Made an account just to write this review, I feel like the two other reviews on this story tell you a bit, but skirts around some thing, so let me dig into that.

The story itself isn’t focused much on romance at all, maybe one or two arcs are with romance. And yes, sometimes the MC gets lucky like any other fantasy main character, but really, he is most pf the time using his brain, it’s also not like he is just sitting and cultivating while doing nothing, a lot of... more>> the story is about him fighting other people, or people fighting in general. There are also some aspects were it can drag on a bit, but it isn’t unbearable. Now, around chapter 250-300 because I can’t pinpoint were it is, I think it’s mostly the translators fault that it becomes kinda ineligible and sort of repeats itself, but you can still get the general idea of what’s going on, and it doesn’t happen in too many chapters. Another error I think is due to translation is in later chapters, around 200+, Mara Boxun is sometimes said as two different people, sometimes as one, and other small errors like that, when Mara is more of a title and Boxun is the name, I won’t say more as not to spoil.

another thing I need to go over is, this story is basically kingdom building being repeated, but it’s not at all exactly the same, it’s more the opposite actually, something different happens every time, and it’s not always that the MC gets his way, he did “die” at one point, or rather his dream incarnation in another world died, and his plans, though carefully crafted, are also foiled many times, it really makes for a good read because the MC isn’t always having things go exactly his way, though a lot of the time it does as well.

I wouldn’t put this on the same level as ROTDS or DAM, but it definitely makes for a very good cultivation novel read, espionage if you liked things like fantasy simulator, though I would say fantasy simulator is a notch above this as well, that may be due to nostalgia though.

Tldr; Give it a read, if you dont like the first 30-50 chapters, drop it, it isn’t for you, even though the bread and butter of the story starts later. <<less

  • GOOD START
  • You see potential when you first read it
  • then author messes things up
  • One of the worlds or dreams he has, a female character there died and reincarnated into his world.

    but guess what
    Spoiler

it just happens that he got the power to save souls and give them their memory just when that lady was about to die and enter reincarnation. I know. What a coincidence.

    [collapse]
I think the f*ck not. Too many coincidences. Would not recommend.

had the potential to be a salted fish protagonist and an immortal life protagonist but wasted by being a coincidence protagonist

Man, I don't understand authors sometimes. Honestly, this is pretty solid story for the most part. The romance is average for translated webfiction, which is to say generically awful and pointless, but the core progression loop was actually fairly entertaining. The formula of a ruthless underdog violently seizing power remains popular for a reason, and the reckless actions of the protagonist fully supported by the fact that similar to Carefree Path of Dreams or Fantasy Simulator, he is embodying an incarnation in another world. In his own world, he was... more>> patient, cautious, and willing to endure in order to survive the hellish oversight of a cultivation world.

It sets up a nice contrast between the dreams where he can take huge risks and go wild in pursuit of power, and the real world where he instead relies on cunning and stealth to avoid covetous eyes. And then the table gets flipped. He starts reincarnating women into the literal deathworld he is hiding away from all human life to survive. After dozens of chapters about how society is under oppressive layers of surveillance to capture all recipients of "Immortal Fate", and not in a good way, he decides to flip the table, busts out an actual god damn mecha and goes to intentionally signal that there's some juicy f*cking fate located in his area.

My suspension of disbelief killed itself right around when the author had a wet dream about how what cultivators actually need to fight up realms is mechas (with zero build up), but the prior story was fairly solid for the most part. I will say that the dream arcs get a little stale after seeing him build a prosperous, happy, and righteous empire four times in a row, but it's not the worst thing in the world. In short, the story starts fine, but I hated the romance, greatly disliked the abrupt character shift, and had zero interest in my ancient cultivation story suddenly having a core aspect of their cheat centered around mechas. <<less
