I was reincarnated as Rohana, a supporting character who, despite being the fiancée of the male lead, the crown prince, wishes for his happiness with the heroine and is killed by the villain.

To avoid my death, I decided to become the crown prince’s true lover this time, and I thought I had twisted the original plot just like that… but…

“Rohana, say hello. This is Aurelia.”

One day, shortly before the wedding, a shocking event occurred. The original heroine appeared as the crown prince’s secret lover.

I tried to break off the engagement and run away, but then Duke Delcliff, whom I thought was the mastermind for my death in the original story, suddenly proposed to me…?

“Make a contract with me. I will divorce you.”

Mentioning divorce, no less.

…Can I really trust this man?

▶ A brief preview

“Now that my business with you is over, has Aurelia returned?”

A face that seemed to crumble stared at her. It was a face of disbelief. Then it quickly turned as cold as ice.

“Rohana, Aurelia is only here temporarily.”

A rough sigh escaped from Rohana’s lips. Rohana shook her head. She didn’t want to hear it.

Rohana exhaled with a frown.

“You and Bardi Rentworth… are truly pathetic humans.”

“Rohana.”

She didn’t want to hear it.

“You saw me run away too…”

Rohana murmured. The moment she was caught by him on the day of the coronation felt as vivid as yesterday.

“Why did you have to be so mean about a subject that involved a contract marriage?”

Tears fell to the floor past her chin. Memories of the kiss that felt like a burn, the fingertips, the nights that were heated even in the cold winter, all tore through her heart.

At that moment, a hoarse voice rang out.

“I…”

How much time had passed? When Rohana lifted her head, she saw him.

“You can’t imagine that I did it out of love, can you?”

Rohana’s breath stopped for a moment. The sound that reached her ears slowly settled in her mind.

“I…”

His low voice was filled with pain like a needle.

“I did it because I fell in love with you.”

There is a lot of plot armor shielding the protagonists to a point it gets redundant to the story. There are two instances I can recount of the FL being in situations where she would be caught and thrown into prison, but with the help of the author's pen, she gets no consequences. ... more>>
Spoiler

Her little brother kidnaps the OG FL and FL helped cover it, but they get caught by the ML who then covers for them. Meanwhile the OG FL remembers that it was them who kidnapped her and demanded repercussions, but it never got far. And another time plot armor comes in is when FL sneaks into her father's office/ library (?) and takes something important and got caught but OG ML comes to the rescue and she gets away with it....

[collapse]
I mean at least the author is self aware how she favors her characters. During one of the side character's monologue, she observes how the FL is incredibly lucky and notices that it's very obvious that the FL will be fine. She then tells the FL that she doesn't understand why she's getting protected by the ML when the FL is reckless and the ML can't handle protecting her. It seemed a bit of a self-insert because why is a side character noticing the plot amor herself?

The author hesitates to put the characters through any real consequences of their own actions or in any risky situation at all. The plot became lacking very quickly bc there's little to no character development; and with the plot armors intervening, there's barely even character dynamics between each other. The only consequences shown are towards the side characters which ultimately gave them more depth and they became more interesting to understand rather than the main characters. In fact their back stories are more detailed than some of the main characters.

Another thing that made me give the review even lower points was that the FL is a self-pity party. She even acknowledges that the people around her have it harder than her and yet kept an ignorant act until the very last moment when it was already too late to be nonchalant.
Spoiler

In the case of her personal maid, Jody, it was such a pitiful arc and it infuriated me how Jody started life miserably and ended the same way when all she wanted was for her family to be taken care of, but the trauma was all too much for the young lady and becomes a minion for the antagonist. She got ab*sed severely by Rohana's father and Rohana knows that all her maids were tortured in order to indirectly hurt her. She would turn a blind eye to the scars peeking from Jody's sleeves and selfishly keep Jody on her side because she is FL's only friend, knowingly how badly she's suffering yet fired other maids. FL confessed how she should have given Jody another job security sooner, but only gave it to her as they were going to separate bc the broken engagement w/ the CP. When Jody betrayed FL, she was completely oblivious why Jody would do such a thing and she tried to save Jody at the very last minute, but Jody was too far deep into her vengeance. Also FL switches up 180 during the integration, from tearing up for Jodi (to which Jodi rejects her tears and her help), then the FL tells Jodi to try to kill her and insinuated that Jodi is the one speaking with ease???? ML saves the FL and asks her if she wants to die, and nearly kills Jodi for FL's actions. FL goes back to coarse Jody to confess and the only thing that comes from this arc is Jody's story, her observations of Rohana, and after almost 20 chapters of the incident, still no clues to the actual reasons why Jodi tried to commit mu*der.

[collapse]

Rohana even tried to put her little brother up for ransom because he's the heir so she can distract the ML. Now I'm all for girl bosses running away from their future killer and I knew from the prologue, but now that I've read it, why add in someone innocent especially a child at harm? Surely there's better ways to negotiate. Her little brother is so sweet towards her and cares for her deeply, meanwhile she's willing to sacrifice him with "sincerity" since men are considered more valuable. This lady started giving out black mail referrals amidst her break down without letting the ML speak. A habit she will continue to do even at ch 67.

And is it a crime for MLs to have an ounce of personalities? The ML is another generic typical cold, brooding bland guy that lets miscommunication happen. His decisions continue to make situations worse and his intentions are so vague, it makes the plot holes even bigger every time he appears. He's too busy ogling the FL and she's running around trying to figure out answers. Just get rid of him along with the OGML. It's better off that Rohana finds her own path rather than relying on men causing her more drama.

Overall, the story is mediocre at best. Translation is amazing, but it can't save the story. <<less
