Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils by Jin Yong was first serialized in newspapers from 3 September 1963 to 27 May 1966.

The story follows the journeys of three protagonists. The main thematic element of the novel concerns the complex, troubled relationships between characters from various kingdoms and sects, and the inherent bond that underlies the struggles of each. The novel examines the cause and effect that forms and breaks these bonds on five uniquely corresponding levels: self, family, society, ethnic group, and country.

Worth every sweat and blood you shred while finding the complete novel. The real master piece of Jin Yong. Rumor said the after he finished this series, he couldn't write the new one for over the years.

You can't find wuxia novel that have lots of MCs! Every characters have personality. Even a small character has its say. Each MC has very strong characteristics that'll burn through your eyes, imprint to your heart. You can't be counted as WX reader until finish this one.

Even though I likes Linghu Chong and Gouzhazhong more, its more of their personalities than because the story they are in, because as a story overall, Demigod and Semidevils is easily top-class. It is Jin Yong's lengthiest novels, and the story it conveys is appropriately massive. Spreading all of ancient China, and other countries, its a tale you has to read to see how the author able to tighten such a big cast and locations together, something even the Chinese greatest four novels has trouble with.

Jin Yong is one of the most successful Wuxia novel through out Chinese history and this is one of the most famous book of his due to the multi-MC and viewpoint from various angle. This displays the heroic figure, the true brotherhood and the conflict of the heart that is torn by war which make people feel respect and sadness, at the same time leave a bit of regret and bitter taste to the MC (i have read it since I was 7 and watched more than 3 film about... more>> it). If you want to read some epic novel that shows off chivalry and respect, this is the book for you. If you want to see a new CN ideal hero (clever, ruthless, opportunistic and badass in the way that he can solve all problem like a god), this is not a novel for you <<less
