But when she opened her eyes, she discovered, to her very horror, that she had returned twelve years into the past…

Looking at the beautiful and awkward big brother that would be conferred the title of General in the future for outstanding military service, she almost let out a snort of laughter.

She firmly decided to hug this big brother’s thigh and climb to the top of her life!

It was a beautiful plan, but it had just one problem.

Why had this big brother… suddenly turned into…

A big sister…

If you're looking for a revolutionary piece of flawless writing, DKGWF won't be it, and you shouldn't start reading it in the hopes that it is. If you're looking for a fun, light, and easy novel that'll give you warm fuzzies after reading it, though, it'll fit that to a T and won't disappoint at all.

The MC is hilariously outspoken (if immature), the FL is an adorable badass doof, and they fall in love right under the noses of patriarchal ancient China. What more could you ask for, really?
It's... more>> not a perfect novel, but I can ignore and forgive the imperfectness because it still makes me happy.

Except the first extra.
The first extra does not make me happy. It makes me confused and frankly a bit concerned. It's so weird and out of place that I briefly considered not translating it altogether.

Decent novel, otherwise.

If you're wondering why, as the translator, I gave the novel only 3-stars... well, a C is still a passing grade, you know? I believe in honesty. With the syntax and word variation problems I had while translating, as well as my minor gripes with the helter-skelter plot and weird extras, I think 3 stars is appropriate for me to give. I'll never say that I regretted translating it, either. Read it for yourself and draw your own conclusions, loves. <<less

The story is early on with only two chapters out. I think it is interesting so far, The pacing is nice and it's even a bit interesting that the MC was more of what you'd say a snobbish noble before she choked on a melon.

I am really disliking the father as of now, I keep on hoping something happens to him to get him out of the story. I like the idea that this is gonna be a story between the MC, Mother and the now Sister.

story : 3.5/5

characters : 3.5/5

writing style : 2.5/5

... more>> fluff (second half) : 4/5

To be honest, I was hesitating between 3 and 4 stars here... x'D the start is pretty generic but the setting is plainer than most novel on this theme. The MC is... real annoying for half of the story. She goes back in time, but the only cheat that gives her is that she knows she won't be happy marrying that guy and the love interest has a nice thigh to hug. It also lacks details, it's hard to imagine the characters and scenery (is the MC beautiful or just ok-looking, make up your mind author...)

The middle part of the story (chap 15-27-ish) was a mess (the author did confess it got out of his/her hands). But after chap 30, it was quite a nice surprise to see the author getting somewhere :)

The thing I reproach to this novel is that the author put quite a few elements that needs long development to be interest and a pros for a story but then left it rot or added unnecessary drama with forced logic because... there's just no time for that. I was considering giving up before the relationship really start in the later third of the novel.

it isn't a bad read, but not a good one either. It's so unfair that there's good yaoi with interesting plot out there but no yuri like that x'D the japanese seems better at yuri with the villainess theme anyway.

tldr : only if you're looking specifically for a chinese shoujo-ai story. <<less

Greeting folks!

So, if there's one I do recommend before reading this, is just that, try not to go in there with the mindset of comparing this to Female General and Eldest Princess novel.

This story is unique on it's own. I'm no good of describing what I feel of each novel I had read (and given I had read this one a long time ago) but it was sweet romance (for me, that is). Some of what they did is based on they upbringing and their surroundings! Each of the author... more>> had their own perspective of that.

The near ending chapter is what I really like the most! :D <<less

Story was short but super cute! MC and ML are an adorable pair and couple goals. My only gripe is to take the ending as true ending and ignore the epilogues and alternate headcanons the author wrote as those pretty much ruined her story. I don't know why she thought her real ending was poor as it's a fitting and satisfying end.

Not a bad novel but not the best in the genre. Better than the other general novel and eldest princess yuri novel I read at least. The 2 characters are much more lovable and my only complaint would be the plot. It really feels like the author ran out of ideas on how to progress the plot properly because the MC reincarnated but she had no cheat since she always stayed at home.

Basically it's just a novel to read when bored, not really a top yuri novel for me.

Rong Jiahui has spent 8 years in a pointless marriage, unhappy and envious of the luck of other women. When she hears of Marquis Zhongli Luo returning from the battlefield, victorious and apparently looking for a wife, she regrets treating him coldly when he was being fostered in her home as a child.

Cue a climactic death via choking, and Jiahui is back in the past! This time she plans on thoroughly wooing Zhongli Luo so that she may secure a happy future. Of course, things aren't that easy when Zhongli... more>> Luo is actually a cross dressing woman.

The book plainly stated from the beginning that Jiahui is a little spoiled, self-centred and values herself over others. So I was actually quite happy to see her progress from thinking of Zhongli Luo as her one-sidedly declared future husband, to her actually liking Zhongli Luo.

Zhongli Luo on the other hand, seems to he painfully shy and introverted, speaking only when spoken to and it barely changes as the story progresses.

Both MC and FL are coded as bis*xual or something along those lines, for it seems as if they could have been happy marrying men as well. Even Jiahui was fine with pursuing Zhongli Luo when she thought of him as a man, though her affections did not change when knowing her true gender.

A fun, short and sweet story. Nothing too spectacular, but it was enjoyable nonetheless. Kudos to the translator as well, they've done a great job!

The beginning was hilarious but I couldn't stand the main character. Even after she had some character development, there was something unlikable about her. She always came off as entitled, somewhat abusive, and very immature despite being an adult based on how long she's been alive. I did however enjoy the general's character. There was some fluff but I feel like that didn't save the story.

The extras were also a train wreck. Don't read the extras, it'll just ruin your impression of the overall novel.

Female General and Eldest Princess was... more>> way better than this. I'd recommend that more because of the better story and character development. <<less

Jiahui (MC) character is the reason you should read this novel. (Like a down to earth character)

Some novels Give too much credits to their MC or FL.

Greetings,

This novel is a good read. I mean it's not the greatest but not the lowest either. The plot is interesting and it was funny at some points. The pace is not to rush, imo. The only thing J could say is, givr this a try. Not gonna regret it. The translation was easy to follow (even though at first I had a doubt that this would be a horrible one ?).

I never thought that I would like it this much. It's a pretty generic story, but somehow I snorted loudly and giggled while reading this. It's the kind of story you read without thinking much and looking for a brief entertainment, but still be surprised by how amusing the interaction between these 2 is.

It's truly a sweet story.

But, I couldnt imprint this as GL/yuri novel in my mind even when the translator changed the FL/General's pronoun to she/her in her narration/pov.

It's like reading a BG novel. And the reason for that is the whole military and hiding her identity as woman to the world imo. There's just NO sense of yuri.

After reading 'Female General and Eldest Princess' as my first Yuri novel, I started to search for other similar sounding titles. I didn't really like the MC in this novel for being so proactive in pursuing the FL just because she knew that 'he' would gain a status which was equal to her father's which was inherited through generations.

She was being too overbearing and likes blaming the FL without giving her a chance to explain. The setting is also confusing, to the point where I don't really remember the other... more>> characters' names, so many cousins, etc. The FL's identity was exposed and her reaction to the MC is lukewarm like just saying 'yes' to everything, not having her own opinion.

Spoiler

The part where she wanted to travel such a long distance to see the FL didn't really save the story since her actions made her family mad and worried, deaths of tens of escorts, the FL's back wounded by a slash from enemies but still have to carry her since she can't swim.

[collapse]

The translation is quite good, I even have a few laughs reading the translator's notes than the actual story.

Spoiler

I think I slightly regretted reading the story as it was all a dream and she woke up to her 'death' of choking on the melon, she just divorce the poor Liu guy and forces the FL to marry her...

It’s good, and while not the most mind-rending fantastic reading experience it was a fun read. I really liked how even though MC’s the “girlier” one of the two, she’s also the one who did chased the FL while the FL’s the more passive star-struck one lol. Both the MC and FL are very cute and work well together. FL is adorably head over heels For MC although oblivious to her feelings and quite passive. Plot wise it’s honestly Pretty shallow even though FL is a general. It’s mostly watching... more>> the two get together, no political schemes or huge drama, and while the beginning is quite good, the middle drags on quite a bit and gets a bit dramatic towards the end.

That said, MC can be a lot. For better or worse, she’s quite spoiled, willful and childish but I do enjoy how she’s the more aggressive of the two in this romance compared to the general FL who let’s MC drive the relationship most of the time. Do give it a shot, due to it’s shallow nature, it ends up being an entertaining but light read. <<less

It was an easy read. I can't give it a higher score because it's not a oneshot so I can't loosen my standards for it, and the plot really just... I mean it's very simple. It's a fun read, but it doesn't really do much besides give you a fluffy romance.

Characters: 3/5

They were average, I wasn't particularly moved by either of them but the MC is funny.

... more>> Plot: 3/5

I mean... I'm reviewing this a few weeks after I've read it and I have a hard time remembering much. It was very forgettable but I remember enjoying it well enough while I read it.

Romance: 3/5

I would honestly give it a lower score just cause I hate this cliche with cross-dressing yuri, but I'll be fair and just say it was still enjoyable. It was cute, but the mistaken gender thing really does suck a lot of the fun out for me.

All in all, I would still recommend reading it if you're on a shortage of yuri, but it's nothing that amazing. <<less
