This novel was penned by the same author of the A Mistaken Marriage Match series. Overall, I like the story and accept the ending. A number of plot changes differentiate this from the usual stories of the same genre.

Spoiler

Some of the plot changes:

  • The MC's past life was a happy one. She had a loving family.
  • The MC was still wearing the mystical bracelet from the modern world when her soul transmigrated to the ancient world. She often wondered how to use the bracelet to return.
  • The MC doesn't have past memories of the host at all. The story of her present life starts 3 years after the transmigration.
  • The MC and ML are betrothed via arrangement. The ML visits the MC (he had not seen her for 3 years as he's a general stationed far away) on the way back to the Imperial Capital to break off the engagement, and the MC graciously agrees as she has no past memory of the ML. As an act of goodwill, the MC invites the ML and his male friend to stay for a few days to attend a number of events and to sight-see.
  • The ML becomes curious and interested as to the changes in the MC, and tries to get closer to figure her out. The ML soon regrets breaking off the engagement, and before leaving asks the MC to marry him.
  • Smart MC makes the ML grovel for many chapters afterwards.

There are still others which I won't mention.

Whether this is a HE depends on how one would interpret the sacrifices made by both the MC and the ML to obtain their happy ending. I would have preferred it if they didn't have to take such drastic actions, but understand that it was the only way to be free under the circumstances.

I really wanted to like this, but it just couldn't catch my attention.

I read several chapters, stopped reading it for around a week, picked it back up and read several more, and then just couldn't get the motivation to continue.

In its defense, this story isn't bad... it just doesn't have anything particularly unique or attention-catching.

... more>> The heroine is the usual reincarnated know-it-all who is cool and level-headed in all situations (except ones with men, in which she always follows along regardless of how willing she is).

The other characters' personalities are inconsistent and two-dimensional. All of the males are supposed to be super hot (though this isn't described very well) and all the other females aren't particularly intelligent.

The translation quality is also rather poor. While I do appreciate Nutty's kindness in picking up this series, readers please be aware that nearly all of the English is broken, which makes an already confusing/bland story even moreso.

For all I know, this novel might get better later on. But it's sort of sad that I wasn't even able to force myself to read more than 20 chapters. <<less

Not bad and not great at all either. It was rather draggy in my opinion and some of the adjectives were being redundant. The thing that irritates me the most was the exclamation mark being wrongly used. My english language isn't that great but I really can't take it. Take for example, MSQ always speaks calmly but the dialogue of hers always has "!" in it. It is as if she is shouting rather than speaking softly. I wonder whether it was the translator's fault or the author's fault. It... more>> started off great but went downhill too soon. Next is how every male that encounter her find her interesting. Like whattttt?? Author, is this the only excuse you can think of as the reason for the love to spark? Too repetitive. Different male has different reasons to like the fairer s*x. I'm just reading this novel to waste my time while waiting for other better CN novel. <<less

I love historical novels. And again, it's a transmigration thing but I can say for sure that this one is tasteful and the story flow is just right, not too much exaggeration about the MCs. Though there are only few chapters TLed, the story looks promising ?

The translation is decent. Its the story that's problematic.

The FL is a Mary Sue. The only difference? She's an average looking Mary Sue. And this is stressed throughout the novel. Every character introduced is beautiful and makes you awestruck. Only the FL is average looking but everyone just falls for her. They can't hate her. Even the assassins sent to kill her. Yeah right.

The ML had no personality. He is missing for more than half the book. His job when he is around is to act over-bearing and jealous. ML... more>> knows the FL since they were kids. Her sudden change in personality and "aura", make him fall for her. He shows no concern about the original soul of the body the FL has transmigrated into. Poor Original Soul. What a gem of a human this ML is. Also, ML is supposed to a God of War. But in the only battle described towards the end, the army still has to rely on the FL to get a strategist to help them. Ugh.

There are so many loose ends in the story that they cannot be counted. Maybe the author will resolve them in the sequels. I don't know. But they are frustrating to the reader.

No character development. Time skip is used to show any progress. So the reader never sees how the FL achieves her goals. Its basically a novel about an ordinary looking FL who is a Mary Sue, a brilliant business woman who then lived happily ever after with the jerk ML.

Skip this. Find a better read. <<less

It's aight.

I came in here expecting some good ass romance, but all I got was the MC smiling every chapter in a way that makes everyone attracted to her. A single smile to entrap all the ML into obsession. Personally, I wish the author would have developed the romance a bit more because to me, the interaction between our MC and the eventual ML didn't really convince me that the MC had any real feelings towards him. Like, I understand why these MLs would fall so hard for her, but... more>> the way she just randomly decided, "oh, I have feelings for him" really confused me. It was almost as if the author suddenly remembered she was writing a romance novel and made the MC develope feelings from thin air.

My problem with it was the MC[

first of all she was described as lazy and as the story continues and you see her with cold and indifferent personality and she has a gentle smile I mean can somebody have a gentle smile all the time without their mouth getting hurt

Next one is how author describes the background, most of the time she is at the lake or moon shines at her face etc is she giving pose?? And let's not forget about her admirers hello you didn't have a boyfriend or relationship when you where in modern time than suddenly you are in ancient time and all people start loving you ya like that is totally believable ]

This novel is MC fall for her ex fiancé I can't believe she choose her ex fiancé when there is lot of guys fall for her. I don't like ML he just like annoying guy like Chen wang from chu wang fei and ex fiancé from demon wang golden favor fei

It is really difficult to understand why women like these male leads who always does a U-turn after breaking a marriage engagement. It already shows the man has a lack of class and genuine heart. How could anyone appreciate a male lead like that? Just because he’s handsome and domineering?

The time skip right from the start is very disappointing. The author wants to showcase the female lead’s ability right away and avoid the trouble of explaining it. Three years and she managed to revive her family business, forging nationwide contact,... more>> recruiting powerful pugilists and having the whole family listen to her.

Yet for such an intelligent woman she likes an engagement breaker and got nearly forced into a dead end by the Emperor... sure... <<less

I should have given only 2 stars for the unpleasant ML, but I appreciate the kindness of the person who did the translation. And yeah, I feel like @Aris12 said, I think the ML takes MC for granted, in the early chapters acts like he owns her, like "I like her, so she will be mine, and that is for sure", I don't like that, he thinks she is an object?, or like the horse? (He thinks like that too about her horse, that the animal is his for sure,... more>> just because he want it) , and to know that she will end up with this kind of ML makes it more disgusting, he even takes away one of her necklaces just because she gave a ornanent to a random guy (another ml) to help him, and acts as he had rights over her, I mean, she never NEVER gave him that rights, but again, she never complained about his behavior.

I liked the novel, and how MC can sustain herself and don't need a man, how she still think as a modern woman, but even like that she choose the type of man that contradict all this.

I would like to read a novel where the protagonist doesn't end up with a guy who takes her for granted. <<less

I would say I like this novel, because of the clever and collected female MC. Her mental strength is amazing but her physical strength is abysmal. You have to have strength to protect yourself, man. If you're dead your brain is useless.

There are 3 main men going after MC, though the 3rd ML hasn't actually stepped up seriously in obsessively chasing after her. I do enjoy the relatively chill and slow atmosphere, but after a while it just got slightly boring. The romance is super slow, and judging from some... more>> spoilers, the ML and MC are going to be separated most of the time. I think I enjoyed this novel, but never really got into it. I guess I need more action, and female MCs that are able to think and protect themselves. Sigh. <<less

This story is draggy, it only became exciting on last few chapters.

There are many characters introduced and they immediately disappeared... that they became forgettable. Many unanswered questions about most characters' pasts (like Mo Can) and real personalities are not yet revealed.

In my opinion, the MC and ML's relationship is not well-developed.

The MC is a personification of being a saint with her calm and unending patience. Most of the girls surrounding her even her servants are all well-treated by her that they sometimes became extremely disrespectful clingy and childish... sometimes I... more>> can feel that MC can't breath properly. Further, many people were dependent to her but suddenly unexpectedly...

Spoiler

Leaving all in the end all their duties especially ML who was the General.

Plus, it felt that the "happy" ending feels like bittersweet for me. She was twice forced to leave the people she loved... her real family in modern world and now her family & friends in Dong Yu. <<less

We have a clever female who transmigrated. It is an interesting story but the development of the romance was lacking.

Spoiler

We have this great general who easily goes from wanting to cancel his engagement to wanting to keep the engagement. Although I did enjoy their cute moments later, I wished the their romance was developed more.

Also it was unsatisfying how unresolved her modern day family was dealt. She left due to her jade bracelet. She mentions them multiple times since she misses them and we do not even get an epilogue that mentions them or a side story!

Regarding her jade bracelet, it was not resolved why their was that connection with the matching jade pieces. They all glow purple when brought near each other. But for what purpose?

[collapse]

Poor girl, she seems to get injured quote a bit. Lol. In a world where she has no martial arts, I like how clever she is to use strategies to build up her business. I enjoyed reading her schemes and her understanding that their are consequences to her action.

Spoiler

For example, her being apprehension with developing the explosives. However I felt this plot line was sparse and lacking. If she came up with such a great weapon, she would definitely be someone who others would try and control or steal in order to gain the knowledge/formula for the explosives. Then after the battle was done, it was never mentioned again. It was a no ice use of her modern knowledge but there was no follow up.

[collapse]

Regarding MO Can

Spoiler

I am still confused about how the jade piece ended up with the Hai yu's prince. It was explained it was given to his father when he saved a woman. However Chu Yin/demonic doctor wanted to find that man who took MO Can's mother away, and the person who killed her. We assume they are 2 difference people. Whatever happened to MO Can's father?! Chu Yin gave up on MO Can's mother since she loved the other guy but we don't know what happened to her.

[collapse]

Tramslator did a nice job, however the author could have used several extra chapters to develop the plot a bit better or resolve the issue.

I did enjoy all the interesting male characters that appeared in the novel.
Spoiler

I was rooting for Mo Can, but he is a bit cold and I love reading about Wei Nai and her spicy personality. I wished there was a side story on them. The Emperor was an idiot. For being so powerful and supposedly great at scheming since he became emperor, the choices he made were not the smartest. LOVED her revenge of dying in his arms. He was more intrigued and fascinated by someone who would not give in to him, but he was a creep.

Finally finished reading this in 2 days. The opening reminded me of Mistaken Marriage Match series where MC accidentally time traveled to ancient time due to some mystical object. It's not surprising because they are from the same author after all.

Now onto the story. MC wakes up in the body of the daughter of a merchant. In her hand, her family business flourishes and she gains a lot of reputation in that era. But somehow that reputation makes her accidentally got involved in the power struggle between the 3 countries.

MC... more>> is not your typical female lead. She's not extremely beautiful or has a perfect body but she's clever and has a calm temperament. Although she looks ordinary, she still could attract many men around her (in the other word, she's a big time Mary Sue).

ML, what I can say. I don't know for sure who is the ML until 2/3 of the story because too many male characters are introduced in this story. All of them are attractive and MC shows her interest towards a few of them. But because I already read the spoiler beforehand, I knew from the start that ML is:

Spoiler

The very first male character that introduced in the earlier chapter after she time traveled who is also the original body's fiancee, Xuanyuan Yi.

[collapse]

The plot is actually quite interesting but it still has some loose ends.

Spoiler
    • The first time I know that Xuanyuan Yi is ML, I'm a bit surprised because there are not many interactions between them. He even wanted to cancel their engagement but later changed his mind quickly after seeing MC's transformation. I'm a bit puzzled about what makes MC chooses him in the end. If that's just because ML vows to only marry her in his life, I think other male leads could provide that too.
    • Too many characters are introduced in the story but some of them suddenly vanish into a thin air without further explanation.
    • After MC time traveled, suddenly 3 years are already passed. There is no further story about what happened in those 3 years. I'm curious about how she made her family business flourished because in her past life she's only a librarian who are not interested in the business world, unlike her 2 brothers.
[collapse]

As for the ending, some says that it's a happy ending but for me, it's a bittersweet ending.

Spoiler

MC and ML are forced to fake their own death to avoid emperor's obsession and jealousy towards MC. They also have to leave their country and families and live in seclusion. It's a bit sad because both ML and MC have a loving family and also have some loyal friends.

MC also has a chance to go back to her own era but she still chooses to be with ML and their unborn child. It's saddened me because I know how much she misses her own family.

This is very much more of a political novel than a romance novel.

The relationship between the ML and MC is not well-developed. As other reviewers have said, they don't interact very much as the ML is always sent to the border and we don't see how they fall in love with each other. To sum it up, Mc's personality is now completely different, ML is interested. That's it.
Spoiler

I did like how MC tells ML very clearly that if he wants to be with her, he can only marry her. However, it seems almost too idealistic that the ML agreed without any thought.

[collapse]

There are also a lot of characters from different countries (who are important in the sequel novels apparently?) so it got confusing at times. I wasn't personally invested in those characters, so I skimmed a lot of those chapters.

The plot with the Emperor was interesting, however the resolution was rather anti-climatic to me. I would like to see another story that focuses entirely on an ML & FL wanting to be together but have to deal with the imperial might of the Emperor.

Although the romance part was lacking (especially at the beginning), it was an excellent novel. This is quite different from other transmigration novels where it is full of face-slapping, and you can drown in fluff. The plot is well done, it's not rushed, and the story was nicely wrapped up in the end. It explained what needed to be explained.

All in all, highly recommended.

Its kinda boring. I am not even sure if I can push myself to finish this.

Sure, there's the interesting plot. But there's to many filler sentences that's got so little to do with the actual plot. I mean come on, the author should have explain the important notes rather explaining the not so important things. There's to many characters popping up everywhere not really explaining why they are there plus too little interactions, making it seems like they are there just to make thing just move along. Alot of unnecessary stuffs are explained, but the thing that should be explained are balled up into 'oh Its amazing' but you just cant see it cause its kindof a mystery. It was noted that alot of people find her outstanding but the words use doesnt emphasize why or how exactly, it just been dropped to the readers that the people are in awe of her, 'she's great, smart and outstanding, deal with it' kindof situation without even a glimpse or reason or explanation why. Which doesnt make me feel or see their point of view, making it hard for me to connect to the characters and what's happening. And this is a big deal for me. Since everytime I am reading, I am so immersed that I can picture out the things that Im reading as though I am in it, as though its happening to me or Im the one conversing. And dont get me started on the romance ???

Thats just disappointing.

1 star for the nice try plot

2 star for the effort on translation

Although this is another transmigration novel, the plot is very different from the recently-popular transmigration novels where the FL or ML is over-powered and are good at anything without being surprised that they have been transported into a new world. The FL in this novel might seem too normal or boring for the others, but I find it down to earth. She is not proficient in everything but is really good at what she does best. Some might say it's s*upid how the male characters in the novel seem to... more>> like her, not all of them falls in love with her and just genuinely like her personality. The goal of the FL does not steer from it's original path throughout the story, this I really appreciate. The romance development might be slow, but the progress is justified with the matters going on in the novel. Do give it a read to those of you who are bored of the too-powerful and too-overrated novels. <<less

I'm confused, usually I'm able to grasp the story in general after reading 10 chapter. However for this one, I couldn't even grasp the main purpose or what this story would actually bring. The only thing I could get was the bussines thing this story offer through the FL but it didn't Pique my interest at all. Perhaps that's also one of the reason I couldn't get too connect with the plot.

The translation is not bad but not good either, I understand what the content but my head hurt reading... more>> it. Idk if this was the author writing style or the translator style. But I do find no problem reading it just not get immerse in it.

Spoiler

the FL character were written like some short of fairytale character, too perfect too foggy. There is no sense of real or life that could bring me attached to her. I like the humanistic way of story telling where you could see the character as a living person so it can connect with your mind and get implemented in the imagination of your mind. Even the pitterpan character were much more human than this one. At least so far that's what I felt.

The protagonist is not like those protagonist that one usually found in transmigrations stories. She is a rational and realistics person especially when it comes to her marriage and see the bigger picture. And this story does not center just on the protagonist love life which is also good but it also shows how there are many unique women in historical times.

It is a very good read. It has an unique plot from trending trasnmigration story.
