On the day Feng Can transferred to SP Club, half of the people in the e-sports circle were stunned. The other half was watching the show and making a happy voice: the first ADC in the universe came to be a son for Nian-ge, and violence was expected.

Tbh, I have mixed feelings about this novel.

First things first, in the first 25~ chapters, the ML is a total brat. Yes. He doesn't know how to deal with social affairs, he thinks he's unstoppable as an ADC, and that supports should completely adjust to him, as he can "carry" the team. He kisses the MC without consent (although the MC did give up refusing his kisses after a while for some weird reason). He is a 19 year old kid, and I got pissed a few times reading him... more>> do questionable things. However, there's character development (which I honestly didn't expect). He (heavy spoiler on his character development)
Spoiler

first changes from an immature, self-centered brat who still has his impulsive habits back from his time as a streamer to a person who tries to follow his leader's (MC) orders to his best and plays it safe, even if it meant he didn't enjoy it. He got mediocre results after his "change", and grew into a person who follows his leader's orders while retaining his own play style without looking down on the opponent. However, he still doesn't deal with his relationship with the MC in a mature way, so they talk it out and he grows into a person who can deal with things (in-game and their relationship) in a mature way without being stuck-up.

[collapse]
His personality grows along with how he plays in-game and I think the author dealt with that quite nicely. The MC also has some really minor character development. Though, he also does some questionable decisions regarding the ML's kissing without permission. He does talk out stuff with the ML, so I have mixed feelings about him. I like his personality, but I can't get over the fact that he dealt with the MC harassing kissing him by giving in after a few times.

Well, the gaming part of the novel was quite nice. It wasn't amazing, but it was better than normal. If you ignore the MC and ML's questionable actions (consent is mandatory but this is a novel and I don't know what to feel about this) and how their relationship started, it's not a terrible e-sports/romance novel. 3.7/5. <<less

I liked the first 20 chapters or so, Feng Can (who I'd consider the MC of the story since we mostly get his thoughts, not the team captain who's the shou) has a somewhat spoiled attitude and is someone very young who has to grow up as part of a professional e-sports team. I'm normally not into e-sport and only read this because I like some of the other books by the same author (Deluge is really good, leagues above this one). The MC struggles to get along with his... more>> team captain, who's older than him by 6 years (Feng Can is only 19 and it shows in the beginning, he's really just a dumb kid) and very strict and cold. Gradually Feng Can falls in love with his team captain, and part of the plot deals with how they eventually develop a relationship.

I didn't like the romance at all. It felt unrealistic that the ML supposedly fell for Feng Can just because he was super persisting. Normally I don't morally grey characters or when a character pursues the love interest by all means, but here it was just kind of brainless how the ML was persuaded to get into a relationship with the MC despite having no feelings or attraction towards him for the longest time. It's a shame, because I love the trope 'wolf puppy gong falls hard for older, more mature and cold/withdrawn shou and pursues him relentlessly'. But it just didn't work here, because the MC just kept forcing himself on the ML and the ML just ended up accepting his advances for... reasons?

And the smut scene was weird - I don't get why it's fashionable among some danmei authors to have the gong basically noncon the shou the first time they do it - why is that considered sexy?! If it at least served a real purpose for the plot, but it didn't seem to (well, I dropped the novel after that scene so maybe something happened later).

My main problem was the ML's cold and indifferent attitude, and that I didn't believe it when he warmed up to the gong. I have previously loved a dynamic with wolf dog gong and cold shou, but there has to be some tension for the relationship to work. <<less
