People not reading even the first arc complaining about this beautiful story made me made an account to write a review.

Let me clear up, the main points that other people have pointed out.

MC is naive and foolish.

... more>> No he is not, he has been trained to become a soldier since he is a teenager. That's just how his character is. He is a great soldier because that's what he trained for.

And as for his emotional growth. We see a lot of it starting the second arc.

This novel is a great "just trust the process."

ML has no redeeming qualities. Or he is just a jerk.

If you actually read the novel, you will find all of his actions are pretty much justifiable. If I was him, I would too hate the federation with all my body and soul.

Now for the actual review, it took me around a week to finish it. I completed three manhuas in between. But I would always come back to this for some reason.

The author did an wonderful job with tying up everything. I don't think there were any loopholes, even if there were they were negligible. I hated the characters at time, then again, no one was actually bad (except some), and the sacrifices they made moved me so much I forgot the hate I felt.

The side characters did a good job too. It had everything, a good plotline, chemistry between the leads, sci-fi part was done well, the angst felt angsty, that enemies with weird tension thing, strong characters with visible growth, a lot of papapa.

And it was the first time I cried reading a happy ending. Like I was crying for an hour after reading the last chapter. Even it was the most beautiful and fitting ending for both the leads and for the humanity.

I would definitely say give it a chance, chances are rather low that it will disappoint you. <<less

first thing first. This is not a polygamy story it is definitely a 1v1. The fact that the MC stayed true to his beliefs are a relief and sometimes irritating, but you'll realize that that's how he grew up and understand things, that's how his character was molded. Despite a very very poor title, this story is pretty amazing. The main character is a « good soldier « that lives by one old army motto « thinking is already desobeing ». He’s a elite warriors that take pride in his country and abide by the law and the orders he’s given with blind faith in the goodness of the decisions that are made for him. That makes him a little bit s*upid when it comes to assessing his own feeling, or even worse, making important decisions. He’s intelligent,... more>> but outside of combat proficiency he’s not so « autonomous, and he’s happy with it.

for all of that, he will accept to wed the ultimate enemy of the Federation. Someone he will « never » understand, forgive, let even -love - as he has been the nemesis of mankind for no less than 2000 years. But it’s an order, énd for the good of all, he sill sacrifice.... little does he know that this will be the beginning of making him a full fledge « human « with a working heart and brain... and that will be immensely good to read.

So there we are, no r*pe, (thanks god), no adsurd relationship development (yeah he’s not the kind to fraternize with the enemy, which is really goo) but after a slow start there will be quite a lot of action, intrigues, slowly revealing some quite heavy policical background. It never has time to get boring as the story develope in an ever changing universe (think : there is a lot more than space op in there,). Slow discovery, and puzzle bits, will slowly but surely bring our « simple » guy, to learn so much about that very famous enemy and the very dirty secrets of his own « country ». with all hope that love will grow to infinity and beyond, despite and maybe thanks to that harsh environment

It is deep, very entertaining, and quite believable as far as humans interactions are involved (i can’t say about the science, it still sci fi ;)). There is food for the brain and for the heart.

it is not « light « by any mean, which is very satisfactory in my humble opinion, so çf you care for a good plot, by all mean, please read this.

I love the story. At first my impression on ML is not good but once you read the story behind his hatred and what happened before war, you will love him. He acts like a bastard infront of the fedaration but it is just to fool them. He is a nice guy with a broken heart. He only love one person that is why his behavior with the MC is complicated but it will be better, I dont want to give a spolier. Dont worry he never like Ouyang :p

I started reading this due to the many positive reviews but the s*upidity is driving me crazy.

Review as of chapter 20-

The MC is s*upidly naive and ML is a disgusting piece off shit. Seriously ML being 2000 yr old should have his sh*t together but no he acts like a 5 yr old throwing tantrums.

... more>> Also the MC agreeing and continuing the sham marriage even after getting proof of treason is baffling. Also letting that traitor Ouyang liu escape. Wtf.

ML is manipulative bastard while MC is a naive soldier. I will continue for now.

Let's see what happens in the end. Since I've started it I will complete it.

Edit after completion: Fine fine I agree that this turned out better than expected but the first arc (especially the MC and ML personality) really can turn off people. My favourite would be the second arc. MC actually somewhat matures and ML also gets some character development which makes them much more likeable. A good sci-fi and time paradox story. I may edit this review once I read further if this novel redeems itself but as of now--- setting your readers up with an initial grudge against an unreasonable, arrogant ass hat then, presumably and according to the reviews, slowly revealing him as a tragic misunderstood victim is not an appealing method (however prevalent and popular this tired tactic may be amongst the masses) for those of us with moral uprightness. I mean, come on...

How could you not know your long awaited bridal party is coming (!?!) and destroy their fleet-almost killing your bride and definitely killing 9 innocent people-then ditching everyone for three more months of almost dying, followed by acting like a spoiled (12 year old) princess upon finally meeting and STILL EXPECT HIM TO LIKE YOU? Not to mention the enmity of their nations... This dude is supposed to be almost 2000 years old, so why is he such an idiot?!

I'm disappointed since the novel started out really promising and then dissolved into crap quickly due to the ML.

Ch 21 review update-this novel is such complete tr*sh, I can hardly describe it. From nonsensical, huge gaping logic holes (why would the MC be so determined to carry out the marriage / peace agreement when he has evidence that the ML is conspiring with a traitor to break the agreement before its even settled? Why is there a huge city for only a hundred people? -just to name a couple-a small fraction of the nonsensical crap in this novel) to forced s*x and emotional manipulation by the ML.

I want the last two hours of my life back!! <<less

Rating: 5/5- Yoh, Yoh, Yoh!!! I did not expect this story at all when I started it.

The first few chapters were kind of dull and when I was introduced to the MC, I felt he was very dull and rigid. Continuing through the first arc I was shell shocked at how unlikeable the ML was and the dog blood was spiralling.

Then bam! Second arc happened and I was hooked! Apocalypse, greed, betrayal, action parked drama and plenty gore! A love story similar to titanic but set at the end of... more>> the world and character growth like you won’t believe. I ended up staying up all night to finish this book.

I admit there are plenty plot holes and things that don’t make a lick of sense, but overall I liked this. I eventually liked both leads and seeing them grow and conquer to the end was satisfying.

The end left me melancholic even though it was a good ending. It’s quite sad that there are no winners in war and you can never redeem what is owed to you. Everyone made massive mistakes and the consequences were evident.

When everything was said I done- I still wanted to know what secret Ouyang Liu had to tell Mozun...

Overall an emotionally taxing, whirlwind apocalypse galactic battle that’s enjoyable if you just read it without thinking too much. Don’t think too much- you won’t enjoy it as much. <<less

I never wrote a review for any other fic before but I really feel like the low rating is too unjustified. This story is something special. Don't be fooled by the title. This story is deep and maintains constant tension, with consistent characters, an equal relationship between the MC and ML, an interesting story involving a lot of sci-fi elements and politics, but most of all, an epic romance. Though the author takes a lot of creative liberties with the science and sometimes with the plot, it is always explained... more>> in an exciting, imaginative way. Second arc is my fav though, because of how sweet the MC and ML were. And NO DUBCON! ML sincerely won over the MC's heart and even though he had chances to force MC, he never did. I really loved this, even more than other popular apocalypse/interstellar themed BL fics out there that I've read.

A lot of people seem to not like the MC's character because of his rigidness, but I think people fail to understand his background. He is not like us. He is a military soldier who has known nothing other than carrying out his missions. Falling in love with the enemy is essentially asking him to die. I got so emotionally invested even in the first arc and I could feel how all the plot points contributed to his character growth. Of course he can't immediately change the way he behaves! Suddenly betraying his nation would be OOC. I always hated how MCs in other stories often seem to forget all about their family or their loyalties after meeting the ML so I was glad that the author continued to make family as an important factor for the MC.

I read the entire story in one day because I was so addicted! I'm so glad I read this after it was completed, otherwise I would not be able to handle all the angst and cliffhangers. The ending was so worth it. I just love Wu Xingyun and Ye Fan so much. There isn't much fluff, but with the way they fought for and kept on proving their love for each other, it was more than enough to satisfy my romantic heart. Suspend some disbelief, but honestly, this was just overall such a fun, fast-paced and memorable story.

This novel was not for me. I enjoyed the second and third arch much more than the first arch, my recommendation is to skip the first arch all together and start the story at chapter 40

The first arch of this novel (first 39 chapters) is tedious. The plot twist is obvious. The MC is a one dimensional cardboard cutout of a soldier and the ML is a jerk (I’m being polite)

I got tired of reading about how much the MC wished his commander was around to tell him what to do

When MC went back to the Federation to be a witness at a military tribunal his commander wrote out his deposition and coached the MC for weeks on the correct tone of voice and movements to make during the trial

ML has no redeeming characteristics

The translator notes at the end of each chapter are exhausting. I took math, physics and biology classes in college. I don’t need refresher courses (citing sources!) at the end of each chapter fragment. I’m reading for adventure and romance. I wish the notes were marked in some way so I could skip them easier

The second arch is better, 2 out of 5. The ML and MC become more 3 dimensional. We already know what the end will be so there is no tension or surprises. Still too many translator footnotes

The third arch is the stand out, although the characters stopped growing and regressed a bit. The plot was interesting and the ending was satisfying. Not as many footnotes

If the first 39 chapters are ignored this would be a 4 star novel, those first chapters are truly horrible. There is a reason for the one star reviews and the numbers of readers who drop this

People who didn't read past ch50 who rated low aren't worth listening to. This is a great novel. The way it's spun the way they came together, the MC's growth... They're also so wonderfully weaved together. I quite like how the CP were so fated. It's angsty because of how we follow the story sequence and my heart feels bad for ML for enduring so many years before he actually got his lover back. MC is secretly mischievous I feel because of how he kept mum the whole time. But... more>> its quite understandable. I wish there's more lovey dovey interactions instead of fade to black papapa

Ooodilally....

If you're looking for a light fluffy story, this ain't it.

It gets pretty dark, exploring the destruction of human and societal bonds in the face of apocalyptic adversity, but there is some truly brilliant writing and I hear a happy ending.

... more>> You'll have to forgive the ML at the beginning. He's had a lot of character development happen without us or the MC.

And the translation is great... except for the long a** wikipedia footnotes at the ends of some chapters. Those are annoying, but informative. The science behind the science fiction.

Anywho, skipping those, this is not a story about some lucky couple who through cheats and an OP ML conquer the stars.

This is a story about two people with divided purpose and insane personal strength, still getting their butts handed to them by life. And despite betrayal after betrayal, disaster after disaster, and plenty of misunderstandings, still found more worth in being each other's companion than anything else in the universe.

Very much a "Love conquers All, but not without a damn terrible war" sort of story.

I won't say it's perfect. The side characters and villains are a little flat. The story is just so focused on the MCs and their trials, that we don't get a lot of time with the people around them.

Completely worth the read if you're into mature story lines and don't mind a bit of grief to get to an "And they lived Happily Ever After". <<less

2/5 for now. I don't know... I feel like there's too many nonsensical things mashed together.

This is panning out to be an angsty tug and pull romance with a sad backstory, which I usually really like. The main couple is alright, but every other event that happens is breaking the immersion.

It's supposed to be a political marriage, but the reasoning behind the political marriage was pretty unbelievable to me. The whole way the procession of the marriage took place, the hostility, some events during the procession, etc. are kind of... more>> confusing and counterintuitive.

There is this one off-the-charts dude who is like the definition of treason even in home waters, but they just let him run off to the demons.

And the demons are letting them set up a base, conduct research, etc. on their home planet. I am totally not understanding this arrangement.

And the list kind of goes on. Just a bunch of things here and there that I don't get are happening and characters doing things that don't make sense to me. <<less

Whis is a well-spun interstallar+apocalypse story with a love that defied time and space. Romance is matured and non-fluffy. Took me 2 weeks to finish but it's intricacies made me stay. The first arc made me cry but it's all warm in the 2nd and 3rd. Lots of papapa scenes starting 2nd arc. Not dog blood, just angsty. Bit of incubator baby at the last arc. Ended beautifully, it's a pretty good Sci fi novel. I enjoyed reading it despite the pain at the beginning. There are those little dumb... more>> areas as other reviewers point out but for me it's just a minor thing and most of it will be cleared but as it goes on by combining together the past and present scenes.

As for Mozun or Nightshard in english, he isn't really a "devil" per se. The entire population are actually human mutants and it will be all revealed in the second arc as MC more or less transmigrated in a sci fi way. So just enjoy those heartaches and let the story slowly unfold including the MC's relation to Mozun's dead lover. <<less

This is an absolutely beautiful novel that is a wonderful mix of drama, angst, mystery, action, and a little humor.

The beginning is chaotic and melancholy, as MC is thrown into circumstances beyond his control. He is a soldier in the purest sense, obeying commands without question and valuing loyalty above all else, so he diligently works toward carrying out his duty. At the same time, ML is a BIG FAT JERK who has his own motives behind the marriage, which causes a fair amount of heartbreak and distress for MC.

Many... more>> themes are quickly evoked including allegiance vs authority vs autonomy, coping with the death of a loved one, the loneliness of eternal life, and finding love after losing a partner. In particular, ML struggles to separate himself creating parallels between MC and his old lover.

As the story progresses, MC's character changes for the better as ML's past is revealed. Naturally, this is a happy ending, and completing this novel that leaves one with a feeling of emptiness like all good novels do. <<less

My heart hurts.

Reading something full of angst isn't my style, but I decided to give it a go.

As expected, the first arc was full of pain, I thought I would take it, but in the end I cried. Honestly, whenever the MC "stabbed" the ML, I couldn't stop feeling pain for him, all I wanted was his happiness and my disgust for the MC's rigid personality only increased (of course, ML wasn't entirely innocent, but I unconsciously took his side)

The second arc reminded me of the title of the... more>> first episode of Attack on Titan, “To you, 2000 years from now” and I found it sweet compared to the first. In this second arc I learned to like the MC (since he irritated me so much with the fact that he always followed orders and ended up hurting the ML in the process.) and I also started to like the ML more.

In the third arc, everything continued sweetly and the ending was satisfying, but I couldn't help but feel sad remembering everything they went through to get there, I ended up crying again but the sadness came accompanied by a sense of relief.

In short, despite the holes in the plot, it didn't end up overshadowing the wonderful story. <<less

This novel is a real rollercoaster ride. I'm too prideful not to get annoyed by the fact that I hated this with every fiber of my being from the very start until it actually got better, but I admit that things do improve. It's just that the entire first arc (the war and forced marriage) is excessively dramatic, I broke the railing of my bed and made my voice hoarse from anger while reading it. :Knife: I genuinely wanted to cuss out the author. In fact, my original review expressed... more>> a lot of my initial feelings (I'm just editing this review as I go).

I started hatereading right at the fifth chapter because the MC was in such an annoyingly bad position. He can't win no matter where he sides and the drama was so excessive. There were too many things going on with the plot that made me laugh in anger while thinking, "This novel doesn't know what it's supposed to be." The author, who I have a love-hate relationship with, uses too many plot devices in one that it can make you question why the hell you're taking time out of your day to read this shit. Seriously, make up your mind. Why combine so many different genres in one? If the way they unraveled mysteries wasn't surprisingly good, I would've thought the plot was decorated with sh*t for shock factor and "angst" that is just excessive drama. (But, actually, I might've been right about the latter.) If you're like me, the story is annoying, but you should keep reading. Things do get better for the MC.

However, I cannot tolerate anyone who sympathizes with the ML. While I did accept the ML because of the second arc, I still strongly disapprove of him behaving like a f*cking emo teen who needs therapy. He expects so much from the MC and projects his dead lover on him then lashes out on him. He's so clearly emotionally unstable. That doesn't get any f*cks from me. Sad or not, heartbroken or not, he was a scumbag.

To be clear though, I still dislike the story. I was appeased but not pleased. I'm only here and feeling better because things are looking up for the MC.

In the end, I didn't really like the ML. Usually, I'd fawn over both the MC and ML in a story but not this time. I understand why the ML behaved the way he did, but I never ended up liking him that much or feeling anything about their romance.

Idk how the rest of you felt it was angsty. Personally, I was just annoyed by the characters and their relationships. Does the author have a kink for getting cuckolded? Why were there two whole b*tches who wanted to f*ck the ML and tried seducing him? They weren't even subtle about it. The ending is so-so. The only time I cried reading this was when the MC's dad died after being relieved that he was safe. I just felt like the author made me eat a bag of daggers and then took them out for me, acting like they weren't the one who fed me those and they didn't even heal or give me first aid for my throat and stomach damaged by the daggers. It wasn't satisfying to read this. The author just threw us a knife, explained why they threw it then ran. Drama < why the ML is the way he is < more drama five chapters before the end < anticlimactic resolution and final ending.___. I never felt truly happy for the couple. I was just happy the MC was happy and treated better. Hm. <<less

If you like angst, you would love this so much. This novel had really make your heart ache too much. And the drama does not lost to tv drama this day!!.

fist I thought ML love MC. And then after MC killed ml, it actually ML deceived the MC because he want to revenge to MC (MC the only one who can shot him) . So pretend to love MC, married him just so when he died, his people would killed MC (wtf bro) , and then MC save the ml, and somehow they felt in love for a moment (MC had the same face as ml's deceased lover. But however, ML pulled his scum self back and wake up from their love romance and become a scum again. So MC sad and go back to earth. ML kept remembering MC, chase the wife back to earth. There a mission to killed ML again. And once again the one who given task is MC. And damn MC shot ML again. ML so sad. He want to killed MC but he love him. So he ran away while caught him. The earth military want to sacrifice MC by sending bomb/nuclear. The ML doesn't want to let go MC, but MC doesn't want ML to die with him so he pushed ML and he got lost in blackhole. And back to the past (zombie arc before MC become the bad leader in the futuristic) where he actually was the ML LOVER. Mf plot. And bla bla bla he back to future again after 20 years by another blowing to black hole. And reunion with ML in the future. ML also know that MC is his past lover and spoiled him rotten. The only sweet that I can taste is that the ML don't want to let go the MC for about 3 days (the ML hunger for hundred years is savage!) as they xxx in the ship on the way back to their planet. That a new alien come to earth. And earth asked help from ML and MC. So they help the earth as MC family is on earth.

Dropped because it seemed the drama is endless. The angsty plot kept coming back. This novel is bad for my fluffy heart. It too heartache, too much betrayal from MC and then and the sweet moment is not enough. The sweet is not enough and it still taste bitter. The novel is writen nicely, easy to mtl only it had heavy plot not as light novel like described by the synopsis

I can't believe I hadn't reviewed this yet. I reread it just to make sure I still enjoyed it; and I can now confidently say that yes, I quite like this story. The twists are good and the plot holes are filled. There's mystery and romance, conflict and resolution. The only unfulfilled bit is the second male lead. He's not perfect, but his ending is so brave and sad. The second gripe I have is that the MC and ml's character both change in slightly unexpected, only partially justifiable ways.... more>> The MC goes from a socially inept and overly literal guy who is brave and militarily competent beyond measure to an overly protected and constantly sexed partner. The ML is supposedly a star student who is innocent and sweet, but quickly changes to a teasing rascal who will do almost anything for survival.

That said, I thought the plot was quite clever in the way it shows how the two enemies end up falling in love. And also in how it explains the mutants' development. I think the plot will keep people guessing, but not in an illogical way.

How the two groups start their grudges feel so realistic. One country is scared and people with their own self-interests pile on while others that might be able to stop it are checked out because they think it's too much of a bother. It's a bit of a call for people to engage - engage in democracy, in politics, in the community, in anything that could have an impact on your life because you never know what might sneak past under the radar if you remain completely disengaged. I had spent a good year or two completely ignoring the news; and while I can unequivocally say it definitely reduced my stress and increased my happiness, it's the happiness of ignorance and absolute powerlessness. If something that affected me occurred, I wouldn't have the knowledge to react, to try to mitigate the effects.

The other big theme in this story is how the definition of what is "right" and who is "privileged" are constantly changing. Don't just assume that you know everything about an event because you've learned about it - everything learned is often tinted with the teachers' perspective and information bias. With more perspectives and the passage of time, a story can change - the villains and heros might take on subtleties that make them harder to label. Similarly, one country or person or group that seemed to be on top of the world can lose their luster or power over time. It's hard to predict what the future might bring, but whatever it brings is often not the status quo. <<less

The MC was too naive and clueless for me. He was meant to be a seargant, and with his personality it's extremely hard to believe.

The whole idea really makes no sense as to why they were so quick to agree to end a 2000 year old war with a marriage. Also, the MC was way too compliant with it and also with everything in general.
