In college, Zhou Jingze and Xu Sui were very different from each other— their paths would never cross.

One was a free spirit, a moon surrounded by a myriad of stars. The other was a well-behaved and quiet girl, easy to be ignored.

As she finished her assignments one after another in the library, she had no intention to listen to matters regarding him and others. Yet, she had witnessed him changing girlfriends one after another.

At a party, Xu Sui was drunk and summoned up the courage to confess to him.

Zhou Jingze froze for a moment, then raised the corners of his lips and said casually: “I’m sorry, you are too well-behaved and quiet.”

They met again, countless times, whether it was intentionally or unintentionally. Xu Sui should have pushed down her thoughts and kept a distance from him.

Yet, he kept pressing, leaving her nowhere to hide. Finally, Xu Sui was against a wall: “Why me?” Zhou Jingze lowered his head and whispered to her: “There is no why; I used to be blind.”

I'm actually a little... Disappointed in this. I was really really hooked in the beginning, I have a soft spot for female leads who have really cute crushes, and male leads who are seemingly carefree but actually really nice on the inside. And this novel really knows how to make these characters come to life.

Xu Sui in love is so cute, and Zhou Jingze is so charismatic. I love the writing! I love the angst!

But. But.

First of all.

Seriously, Jingze. STOP SLAMMING HER INTO STUFF!! Bang! And she's pressed against a door. Another Bang! And he pushes her against a table. I won't even count the wrist grabbing, ok?

And all this... When she and you have broken up for so many years... Urgh...

I want to like you, but my goodness... You can't be mad at her for trying to date WHEN YOU 2 HAVE BROKEN UP.

That is one of several reasons I honestly couldn't bring myself to fully like Zhou Jingze. Another reason might be because I really sympathize with Xu Sui, she had a crush for a ridiculous number of years and when they started the relationship, she was like 200% in, while he was only 170% in. The whole romantic point of the novel is for the male lead to be at 200% too. But I don't think it really reaches that balance, it's more like the female lead, 220%, and the male lead, 200%.

And for a spoiler within a spoiler:

Spoiler

I really was shocked by the ending. So Xu Sui is a doctor and does really well for herself at a hospital she's used to, with pretty decent co-workers around. Basically, she's built a pretty great life for herself.

But at the end, she resigns to join her "true love" at his workplace, which is in the rescue forces. PLEASE DON'T GET ME WRONG, the rescue forces are fantastic, they are heroes.

What I can't stand is not that she went to work there, it's that she went there to follow a man.

Now, in the book, they bring some sort of high handed justification, like she wants to see the good in humanity, but hey. Seriously. If Jingze didn't join the rescue forces, and just stayed a regular pilot, would she really join the forces?

I love when characters find their true purposes and it's great if it happens to be saving people's lives, but this. This.

It hurts me because I feel like it made Xu Sui go from a strong independent woman who holds her own to just a wife who follows her husband around.

[collapse]

I think I really underestimated how much Xu Sui and this book, by derivation, revolves around Zhou Jingze. In a very unusual way that I have rarely felt, I really think... Jingze isn't actually good for her. He covers up her mistakes instead of actually letting her grow. The feeling I get from her is... She's so dependent on him... She's desperate for his love... And Jingze knows this, he uses it and has abused it. Sure, he loves her back and he makes amends. But for his own reasons, he fosters her dependence on him. She never really finds herself or becomes a strong confident person... She just finds him and falls in love.

Their relationship... Is not something I would want for myself tbh...

The 4 stars are for the wonderful writing and build up, as well as the side characters. Sixi, be happy!!!

Overall, it's an engaging story with the perfect build up, and a somewhat disappointing resolution.

All this of course is just my opinion, and I think many would enjoy the novel a lot. It's pretty subjective and depends on personal taste.

I binged through this and unfortunately haven’t been able to remember a lot.

This story is a mix of ‘’Unrequited Love’’ and ‘Ruochun and Jingming’’ which is why I might have liked it a lot more than I thought.

Their story was quite cute when they were in college. Xu Sui’s stubbornness dragged the story longer, and it never made sense to me why she refused him so much when the poor guy was overflowing with love for her. It did frustrate me. At some point, every time she rejected the poor... more>> ML, I was hurting twice as hard for the ML. His personality really does change from beginning to start and my memory is a little blurry of how he was like at the start.

This is really a story about the unwavering love between two people.

Spoiler

Other thing I wanted to mention. I was really sad about HXX. It really came out of nowhere and I may not have picked up the hints. What surprised me more was the way Sheng Nanzhou completely lost hope by the end of it, and gave up on HXX (which at the time was completely understandable) This poor guy loved her for so long, but because of misunderstandings, time and age, they never properly got together until the end of it. The story weaves hints at their own stories, but by the end it it never actually blooms. I was just surprised by his acceptance. Even I found it hard to accept.

It's pretty interesting especially since our FL is a capable and hardworking surgeon (I think? she's definitely a doctor though) while our ML is a pilot.

As of chapter 4, the ML seems like the scum of the earth as insinuated by the summary (I'm exaggerating...I know but still!) It seems the story alternates between the present and the past when they were in college that reveal more of their interactions!! This style is enjoyable since we will be able to easily see how the ML changes!!

The translation is... more>> excellent so I'm definitely looking forward to reading this story!! Totally recommend!! <<less

I'm waiting for someone to pick it up for translation. I read a few MTL chapters after 60 but such a beautiful story doesn't deserve a perfunctory reading.

So far the ML is a tr*sh but that's what he is from the beginning and he doesn't pretend to be a good guy, but the over-good FL had to fall in love with him.. did she never felt to be wild, whining and noisy? But she didn't have the situation or the luxury to be one.. she is the ever considerate and... more>> obedient little girl who is lost in the pretentious crowd..

The only thing she wanted was to be the Only One for the ML, but what she became later is yet to be discovered...

Waiting....... <<less

To start with the author’s writing, the writing is really mild good, easy to imagine each scenes.

I would like to start with the things I personally like. I like the angst during the seperation arc (lowkey gave me hella anxiety). It was a good reunited arc that would make me clenched my toes together. The relationship between the CP seems realistic to me (which can be relatable).

Something that I personally not enjoy with the story is ML’s relationship with the childhood girl friend. I just don’t like her in general... more>> (maybe cause of my trauma but anyway). The author wrote her well... to the point I got so mad about it. A lot of girls that crushes/crushed on the ML in the past or present are insanely annoying as hell... like too many of them keep spawning out of no where.

I will give it a 3.8/5. Was it the best thing I’ve ever read? No. Is it bad? Not at all. It’s just medium for me. If you want some soft cute college life with good amount of angst, give this a try! <<less

There are so many points to consider to read this novel right now the plot was told and described by the author in such a good way in the starting that it felt like the campus life was the beginning of the story instead of their reconciliation and reunion arc

  • It was written so well for me I liked the first arc the most and enjoyed it thoroughly
  • The second arc was one where they reunited years after their breakup in the story in this arc few chapters were too frustrating and anxiety givers that it annoyed the f*ck out of me but it was worth it their reunion
  • The way they came to about eachother sacrifices caring nature at their worst times after such a long time was giving logic to the base for their reconciliation of relationship and opening towards eachother
  • The gains the losses and years of youth they missed because of lack of communication was giving and adding little and more drama and twist to novel plot
  • Both love eachother so much you will get to know that in the last few chapters if novel
  • Their acceptance and understanding later in the chapters will provide a little clarity to readers mind
  • What I liked the most was the side characters fl's best friend and ML's niece hu quanxi (xixi) for me she was the cutest in the story I found her really innocent and lively for the story but the author didn't give justice to her story part she died in the novel for main story part because of her weak heart which she has since childhood the author should have atleast given a little bit more for her and nanzhou's love story to happen poor boy and my poor girl I really cried when she died in the story
  • But wait the author provided last two chapters with xixi and nanzhou and described their happy living story in a parallel world scenario where she is healthy and they met again in high school and you know what our FL (xu sui) also made a cameo but these characters in last chapters are from parallel world not related to main story's world but yes ML was not mentioned in this parallel world story of xixi and nanzhou I hope them a happy ending
  • If there's another story by the same author of confession quanxi and nanzhou as main characters I will definitely read it.....
  • For the main story it is a happy ending both leads are happy 🥰

Discovered this Novel because of the recent Manhua adaption and I just had to rush over to read this.

The attraction might be because I have a similar personality to Xu Sui so I sympathize with and understand her A LOT. Her insecurities truly shape her personality and thoughts throughout this novel.

She's quiet and timid, but strong.

I also love Jingze and his devotion to her after falling in love.

Spoiler

I was impatient and read the ahead chapters and some misunderstandings, unfortunately, causes them to break up. I think that Jingze really showcases how much he cares and loves Su Xui through his actions. He pays attention to her and her surroundings. Someone that carries the necessities because he knows that you're cold, announces to the world that you're his girl because he knows that you still doubt his love, buys strawberries for you because you glance by it once and he knows that you want it. Shows intimacy and his physical touch. He never wants to make you feel uncomfortable. Protects you time and time again.

I thought that Xu Sui would be secure enough to say that IT'S HER MAN, but her insecurities really overtook her courage and her cowardness side, and decide to take a step back. It hurts me that she always pushes him away and doubts his love for her despite everything he's done to ensure that SHE knows how much he REALY loves her.

[I still think the misunderstanding can be easily resolved if they communicate with each other]

I still can't blame her but truly understand if I look at Su Xui's perspective. Separation is the best solution for them to grow by being apart from each other, but even after that, their miscommunication lasts for so long.

Going to edit and update it later if I ever finish this :) Just venting some frustrations but feel free to enlighten me. <<less
