For eight years, Ye Fei and Gu Ang, two alphas who raised their ranks in the military, were lovers and did everything together. But then, soon after their marriage, Gu Ang asked for divorce.

Unsure of the reasons why, Ye Fei became heartbroken.

Unknown to the two of them, they woke up soon after their divorce eight years in the past; back when they were freshman; back before they ever met; back before they loved one another.

Although the two of them have different views on being reborn, the main question is whether or not this world they were reborn in was exactly the same as their old world or not. Had they created a butterfly effect? Could they save the ones they had lost in those eight years? Were they still going to end up together?

Soon they would learn that not everything was the same…. Something was entirely different than their old world… And that was Gu Ang’s secondary gender. He was now, unknowingly, an omega.

I was actually curious why it was rated too low... with the tags I was actually expecting a r*pey romance but it was more innocent than I expected? What. It's just the usual brawl-y AxA romance. RN, there's too few rates that the percentage has gone askew (and I see that troll 6 one-star votes in almost every mpreg too) this should be at least 4-up. IMO, if you merely skim the novel and sentence it with low stars it's not giving justice to the novel.

Btw, most of MC's... more>> fault lies in his POOR EQ. EQ=/=IQ. It is part of his upbringing and emotions/private life has got nothing to do with his being "perfect general". That said, be aware if you are a type of reader who dislikes an unreliable narrator. Bcos MC is close to being one.

It's what made him and ML a good match tho. Their opposing personality complements each other.

For an EXR the translation was quite rough but it's better to read the translation than MTL. I see that few dare to give this novel a chance so I'll put down my cent here and clarify things. Sure, it ain't a masterpiece or smth but at least it deserved to be read once especially if you are into secret identities, second chances and omegaverse. That said I want to answer the previous reviewer's confusion

  1. MC: He was just a truant, not s*upid. His low ranking is school is because of him acting up to get his parent's attention. That is why it's not a surprise when he shot up the ranks in his senior year bcos ML became his reason to compete higher. (see, skipping makes you miss parts)
  2. This is a bit spoiler-y so I'll just say that the couple were the usual rough men who would rather treat themselves than go to a doctor/hospital they are not familiar with. So there won't be much of medical explanation about MC's alpha and omega pheromone co-existing. Still, it will be addressed later and I put it behind spoilers tag.
  3. There was no non-con. Except for emergency marking, ML never forced MC Never gone all the way until they got certain of their mutual feelings (but he did crop some feel yeah). That marking only had neck and mouth contact FFS. Fully clothed and not s*xual LOL. And btw, MC wasn't some pretentious virg*n mary to cry over every little things. Still, it IS a problem. And that was properly addressed at ep 60-ish when they sat down and talked about it. (If you skip, just make sure it's not an important scene...)
Anyway, MC's pheromones situation behind the spoiler tag
Spoiler

there really isn't some strict scientific explanation as we are in the POV of military men who have no interest in medical science but basically it is part fate and part technical effect. MC's biggest regret is his failed marriage due to their AxA coupling and his desire of "how I wish I was an omega so all these problems will be gone" while in the middle of transmigration/rebirth actually came true. And that ushered in his "second differentiation"

So after transmigration, MC started having changes in body but not that much. Just the pheromones and the extra omega parts. It's interesting how he tested the neutral pheromone in battle and harnessed his changes to his advantage. Truly a strong 5-star future admiral that he is. But he doesn't want to be a lab rat tho, so he refused further testing.

The rebirth mystery is well explained, that I can applaud since I've seen too many "truck-kun did it" explanations and I'm glad they did not go to that cliched route but used interstellar technology not just to save the world but also give themselves a second chance.

[collapse]

The problem I see with this couple is that both weren't honest. IK a lot of people here are always biased for MC but it should be made clear that BOTH lied to each other.
Spoiler

MC with his feelings and ML with his situation. That is why the classic misunderstanding came up. Couple that with secret identity w/c made it worse. But it was resolved later. I prefer the flow of their communication. There is no unnecessarry dogblood (that is present on other novels) to complicate the situation but the couple just sat down and ML told just about everything that he needed to tell. Honestly, MC was more relived that those temporary mark came from the ML despite all his initial anger from ML lying to him. That lie was understandable. And MC was a former alpha FFS HE WASN'T SOME WUSSY FAKE MALE. And a "mentally (transmigrated) " grownup man. He's not a fragile virg*n.

[collapse]

Part of the problem is also MC's very, very prideful self. So prideful that he made himself into a scum man that divorces his husband even before they consummate their marriage without an explanation. (and yes, they were together for 6 years w/o going all the way.) If it were any other gongs? IDK. The ML/gong in this story may be black bellied but he is still gentle and considerate overall and never forced the MC. He does little tricks in seducing MC but if the MC still doesn't want to, he never forces it and agrees to anything the MC wants even when he's in the middle of his rut. Compare to other self-proclaimed good control Alphas in other novels I dare say ML's a gentleman LOL. He's the real deal. He's so awesome able to hold it in and conceding to pettings when the MC doesn't want to go all the way. For an alpha that's a great feat, cmon. That's why IDEK why readers who only base their stars in the characters and not the story would still rate this low for an alpha like that. It's unfair.

In that sense, they match each other perfectly. An actual BL couple that ACTS LIKE MEN for once. Not like those novels where the gongs pamper the shou endlessless and the shous were so tender and fragile they can't be treated roughly. Like, dude. Don't needlessly force your idealistic "cool seme x cute uke" every-freaking-time. It's nice but for once, there's a novel where an Alpha shou acts like one. He's not overly aggressive but just acts like the normal man that he is. Fulfilling his wish to be an omega is just a bonus. Let's appreciate as it is. Btw for the AxA fans, there is a continuation story at the fanwai.
Spoiler

Readers will still be treated to what happened in their pre-transmigration timeline where they had their AxA failed marriage. The story will pick up after the divorce. It will have character growth and acceptance. Despite all the sh*t that existed in this timeline, the couple will still be able to patch things up and will get a happy ending in that universe as well.

I usually don't mind OP MCs but this one doesn't make sense.

First of all, although the MC was a 5 star general before going back in time, I felt that he was restricted to his past body's strength. When he was in school he was basically the last in his grade, so for him to suddenly become number one doesn't make sense (maybe, if the school were only testing how smart students were but no, they also tested their physical abillity).

Secondly, the ability of MC's alpha-turned-omega body. They say that... more>> omegas are weaker than alphas, and MC had that same concern since he was worried of being weaker now that he's an omega but it turns out he's even more powerful? Honestly I'm really curious on if the author gives a reason for this in the later chapters but for now I'm stopping cuz MTL just got too confusing.

Anyways another thing I didn't like about this was the non-con and secrets ML hid from MC (and it wasn't even the good kind of secrets). The only good thing was that the MC truly does love the ML but the choices ML and some others make only hurt the MC even more.

There's so many other things I could comment on (good and bad) but I don't want to spoil it for others. Just beware of non-con and some manipulation if you're going to read. <<less

The s*xual tension in this story is pretty hot - definitely worth reading!

And even though the main CP is an alpha x omega pairing, the story is really an alpha x alpha romance as both parties have strong alpha personalities.

The MC Gu Ang is a high-ranking military admiral Alpha who has transmigrated back to when he's a freshman in military college. Gu Ang ends up becoming roommates with his future ex-husband but this time, Gu Ang re-differentiates into an Omega! * Dun dun DUN *

The ML Ye Fei is an... more>> aloof and outstanding but scheming Alpha who is still desperately in love with his ex-husband and will do anything to win Gu Ang back. I really like the ML but there is some (what may be considered) dubcon in the name of helping Gu Ang during his heat.

Plot-wise I would rate this around 4+ stars because there are some parts that drag a little, but rounding up to 5 stars because

  • Great cast of supporting characters
  • OP couple with a strong Omega
  • Awesome reveal of the explanation for the transmigration
  • Really awesome reveal of the possible cause of Gu Ang becoming an Omega
  • Cute side couple story in the extras
  • I love the word play with the MC and ML's names in the story - it was really sweet.

this is a really romantic novel, the love they have for each other is so sweet. They got a 2nd chance to be together again and were able to change the outcome for the better, never stopped loving each other. The side couple was also really sweet as well. I totally recommend this novel.

I managed to get to chapter 42 and I think that is where I’m going to call it and drop the novel.

Honestly, it was fine to read there was no major flaws that would normal make me drop a novel immediately nor was there any real problem with the story (up to where I stopped anyway)

However, I was thoroughly bored and I found myself getting more and more exhausted and annoyed with the MC. 1 thing about me, is I hate misunderstanding tropes. I didn’t realize that’s what this... more>> would be when I first started it. And honestly, had it of been the trope for just 20 ish chapters I probably could have continued on, but I got so annoyed with the idiocy of the MC and how s*upid he was being when he supposedly this great 5 star general.

A five star general that commands troops and has to take in the overall situation of battle but is too lacking in common sense and rational thinking that he can’t even get a clear read on his partner of 4 years is insane to me.

Not to mention, I got so sick of him trying to hate the ML as if the divorce was his fault and he did something to betray the MCs trust, when instead it was all because of the MC. So now, on top of the misunderstanding trope, we have the ML trying to find ways to get the MC back as if he’s the one to blame for everything.

I’m tired lol. It’s really not worth it, it was so tiring to get through these 42 chapters with all the back and forth and s*upidity. <<less

I'm glad it seemed like the author had fun writing the novel.

To be honest, the novel's logic didn't make any sense (and not for the reasons that some of the other reviewers mentioned), it honestly felt like it was written by a young teenager.

The story jumps around a lot; despite transmigrating into the past from being 5 star generals, the main characters are immediately reduced to acting like genuine little kids who've never seen the world. The relationship development, interactions with their peers (eg. beating up other students for a... more>> girl not because MC even cared about her but just because he can beat up other children?), are all very... juvenile... Even the misunderstandings are absolutely unbelievable like...

Spoiler

the fact that the MC didn't figure out that the ML was the "unknown alpha" who would coincidentally encounter him every time he was in heat, even though he already suspected him, just because the ML "cleverly" had an excuse... first time okay? 5th time? bro pls.

Or the fact that the MC didn't figure out that the ML had also transmigrated despite every single clue stacking up like a tower of cards.

[collapse]

I wouldn't say it was annoying to read, rather it read a lot like one of those young campus slice-of-life fics, which would have been nice if that was the vibe that the author stuck to.

Instead, the author tried to reach way beyond their skill level to add additional plots, like

Spoiler

blowing up laboratories, some kind of weird conspiracy with (nonexistent) powerful families with (nonexistent) political implications. These teenage youths that act that age or younger are sent on missions, try to (mu*der?) each other, while going into fanboy CP chats (undercover?).

Imagine you wanted kill someone or get revenge for your family's death... you join their school shipping chat and meme instead. Don't you have something better to do???

Answer: no, because this is a teen spy comedy family movie.

[collapse]

The amount of "fake spy"/"teenage spy" vibes I got from this novel was crazy intense and pretty hilarious. It's definitely as absurd as some of those intentionally parody or comedy novels (except author seems to be earnest with the plot which I don't know is unfortunate or just plain sad.)

That said, translation flowed well. It was an... interesting read for sure, not sure I would recommend this unless you really like teen life and comedy. <<less

I refuse to believe I am the only one who found Bai Sining, Gu Ang's friend as creepy and continuously overstepping his boundaries as his best friend. I understand that he was meant as a comedic relief but his constant need to post about MC and MLs relationship, not respecting their privacy, making them misunderstand each other got on my nerves A LOT. So much that it was kinda difficult for me to complete this book. Nevertheless, the book was good ! I like both MC and ML and their... more>> relationship growth and pace between them is perfect ! There are no prolonged misunderstandings, no needless angst and their chemistry is superb.

Story - 8/10

Main characters - 9.5/10

Side Characters - 4/10 <<less
