Literally taught me how to cook, or at least the recipes the translator linked in each chapter taught me how to cook. A good story about a dude who cooks for a hobby somehow stumbles into another world. I say hobby, but it's more like an obsession.

This gimmick starts with food. His food gives people motivation to be better than what they currently are, and you know what? I enjoyed it. Each chapter is a different point of view and honestly just reading the descriptions of the food from the... more>> perspective of others made my mouth water.

It's a rare story with so much juice that will leave you hungry for more.

5/5 I will literally suck a d*ck for more of this bullsh*t konobuta please <<less

This novel is something you would want to read if you are tired of the action and life changing situations other MC undergo when transported to another world.

It is a slice-of-life novel where all the MC does is cooking... and cooking... and cooking ^-^;;; I did enjoy reading the novel though, it is shown through different perspective with the same scene to show the reactions and influences the MC's food has on the others in the mercenary corp. Without knowing it, his cooking changes others perception of him and is... more>> able to help others in their troubles.

Recommended read if you want something easy to digest in your spare time. <<less

This is a simple story about a guy who loves cooking, continue to cook for the people around him.

The story is simple, it is about how his cooking and his character helps developes the people around him.

In this story, you may be reading the same story multiple times, but with different perspective. Though I said that it is repeated, only the conversation are repeated, how each character feels and the description for that is refreshing. Its like reading ny other novel. Except this allows you to understand everyone ones perspective... more>> (at least those of importance).

At times, things may seem too convenient for him, but at the same time, I think that it is used reasonably enough to me at least. People often says I have low expectations but thats how I get to enjoy more things.

Overall, I say this is definitely a good read and I would recommend it to any one. However, as stated, this is a slice of life. There is really not much fightning scenes. So if you're someone who looks for combats, this probably isn't for you.

If you do read this, I hope you enjoy it! <<less

A very nice novel. Is it like Shokugeki no Soma? Nope... Even if you remove the cooking part I think the story will be still enjoyable.

Good Points

-Different character perspective.

... more>> -Epilogue of what will happen in far future in some chapters.

-You'll see how each characters grow.

-You'll see people who were always amazed by the MC.

-You'll see how people around MC will have a great change.

-Very nice slice of life.

-You can still feel the fantasy setting.

-Characters are likable.

Bad Points

-Even though the MC is the cause of many good changes around him, there's almost no extraordinary things he did except from cooking good foods.

-MC don't use magic.

I really recommend this for those people who wants to read a relaxing story. <<less

Blonde haired man, brand his sword, conquering country, then at the end becoming the emperor. Of course on his side is a trustee magician, archer, and all that cliche profession. But all of them is not our MC. This series has so many POV. One scene usually told again in different perspective, sometime twice, even thrice.

Overall it has a good pov change and plot. It is very wholesome and dwells into a much cute novel of cooking. The first chapters are prologue and after that it shows the journey of the gang on how they change the world itself.

"All sorrows are less with bread" this saying is kinda fitted with this novel, except it's not sorrows, but problems. It seems that the MC can solve all the problems with his cooking, from love problem to political strife. Good story for those who are sick to some harem seeking pe*verted MC, but the problem is MC is too dense, he's breaking almost all the love flag.

It is a funny book revolved around connecting people together with his cooking in a fantasy world. However I have not seen romance in the MC yet so it might be possible it is only for the side protaginosts. Romance development isnt that great either since book focuses on the cooking. I also want to point out how I liked the differenct povs being shown. I recommend reading the book, not spmething ypu can marathon well (as scenarios are kind of like "team rocket" from pokemon but with food... more>> and troubles with officials/high raking people) but its a really good novel. However, the story line is too repetitive. Honestly, it can be considered that there is no plot, its just food p*rn. Overall it is a light hearted and casual novel <<less

Très Bien, my feelings towards this novel. I normally don't like these kinds of cooking novels but this one completely blew me off. same clique characters, people who are bored with gore and darkness, people bored with ecchi and harem.... etc... etc. I highly recommend this to everyone. This novel is an unique genre by itself. It has everything you want, a little bit of action, some comedy, tiny little bit romance and much more

"The people who can eat Hamburg is only the people who have the resolve to be eaten by by Hamburg, I say" - Code Hamburger - Rirushu of the rebellion (LOL)

Just a quote from the novel of a character and the chapter name. Anyone who don't know code geass. Ask google sensei and you'll know.

Anyway just f*cking read it.

Ah.... and don't stop reading the novel halfway, you'll regret it. <<less

I really like this series!

The MC is likeable, if somewhat dense, and the supporting cast is pretty good too! It's both a happy-go-lucky cooking story while being pretty serious at times as well.

The chapter format is split, such that the first one (usually) is from the MC's simple outlook, where he cooks and cooks and socialises merrily with his newfound friends and company. The second chapter is from the other characters' POV, usually involving some dramatic context that MC has overlooked, world-building, and then having some kind of revelation that... more>> came to them while eating his food. What I also like is how the ramifications of introducing new cuisine here is slowly affecting this world in the background.

Blending them together, you get a light-hearted isekai cooking comedy with a side dish of serious drama and politicking! <<less

I know that chapter 6 seems way too early to judge the story, but hear me out before judging me.

The beginning of the story is meant to pull you in, to engross you in the lives of these characters and to ensure that you will stick with reading the story. Unfortunately for me, this story just didn't stick. The plot moved blandly and I found that I was not interested in the plot, the characters, or the food.

Yes there is character growth, slice of life moments, changing perspectives, but all... more>> of those just highlight the lack of "realness" in the story and the stale backstory of the characters. No novel needs to abide by the rules of the world we live in, but usually the author has to maintain a sense of regularity. One outlier is the character growth. For half a chapter we are introduced to the sad backstory of Character1, but one meal is all it takes to reform him into a total confident badass. But totally changing their life perspective from one meal? Even though there was this entire segment about them having these terrible thoughts and feeling confused for an inordinate amount of time, all it takes is a meal to reform them, and that just feels weird. If all character growth takes is a meal, do the characters change character every single time they have a meal with the cook? I understand that it was the conversation with the cook more than the meal itself that did the trick, but does that mean characters change character every conversation?

Another problem were the translating errors, which interrupted the flow and made reading awkward. Again all of this is my opinion, but there are plenty of other great stories out there involving cooking that I believe are better than "Cook of the Mercenary Corp". (E.g. "God of Cooking" and "Gourmet of another world")

Better translating and I will happily change my rating to a 4. <<less

The premise is simple, the characters have depth and it all fits together rather well.

There is the slapstick element where the author projects the same scene from different perspectives - from the naive, simplistic PoV of the protagonist and the deeper meaning that is inferred by others.

The food isn't as... inventive as others in the genre but like I said, it works.

Grammar: 2.7/5

Writing: 4.5/5 (+4)

Story: 3.2/5

This is a humorous parody that somehow comes across as slightly serious. The soul of cooking and the meaning of living a life for the little gains and happiness that come about every day are highlighted to an exceptional degree. The length of each chapter is exceptional and neither feels too long, nor too short. The characters have a definite trait to each of them, though this is slightly exaggerated by sentence endings (su, or Justice and the like) even without them you can get... more>> a feel for each character.

The grammar isn't the best, but the hard work can be clearly seen as almost 90% of the chapters comes through clear as day. The writing of the author is exceptional, able to convey feelings and concepts to a degree I find pleasant. The story itself is a mish-mash of themes tied together by cooking and slice-of-life, but does well to advance its plot points.

Over all, I recommend this series for a light hearted slice of life reader looking for a bit of comedy from multiple points of view. <<less

The overeaction on food tasting that reached those soldiers in another world.

They even told the story twice to give the overeaction better effect. One from the MC’s pov and one from the other people tasting his food.

Its pretty good but the story seem to repeat itself.

This is definitely a nice story to read. Its different from all that action type stuff and its about the character growing with the other characters (although there isnt actually that much growth in actuality). It's about how one man bonds a group of friends together stronger with a support that doesnt involve violence.

In the earlier chapters...

I really enjoy reading this novel. Since it's quite refreshing and relaxing slice of life story add in the fact that this novel has also a good comedy aspects to it.

You'll also enjoy reading on how Shuri affects the people around him. Well they're all pretty good POV chapters too!
