The main character, Shiina Kazuya is killed by a stranger while trying to protect his childhood friend’s younger sister. He was reborn as Cain von Silford, the third son of an Aristocrat, in a world of magic and swords.

Cain will grow up surrounded by Gods who don’t know self-restraint, the nobles of the Kingdom, and young women.

In order to avoid raising any flags, he tries to hide the incredible amount of stats and protections he received from the Gods. This is the royal road fantasy of a boy who is at times two-faced and at times clumsy.

Like most other readers, I've found the story to be reasonable at the start, amusing every once in a while and comical in other areas.... however, what lowers my opinion of this story is how much of a passive, weak-willed person the MC is (this is just my opinion, but often the MC reflects a lot of the author's personality!).... in all honesty, I think the title should've read "Chronicles of a super naive & easily guilt-tripped reincarnated person." I would also like to add that what does lower my... more>> opinion of this novel is the author's attempt to bring some sort of moral or ethical lesson to the story towards the later volumes (similar to "the man picked up by the gods", both start trying to make a moral point..."When in Rome, do as the Romans do, " not "When in Rome, do as the Mongols do.")

It's all fine to hide your abilities in order to not stand out, I get that, but in the case of this MC (like many other novels), he's super passive, always attempts to take a non-aggressive super-pacifist mentality.... which results in something that probably the author has not noticed yet (about themselves as well!), this MC is an easy mark; you could scam him, kill off his relatives etc... but he's likely to only going to go so far as hand you to the local authorities and ask that they be charged with "attempting to take a single apple from the trees outside my territory, oh and please downgrade that offence further because I'm cute ok?"

The LN/WM is a good read if you love super naive, super passive, weak-willed, easily guilt-tripped MC.... I'll keep reading hoping the author adds some real backbone to the MC, but I won't hold much hopes given the author's real personality slipping into the MC's... lol

UPDATE: when I read this novel and think about how the antagonists operate, or are written by the author, one comes to the conclusion that the marquis who is portrayed as the villain, is in fact, the hero of this story, and that Cain (our MC) plus the kingdom of Esfort (except the marquis & his faction) are actually the villains and the root of all evil (that aaron is in fact a good god!)... at least this seems to be how the author wishes to truly represent RL villains - perhaps the author actually idolises RL villains that cause mu*der etc etc... you could think of Cain going to the royal capital for the first time to be the start of when he can be portrayed as the story's main villain!

I should mention the translator is excellent, but the story itself becomes relative pointless as of v5... I actually gave up as of v5c24 due to the cliche borrowed from such animes as power rangers, TMNTs etc

26/06/2021 - a more recent review of this WN pointed out that my comment on the MC being an easy mark as being unfounded and (iho) completely wrong... to that person, in all of v1-6, there has been only *one* incident where he went ahead and killed one person and left several others with missing limbs... in *six volumes*, one person killed, several left with permanent amputation, the rest? mental trauma then getting handed to the local enforcement (defeating a particular dark guild located close to home)

There was a comment that basically denied the idea of the MC hiding his OP status by stating the display of a red dragon in his home is showing off his OP to everyone; yes, he's got a dragon on display at home, but how many times have you seen/read the MC deliberately bringing people from wherever to his home and boasting "yeah, I killed this dragon when I was xx years old"? instead, the MC generally gets outed by the less subtle of his acquaintances to people he was trying to be friendly towards... so does that count as him expressly telling everyone he's OP? <<less

This is yet another bullsh*t cliche story about a genius boy who gets his harem. The usual scenes of an adventurer trying to kill the 5 year old in the guild, being praised by the king, engaging with a princess, joining an academy, etc.

This is not a comedy or satire, there is zero tension, it is just some text to get relaxed.

Great. OP protag sure, but he's not excessively dense to the point of ridiculousness, like he's got a basic understanding of what's common sense. His naive and somewhat simple minded personality fits well considering he was still younger than your average isekai/reincarnation protag.

Also, the way he tries to hide his abilities so people won't expect yet uses them without hesitation when problems are thrust in his face in a somewhat immature way is kinda cute, like a bit tsun? Or maybe it's just me.

Sure, a lot of the story is... more>> highly unrealistic and there seems to be a slight lack of character development, but think of it as a feels good story like Smartphone, cpt murica and any tokatsu, since straightforward is what the story is focused on being and doesn't try to branch off too much into politics/intrigue and end up half assing everything like some other "slow life" works with OP protags. <<less

i'd rate it a 3.5 if I could but it's closer to a 3 then a 4.

Typical op isekai where the MC gets a harem, the writing is ok but its very on the nose obviously evil guy plans to do bad stuff gets stopped by op MC sorta deal.

The author keeps reusing the same cliches almost as if they don't really know how else to write a story

-MC gets mocked/ridiculed or told to go back because he's a kid -> proceeds to stomp monsters or they find out he's... more>> a noble -> employee or adventurer starts apologizing profusely because it's their fault warning a random kid to be careful or to not do a mission solo is them "looking down" on him

Along with the King always using the same joke of oh let me just give u my throne, which is funny the first time but starts getting obnoxious when it's done after virtually every arc.

I wouldn't mind the lack of proper character building, the isekai cliche of harem collecting cause MC saves them or the above cliches. But the MC is basically a massive pushover handiman, he can't make decisions on his own he'll always use the excuse of "i gotta go talk to my king about this" when it's regarding himself, despite being an actual demi-god, and the country he's part of is filled with some of the most useless incompetent nobles in any story. There's rampant corruption, there's a repeat offender who gets away with being an accomplice to mu*der and human trafficking twice, and literally no one in the story actually bothers to do anything if the criminal just didn't happen to have the misfortune of running across the MC.

It's not awful but it's extremely formulaic with a boring repeat of the same cliche where the only motivation to finish reading a volume is to see the c*cky obviously evil scum get his comeuppance. <<less

many clichés, but they are well used. It is a story that you can enjoy if you start reading without creating expectations of something deep and well elaborated

i had enough of this predictable story and it is time to drop this thing from my list. At first it was kinda interesting to read but then it became a predictable story and the pattern that the MC saved the day again became a repetitive cycle.

Typical OP JP harem fantasy. If anything stands out, it's how the king calls the protagonist to complain whenever the protagonist does anything. Usually, it's something like "Hey, you told me to do this thing and I did it." "What!? Why did you do it so perfectly!? What's wrong with you!?" The harem element is extremely weak, too. The author keeps throwing women at the main character but he doesn't seem interested in any of them even if he's engaged to them. Even if he wasn't engaged to them he'd... more>> do whatever they wanted anyway because he's a typical JP protagonist who can't say no.

As a story where everything revolves around the protagonist, it's weak because the protagonist himself is weak as a character. And yet, it's not egregiously bad either. As long as you don't mind the first sentence I typed, you'll probably be OK reading this to pass the time. <<less

A painful-to-read set of underwhelming cliches.

Also - the MTL'd description gives you the hint of what to expect.

To sum it up real nicely

this is by no means a good novel its a generic powerfantasy harem but in the end,

if u need somthing to waste your time go for it, its not so bad that you cant stand the characters

and the story is bland and predictable but all in all its a fun read

sure many reviews are accurate, but as I have read to v8c9, longer than many reviews I have seen, I can say it does begin getting better. Somewhat. Sure there is no tension as cain can fix any problem without effort, but there is at least a slowly building main plot with the big bad coming along which is promising to actually give cain some trouble. Overall though while this isnt a "deep" series, its not bad for something light. If you do want something with better character development and... more>> world building however there are better choices. <<less

i agree with even2 review except its frustrating the author while trying to put in light heart and comedy type elements, its written well enough with alot of elements mixed in and setups if u can see pass what most authors write like with these same senarios everywhere, its still enjoyable but readers probably would get frustrated with very little followups and important side characters and even with manga adapt and ln, not sure bout the ln, there can be frustration with many readers of the wn who would have... more>> hoped the author increased the overall MC s world timeline it doesnt seems the MC s story as his age stay a semi shota for several years, (not as bad as slowlife where the MC ages maybe once or twice since 5 plus years real time) from author, sadly most reviewers never read enough of the novel or seems to think there is some magical author out there with a never before written story that they expect evry author to write when reality is its either or hobby or they are trying to write to get a paycheck from licensing or manga (which money is neeeded to pay bills and eat) to which somehow poor/bad reviews are some kind of currency <<less

It’s not the worst thing on this site, but it isn’t particularly good. The plot is mostly mediocre with some very bad low points, and the characters are also mostly bland or unlikable. However, it could definitely be worse.

The work itself is a slice of life, but it keeps trying (and failing) to be about global politics, conspiracies, and a shounen hero story. Unfortunately, whenever the story tries to be serious, it is just going to employ another cycle of the MC doing some dumb thing to make some dumb... more>> villain commit su*cide by attacking him. Then the MC will whip out his opness and win while everyone praises him.

The slice of life bits are better, but they always seem to be some setup to another “Oh no! MC is breaking common sense again!” joke. But, the author uses that same punchline over and over, and it really doesn’t fit in some cases. So the characters the author uses to make the joke just become a little more unlikable each time. Additionally, the characters are all pretty shallow, and the more screentime they get the less I seem to like them.

If you are able to tune out and enjoy a poorly written, op MC, shallow harem, slice of life/adventure, then this one probably isn’t the worst you could pick. The translation quality is good, and there is a good bit translated and even more raws ready to be. <<less

Generic isekai harem tr*sh. A diluted soap opera with zero memorable characters.

Anyway, it's still fun to read. There's at least some action and drama every few chapters unlike most of these WNs that just devolve into a slice of life with awful pacing/cooking novel.

This is your usual power fantasy where the protag can do anything, there is no interesting plot. The MC needs to kill an evil god, but he shows no sign of appearing until c150 and even then the MC is so OP. Refer to other isekai harem novels.
