It's inevitable that this story gets compared to the author's other story, "Side Character Transmigrations: The Final Boss is No Joke" but really, they are not *that* similar aside from being BG quick transmigration stories with an OP female main character.

If we really have to compare, then I do admit that the MC in this story is a little less likeable than Shi Sheng, particularly in the earlier arcs where her most notable characteristic - gluttony - is overemphasized. I do feel that MC's characterization improves slowly in the later... more>> arcs.

On the other hand, I do like the ML of this story over Feng Ci, even though he doesn't even show up until arc 3, doesn't choose to try and woo MC until arc 6 (for ulterior motives), and they don't truly enter into a genuine relationship until arc 9. Note: the "male leads" from the first two worlds are not the ML of the story, they are "native" NPCs of the world who originally had hidden feelings for the character that MC displaced, and those feelings came out due to the changes MC made by her presence.

Anyway, I like the ML of this story better because he has agency which Feng Ci never did
Spoiler

as a system-based quick transmigrator himself

[collapse]
. He has his own hidden goals, his own ambitions, his considerations, and we get to see some of the mental process of him actually choosing to invest emotionally into MC. It makes it fun to watch him and MC dance around each other, testing each other, and then finally choosing each other despite all the risks and unknowns they know that the other poses.

So, four stars for the overall stories. Then +1 star for the ML. <<less

Although there were repetitive plots and jokes, I liked the story. I loved the fact that ML wasn't impractically "overbearing, cold and aloof". I am sick of MCs who can't hold a handle to ML's greatness. Its always ' the female protagonist is black-bellied and can literally topple up countries but the male protagonist can topple up the whole world '. This novel had quite a refreshing approach regarding this attitude and thus, it successfully managed to subdue its drawbacks, atleast from my point of view. I recommend this novel... more>> to all the readers out there who are craving for a female protagonist who actually remains independent and self-reliant. I guess, I'm a bit biased but then again, do I care ? No, that's the answer. <<less

Funny at first but after a while it's rinse and repeat to me. Most of the jokes is about her and her food to the point my heart and mind just quit laughing.

Honestly, I read this like many people after reading side character transmigrations but I think this one is genuinely better. This is very different in many ways (ML relationship and just general personalities) but similar in others (the kind of I don't give a f*ck mc) and I seriously think that this is one of the best written quick transmigration stories. It's entertaining without being boring.

I would recommend like other reviewers to wait till after arc 2 or 3 to make judgements since the ML doesn't even show up till... more>> arc 3 and their feelings don't really develop till much later. The first two arcs aren't really great, I'll admit.

The protagonist in the beginning just seems like a gluttonous woman who cares about nothing but food (which Is actually kind of true because of reasons that are kind of explained), but she does eventually have quite a bit of depth later on. I think that she's the type of character that a lot of webnovels want to write but get wrong. She doesn't care about others opinions, doesn't really bother with scheming and etc and just does things outright, doesn't take or focus on extreme revenge constantly. Like that I won't care about you if you don't bother me type (unless she needs hatred points lol).

It's the type of character a lot of authors want to write but fail to make endearing a lot of the time. I think it's both because she has her own morals like she's willing to beat people up, torture even, but she doesn't cross the line of decency in my opinion with r*pe punishments or other things you see in webnovels. Her number one rule for herself is also that she won't kill.

Spoiler

In the arc called career traitorist? She breaks the rule for the first time and there has been a tragic or somewhat complicated past hinted at with how much destruction she causes by killing off essentially a whole city's worth of people at once.

[collapse]

Additionally, somewhat unlike Shi Sheng from SCT she actually does care about people besides the ML which I think is pretty rare. She might not be willing to get close to most people obviously, but there are several notable side characters, female protagonists, and etc where you can genuinely feel the friendship even if MC pretends not to give a f*ck. Also in some arcs, where the ML somehow isn't there or something, there are other characters who have feelings for her and she does her best to tell them no and discourage them- some times she'll just make sure they never see her again.

But the main reason I love this story so much is the male lead and his relationship with the MC. ML is also a system transmigrated whos goal generally is to kill or make the MC fall in love with him. He's part of an organization while MC kind of isn't so he's bound to a lot more rules. The problem is that he loses his memory of the mission worlds after he completes them as the emotions could overload him basically (there's a whole background for him that hasn't been explained yet). Anyway he doesn't realize he keeps falling in love with the same woman over and over at first but later due to a malfunction manages to remember somewhat and leave hints for himself. So he thinks the MC doesn't remember him from before (otherwise why would she keep being so hard to get) and she thinks he doesn't.

I don't even know how to explain it besides the fact their relationship is literally the most entertaining thing I've read in a good while. In the beginning, she was trying to gain hatred points from him by trying to infuriate him while he was trying to make her fall in love for his mission. This kind of bickering and amusing relationship carries on all the while and I just love them so much. ML isn't some cold, poker face male lead and he genuinely does get angry and sometimes he even wants to make her regret things, but unfortunately he can't ooc like the MC can so he's unable to do much lmao. Also he genuinely loves her and she loves him even if she has a weird way of showing it.

Overall one of the best stories I've read. I didn't even skip over any chapters which is super rare for me In a webnovel this long. I love the personalities of the main couple and even the side characters so much a lot of the time and they try not to get caught up in repetitive revenge though her method of earning hatred points is to just beat up the fake female protagonist until they hate her lmao. I give this a solid 10/10 and can't wait to find out the back stories which are just starting to really be revealed. <<less

Reading this novel in one go rather then weekly made me realise how well written the story is, familiar terms being brought up, ample foreshadowing, consistent character features and plot points... it was very interesting picking up on these things as we get more answers to the world, and the identities of our protagonists. I can see why people think that the MC is boring, but she seems to be quite the layered character as well the more you read on, it is a long novel though so that may... more>> take a little too long for some readers. <<less

The jokes in this book aren't that great, and MC's attitude towards everything around her is just disappointing. The romance between MC and ML does not progress at all. After 2 arcs even with ML chasing MC, MC just ignores ML which is just rude tbh.

Spoiler

MC's character seems to not have a heart? In arc 2 she kinds of watch someone commit su*cide while eating snacks... While she did talk to the character that was suicidal it seemed to me that MC just could not care less about the people in this world.

[collapse]

The stories of the arcs are different and pretty interesting, which is the only plus point of this novel...

tl;dr, MC is indifferent towards everything around her, focuses only on foods that she can eat. <<less

3 stars, +2 because of the good romance.
The first two arcs of the novel are kinda averagebad but once the ML gets introduced the novel quickly improves.

I generally hate romance in QT stories because the ML are just flower vases and once they are introduced the story quickly evolves into slice of life of the MC and her hubby, losing the initial appeal as seen in the other work of the same author (The Final Boss is no Joke) and in most other QTs.

That is absolutely not the case... more>> here, the ML is another world-hopper and both the ML and MC have purposes and sometimes conflict of interests so there's always something going on at any moment, even after they become a couple.

The interaction and the romance between the the two of them is what makes this novel special and unique, it's really slow but cute and fun, you see them probing each other, trying to understand each other and finally investing into their relationship despite the odds and unknowns.

Beside the romantic aspect and sometimes the comedy the novel lacks other high notes, the other characters are forgettable to say the least, the storylines are okayish but the faceslapping isn't really memorable and often evolves into an outright beating of the fake leads (funny at times and understandable considering her goal tbh)

Overall an average read compared to better QT stories like Cannon Fodder's Record of Counterattack. <<less

From an objective POV, this is an average story. Not the most original. But I'm hooked on due to the MC. I can relate to MC's disinterest in the world, and pretty much most of her personality.

One thing I really liked about this webnovel (although the main plot may seem repetitive to some readers), I caught on the clues about the backstory of the MC by the end of third arc. Pretty satisfied with the pace; for me, it's like the go-to reads at the end of a tiring day.

Don't... more>> read this if you're into stories that make you think through the plot intrigues too much. <<less

this novel is a masterpiece, deeper than it seems.

at the start many people may not like it because of the FL's personality, she seems to only care about snacks and because her task is gaining hatred points from the fake female protagonists it looks like she is really mean & has no bottom line, so this leads to the first two arcs leaving people dumfounded, but as the story progresses so those the characters

we learn about the reason behind the FL obsession with food ... more>>
Spoiler

she has to eat constantly to have strength, they really haven´t specified it yet, but is something related to her life energy

[collapse]

also we got to know the ML from the third arc
Spoiler

he´s a transmigrator whose misión is to "eliminate" the FL because she is a bug in the system. He has two ways to do that: kill her or make her fall in love with him

[collapse]

although the FL always appears to be smiling, we learn that
Spoiler

she also feels lonely after transmigrating through each world, so after learning about the ML she decides to accept him and he fills her lonely heart.

[collapse]

the romance between the main characters is really different because both of them are really shameless, so although they always quarrel with each other, they also take great care of each other. Sometimes spreading dog food unintentionally.

although it takes time for the romance to escalate when it does it´s quite satisfying, and they get together since arc 6, but is until later chapthers that their relationship progresses slowly to true love

Spoiler

in later arcs we see the ML fighthing against the system trying to remember the FL, because they always erase his memory, but somehow he leaves a clue for himself so that he can recognize her during each arc

[collapse]

Spoiler

also they have to fight with other transmigrators sent to kill the FL, especially a psychopath that is the ML natural enemy

The amount of times I've read "they're/are they going to steal my snacks" or "blah blah blah so that they can inherit my snacks" in this story has got me seriously irritated...

Much prefer the authors other novel. Her MCs there are wayýyyyy more interesting.

Don't know how the author hadn't gotten bored of her own character.

It's really hard to get through each arc when she does the same boring thing all the time, plus the story of the arcs are not really written well.

Having read this author's other work, this story was... Kind of a let down. It's hilarious, but the main character, Ming Shu's, personality isn't likeable at all to me. While I don't expect any logic in a transmigration LN, I do expect some things to make sense. The "ML", if you can even call him that, is so pitiful and pathetic, he might as well not exist. Maybe I should give it another chance, but I doubt it would change how dull I find this story despite the recycled comedy... more>> of being a foodie. <<less

I absolutely love this novel. The best thing is the MC, our glutton Ming Shu, who is a cold yet funny person (I love her personality). Second, the plots are written very well and not at all repeating. The writing style is very good and gives a feeling of familiarity, as we even come to like even the audience in the novel. The novel is very sarcastic and full of humour.

It's actually very good. The MC is a bit different from Shi Sheng and Chu Zheng in personality, but not in her ability to steamroll over everyone. I quite like her.

As for those that are annoyed at Ming Shu's (our MC) 'gluttony' and her need for SNACKS, rest assured, there is a reason. Food = Life, quite literally (snacks are used to replenish her life bar, as she puts it). It all gets revealed slowly as the story goes on (tho why snacks=life has not yet been revealed as of... more>> chapter 1084 (where current translation is at), but I have read the answer in the spoilers). It's also the reason she never gets fat. She's constantly hungry.

Also, for those that are annoyed by SNACKS (as I had been when I started reading), it starts getting toned down after arc 3 or 4. Less emphasis is put on it the more both plot and relationship between MC and ML progress over the arcs. Snacks will still be present, but as long as you tough through your irritation at snacks during the first few worlds you'll start enjoying the story way more.

NOTICE - the ML doesn't appear until Arc 3. And they have no ''romantic'' interactions until Arc 5 (these two take time and many arcs to have real feelings for each other, even if the ML pursues her - you'll see). <<less

Well at first I really liked the story because before I read the novel I first saw it a manhua. But I have to say this is the worst transmigration story that I've ever read. I get it she liked her food but the jokes are repetitive. And the ML (at this point I'm doubting if I should call him the male lead) is just plain pitiful. The MC doesn't even show an ounce of concern for the ml. All she cares about is her food, she doesn't even care... more>> if someone commited su*cide in front of her, she just continued to eat her snacks (arc 2)

  1. I reall think that the MC is really heartless. And she doesn't care about anyone at all. If given the chance I WILL NEVER READ THIS STROY AGAIN. I don't think I can redeem this story and re-read it again. I have dropped this novel at arc. 4 cause I'm so so so dissapointed in this story.

hi, MTL-er here!

I love Mo Ling's novels! I've read/am reading all her system transmigration stories (currently 3), and i've completed this one! Out of the three novels, this one is my favourite because I love ming shu's character and her love interest's as well! I ship them both 'cause they're so cute together! As usual with mo ling's novels, it takes a while for the main couple to get together, but it's worth it---! I also like that in this novel, there is more focus on the interactions between the... more>> leads and their relationship, rather than the plot of the story. I had high expectations from everyone's reviews but what a let down. There's no logic in her actions, just going sideways because she can. One part "she used the plate as a fan" to fan herself at a banquet ???????? There's no challenge, no restrictions, just doing it for the sake of comedy. It's dragged out and plot holes are galore. Sigh.

This is probably one of my favourite novels of all entire, not only in the QT genre. I love the MC, Ming Shu, so f*cking much because she's so funny. Whenever she speaks she'll leave everyone speechless and it's fun seeing the other people's reactions. You'll never catch Ming Shu falling into any cliche troupes and everything she does/says makes perfect sense. She's so badass, she can even steal the original female lead from the male lead (but only if FL can cook well~)

I don't really understand why people say she's a boring character? Yes, there are very repetitive jokes like the obsessed with snacks part but I personally think it's cute and there is a reason behind it. I've read both of Mo Ling's other novels (which are amazing too) but honestly, I like Ming Shu the best. She has the brightest and funniest personality. If you read carefully, you'll start to notice that she's not as flat as a character as it seems. The author likes to subtly show that deep down she's very lonely like when:

Spoiler

I can't find the exact quote but she and the FL were having a picnic and Ming Shu told her something and smiled at her. For some reason, the FL found her smile strange and sad even though it was very bright and beautiful. Many years later the FL realized that on that day she should've hugged her. It was a really short quote so it's hard to find.

[collapse]

Each arc is not that cliche as people are saying. I've read A LOT of QT novels and other novels and a lot of plots are very unique. Even though it seems very normal at first, you'll begin to realize that's there's a deeper (and sometimes a more sinister) plot later on. Like a secret mu*der case, or a huge scheme behind the scenes. Romance is top-tier. Tbh, a lot of romance in QTs are pretty bad and horribly forced but I really like this one! She'll never admit it but they're SO CUTE TOGETHER. I really like the ML he's so arrogant but he'll still go get her food. He'll curse her in his mind but we all know he doesn't mean it lmao. He's in love but he'll claim that it's all for the mission.

This was a loooonng journey, especially with the English translations. Initially, I thought this novel was dropped by Webnovel since it went hiatus for how many months or years and I only recently saw that it was completed, and I just finished reading it. As we all know, there are so many world arcs in this story, and the romance was slow.

My rating was kinda biased because this was my very first QT novel read but still not a perfect star because the story is not perfect, but I can... more>> say I'm still satisfied with it. The only thing I'm not that satisfied with was the translation but it's still understandable.

Moving on to the story, I don't remember much of the story arcs because it's been so long since I picked up reading this again but I still got the gist of the general story as I read on. The FL was OP from the start because of her origin. As we know with the systems on QTs novels we've read and the time and space organizations so the ML came from them. As I remember, the FL's mission was to gain hatred points from the mission target which should be the fake protagonists that replaced the original protags while the ML's mission was to eradicate the anomalies in the worlds the org manages which is the fake protags, which we all know contradicts each other since Mingshu needs the fakes to be alive to be able to gain hatred points, sooo they are enemies from the very beginning. And along their journeys, their love blossoms. Idrk, but I believe it's a fast romance but slow burn at the same time since they don't really show their feelings to each other, more like one-sided from the ML part and the FL being a tsun.😆.

Tbh, I like their interactions and the FL being OP and her attitude and all despite it being frustrating sometimes. But the thing that really gets to me wasn't the main story but the story of Ming Shu and her background at the end of the story, since it's the most mysterious thing in this story. All I can really say was that this part really portrays the saying,

"The Devil is not born, but made."

It's tragic, which explains the slow character development of the FL and I'm also thankful that the MC's found each other.

That's all, I recommend this story if you don't mind the long chapters and the payment, lol. <<less

Foolish Mysteries
I love the way it doesn't have too much drama since she would just beat them up if they came to her. No matter how much of the villain tried to piss the MC off, she wouldn't fall for it. It was so much fun the way how she would make the atmosphere quite relaxed on every serious situation.

Also, I saw someone say about not liking the MC's attitude because she's treating the world as a fake. I mean, if you guys read it, the world's they go is really... more>> a world of novel, and technically speaking, it really is a 'fake' compared to the Main World's since it's a world created from a novel. The MC is from the Upper/Main Worlds. Besides, if you guys read the backstory of the MC, you would know why she always appeared to be unbothered and nonchalant about almost everything except food and the ML. She doesn't even bother about whether she would complete a mission, there's also a time where she ruined a world because of a hateful Fake MC and she doesn't give a sh*t. Anyways, in conclusion, her attitude of not caring doesn't apply only for the world's she travel to, it applies to almost anything and everything. <<less

I tried to read the novel because of the manhwa, but gosh it's such a disappointment.

1st of all the story didn't even say why she's friggin obsessed with food or why she's always hungry...

I already read a story about a returner guy and his love for food was reasonable, like he was eating monster and it was raw at first, no seasonings etc., he was eating that for a long time and he was trapped with no one.

Yet this story doesn't even say why FL loves food, ahe just keeps... more>> on eating whenever, and if she honestly doesn't want to get disturb, then she should go somewhere else or something... but nooooo she stay to places where she might get attacked (dumb bish)

3rd arc made my blood like ghorl just slap that thot, but she didn't start hitting her till the very last part

Jokes are repetitive too, always just because of her food obsession and her meals getting interrupted.

What a let down. <<less
