MC, nervous and anxious, and there ML is nothing but collected. It's nice to a certain extent but it kind of a bit shows... more>> that he's not taking her insecurities seriously. Just a tiny bit. He reassures her but for me it's kind of lacking.

Spoiler

She asks him why he likes her and he just says sweet words and didn't really answer.

During his birthday, MC waited for him and he went home at midnight since he was having a fan meet to celebrate his birthday. Even the cake she brought was redundant since he already ate a lot. Albeit, ML still forced himself to eat but that for me isn't really sweet.

That kind of sharing. Sigh. So hard to have that kind of relationship. They can't even shop together for furniture.

[collapse]

They both try their best in this relationship. But I kind of feel sad with MC of the things she has to endure when you have a celebrity boyfriend. But since she loves him too much, the pros outweigh the cons so all is well

Really though, that's the only thing I'm not really happy about. I guess I'm not into celebrity relationships. <<less

God, MBFB's works are always so very realistic. Despite the fact that the setting is in entertainment circle, MC and ML's interactions are extremely relatable. This kind of slow-paced relationship, MC's inner monologues, her insecurities, all of those are too realistic.

I hate how their interactions reminded me so much of me and my first love....

It makes me feel so lonely and crave another relationship ???

This might possibly be my favorite work from Mo Bao Fei Bao (My Darling is a close second!).

I find the fairytale-like setting of this romance surprisingly deep. For example, the ML has been married before and the couple dealt with it in a very mature manner (conversations about trust etc). The MC also had a past relationship that ended badly.

Although everything is super low-angst and fluffy and almost unbelievably sweet, there are light touches of realism sprinkled throughout that really added a more mature tone and thoughtfulness to the story.... more>> The story didn't need to have a big conflict or deep self-exploration in order to show how the two characters came to understand and encompass each other in their feelings. The gentle steps they each took towards building a future together were just realistic enough without disturbing the sweet tone of the story.

Some of MBFB's other novels (Really Really Miss You) are more youthful/fantasy-like than this one. Other than minor gripes about the epilogue, I like this one the best. Fantastic translator, one of my favorites! <<less

I liked this story a lot. Their relationship did progress more quickly than I think it’s realistic, and there were some moments where the text (or maybe the translation?) made the scene jump so quickly I couldn’t quite understand the progression or what was going on.

Overall, a very nice story, perfect for a day you don’t want to think much.

Just so so. If you ran out of novels to read, you can give this a try tho it really didn't leave a big impact on me. I'm still curious on what happened to the ML and his ex wife. The loopholes (inconsistency) I found was so disappointing. For someone who just divorced his ex wife, he sure fell in love so quickly. And MC is just rather dull, most of the time, she's passive. And also some scenes really just didn't made any sense. I stayed til the end... more>> hoping there will be explanation on the past of the ML and his ex wife. In the end, his ex wife was just actually a cannon fodder. Lol <<less

I imagine Yi Wenze as Ren Tsuruga from Skip Beat as they're both handsome, tall and they're both actors. Anyway, I really really enjoyed reading this novel, with how the ML interact with the FL and how they tackle issues to not make it a huge problem. Been re-reading it and still, it made me soo giddy and happy. Definitely worth the time to read.

Just re-read the story and realized that the only reason I remembered it was because it never really explains why he divorced his first wife. Reading it the second time now it's still the only interesting thing it this story.

Nothing really happens, nothing is really said and the characters are so boring that normal people have a more exciting life. Basically two introverts who work and have no hobbies.

The reason I gave it 3 stars is because of the translation and because it's just fine/ok. (I would give 1 star... more>> to cannot finish and 2 stars to read but wish I didn't) <<less

墨宝非宝 Is my favourite author. Yi Wenze is such a darling, a perfect man. It’s a sin to be this perfect in real world.

Its a fluff story without any conflict. It’s a fan fantasy. If I’m not mistaken the writer is a screenwriter. I believe its a fan fantasy of a screenwriter. It’s a good read for your gloomy day.

it’s a great read. Very light. I’m seeing cliche tropes in the author’s works but as they wrote it in a nice and realistic way, it’s a great read for someone looking for something light.

little to no drama. It’s actually feels quite sad there’s not much description on ml’s previous relationship. It would have been nice to see why he chose to divorce. Oh and some may feel odd about the lack of actual confession before they are together (or is it just me?) but it’s actually nice ‘cause that’s... more>> what most likely happens in real life. Shy to say their feelings.

it’s a very harmonious relationship, I find it awesome and at the same time unbelievable. They are just too perfect. Especially the ml. Idk. I like it but I just can’t help but point that out.

after reading this and knowing that My Darling is written after, I understand that the author added arguments and misunderstanding with the couple. And the fact that in my darling, the couple chose to not let the whole world see the fl.

kudos to the awesome translator <<less

I am amazed at the main character: every time she needs to think or analyze something, she kind of “oh no, think about it tomorrow”, or she is saved from the situation by another character, or a call. Seriously, how was she able to become a screenwriter if the ability for simple mental operations was not available to her? Shyness or admiration for the idol to the loss of the ability to think may be an excuse for a 14-year-old fan, but God, she is 25.
The story is meant fluffy and light, but all that it wakes up in me is irritation.

Rate: 8/10 -The story is not my favorite of the author, but it is a simple and cute love story.

It's the kind of romance to read quietly in your free time. Not much to think about...

ML: Yi WenZe. A super star idol! A celebrity! A handsome, famous, talented man... Very kind and charismatic. I really like the way he wins the heart of FL, his passionate and devoted fan... but she has both feet on the ground! He can be a little... Domineering! (Oooh, let her drive the car!)

FL:... more>> Jia He. A good screenwriter. Practical and realistic. However, she is living a very sweet dream with her idol! A little unsure, but she is determined to protect her love... Her idol!

Good reading! <<less

I'm just re-read this again.

Can't describe how sweet,

Realistic this story became.

I think the Male lead was the most gentlemanly and soft-spoken person ever that I've read in the novelland. And the girl. So reasonable and not annoying. She is such a great I mean they look great and complete each other

As a sucker for fluffy and sweet romance, I enjoyed this one a looooot! MBFB once again gave us a story worth reading.

It has been a sweet and lovely story! Jia He actually achieved every fangirl's wishful thinking.

It's a beautiful lovestory of an idol who is not really perfect in a sense and his fangirl screenwriter. Why do I say that he is not the typical perfect male lead who almost doesn't have any imperfections aside from being cold? He's a divorcee and for once in his life he suffered... more>> a failure i.e. A failed marriage. Although, it might have been implied in the story that his previous marriage was very casual and business-like. I still love that MBFB did not portray him as someone so perfect without flaws. I love the fact that he's very humble and down-to-earth despite having the superstar status. He's very considerate and gentle to Jia He. What a life she has!!

For our lovely female lead, I certainly relate to her in some aspects especially in terms of being an introvert. I also love that she speaks when she needs. She clearly knows her position in his life and would not let anyone trample on her.

And so, if you're a fellow sucker for fluffy stories, you need to give this a try! Definitely worth it! <<less

It a mature kind of modern love story that still has it's cute and sweet parts to the novel. Both leads working within the entertainment industry and how the idol slowly pursue the little screenwriter. I throughly enjoyed reading the novel and the translator did a good job in translating.

So easy going and fluffy.

If you want to read a story where you can can squeal at the ML's action, this is it. The FL has her own character but she is easily coaxed whenever the ML is involved.
