I only read the first arc so it's possible that the following arcs may improve.

But honestly the one I read was so majorly disappointing.

You can't even call it a counter attacking guide since what counter-attack, she doesn't even interact with the original protagonists that much. Literally the people she was supposed to counter attack against, she barely said ten sentences to them. They weren't even mentioned for most of the novel.

The whole arc was just about how the more succesful and powerful cousin of Ori ML, our ML, Song Tianyi... more>> falls in love at first sight with our MC and has a creepy, illogical and maniacal obsession with her. No reason is give for this obsession. The MC completes the task just by being with ML even though the task was to counter attack against original protagonists.

I read it for the face-slapping but even if the arc just forgot about the original protagonists of the novel and focused on our MCs love, I wouldn't have hated it as much if at least the romance was good but it was the most s*upid, unnecessary and poorly written romance story I ever read.

Basically Song Tianyu (I'll just call him the Ml) fell in love with MC at first sight and had a very creepy, unexplainable obsession towards her. He let his grandfather know so they would get married.

He literally thought this while they were having a friendly meal together, "One more month, another month, if Su Li still doesn’t like him, then he can only decide the wedding date."

MC finds out about his creepy obsession but doesn't care, not to say that she loves him that much, she literally just doesn't care about him. He's only a golden thigh she's using to complete the task.

The whole arc is about the MC and Song Tianyi but it doesn't even have any romance in it. The ML just tells her they'll marry, she agrees then there's a brainless, no reason sub-plot of her being kidnapped then they go on a honeymoon and...... that's it. This really was everything about their 'romance' story.

Also the kidnapping sub-plot was so mind-numbingly s*upid that if I start I won't stop.

Now that I listed out everything, the arc was really a mess. Aaah I can't find any positives.

The title of this novel is completely misleading.

There is no such thing as "counterattacking" pretty much anybody.

To be frank, 2 out of 5 stars is honestly probably overly generous for this story, but I did enjoy a few of the arcs. This is honestly mostly just me ranting at this point, there isn't much coherence to this review so sorry about that.

Straight up, half of the time a good half chunk of each arc is absolutely worthless in terms of plot or anything else. This story, AMAZINGLY, suffers from "there isn't much meat to this story so instead of trying to think of an actual plot, I'll just elongate the arcs for at least another 30+ chapters with pointless bullsh*t in between that has nothing to do with the plot/counterattack/wish of the original host/etc."

Keep in mind that many of the arcs are anywhere from 20-50 chapters. The ones that are over 30+ chapters I would say are too dragged out and have too much just random BS that I skipped through because I just literally couldn't bring myself to give a f*ck. And guess what? After skipping those chapters, it was like I hadn't missed out on anything.

I don't hate filler, especially if it's romantic. But it's usually just the FL being like teehee romance while also thinking to herself "I am so scheming, I will wait for the PERFECT TIME to COUNTERATTACK THESE PEOPLE" and then obviously she doesn't do anything. Or if she does, it takes another 10 chapters for it to happen. And then by then, the arc ends. It's just... I don't know how to describe this. It's like every time I felt an arc was interesting, some random filler would dilute my interest, or the story would abruptly end without anybody actually being counterattacked and by then I was just disappointed.

Basically, I lived in a constant state of frustration save for like. 4 or 5 arcs. And that is out of 2035 chapters. I have no clue why I kept reading, to be honest. Some hope that it would get better? Some hope it would get interesting? As per usual though, I wasted my time.

The FL of this story instead just sort of... rolls over for every single hero and heroine. The first few arcs were honestly infuriating to read. Even if the previous owner was totally F'ed over by people, whether she was innocent or not, the FL doesn't counterattack anybody. Half of the time she either doesn't interact with the original heroine/hero, or if she does, she just continues with the story to "not be OOC" and even helps them out??? Even though?? They totally screwed over the original host??? She gets all the memories and feelings, but apparently that isn't enough for her to not help people who have stabbed the original body in the past.

And half of the time the hero and the heroine change in the story and become suddenly better after one thing happens. Or they were antagonist to the FL and then the FL saves them and they're like "omg I have suuuucchh complicated feelings!!" and like. I'm guessing this is supposed to be the punishment??? I don't know. Then they suddenly are like do a 180 and suddenly nobody is fighting anymore and all the problems are magically solved!!! Okay.

The story says the hero and heroine can't die otherwise the worlds will be destroyed, but there are arcs where they die and it's always explained as "the setting of the world" or "someone else took the place of hero/heroine so it became stabilized" like it's so dumb. So what you're saying is, the hero and heroine can die, the FL doesn't actually have to help them at all, but she still does it anyways because the author has about 3 braincells and unfortunately none of them work?

It's crazy. You'd think I'd be happier about there being comradery between the FL and the heroine, but instead, I usually just feel annoyed. The FL in one of the arcs was like "this heroine is so annoying, I miss the heroines of the previous world!" and I was just baffled. Why? The heroines of the previous world were ALSO s*upid as hell. The plot holes are as huge as craters in this story. Like is this a story or is this a block of swiss cheese?

To follow up on that point, the fact that in so many arcs, the heroine suddenly "sees the light" and apologizes to the FL or "moves on" or something as if that's going to make everything better is actually terrible. Like this is some straight up Japanese shounen manga "NAKAMA NAKAMA WE'RE ALL NAKAMA!! I know I just tried to kill you multiple times but I saw the light, I'm so sorry, now we are the most bestest estest estest NAKAMA EVER!!"

And in any case, half the time, the "comradery" between the FL and the heroine just feels so shallow to me. The most infuriating one was probably the twin sister arc, where the twin sister hates her and tries to ruin the remarriage of her OWN BIOLOGICAL MOTHER to her biological father just cus she was JEALOUS of the FL. And yet, at the end, nobody gets "counterattacked" the FL just like, works in the company and gets married or something and the heroine is like "I'm sulky but I can't do anything wehhh" and the garbage mother and father get no retribution, they're just like SIGH WE WERE BAD PARENTS WEHHH and then the arc ends. Seriously, legitimate garbage. That was like way back too in the novel and I still remember it because it was so infuriating.

As for the rest of the arcs, I honestly barely remember anything. The only one that I remember was probably the one where she moved to the interstellar and figured out who the ML is. That was also really not interesting at all, I really only paid attention to the explanation about the ML and then pretty much skipped through the rest. I just remember the ending because it was like, the hero is planning to rebel!!! Next chapter, everyone was captured and is in jail and then it ended. LOL like okay.

Honestly, I feel like the arcs just focus on dumb crap and don't actually focus on actually "counterattacking" anybody. Instead, the story just sort of focuses on romance between the FL and ML, which is fine, but why bother naming this counterattack guide then??? Why not just make it a quick transmigration story with literally any other plot line??? Half the time you get a spark notes version of what happened to the people in the novel at the very end of the arc. A lot of the arcs end super abruptly as well.

It's just... an exhausting story. And yet, I kept reading because at one point the arcs picked up and got interesting because it felt like LEGITIMATE counterattacking (I'm guessing the author probably got complaints about how dumb the first like 20 arcs were or something) but then it just. Dropped again. Then picked up. Then dropped and is still at a low point right now for me.

I have a lot of mixed feelings about this novel. Honestly, if I hadn't already gone through pretty much everything else in my library, I would have dropped this a while ago.

I usually have a lot of leeway for quick transmigration stories, but man. This one has just been somewhat tiring to read. AND YET. I read through so much because I am a masochist lmao. <<less

This novel is very good! Although it doesn't talk a lot about the counterattacking part, the romance is really good. I especially love the fact that MC can't occ. It makes interesting things happen. I also like the fact that the female lead in the worlds the MC are in are nice. This makes no irritating scheming happen.

I've only read the first arc so perhaps the future arcs will be better but it was pretty disappointing.

From the summary, it seemed like a pure face-slapping novel with a little romance on the side but unfortunately, it was the other way around. And even then, the romance was very strange and seemed very forced. The ML literally just inexplicably fell in love with the MC at first glance??? Despite going through countless worlds already, the MC starts blushing shyly even though they were just hiding behind a tree together...?

Although... more>> the entire novel is literally named after the counterattacking, the MC basically did nothing. The original ML and FL that she was supposed to be fighting against pretty much self exploded on their own whilst the MC just sat there being pretty. The entire thing was just horribly rushed and fast-paced.

The author is also pretty inconsistent. At first, they painted the original female lead as this white lotus who deliberately played 'hard to get' in order to get the male lead's attention because she grew up in a poor family so she wanted to marry a rich man in the future. However, a couple of chapters later, the MC is all like "Aw heroine so cute like rabbit" and tries to persuade her to leave the male lead. <<less

You know what, this is the first novel over 3k chapter's I've actually finished. I did get bored sometimes, but it always picked up soon enough. It's a decent novel to fill your free time. It's light and easy to read, so it's perfect when I want to relax at the end of the day.
