Though I feel like the ending was kinda rushed and the buildup was much more satisfying than the climax itself. I was a bit dissatisfied that it only took 3-4 chapters for Fu Li to die and then come back? Just two years in their world! I mean, glad for the happy ending but the grief has not settled yet and it’s already solved.

Also, I was expecting for the little girl who was the catalyst of Fu Li’s revival to be mentioned again but nah. I was expecting her to be invited to the wedding or even the reception or be given a villa or two because low key it was all thanks to her.

And addtl unrelated (?) review, author is a fave of mine with regards to plotting and set-ups but the interpersonal relation, character consistency, and character’s design is a pale background for whatever’s happening in the story. But this still good so I gave it a 5, with love.

MC basicly some naive, second rich generation, and ML is the first rich generation, cold, stingy and expressionless type before he fell in love with MC. The plot of the stories about they being together, fighting stronger yaoguai, be lovey dovey and thats all around it. But its really good story and I recommended you to read it

i’m so soft for found family plot points. Every time, an elder came to see their child again, I cried. Yet, at the same time, I also cried for MC and how kind he remained despite everything. It really showed just how much love and patience he was raised with, it was so touching. I’m so happy that he could reunite with his family and that they didn’t have to hide away anymore. It’s really thanks to ML having connected the yao and human world so that the yao can continue to live. I loved how much you can tell the MC was loved by his family. I think that has to be my favorite part. Each elder saw him as their child and treated him as such.

romancewise, I wasn’t surprised that the ML turned out to be the pet MC raised, but all the same, I still found it romantic. I’m glad that he could obtain the love that he wanted and could be with MC. Their relationship dynamic is so f*cking cute. I love that while the elders were talking, we’d see how the MC and ML interact in their point of view. ML is so doting and indulgent to MC who is already so spoiled. I also love how ML kept carrying MC in his arms when MC got too lazy to walk himself. When MC died, I cried so hard because the ml’s reaction. The slight parallelism of his emotions in his current life with his past life was tragic. Meng po seeing him behave the same way as his past life was heartbreaking. Personally I have some mixed feelings about the handling of past lived by the MC and ml. Don’t get me wrong, I completely agree and even admire their stance on it. “This life is this life, and that life is the past.” that is very true. Bo lian and MC were bo lian and MC. Zhuang qing and MC are zhuang qing and MC. They had different feelings in the past between themselves and different feelings now, though things didn’t change for ml. I like the fact that the ML was firmly his own person and didn’t want to attach himself to his past life even if it was technically still him. He respected his past life as a separate individual, but he also knew that that was still him. For MC, of course, it was easy for him to dismiss that pet because he really had no romantic feelings for him in that life. But, he still held some good feelings for that life of ml. I just think it’s a really good perspective to have when it comes to past lives. Those were people who lived their life in that time and who they are in their next life can enjoy a different life. It’s mature and also realistic. I guess i’m just a little spoiled when it comes to romance and got used to past lives being remembered and combining with their present lives yknow? But, at the same time, I also know and understand why it wouldn’t have been any use for the ML to have remembered his past life. Him and bo lian are completely different people. Not only did they have different personalities but they also lived in different and had different dynamics with the MC, whom they both loved. Bo lian could only cry tears of blood and sacrifice his natal chart while waiting for the MC but ML could stand as equals with MC and become his dao companion. Moreover, what was ML supposed to do with his other memories? Surely, bo lian also had different desires aside from being mc’s lover. It would’ve just been messy. There’s little use for that in the plot and also little use to the ML who was already his own person and with his own power.

i knew the MC would come back to life somehow, but I was really like ?? At the way he managed to survive lmao but I guess it still made sense somehow. If you’ve read other xianxia, you’d know how powerful the power of faith is. I knew because the little girl’s faith was mentioned that it would be used for the plot somehow but I didn’t think it would be the actual reason the MC survived. This part might be the one part I find lacking. It is understandable how the MC might survive but it also seems that he survived fully intact and same as before his death which doesn’t make sense. First of all, he’s not a god. Second, he’s not even an auspicious beast by nature, but a fiend. It would’ve been enough for him to have survived but in a weakened or less powerful state because of that small strand of faith but it shouldn’t have been powerful enough to have him completely the same as before unless it was indicated in the story that he rose to be an auspicious beast. Alas, it wasn’t mentioned or explained. At this point, the plot was being wrapped up so some things were left that way. I guess, i’m also just glad he didn’t keep the ML waiting longer and that his two other elders also survived! I just wish more stuff about MC after his death and revival were explained as well as why some auspicious beasts and finds fell asleep two thousand years ago and why heavenly law was so against the divine beasts existing during that time before the yao race was supposed to fall.

in the end though, i’m just happy that the MC and ML could finally be dao companions. It hurt so bad to have read the part about “no one knew an important day on the eighteenth was cancelled that month” like f*ck ouch. You could tell the ml’s pain and loneliness from that day on. He lost someone so important to him, someone he had loved for many lifetimes but only he would know that they were supposed to get married and become official dao companions on that day, save for the other people who knew about it. Sigh. The ML went through so much. I’m happy for him. He finally got everything he wanted.

is extremely pampered by his elders for 2000 years but surprisingly didn't grow to be an overbearing nor haughty second generation rich yao lol. He has a somewhat elder mentality and tried to be dependable in front of his junior but privately still retains a childish mentality. Also he took his elders "giving valuables easily" habits

has the typical tragic background story full of dead parents, bullying, and being hunted. Oh yeah, and he's a tsundere that want to keep MC in the dark about his feeling rather than burdening MC with guilt/pity ? if he don't feel the same way

Before reading this, I was expecting large part of the story will contain MC trying his best to past the exams, but uhhhh, it seems like author forgot until the last chapter. Well the story still good for me, nothing feels janky so I forgive them

The mastermind is really... how to say it, abrupt? like who's this? author just pull it from their a**. I was really disappointed especially as the foreshadowing and build up before this is done very well. So, the overall ending is yeah.. adding the anti climatic moment/conclusion at the end, I just want to pretend it doesn't exist. Like man, the casual action packed chapter in early to mid story is better than this and better suited to be an ending scenario. I'm being soft hearted just because it's mainly slice of life therefore not making it 4 stars
