Xu Ji was informed that he was to be betrothed to someone—a person with fair, beautiful skin, as well as a lovely smile.

Xu Ji’s parents were thrilled with his soon-to-be son-in-law, who they praised for his appearances, and his family-orientedness. Shyly bowing his head, Li Ting thanked them.

But Xu Ji hated good kids like him. His face devoid of all expression, he told him, “The relationship between us is nothing but a business marriage. You do your thing, and I’ll do mine.”

Li Ting’s tone of voice sank in that instant. “Okay.”

Despite that, there would be warm food and a made bed waiting for Xu Ji whenever he arrived home, together with a beautiful wife who would tenderly greet him saying, “You’re back.”

If it weren’t for the chance encounter at the party——

Li Ting, all decked out in a silverish grey suit, had a little beauty propped up on his leg. He was exhaling rings of smoke even more adeptly than he could.

Seeming dissatisfied, Li Ting clicked his tongue softly as he grabbed the little beauty’s hair and gave it a tug.

Xu Ji: “…”

He wasn’t in fact surprised to see him either. Instead, he lifted an eyebrow lackadaisically, saying to the people beside him, “Look, my hubby’s here.”

Eventually, things took an unexpected turn, and the two got into bed together. Xu Ji patted Li Ting’s face and said, “Be good. I won’t hurt you.”

Li Ting’s moist eyes squinted as he rubbed his own cheek against Xu Ji’s hand.

Xu Ji was so satisfied that he couldn’t even react in time when his wife suddenly flipped him over.

A curseword emerged from his lips. He then used all his strength in an effort to flip him back over——but he couldn’t lift him at all!

A beautiful smile emerged on Li Ting’s countenance as he pressed down on Xu Ji, saying, “You do your thing, and I’ll do you.”

When he next awoke, Xu Ji calmly expressed his wish for a divorce. The smile on Li Ting’s face froze in that instant.

I really enjoyed this novel, especially when paired with the radio drama! The plot follows the main couple getting forced together in an arranged marriage by their parents, where their personalities immediately clash with Li Ting acting fake and Xu Ji immediately clocking in on and hating said fakeness. There's some drama in the midpoint, but it's cleared relatively quickly without much wife chasing, and the majority of the novel is more slice of life with their relationship development, as well as focusing on their individual growth. The characters themselves... more>> are also both very likable, and I can really empathize with both of them.

Li Ting puts up a fake front at first, but I still fell for him immediately upon introduction, with his way of selling misery and pretending to be well behaved. While he's not the most genuine character at the start, he has many hidden dimensions to why he is the way he is, and I really loved how he was slowly able to let down his walls around Xu Ji, feeling comfortable enough to fully reveal his whole self by the end. He has a very playful and clingy nature, and he can act coquettish one minute while caretaking the next. His green tea nature of faking innocence doesn't completely go away, but he does it in a way that is so easy to see through that Xu Ji easily turns a blind eye lol

Xu Ji is a very particular person, being slightly cold upon introduction, with a strict set of principles and almost OCD like desire for cleanliness and control. When his lines are crossed, he can easily cut people out of his life, but he is also a very tolerant person of those he cares for, allowing Li Ting to act out as he pleases, and having almost no bottom line with him once they're truly together. As the story progresses, he also is able to make many concessions to help progress their relationship, and he loses a lot of the strictness with which he used to live by. He's very gentle with Li Ting, and is able to recognize places where their relationship needs work to keep things harmonious between them.

The two of them have such an equal and loving relationship, and really are a perfect match for one another. Xu Ji knows how to reassure Li Ting's insecurities, and Li Ting takes Xu Ji out of his comfort zone while still respecting his boundaries. Their intimate relationship ends up being much more harmonious than I expected given their initial clash of roles, and they're both very good at communicating. They both can depend on one another, and equally coax each other. There's no feeling of one excessively relenting to the other, and they both take turns acting spoiled and doting on each other respectively.

The one thing that bothered me a little about the writing were the time jumps, as they could be a little jarring and sometimes didn't make much sense, like them apparently being married for 2 years but staying the same age, or having months pass by in just a few lines. I didn't really mind it too much, but I did get confused a few times while reading. The main conflict in the novel did also bother me a bit at first (not anymore though), as

I didn't feel Li Ting had done anything wrong enough to warrant Xu Ji's reaction, but in retrospect, the two of them were becoming friends and starting to build trust at the time, and Li Ting even admitted he had been purposefully hiding his position to deceive Xu Ji. For someone who values honesty as much as Xu Ji does, it crossed his bottom line in a way that was personally unforgivable, thus leading to their ensuing breakup. His reaction was definitely warranted, and he was willing to forgive Li Ting once the other showed that he had changed and was ready to be honest. Their relationship really was very mature and well developed, with both of them learning how to better support and respect one another.

One excerpt that I feel really sets the tone of their relationship:

"What are you talking about?" Li Ting frowned. As someone from a dysfunctional family himself, he felt pained, not annoyed. He said, "Don't try to solve everything by yourself; it'll make you tired. That will affect our relationship, and I really don't want that."

Xu Ji remained silent, only smiling.

Li Ting noticed Xu Ji's expression and furrowed his brow even tighter. "I'm serious. If you try to solve everything by yourself, it'll be exhausting. This will affect our relationship. I really don't want that."

Xu Ji listened and replied with a soft "mm."

"I'm only a year younger than you, " Li Ting stared at him. "You're saying that honesty is a two-way street, right?"

Xu Ji genuinely smiled. This kind of relationship was comforting and stabilizing. "Yes, I understand. It's a two-way street."

Overall, cos0 is a pretty nice and easy read. It’s mainly comedy with the typical added drama towards the end. A main point of the story is implicit in the title name: cos0.

cos 0 = 1

I’ll leave you to figure out what that means! :)

A somewhat short, mature story. One thing about this couple that I think distinguishes them from all the other toxic, one-sided relationships in bl is that they are willing to work together as a couple and set clear boundaries. There's character growth and the characters actually talk to each other to rectify misunderstandings!!! (Unheard of usually) ... more>>

The shou has a very clear view on what kind of relationship he wants and the gong eventually comes to respect the others wishes.

As a warning there is one part where there's dubcon (it's the part in the description) however I would say it's handled better here than in other novels.

I will say that the latter half is the better part of the story because of this. The first part can be summarized as

the gong f*cking around and finding out (lol).

The authors writing is good but I feel like at times the chapters end abruptly (though this might be just because of mtl)

Overall a good story to sink your teeth into. 4.4/5 <<less

Simply beautiful, I loved that they were not the typical Gong and Shou, I know that it is not the only novel that has done it, but it is one of the few that I thought did excellent. The dynamic between MC and ML was spectacular, I loved how their story developed and that it is finally A ROMANTIC NOVEL, I always find fantasy novels with romance or school novels with romance or xiaxian with romance or supernatural with romance, but few actually focus in the romance and the problems... more>> of the couple, I loved that in this one they did it. For me it was a novel that I got out of a reading block and maybe that's why I liked it even more. <<less

Loved the relationship and character development! In the beginning they seemed so incompatible but in the end they matched each other’s freak ;)

The novel was pretty short so the wife chasing didn’t drag out for too long. I can see how the time jumps can be a bit confusing for some people but it didn’t bother me. This novel spans over 3 years and for its length you have to skip forward sometimes.

Overall I quite enjoyed it and would recommend this to anyone who might be intrigued by the... more>> synopsis! (I don’t understand why the ratings are so low) <<less
