The premise of the story is good. The MC is too perfect tho but I love how she is strong. But maybe I'm not used with the writing yet. It seems to lack character development. So it's a bit monotone for everyone.

The Story is interesting. From tax Office Lady to Business woman in other World lol. I live strong MC (not some weak girl and Have to be protected by man like other stories). She overcame many obsticles splendidly.. Well with little Bit help from First Prince. I Still waiting for mc's happy ending and fallen for that s*upid second Prince and his b*tch heroine.

Thank you for These wonderful translation <3 I hope for more updates soon :)

So far a good light novel that surprised me when I saw the reincarnation tag. It does keep you in suspense when the MC goes through tough times. The only downside I have is with the translation jump, though its understandable why.

Main points:

  1. There is no magic
  2. The MC isn't omnipotent
  3. You start of at the worst ending of a bad otome game.
  4. Good drama and suspense
I'll try and explain without spoilers. By using her wits and the knowledge she has from her previous life, she made a name for herself and a good... more>> standing. But, do to political issues in the kingdom she gets in trouble, though she doesn't want anything to do with the capital. <<less

I like this story.

Translators are good. Though they jump around to different translator teams. But then that's because the original translator had some medical issues arise. Life happens. All in all the current team is good. I've read other stuff from them.

The story is good. If you like kingdom building, or in this case Dukedom building, it's not a bad story. The MC or should that be FC for Female Character is NOT OP off the bat. Like others recommend, it is very much in some ways like Release that... more>> Witch, without the magic / super powers (maybe in later books we get that? probably not).

As of chapter 84 there is NO signs of magic or magical beings or fantasy elves. sigh. So if you read for that reason, you're not gonna like this.

Science is low key, but there.

This IS a foodie kind of story and modern corporate culture is developing as well through the efforts of our FC.

"Deliciousness is justice, nanodesu!" - that is a cross dimensional rule of thumb. (if you EVER plan on transmigrating, you MUST memorize some good food recipes... lol)

Our FC win's by words and deductive skills, with wits and NOT always brawn or OP cheat skills.

Very much like Roland from RTW in that way. (though he does use "magic" to cheat with industrialization)

Overall I would recommend this story to new readers. Don't let the girl thing fool you. She gives as good as she gets.

Be seeing you on the forums and discussion sections! <<less

It is an interesting read, as the earlier bits focus on developing a medieval realm with modern business concepts like double entry accounting, and asset management.

As the story strays from that earlier concept however, the story is not as appealing as before.

I have a love/hate relationship with this novel. Why?

1. I like that the female lead is smart and decisive, but she's way too knowledgeable for an accountant. (You'll know why after you read it). All that aside, I love how she's warm and cold at the same time. She's cool-headed at handling situations and think things through before acting. She's not impulsive unlike other MCs who react because of their emotions. The ML on the other hand is interesting but I can't 'feel' him. (Maybe it's because I need more... more>> chapters of him to fully understand his point of view) but as of now he is okay.

2. The business aspect was good at the start but it became quite boring and repetitive in the later chapters. There are times where I just skip the whole business talk coz it's too monotonous.

3. The MCs involvement regarding the throne is well-played and more interesting to read despite it being a plot frequently used in other stories. <<less

This light novel has a lot of talk about introducing some ideas and systems in the MC's other life. I feel like some may find this hard to understand or follow, but I really love the idea of the MC being so forward in her role. Really enjoying this novel overall.

One complaint: WHY ARE THE CHAPTERS SO SHORT.

This series is one of those with female protagonist that I rarely read and end up liking. Mainly because I'm not very fond of stuff with weak, damsel in distress main characters.

The main character, Iris, is a strong, smart and independent woman who can manage a fief and her own company side by side. She's a very likeable character and that's probably the biggest reason why I love reading this.

For the plot, there definitely is one besides her management and building of her... more>> company and family's land. She is slowly getting involved with the fight over the throne and there are also dirty scheming plots in the background that might end up having their country go to another war.

The flow of the story is definitely great and enjoyable and it even has mystery and political battles included in it. Definitely a great find.

Read it for strong and witty female protagonist and the progressing plot. <<less

What I like about this novel is the idea, which, I think, most of the readers from the west didn't quite understand simple because most of us don't know what otome games are. Heroines of such games always go thought some major changes in their life which lead them to meeting a bunch of handsome guys. Players always cose great changes to the world of the game, but what other characters of the game think about such changes? Do they like them? What do they think about a girl, that... more>> appeared out of nowhere and turned their everyday life upside down? If some random girl suddenly started flirting with your betrothed, wouldn't you hate her and maybe even do something to her? In the game those girls are labeled "villains", but are they really?

This novels MC is just such a "villain". It's not a story told from a bad characters perspective like most people tend to think. It's a different perspective at those otome games girls in the eastern countries like to play!

But although I like the idea, the novel itself is pretty plain. I couldn't really feel the tension even when MC was going through big problems. Same goes for other characters. I couldn't really sympathies with them. Basically, this novel is exactly like those otome games. It has only one point and that is mc's love story! <<less

The plot of the story is nice and Could have been epic but no, it just drags on and on and on. The plot is very slow pace. Very very very slow pace at first. It should come with a warning sign : slow paced plot, read at your own risk. And then suddenly there is a time jump and you are left confused about what even happened. The tone in which the novel proceeds is also not enough to build up any tension and suspense. At times it seems... more>> transparent and you already know what is going to happen next. The plot is something new and interesting but the way it is presented, it's not able to arouse my interest in reading it. But to each their own. But it does have some nice illustrations so you can associate a face to the characters.

It's a typical "otome game to which the MC transmigrates as villain" but with the twist that she is enters the game when the game plot for her is already over. So she doesn't know what the future will be. She is not a Mary sue thankfully. She is also not dense. Smart and plans well too. She wants to build her life away from the people who bullied her. And she is very straightforward about her goals.

Don't know how she was labelled as "villian" because the original " villain" seemed to be an okay person. She actually turned out to not be a villain at all.

But the character development appears to be very slow or even not happening at all. There's almost a robotic feel to them. And the conversation between them is very bland and repetitive. To many it may seem polite and posh, but I think no body talks like that (very robotic).

There are also a lot of change of povs so you get a lot of info about other characters.

Also its not your typical reverse harem story. I f you are here because of the shoujo tag and expect a whirlwind romance then sorry to say that's not happening. The first few dozens of chapters are all business. Romance comes in the later parts.

It's filled with plot holes with extra details not necessary for the plot at all. But if anyone is okay with this kind of pace of the story and is interested in this " management " genre with a smart female MC then go ahead. Read the first few chapters at least and you can decide for yourself. <<less

I can tell why people like it but I don't. The start was awfully weird for me I did kinda get hype-y for a moment when she became the feudal lord or smth but the hype didn't last. Felt a little bit rushed or lacked foundation. Didn't really show me an opportunity to know the MC or at least understand or sympathise with her or at least give me something that would make me know her plans to get hyped about. At least that's for me. That's why even... more>> though smth like Emperor's Domination I find repetitive a lot the hype gets me going. Hype and appeal are important factors in my book. <<less

Duke's Daughter is light novel, where when the heroine wakes up, she finds herself in an otome game, wherein she is the villain. Furthermore, it is already the ending of the game, meaning that she will meet her dead end soon.

This is the starting point of the story and from there, the heroine is trying everything to avoid that bad ending. During her path of redemption, the reader finds out that the 'villainess' is actually a likable and noble person, for example rescuing and recruiting orphans when she was young.

Characters:

The... more>> MC is not exactly what you expect, in a good sense. Despite being a villain, she clearly shows noble and good character traits

However, and this is likely due to the 'transmigration/reincarnation into game'-thing, she also proves herself to be reliable and smart, with a clear sense of business and certain understanding for economy, which is unsurprising, considering that she used to work as a accountant in her previous life. I like that for the first time we have a 'reincarnation' story with an unusual profession. Most of the times we have assassins transported into martial arts world, nerds and gamers into game worlds, sometimes investigators, managers and other dominant professions.
But here we have an office lady, which at first glance seems rather boring and here is where she proves the readers wrong, because in fact she takes advantage of her previous knowledge. By doing so, we additionally have a connection between her previous life and her present life, which is not always a given. I have read enough previous live stories without taking advantage or bringing anything contributing up to wonder why they bother in the beginning.

Here, the story makes sense and I love that.

She is not OP, because as the story progresses, there is a point where someone remarks how surprising it was that even she does not know everything.

A lot of people have complained about the side characters, saying that they are too flat, as well as complaining that the additional POVs from other characters are unnecessary. The former, I can argue with that, but the latter I completely disagree.

Surely, there are rooms for more development. There are a few introduced characters, who after introduction and after giving a few details are not further mentioned and I also felt that this was a pity. However, not all of them are flat. For example the MCs relationship with her father, at first it was rather ambiguous and unclear, a few misunderstandings, which is great, because it keeps me on the edge and makes me root for more scenes and development with these two. The Queen Dowager was also a nice surprise, which I would not have expected, just to mention.

Now to the 'unnecessary POVs', to which I completely disagree, as I have already mentioned! First of all, some have criticized that the characters are undeveloped and at the same time claim that their POVs are unnecessary, which does not make sense at all. How can characters develop when the readers does not get to know their intentions and feelings? If these POVS were left out, there will be even less mention of these characters. Instead I consider these POVs as a chance for characters to be recognized and be shown to be present. By reading them, the reader is given a chance to view each character with their own thoughts.

Secondly, most of the story is written in limited third person narration of the MC, so by writing the POVs, the readers get a chance to receive detailed left out by the MC, such their impression of her or her accomplishment.

Plot:

I stumbled upon the novel through a manga adaption. Though it was short, I was instantly hooked up.

It starts fabulously, the premise very interesting and well-done, from the way she manages to handle her situation to her plans. It has a lot of potential, when I began reading this, her path of redemption

One disappointment I had was when I realized that the villainess was not very... villainous. Rather, it is being pushed aside in favour for the excuse that jealousy had blinded her and that the game made a wrong impression of her due to omission. I find that to be a pity since it would have served to be a great opportunity to give more depth to the story and to the moral between good and bad. The MC, with her later knowledge, does not make any further comment on her action, not explicitly. Her stance is not clear, at least to me and this will probably not be picked up anymore by the way how the story progress looks like, so I guess I just have to live with it.

Still the novel in some part succeeds in questioning the order of an otome game and reverse harems and generally the typical order of viewing the naive girl as good and the ditched fiancee as villain.

Spoiler

There was one scene, where the otome heroine actually suggests reducing the finances of the military in order to save money, in a very naive, child-like tone. Now for a person, who has majors in political science or any person with a common sense, this is ridiculous and for the first time, I just realized how scary such naivety could be. That scene in that aspect was great, in a way that it was very scary.

[collapse]

The pace of the story is very slow and at times jumpy.

Spoiler

The readers follows as she builds up her conglomerate. It is very detailed. Personally, I did not have a problem with that. I actually found it to be pretty cool as she sets out an independent life for her, creating what seems to be a monopoly position and a solid and high position in the economy of the whole kingdom. After all that she endured, my sense of justice as a reader felt very satisfied.

Generally, concerning the pace, I am very ambiguous. Such a great venture cannot be covered in a few chapters, so I felt that the fact they jumped in time to be a pity. There was one part of me, who wished to see more and what else she has accomplished. On the other hand, I am also annoyed by the pace, especially the romance.

[collapse]

Romance:

The romance is slow. Very slow. Right now, the male lead is finally introduced. The waiting was agonizing and even now, there is no real romantic interaction between them, in fact, they have interacted in one chapter. This is so frustrating.

However, since we have not reached the end yet, I can say that I am willing to wait, because the up until now, it is still in the reasonable area and the male lead is very promising. Besides, I acknowledge the fact that the frustration stems from my position as a reader, as well as the promising future couple, at least I hope so.

It is also not wrong to not focus so much on the romance part. Right now, we have a beautiful and very successful MC, who is wary of love and she has every reason to. But keep in mind: she is successful and also content with her situation. Her man focus is not romance, but to achieve success, helping the people by reordering her fief and its economy. That and surviving in this game. So basically, what is wrong with that situation? Is it not great that she does not rely on a man to survive in this world and make a name for herself?

There is a part of me that wishes for more drama, and another part that just wish the best for her and for the MC to continue riding on that high wave, due to the humiliation she had to go through.

Translations:
The translations are very lengthy and I enjoyed the reading experience. I was also glad that the first chapters were not in black background, because I find it terrible for my eyes to read. They translator did a good job and the English is also good.

For now, I gave it five stars. Although the suspense has lessened through the chapters in comparison to the beginning and losing some of its initial potential, it is still a good and captivating story, which still has me hooked up. Enough for me to keep reading. Furthermore the story is still unique in comparison to other transmigration and especially transported-into-another- (game-) world stories. Especially in the latter category, it is in no way inferior with its solid plot and MC, whose reason and action does not lose herself into ridiculousness.

Since it is still in translation, I will keep it at five stars, depending on how the story progresses, but up until now, aside from lack of character development, a small decline in its suspense/ loss of potential, <<less

I just love how this series is not actually centered on her getting one of the capture targets or all of them, with it going more in depth with her interaction with others, and I just love the fact that even before she crossed over the original person wasn't actually a bully or a horrible person who used their position as a weapon, unlike in most others I have read.

Really love it!!!

Well the background it same with other reincarnation story, but with different plot. Because the MC start her story when she already get the bad ending. Then she trying to start new life with become the land lord in her city, and become success. I like her become independent and smart when problem come to her. The story maybe little complex and boring when talk about governor and economic problem like tax etc. I recommend to read the novel rather then manga version, because when you read manga... more>> version you will not know MC thought. <<less

I do not really care about the backstory (usually: truck-sempai mu*dered me; I'm inside my favorite game; I've been summoned to defeat the demon lord; etc.) which in this case is: "I'm the bad girl in an otome game I've played and I have to change the story's original script in order to make it". What the MC does is pretty interesting so far. It would be even better if the author was more technical but he/she probably doesn't have the knowledge to do so. I know the next chapters... more>> are more about politics, religion & PR and less about commerce & trade; we'll see how it goes. <<less

Really interesting. MC was an accountant and basically uses her knowledge of finance and real world management to establish herself in the new world.

Spoiler

As of the recent chapters she starts to get more involved with the political undercurrents of the new world. Not getting swept along with the flow, but actually influencing it in order to protect her interests

It’s a good light hearted reincarnation/game villainess story. Rather than the villainess stories where the MC. Try to avoid the impending doom, in this novel MC meets her end in the game/life (Actually that’s the point where she recovers her past life memories) and the things she do after the crisis she faced. Its more like a political drama than usual reincarnation op MC stories. Would recommend to anyone who is looking for something different to read.
