When she wandered the border of life and death at the age of three, Cordelia realized that she had been reincarnated into a game she had used to play as a high handed noble girl. A dark future would await her if she fell in love with the Prince. Therefore, for the sake of a normal life, there was no road but to avoid the powerful prince and the heroine…… But just doing that would be boring. She finally was blessed with a beautiful appearance so she resolved to polish herself, firstly by beginning to study herbology…… This is that kind of story.

This one is just too cute, I cannot~~~

A very shoujo romance story on transmigration, yet cuteness overloaaad >w<

And for the translations, Cloudy TL did a justice on the work. I've read the translations by other teams on this work, but theirs are really the best--even on other on shoujo novels.

The story drags so much I'm not sure I want to continue reading this. The characters are all fairly typical to the genre, the story while being different is honestly boring - nothing exciting ever happens. The romance content so far barely exists. Most of what's written is spent on her developing her herb research/business or whatever. It's ok, but I don't feel like continuing.

Cute story and it's nice that you can see Cordelia actively working to learn new things and further her goals even if it's something I personally have no interest in. See, when she reincarnated into a noble villainess, she decided the best course of action would be to flat out avoid the prince at every opportunity so she couldn't get dragged into engagement annulment shenanigans. However, her father is extremely cold natured and was going to force her to try to cozy up to him... until she hit the cute... more>> button and he turned into an icy faced doting dad who supports her endeavors. Those endeavors? Making perfumes and cosmetics with significantly more work shown for the details than is typical. So that's all pretty solid.

Unfortunately, she failed at her goal years ago and didn't even realize it, apparently having forgotten that she and the prince share a mutual friend, who disguises the prince so they can sneak out together. He develops a massive crush on her and can't figure out why she refuses to meet his princely self even though she's quite friendly towards his disguised persona. Again, all pretty good stuff, makes you anticipate the day she finally figures out who he really is as well as the story picking up those hints of the heroine showing up.

Now for the downsides. The third volume is extremely, incredibly boring with long jabbering about the scents and some kind of weird counterfeit cloth plot that doesn't really matter in the slightest. I almost knocked off a point for that volume alone but volume four seems to be starting off on good footing so I"m willing to cut it some slack. If it turns out just as bad I'm knocking off at least one star. <<less

Edit: well, this was a very good read. But unfortunately it seems that it was axed. So even though I was expecting some 2-3 more volumes until the ending they had to forcefully make an ending that left a lot of loose strings and really wasn't that good, thus I will drop my score from 5 to 4 stars, this was overall a very good read, unfortunately the last arc is utterly shit.

This Is probably one of my favorite novels on this website. I'd like to point some reason why... more>> you might like to read this one:

-Enjoyment reading: Well, this one is personal, but I really loved reading this novel, it's far from perfect but it's still a cute and absolutely beautiful light romance story with a lot of interesting things about some plants and noble society, I would say that if you want something more light to pass your time, this is definitely a choice. Right now It's close to the ending of the novel on the 6th volume and I'm really exited to see what will become of all the characters!!

-Translation: Whimsical Stargazers translated all of the chapters, there were some minor mistakes but this is probably one of the most accurate novel translations that I've seen, there are no off putting mistakes like the famous "He it is" or something like a "he write for her 3 days ago", the text layout is really good making for an easy reading.

-Story: The story is pretty much what you would expect from a "Otome Game Villainess" genre there are some plot holes but nothing serious enough to make it a bad story. It also features age progression in a pretty good way, you can clearly see that Mc's improving with time. If I were to rate it I would say that it's on the high end of average.

-Characters: The characters all have unique and well defined personalities, making then very memorable, even minor characters like Dahlia, Mick or the head chief have unique traits that make then distinguishable from others, making the story feel a lot more organic that those novels where only the MC has a clear personality.

-MC (Cordelia) : This point is where Drop!! shines for me, I love the MC on this novel, different from other Isekai/Otome game reincartators Cordelia doesn't just "Oh, I have memories from another life, so I'll become Japanese High Schooler number 3" but rather I feel like her old life personality mix with "Cordelia" making a wonderful MC that isn't "Average Japanese Girl" nor "I'm a villainess that will die in x years", she becomes a unique character that has traits from both persons. Also, Mc's backstory almost isn't mentioned, something that I can only interpret as the autor saying "Stop caring about her life from before, Cordelia is Cordelia, not just some japanese girl"

-Mc's Op Level: Some might think that MC is an Op god, but I don't think that she is Op, she's just a High Specs girl. But not on the level of "i'll make an agrarian reform and I just happened to know how to make chocolate from scratch". You might argue "But she does this an that, and those are also complex things", perhaps, but you see "this and that" are actually things taught even to high schoolers on chemistry classes right? Even more, MC wasn't an average high schooler on her previous life, as stated on the novel "I loved plant so much that I even studied then at the place called college" or something like this, this clearly means that she had at least some academic background.

-The romance: The romance plot on this novel is pretty light but it does happen, just in a pretty slowly and cute way as time progresses.

10/10 would read a 2nd time... In fact, I've already read it a second time... <<less

Certainly a leisurely and enjoyable read. Its cute and the setting and characters are pretty nicely fleshed out. It wont be too interesting to those who arent interested in her research process and about the herbs or her business planning. Personally I like it. Charming, but it IS very slow-paced! Especially in the romance department. Id be more okay with it if it didnt keep teasing with little Gille pining for her.

I dont really feel the effect of the transmigration. She has some knowledge and ofc is avoiding the Prince,... more>> but a lot of it is through her own enthusiasm for research? It just seems so inconsequential especially since she hasnt come into contact with anything related to the game life really. Smart choice as an MC and its refreshing that shes not op nor brainless, but I cant see any reason for this to be transmigration if there is basically 0 involvement with that stuff. Its almost never mentioned besides the occaisional "oops not gonna see the Prince" or "a pencil would be nice" so it may very well have just been a story about a young noble girl who is interested in perfume and had a terrible dream or prophecy told about meeting the prince. And there has been 0 tension with the Prince anyways. <<less

Compared to the WN, it isn't as slow in the start. There is no info dump prologue. However, after that I miss some of the details from the WN and it feels like too much has been removed. Anyhow, we'll see what I think of the LN when more chapters have been translated.

I really like it! Maybe it's because I also love plants, but I found it very fascinating. I understand that it's not everyone else's cup of tea, but reading about someone who loves plants as much as I do made me very happy.

If you like a slow slice of life with highly forced plot that would educate you on fragrances, this is for you.

The plot development is as I've said forced to the point that MC would trade comfort in exchange for contact with a person with suspicions to be the prince that lead to her death.

The story is to avoid the prince, but she became interested with the person having the highest probablity of being the prince.

Even if that dance happened and both existed in the same place, she haven't met... more>> both at the same time. She should've been more suspicious when she saw the prince after gille disappear without a trace. Even if she doesn't know misdirection, she should've doubted it.

The characters are a tsundere lo*icon father, a leech goafer friend, a doting brother, a deppressed mother, a prince trying to gain friends, a neighborhood elder brother, a bunch of feminist magicians, an energetic uncle and aunt, and our MC who gives everything so that the story can have a bit of drama.

There's a bit of character development.

The writing quality, is giving us useless block of text for a 4k word count chapter, and giving us the character thoughts, some dialogues, and the characteristics of herbs and their uses and 80% of useless text.

So overall, I'd barely rate it as 2, just becasue I learned 2 extraction method of essential oils and the uses of this said oils. Still, this story is just MC following the orders of the author without having a sense of self, she's the embodiment of eastern mc's, that makes a good novel bad. <<less

I really like it. It focuses on the everyday aspect of the mc's life rather than life-threatening events at every corner. It's very slice of life kind with a focus on how she uses her knowledge from this world and integrates it with her magic from the fantasy world to make essential oils. Very cute, heartwarming, relaxing and a good read for slow days. It's not something exciting (most of the times) but it does keep a level of suspense since there are major events that still need to unfold.... more>> The MC is also very likable so I never felt frustrated with her choices (even when she did avoid this one person who I really didnt want her to avoid. I mean she was doing such a good job that I felt it would be idiotic of me to tell her to confront someone who could potentially hold the key to her demise when it's so easy to avoid him than make friends and potentially jeopardize the acquaintance stance) <<less

I felt the story had potential and some interesting ideas, but so far I feel they don't really pan out. The author seems to flip flop a lot regarding what's expected of a noble, and usually the flip flopping is forced in order to push forward a romantic development that realistically never should have happened. The translation quality is great, and I might continue reading a bit just in case it improves, but overall I felt this novel was a solid 3/5.

Spoiler
  • The FL never tells anyone anything important about her goals. She doesn't want to marry into the royal family, so instead of coming up with a good reason and telling her family so they don't try to start conversations about it, she just stares "meaningfully" into their eyes whenever they bring it up. She's 14 years old, and she's relying her family to base her engagement on a random comment she said when she was 3. She hides her relationship with Gilles for absolutely no reason, and when she gets asked about who she's writing to because everyone knows about it anyway, she pretends to ignore the question as if her father's not concerned about the boy she's been obviously writing to for years. This is useless plot armor that does nothing but extend the MC finding out the prince's identity in ways no sane 30-year old office worker soul would normally do.
  • I'm still not sure why the MC isn't trying to commercialize her aromas and products after 10 years. They've been proven to work and have been promoted by many high class ladies, but for some reason the FL keeps complaining about lacking money and never commercializes her biggest money making prospect. Again, IMO this is just the author forcing her to stay out of the spotlight so she doesn't have to figure out the prince's identity and doesn't catch attention beforehand.

It’s a very well rounded story for something that used the “Reborn as the Otome Villainess” theme.

I quite liked how despite following the MC/FL’s life growing up, it wasn’t dragging nor did it try to jam pack itself with intrigues. It was well balanced, though I’m somewhat baffled at what Volume 6’s extra 2 was supposed to be, I felt that ending it at V6 extra 1 would have been the best. That second extra was like some random photo bomber that just jumped in out of the blue.

My only... more>> complaint would actually be with the translator’s website, it took forever to load each page (if it loaded at all) so I had to look for other sites to read it on. <<less

I liked it a lot.

Factors that might swing your preference for or against is that it's a pretty slow burn. If you don't like the slow life stories, you'll probably dislike this one.

Almost all the focus is on her working on scents and her goals in life.

... more>> She's a bit dense on the Male Lead, and the major conflicts that do show up are handled in an overly quick way. So it'll build up to a major show down or epic battle scenario, and then it just... has a resolution.

What made me love it most is the side characters were fun and far more detailed than you usually get out of non-love interests typically. The relationships (with the exclusion of a couple important ones) were realistic and enjoyable. <<less

I honestly love this story but I agree that it could be better. There are many unnecessary side stories and characters that didn't affect main story much and made this story dragged for 6 volumes. And also there are other things that make me disappointed the further I read the story and also after reading the ending:

Spoiler
  • Unsolved problem between MC and her parents. She never met her mother until the end of the story and her parents still avoid each other although they live in the same house. I wish the author focused more on this story rather than some unnecessary characters who only appeared for 1 volume then disappeared.
  • MC and ML's fast development. They were still pen pal till vol. 5 and MC still had no idea ML's true identity. But suddenly after learning his true identity, the author only wrote their dating process in 1 chapter then they got married in the next chapter. I feel it's so rushed. I think they are still lack of chemistry and the author should build their relationship slowly, at least in 1 volume not 1 chapter.
  • Unknown ending of the recurring characters, such as Vernoux, Hazel, Isma, Ronnie, and Lara (I thought Vernoux/Hazel and Ronnie/Lara would be a couple in the end but too bad it doesn't happen).
[collapse]

But not all aspects in this novel are disappointing.

  • I love MC. She's smart and turned her ideas into the real products. And it's not instant. She researched it since she was a child and only launched it after the products were perfect enough.
  • I love the illustrations. But too bad there is no illustration on their wedding day.
  • I also love the translation. Good job for translator-sama.

I dunno if I should continue reading or not. The MC is quite smart. But she instantly become dumb when the prince Sylvester is mentioned. In the game, Sylvester was the reason she died. She wanted to change her fate, and she did. Her relationship with her family got so much better and even became friends with some characters that is hostile to her in the game. She became a well-liked ojou-sama. But why when it comes to the prince she always think she couldn't change her fate with him... more>> and she always think he will dislike her and kill her. Always finding excuses to avoid him, resulting in misunderstandings. She changed her fate and her relationship with so many people so why does she think she can't change her fate with the prince? I don't get it. That's kinda annoying I wanna slap her on that part. Lol.

Another thing, she's the typical Goody Two Shoes. Yes, like most of those Japanese light novel protagonists that doesn't know the line between being kind and being ab*sed. Lol. She never gets angry even if she's being hated and disrespected. She's always this "I'm mentally older so I should be tolerant". If I'm one of the people around her, I'd find her f*cking abnormal or hypocritical. A 12 year old acting like a 40 year old that's fuken weird.

But I like that she's using her previous life knowledge to help her family and their feif, establishing business and doing good for the community. <<less

I'm not totally sure why this has high ratings. It's all over the place and has good moments but it's like she has ADHD and not in a fun way. They smush the Meal Lead hard early on which turn me off. I don't mind a random meeting but they make it into this huge big thing instead of slowly building the relationship. IE Lady of the Lamp, and instead make it so huge that it gives away everything very quickly. She is suppose to having this cool "goal" thing... more>> with perfumes but it's kinda half ass'd. You also, don't feel her geek over it that much. It's something she's doing but not something that she gets pumped over. Which is a little sad because I'd be pump if I could figure it out. She has these small sucesses but she never really cashes in early on so you an see the stepping stone. She just starts doing and talking about other things without cashing as a reader and what it means for the thing she discovered in this world. Just not an enjoyable book. <<less

It starts off well enough, if a bit basic. However, it quickly seems to lose focus. Basically all of its story arcs seem unnecessary and a bit boring. Plus, the MC has business ideas which the story doesn't develop properly or does so long after the point we stop caring about it.

Also if you're looking for a romance, then look elsewhere. The ML pretty much falls for the MC at first sight, then there is very little interaction between the two except through letters. The MC doesn't know the ML... more>> is who she is writing and is somewhat afraid of interacting with his true self. No warm and fuzzies here.

By the way, all this happens when they are preteens. By the time they grow up, the story is pretty much over.

I wanted to like this story, but it's really just subar on all fronts. <<less

The story is cute and it had a lot of potential, but the execution was a little disappointing. I think there was too much focus on the MC's aroma creation than actual plot. It also got boring in parts and seemed drag on until the next plot point. The author should have spent more time on character development. It's a good story to pass the time with, just don't expect too much depth.

If you like a pure shoujo romance and simple story then you will like this one otherwise you will be bored will reading it or will read as a complete okay story like me. I appreciate the translator effort in his/her work. The most disappointed factor in this story the family of the FL that till the end the broken relationships in the family were not fixed but remain as it is, and even the excesses that the older sister said FL was an acceptable, yet you can judge if... more>> it a bad or a good family till the end. <<less
