Do you know how this world ends?

Become the hero and defeat the 72 Demon Lords. The game that was boasted as the absolute hardest strategy game, 『Dungeon Attack』.

I used to be the ‘hero’ who had accomplished everything in this game, but after answering a suspicious survey, I found myself in the game as the weakest Demon Lord, 「Dantalian」.

With only my eloquent tongue and my memories of conquest as a hero—.

In order to survive as Dantalian. I shall tear this world apart.

as mentioned by other reviewers the MC does a complete 180 from volume 1 to 2 and ruins the story with it tbh, it becomes pointlessly dramatic. It was cool seeing an apathetic character who was cold and calculating, but he then turns into a psychopath even though he said he hates psychopaths and would hate to be one/ or be in danger, this ideal even causing him to become a shut in in his earlier life. But then he wants to suddenly kill everyone and meet/provoke the most dangerous... more>> people, its very much a big jump in character, and took me out of the story completely.

3/5 because translation is very good and the first volume was decent <<less

It just sucks that it couldn't continue because of the author's slump. It's amazing because the protagonist is pragmatic, cunning and all the supporting characters shine. It's exciting to see what he'll do next!

One of the very few novel that I have been so infatuated with. This novel will leave you thinking more and more about what would happen next. Truly brain storming well written story and characters. How the main character is designed and his progression throughout the story is impressive.

World is different with so much potential. But more than that, the characters and the story that describes this work of art is what makes this novel so highly addictive to read. For me the dialogues are the main essence of the... more>> novel and if you like war of words, twists, intellectual plots and politics with fantasy setting then this one is a good read. <<less

Please do not mind mistakes in spelling. My program is to blame.

So far I am greatly excited About this novel and curious for more. It is to the Point, that it makes me wonder how this piece of art escaped my Attention for all These years. In comparison to all of the casual isekai stories it is a ray of sunshine in the middle of the night.

There are many "Genius"-characters in modern fiction. However, because of the mental capacity of most authors their realization is far from believable and mostly... more>> a make-belief-remark to fill out plotholes.

This is not the case here.

We do not have to cross a bumpy storyline, but are allowed to smoothly slide into the authors world of Imagination.

Furthermore, the number of well written intellectual characters is smaller than the number of Demon Kings. Therefore, I shall praise the author. "Well done! You managed to pique my interest". (For the author who spent his Sweat and blood it must feel like "How dare this bastard be arrogant before my lifeblood?! Haha.")

The cruel truth however is, that I am an underage member of humble Background. Sadly I cannot throw Money at the creative mind behind the Entertainment, alike to a visitor of dubious nighttime facilities. So praise is where my support of the official release shall end. Otherwise I might have to Resort to grueling physical labour to pay for my fun...

Nevertheless, I would like to instigate those with the required assets to support the author. Not for the sake of reviving the series, but to appreciate the mental Stimulation this novel has to offer.

PS: Elements of Greek tragedy with a shakespearian touch I greatly appreciate.

User Edit:

I have read past Volume 2 now, and I have to say, that the new passages feel more like self-satisfaction. I can only thank god, that he struck the author with a mental disease, after he finished v.1. Why would Dantalian confront Barbatos in such a foolish way? He might not be afraid of death, but good grief, to Corner a powerful Entity like her for no good reason. He just had to flaunt his wisdom... Because of that he became the lolis plaything?! He may very well play the pig to eat the tiger and reverse the situation in the future, but he is a frickin glass cannon. No amount of schemes could save him in front of an irrational entity. I mean, that one Demon King could decide to kill him if he doesn't like his face. By the way, instead of taking charge in the wars, he just grabs some S-Ranked General to skip the conflict scenes. All he does is think of draconic punishments for delinquents.

Where is the sophistication? The malice? It is Cold-hearted Slaughter from this Point onwards. No superior glares, but cosmic indifference. The sense of achievement went down the drain. Political skirmishes, which I very much enjoyed, are replaced with a series of battles.

In my Point of view, Dantalian shouldn't be an achieved conqueror, but a politician. The start of the Human-Demon war should be his stepping-stone! However, he was eaten alive (sexually) by some lolita-demon-lord-b*tch, which stole his entire dignity!

Why was he able to avoid every lurking calamity, only to become some Boy-toy of an overpowered 500 year old b*tch in a child's Body? He can't even manipulate the Loli-queen properly, since she isn't an idiot. Who the h*ck wants to be stepped on by some b*tchy, overpowered loli.

I mean, it isn't even funny. He can't even take Revenge, because he got into it?!

A Genius, who can't even protect his chastity from a devil-child-caracter is dead to me. F*ck the fact that she can kill him at will. F*ck the fact that she is an unpredictable nutcase. F*ck the fact, that he can't bail out of his Involvement with her.

The author has his own inadequacy to blame. He commited 3 unforgivable sins:

-First, to reassure the Reader, that Dantalian won't have multiple women like his Father.

-Second, to promise not to lay his Hands on minors, like his Father.

-Thirdly, to not be weak, like his Father. (He gets dictated by Women. Partially of his own Accord!)

Every single premise now was splendidly broken, with Barbatos reverse-raping him. You know what? If he thinks of su*cide at least once a day, why not make him do it so that he can be reborn in some casual-isekai-bullsh*t world! Why in the world does he have to entertain multiple s*x friends? Not that this is out of character, but he can't even stay true to himself. This narcissistic, self-centered bastard just wrecked his very on Concept of the withered weed he calls ethics.

Get the h*ll out of my sight! <<less

If I had to decide which novel provides the most intriguing character development amongst all, Dungeon Defence would in this case be my choice. It is in itself a novel that truly makes you experience the psyche of the main character and live the moment rather than simply spectate. I praise the artist and thank the author for this work.

Honestly the characters where well done, plus their backgrounds stories add to their complexity in a fun way. The only thing I disliked was the MC after volume 1. He's too contradictory and hypocritical for me.

Spoiler

He becomes wishy-washy and break all his rules. Like fall in love, like his father. Get with Barbaros when he specifically mentioned he hates lolicons. Even have a harem while being Barbaros' b*tch... Just like his father.

He also always mentions how he hates mindless violence, yet tortured, killed and burned peaceful villages with Barbaros, while he grins at the side. Yet for some reason, he says it's for survival/trying not to die. Just like their enemy nobles, whom they consider hypocrites. That just straight up pisses me off.

I remember He said he loves laziness, then power followed by love. Yet he never clarified on any of that, he even stopped being lazy in the first volume, that's s*upid as a lie

[collapse]

This novel was less of descent into madness but rather descend into s*upidity and hypocrisy.

What I hated the most, including all psychological novels, are the nonsense statements and unrelated famous quotes to make us think they're genius, maybe they got lost in the translation... JUST BECAUSE SOMETHING SOUNDS COOL, DOES MEAN IT'S TRUE

I can ignore the feminist/female power thing in this novel, but what's with the talking-too-much stereotype in this novel. I never said it's a female thing, just common in many psychological novels with "genius" women.

I should have dropped it after volume 1 when it had potential, but the author tricked me at the bottom of prologue that it will get better, but he failed to deliver.

Spoiler

just completed this novel in the raws but I couldn't post the review. Actually I was wrong about this novel, I wrote the first comment on the premise it was character growth, but it was actually character descend, him getting ruined by his own sins.

I thought to add a tragedy tag to the novel but that would only reduce the number of readers, and it's not really tragic. It's like those Shakespeare plays, except in a fantasy settings. That already tells you nothing goes well for the characters

MC is a cunning person whose intentions early were believed to be someone else, which led to some humour around the situation. Volume 1 gives us the setup for later volumes and volume 2 gives us deeper character relations and the end goal for one of the 72 Demon lords. Volume 2 is also such a clusterf*ck, in a good way, with the MC romance that was I don't even know what happened for a while. It leads you on.

its a fairly good novel that gives me what I wanted.

So, author made this novel the "tutorial mode on lunatic difficulty", then he will make up whatever he want, if he mess up the history he can make like "tutorial mode is finished", then proceed to "main game mode" reseting the history of the novel, then he will reset making it look like it was a beta test, after that probably it will make like "main version release" add some DLC and loot box, finish the game, and either "MC wakes up and it was all a dream/game" or either... more>> "dungeon defense 2.0" etc...

Idk which I've read that "tutorial mode completed" <<less

This is one of the few kingdom building novels that I read upto now. MC is smart and weak (almost no powers) and lot of main characters are also smart.

He uses his previous life knowledge about this game to gain money and various schemes.

Upto to now this novel is pretty interesting and it worth reading.

Its an interesting novel, not your typical goody two shoes MC. However, its not perfect. The reason for 4 stars and not 5 is because of the fundamental plot holes from the beginning of the story. If you've paid attention to the novel and did not skim through it, you'll notice what I mean. Otherwise, its a nice original story.

A good LN, well writed and well translated =)

The story is pretty great.

My main disappointment is the MC, I hate it when intellectual character overthink everything and elaborate complex schemes in a few second between two sentences.... Plus I loved him during the epilogue but he clearly going in his father steps from the beginning... He seems to interact only with females and even if it's a joke for him he spend most of his time flirting.

And the worst is that everything fall perfectly how he predicted without errors... more>> as if everything is made for him while most of the crucial point seems to happen by luck even after everything is explained.

If you like mind games, go for it but just follow the flow, don't try to analyse it. <<less

I've enjoyed this a lot so far.

While it's a good example of a political thriller, I don't think it is the most interesting story, and it can feel somewhat lazy at times:

Spoiler

With all of his intelligence and knowledge of future events, It feels like he should be better able to control the course of events without relying so much on others' cooperation.

[collapse]

However, there are unique strengths to this series:

Spoiler

It's enjoyable how much his past life affects his decisions and choices. It really makes the character feel complete (though morbidly insane). And MC really does manage to be charming despite his evil-ness, making you constantly second-guess whether you fully understand him.

[collapse]

Looking forward to the direction the MC takes this journey.

Not going to repeat the same reviews as others so tldr... The shades of mentality, the twist and the way they act is amazingly done.

From what I've gathered, the theme of the story is control over Knowledge/Information is key to survival. The results are planned well yet in my opinion peeves me. Barbatos's have a network of information so she's clean of this con but why couldn't she learned human language....
Spoiler

The MC however, is an avid and obsessive player who had cleared the game which the world is based on. He is reincarnated way before the start of the game, the past but through the game, he had learned key events; dates of the plague and the named character's motivations, fate; Laura's destiny and secrets; Ivar's true identity.

what can I say it's just entertaining, at first it may seem like a typical transported to another world novel which in some cases it is. It has its cliches here and there, i.e the whole lazy protagonist, but it adds a little spin to the cliche. Plus the concept is just amazing, though its been done in some form or another its never been really in my opinion this well written. Volume one does a good job of getting us to know the main character and other important characters... more>> and a lot of world building which is done in a very entertaining way. Volume 2 we get to see a new side of the main character and it expands more on certain aspects and provides another great story in the form of drama and the ending of volume 2 is satisfying, reminds me a little of the whole thing deathnote had going on with this everything is in the palm of my hand vibe going. Overall great story totally recommed it. <<less
