I highly recommend this novel while it's execution may seem simple it is still a great novel.

Most characters in these novels need a major threat to get them to strive for strength, like maybe their girlfriend get's stolen or maybe their sect gets annihilated. These happenings usually leave the main characters jaded or crazy, willing to kill anything that moves. That doesn't happen here, he keep his modern ethics and morals, but dont be mistaken, he would kill anyone who tries to kill him. So in short we get a... more>> reasonable, and calm character.

Something that really bothers me is when a character behaves in calm manner their usually seen as having no personality, do you have to be childish or s*upid to have a personality? Do you have to make simple mistakes to be consider normal? If so I don't want a normal MC, they seem like a waste of time.

I think it's time I told you why to read this novel instead of why other novels are clichéd.

1) It an xuanhuan novel that takes advantage of it's fantasy world, we see our main character travel and face unique adversity.

2) Side characters stick around, 265 chapters in the cast only increases but is never forgotten.

3) The fights started off good in this novel but something strange happened as the novel progressed, they got better. Then they were great and at this point- 265 chapters in- their-approaching EPIC.

If anything I wrote caught your attention give this novel a try, 5/5. <<less

I like it its similar to peerless martial god except from the spirit part. MC soul fusion and great learning abilities as well, but less bloody and ruthless at least so far. So like peerless but more mild in violence

Story is interesting, writing is lacking.

The story has all the usual tropes that makes xianxia novels entertaining such as a protagonist taking over the body of a useless young master of a somewhat famous clan, cheat ability like high comprehension, fiance breaking engagement, disciple of a sect, etc. The only problem is the authors writing style which is lacking in description leading to battles looking so simple and the story moving at a fast pace. Without giving us proper description we are left with no clear picture of what's going... more>> on, characters personality, and what to anticipate on the world the MC is living. Nonetheless it is still a good since the story is falling at the right direction and it is interesting enough to be above mediocrity. I expect a lot from this novel and hope that the score can only go higher rather than lower. <<less

I wasn't going to comment, but I saw that someone called this a copy of PMG.

I thought that was rather hilarious considering the author of this story started it in 2011 and the author of PMG started his in December of 2012.

Fairly easy to check on on the publishing websites for anyone who wants to verify for themselves.

The best way I could describe this webnovel is cultivation, martial arts techniques, tournaments, and fightings beasts. The goal of the MC has to be win all tournaments, or become strong, nothing else. Not many interesting events haapen, it is boring.

Someone mentioned mc's parents do not care about him, but they do, maybe confused with different novel.

It's not that bad, slightly better than PMG by 5% and no harem thus far. This novel offers nothing new just those generic plots, dialogues, s*upid villains and annoying crowds. The MC is okay, he's not too s*upid nor arrogant. If you are bored and don't have anything more to read then you can give this a try, just don't expect too much. Well, I might drop this soon if things get too repetitive.

Alright so, its been a while since I've read the beginning of this but I remember there wasn't anything new there, fairly typical xianxia setup and plot. The MC was a lot better then most and in general was more bearable in terms of characters not being as over the top and all that bs.

I first dropped around the 300 chapter mark as the release was really slow and the novel itself got progressively worse as it went along, going further in to the same chinese xianxia/wuxia repetitive garbage.

Picked it... more>> back up recently as there were a lot of chapters to read, but my got it only gets worse.

  • MC just so happens to always end up stumbling in the town as insert plot point happens, be it the once every several years tournament or this once in a lifetime auction or whatever other insert bs coincidence happens.
  • All the females around the MC just get granted freebies so they can keep up with the MC for the inevitable harem. They don't actually put in any work (on-screen so to say), they just get helped by the MC and or happen to fall in to it. Its dumb, boring and doesn't do anything to develop the characters and I really don't understand the obsession all the chinese writers have with it.
  • Constant sh*t being introduced to pad things along, constant intangible powerups and so on. First the realm he got to had 3 levels, then later on theres the extreme version that are at the very top, which is whatever fine, people that are above everyone else in that realm, sure I'll go with it. But no, after that theres paragon, and its just like... why not just stop adding useless steps ? And its not just that, the character keeps getting pointless powerups without actually crossing realms, he was already capable of fighting above his realm when he was mid realm, now he's at the very top of his realm and has been for a long time, he can already pretty much fight top level in the next realm and he just got another 50% buff to his power which who knows where that puts him... but why ? Just make him get to the next realm, it makes the realms pointless outside you as an author having an easy way to show how "awesome" your MC is. This whole fighting above your realm thing is way to overabused in xianxia in general, it should be special and used with care to create amazing moments, but they just like to jerk themselves over their MCs and it becomes meaningless.
  • The only thing I can give this novel is that, at the very least there isn't too much "overly arogant/ignorant" young master that shows up and silly conflict. There's some decent characters by xianxia level of writting and the novel definitely has its moments.

i just finish reading this novel until chapter 269... im quite straight forward person and I absolutely love how the plot written.... it is easy to understand and although mostly we can guess that MC can overcome the obstacle but there is still element of surprised from the MC... and for that im quite thrilled especially when his enemy underestimated him... and the other one is about romantic element...i like how the MC is not losing his focus and getting involved in love... but if there is love interest occur... more>> I wouldnt mind too much because sometimes it good for the MC to have a motivation sort of...i just hope the girl is in the same realm as him... Xu Jing is good albeit she is a bit cold... cant wait for the next chapter >< <<less

Currently one of my favourite novels at the moment first let get the cons out of the way.

Cons:

  • Typical cookie cutter xianxia story
  • Weak side characters
  • little world building
Pros:

  • Easy to understand cultivation
  • MC reminds me of those old masters at the end of novels who been through a lot, a nice change of pace (neither hot blooded nor to cold)
  • FAST PACED STORY this alone is worth 2 stars for me. Things happen, in 200 chapters this novel accomplishes what others will take 500 with.

Since the very beginning, I notice the novel has a very obvious problem, and that is story purpose. Other similar novel may have the same flow from being weak to strong, but along the way, there are story like arranged marriage, finding treasure, clan building, making money, saving people, and so on. But this novel is like having all those but barely touch them (this is what usually interesting because power means to be used for a purpose). This novel spend more on tournament and cultivation technique, which is boring... more>> as hell, because there is no end of beating Mr.A, mr.B and so on.

One of his enemy wants to make me sick, mr.A loves the MC's cousin and want to show off his school infront of MC in restaurant, but failed. Then he wants to kill? Logically, he should have to be good to his future wife family, like paying the bill, instead of making a scene. I really dont understand martial artist anymore. They seems like killing machine to me in this novel.

Overall, I still appreciate this novel for spending my time, especially since it released by Qidian frequently. <<less

As of right now I have it on top of my reading list with Nine Cauldrons, Lord Xue Ying and a few more. A very enjoyable read.

To highlight the positives. Cultivation is easy to understand and MC focuses on few things done well. Compared to novels like ISSTH, where MC has 47 different cultivation paths, MC in this novel trains sword, body and movement as major arts and fists/fingers as minor.

Another positive is MC is not a lunatic. He does not kill for no reason and does not go on... more>> killing sprees, because he got angry. And when somebody insults him, he does not try to kill him regardless of consequences. He is calm and logical.

Last positive the scenery of the story varies often and to good extend.

Overall, for me the novel takes standard template and does it simply and well. <<less

As of chapter 18, I honestly think that this novel would have been better off not being a transmigration story. His past life/experiences don't even contribute to anything. In fact, it feels like the author's excuse to give the original martial artist character a personality and op boost. Why can't he just try hard??!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Hahhaha that being said, the story isn't that bad. Good to read if you're bored

Overrated generic xianxia cultivation novel. This novel was ok to read the first arc just to grasp what kind of novel the author is presenting and the world building involved. However, this novel is extremely lazy and full of fillers. If you've read more than 10 or so xianxia cultivation novels, you'll see that this novel brings nothing interesting to the table. It is generic and bland as bland can be.

  1. There is no over arching plot line. This could be missing parents, missing lover, some secret that needs to be solved. There is nothing really that is keeping me reading. If a novel as a interesting mystery or plot line that needs to be resolved, I'll often keep reading even if the journey there gets stale. This novel really has nothing. The MC just wants to become the strongest. This is an extremely boring way to move story forward. All the plots involve MC trying to become stronger, meeting random people, killing random monsters, finding random treasure, random random random. You see my point.
  2. Way too many fillers. This ties into the first point. Because the novel has no point, the author fills arcs with bland generic enemies and rival geniuses just for the MC to beat them. There are WAY, WAY too many 'ranking tournaments'. Basically a bunch of geniuses come together. Some are MC's enemies. Some are just there. A lot of pointless fights take up a lot of chapters. The MC fights a lot of people, which also takes up a lot of chapters. Other types of fillers exist, such as people trying to kill the MC over and over again, often due to their standard xianxia mental problems, this happens often and takes up many chapters. Too many auctions, where pointless bidding wars take up many chapters. The MC ends up winning some stuff which another party wants and thus more pointless conflict starts.
  3. Zero romance, I despise celibate dickless MC stories that are solely focused on cultivation and can't even make time to flirt with women or even show that they are attracted to women. When he sees even the most top tier beautiful women, he acts like he's too cool for school and nonchalant.
  4. Cheat power is boring and merely used for padding word count. The MC's only cheat is that he can comprehend martial arts manuals at ridiculous speed, thus making him way power because he can twice, thrice, or even more what a normal person at his cultivation can and thus his attacks are stronger. What this ends up being is that a lot of chapters are focused on him cultivating really fast and how he's comprehending random bullsh*t cultivation stuff the author makes up.

Actually liked the beginning, but MC is too much of a loner. When he is around people, it's usually fighting or some kind of tournament. Too much fighting in my opinion. More to life than cultivation, but please someone tell our MC. He's a cardboard character. Why even make this one about transmigration, was there a need for weak to strong..

This novel is average at best, its something to read when you waiting for other updates. I find myself skipping a lot of useless paragraphs where the author explaining the same idea or concept over and over again. The fight scenes are decent and female cultivators aren't really dumbed down like most other xianxa (except for his ex). This novel is "meh", it is not that good but its not that bad either.

This story follows the generic cultivation webnovel formula very closely so there aren't many surprises in it so far. His cheat is very simple, (combination of two souls) and there's no grandpa in a ring or hot chick in a box or weasel/ loli in stone to guide him along. That being said, it takes him two sentences to accept that he crossed over and less than a paragraph before he decides he has to get stronger as soon as possible. Why? Who knows? There's no reason give at... more>> all, not even the typical I need to get stronger to pay back those bullies bullsh*t reason.

most of the time it feels even more shallow than most novels so I should rate it a two, but it gets an extra star because it has one of the few MC's I've ever seen who use common sense on a rare occasion. He knows his abilities and his cultivation level and if he can't beat them, he will chose not to bother, especially in the beginning. He's also one of the few MC's I've read about who loses fights on occasion. True they're never the big important fights, but that he loses at all makes this story more interesting than it would otherwise be. <<less

Way too dry and boring, dropped.

Pro

    • Full of action, if you're into that.
    • The MC is not horrible.
    • The story doesn't drag on for no reason.
Con

    • First chapter is a joke : dude is a scientific student transmigrated into the body of a martial art weak teen. Immediately, of course, he plans to become stronger ASAP for no reason. The science dude? Completely forgotten in 3 lines. Really bad introduction.
    • Even Rocky Balboa had a motivation for training himself. Here, it feels so dry...
    • Full of technical dao infodump, given to you in the most boring way possible.

FIVE STARS!!!

I was getting a bit bored with the same old same old xianxia. I found this story to be be refreshingly addictive. I want more! I also like the fact that this MC is a decent human being. Driven and relentless, but still human.

Ok! This is not a good novel, It didn't had a lot of things that I don't like, but it still made me read it until the latest chapters, we can say it is guilty pleasure, I was mostly attracted to this novel due to no harem, but I stayed here because I wanted more of it.

The story mainly consist of training, and training a lot. Though I know that the merging of souls is nonsensical which resulted him in super talented (even in fantasy). But the story flows in... more>> way that it make you read it again and again.

My only complain with this novel is that the MC is not dominating enough, he isn't arrogant enough instead he acts always calm and don't even retaliate most of the time when someone bothers him.

I found the MC from Paradise of Demons and Gods to be the most dominating one, instead of this one. This makes the MC a bit bland and personality less, as his personality changes as the author dictates. <<less

This novel has many things that are common with other novels like "Stellar Transformation" - genius MC, hard training, strokes of fortune, getting key to some treasure trove, raising level at the right time... The world contains humans and beasts but it seems that beasts are not intelligent enough nor can they transform into human form. There are also different resources like spirit stones and plants but high quality training techniques/arts are rare and very few manage to achieve high level in cultivation (maybe mainly because of this and not... more>> because they can't comprehend something).

So far there is no romance (not even flirting) and not even some big friendship - there is mostly competition between all cultivators (and of course life-death battles for different reasons).

Basically, I'm lowering score for this novel because of few things:

    • Relationship between people is shallow, mostly competition and battles
    • MC has a cheat-like strong soul since chapter 1 and using his soul he can scan area around him, scan people's QI inside them and check the flow and even find flows in other people's techniques. What I don't like is that nobody else can do this even on a smaller scale, not even those cultivators which have much higher cultivation
    • There are no other intelligent races on the planet and I prefer when writer creates that kind of world. The world seems kind of empty, like common planet with nothing special in it, not even some strange phenomena which could offer some special opportunities.
    • Some battle scenes are poorly described and lack logic, like when MC was battling Li Daoxuan in chapter 276 - the way MC handled Silence ace attack makes no sense to me.
