Fun manhwa and novel. The system possesing a local in a fantasy world rather than a transmigrator or modern setting makes it better. The fantasy setting allows for more creative treatment as the MC could use fantasy alchemy, magic healing, modern surgery, magic, or a combination. This keeps things a bit more interesting.

While I love game/admin system medical stories they often feel the same and tend to lose focus midway. Many seem to lack a plot beyond the MC using system to become OP and get repetitive as a result.... more>> Dr. Player has a fleshed out background setting with its own plot and direction. This story seems to be working towards an actual conclusion and not just an end goal of becoming OP. <<less

I finished it with 507 chapters. Main story ended in 452. The rest is side stories/sequel Overall, I could say it's decent although the flow is really predictable. It started with Raymond, the illegitimate son of the kind of Houston, known for the knight kingdom. He had a pitiful life as an illegitimate son, got abused, ignored, etc... he decided to become a healer when he discovered his healing power. unfortunately, no matter what he did, the power didn't manifest, and stuck as a low-rank healer. until the system appeared... more>> and appoint him as a surgeon. he got knowledge about Earth's medical stuff and use that to heal people with medicine. there is a lot of prejudice at first because everyone believes in healing power. it's kinda funny when people just have their own conclusion that he did it because he loves the people and patients but in reality, all he wishes is to become rich and pay off his debt which never will happened because it keep increasing hahaha. the scenario is repetitive. some problems happened, system mission, he did the mission eventually while making them misunderstand, his reputation rise, people love him, and vice versa but each scene is enough for me. Quite enjoyable I think. the world-building, for magic, it's a bit narrow.... It's a world with magic that exists but there are only a few scenes where magic like wind, fire, earth, etc... appeared like fr, it's understandable tho since this is focused on medicine. just a bit disappointed. The antagonists are baka. but there are some that got their redemption tbh.
Spoiler

He helped people and heal them, becoming the light of each country/kingdom he land on and eventually becoming the emperor (he keep denying it every time he was assigned to be the crown prince lol) and a king of mankind after the title of savior of mankind. We can also expect there would be a family past plot twist. turns out that Raymond's mom is the former crown princess of the big kingdom known for trading/merchants. his father, that king regrets his decision to neglect him because of his duty as a king :V and yes, there is romance, it comes late though there is a lot of women appear and become his ally, the one he ended up with is the former empress of a great kingdom but got dethrone or smthg so she end up coming to MC's kingdom then met him and eventually got attracted to him and tada~

[collapse]
about his power, well, he can buy skills in the system, sometimes perks he got from completing the mission.

P.s. MC is naive and oblivious, the Female lead's the one who propose first ksks <<less

MC isn't reincarnated but gains knowledge from our world, so functionally it's like a transmigration/reincarnation novel. I appreciate how the reason why people lack medical knowledge isn't because of the annoying "people were s*upid and had absolutely no knowledge in the past" trope, but because of how societal norms were formed in a world where magic is the primary healing agent.

It's not deep and it's written simply, but it's a solid, entertaining story. If you like underdog stories you'll probably like it. Translation can be kind of weird about wordage,... more>> but it's perfectly understandable. <<less

I just finished this novel a long ago. And here I could say that it was the first novel about hospitals that I've like so far. I'm not fond of it because of the terminal terms but when I read this novel, it really helps me to understand what it is all about and why would you do that.

MC was a misunderstood person but not really.

He is a greedy person that he wants to have honor and wealth as a doctor. He has a lot of honor but so poor with his a lot of dept lol. But because of his oath as a doctor, he will treat everyone even though they don't have enough money or he hates them

This seems to be a well-written story. However, because of a few premises that I felt were not suitable, I did not continue reading.
It is a king with 4 queens, a regime that accepts polygamy but harsh treatment of illegitimate children.
SPL
Spoiler

Someone mentioned this was the king's scheme to manipulate the royal family. However, for me, this is completely bad for the main character.

[collapse]

Due to this indignation, I tried to find the end of the king.
Spoiler

Chapter 215, He will have a fatal disease and take him to MC's territory to be treated. MC feels calm, because he has no feelings for the king, fortunately MC still hates him.

Of course, the MC agreed to the treatment at an expensive price.

In Chapter 218, the MC proposes that one of the costs of getting a cure is to enact new laws, punishing guilty parents (including the king).

The king regretted and officially apologized to the MC in chapter 244.
It's appalling.
Of course, I was still angry that the MC's resentment was overshadowed by the situation where the noble council agreed to make him crown prince.

Ending
Spoiler

Although I didn't read the ending, it looks like he will pick up an artifact that has the ability to reach Earth. The ending is his wedding to a girl, probably named Rose. Yes, and I still see the king's name in this last chapter

I do reccomend giving this a read.

Doctor Player follows the life of Raymond, the disowned and shunned son of the great king. In an attempt to gain any sort of status and accolades he goes into Healing. However he has no talent in magic/healing, as he is about to give up he gains the ability of Modern Medicine tm. The premise and main story line goes through his journey of trying to make a name for himself using Modern Medicine tm.

My reccomendation of this novel is solely because the main... more>> character is very fun to watch. He has quite a bit of plot armour and the "villains" of the story are cartoon-ishly evil. However the MC is just fun to watch because he's very optimistic and the solutions found are dumb fun. And isn't having fun a good reason to enjoy something? <<less

This is not a bad read as long as you don't mind extremely weak-minded characters and repetitive progression. I enjoyed the novel up until around 200+ chapters when things start to fall into a predictable pattern and MC becomes more cowardly and there were less instances of him actually standing up for his patients, which I think are vital for redeeming his otherwise very unworthy qualities.

The system is interesting and I am forcing myself to finish the novel so I can find out more about it (this and if he... more>> every actually becomes rich), about the ancient civilization, etc. It is a tad overpowered but it can't be helped since MC needed the supplementary skills to basically copy the modern technological level of current Earth medical science.

MC's character can be characterized at the beginning as timid, greedy, ambitious, but has a heart for his patients. The author seems to want to portray him as a money-grubbing doctor (in his head) but misunderstood by everyone as impossibly noble (in the eyes of everyone else) but the readers will see him as actually selfless (because we can see how he acts against his greed). And at the beginning, it does seem like that. The arc with him in the slums crying over patients he had lost was quite poignant. Readers will find humor in how MC can't even see himself properly. But a few hundred chapters after that, he just seems really greedy and cowardly but conveniently misunderstood by everyone around him. He actively tries to manipulate public opinion and even seriously considers not helping patients right in front of him unless the systems urges and intervenes and he finally finds a reason to treat said patient (because he will benefit). At this point, it made me think that he isn't actually kind; he is just too cowardly and timid to cause harm. I am not sure that is really a virtue.

The plot unfolds very predictably after some point. He is embroiled in a political scheme. He wants nothing to do with it and tries hard not to treat patients. But then, he realizes his dreams of becoming rich is affected and so he (timidly) steps up. I do appreciate that he is somewhat consistent but reading the same thoughts over and over again tend to kill what little humorous edge it had before. Eventually, he realizes who is the real big bad behind all the tragedies and seriously considered just absconding without even thinking to stop that after all he had done at that point, he would be their first target if they should ever come out victorious. For a doctor, he isn't very sharp. <<less
