Kind of generic but it's well done. The main character is likable and decently intelligent. It doesn't seem to serious but I think that's fine.

I want to be totally clear with a few things before I start my review for this series.

One, it does not have reliable translation updates.

Two, it’s nothing special. However, this is what makes this series a nice read.

Have you read any isekai before? Have you always though about how you’d like to see a series with a stereotypical protagonist? Have you always wanted to read a run of the mill isekai? No? Then this series is not for you. If you answered yes to any of these questions, then this... more>> short and sweet series is just for you. It has its somewhat funny moments, it’s somewhat romantic moments, and it’s somewhat interesting moments.

Its a somewhat series for a somewhat world. It’s short and fun. If you have an hour or so to read a series, give this one a shot. It’s worth it for what it is. <<less

There are only 4 chapter so far, but everything seems solid. It’s a standard potionmaker isekai, if with some clichés already presented, but I think that there’s potential for an interesting story if it branches off from the status quo somehow. The writing and translation all seem very good.

First: you need to know what Doraemon is

Doraemon is a story about a magical robot who isekai'd to the past, bringing knowledge and tools of the future to help his master. The tools, being magical that they are, are capable of marvelous feats but as they say: "Guns don't kill people, people kill people" even if the tools are awesome if the user is sh*t the result will still be subpar

Doraemon revolves around the titular Doraemon providing his inept master with tools which invariably produce various misfortunes due to misuse,... more>> despite Doraemon's clear and concise explanations of how to use it

So did you notice something?

Despite having cheat skills, Doraemon weaves in conflict. It's not grand or dangerous, just a small but interesting conflict: misuse. It provides cartoon violence and slapstick comedy for the audience

Now let's get back to this novel.

In this novel, each episode has a specific pattern:

  1. Protagonist meets a customer
  2. Protagonist listens to their complaints
  3. Protagonist gets a flash of inspiration
  4. Protagonist heads home and concocts a solution to said problem
  5. Customer comes back happy
Astute observers may notice something is missing: "What about the ingredients?". Good question comrade and the answer is "protagonist always has a stash of whatever he needs with no explanation of what they are and how he came to stock them"

As an alchemist pharmacist, protagonist needs all sorts of ingredients, especially because he keeps coming up with new elixirs. Yet he never had to procure them. The customers are always happy, there's no interesting conflict in this story. Made even worse by the fact that the protagonist doesn't even have to think. He didn't even have to spend brain power because his skills are:

  1. He knows literally all possible recipes in the world, even ones nobody has discovered yet
  2. He has 100% success rate in everything he does
The second one is no joke: the protagonist clearly stated that only he can produce his elixir the way he does, others will fail even if mimicking his recipe. It'd be one thing if he follows some complex procedure, but he doesn't: he concocts his elixirs by shaking them in a bottle like a bartender mixing your c*cktail. He always finishes his tasks within the day. No experimentation, no research, just "go home and make it"

This novel is dull. It really is. It's not even therapeutic. The only saving grace is the fact that this novel would be great for kids, if you remove the obvious harem/ecchi parts <<less

I don't think I've ever gagged so much in my life. I'm still dry heaving. I was hoping it would get better as I read, but it got worse and worse.

This would be totally shounen, if not for the s*xual innuendos. If not for that, this would almost be a perfect bed time story for toddlers (though I've never had one of them make me gag). It's worse than anything Disney or Nickelodeon. I don't even think this one makes elementary school level, maybe pre-school (like I said, if you... more>> take out the s*xual innuendos).

Well, this thing has a high rating, so apparently, people are into that. Or, it could be friends and family with multiple accts boosting it.

Well, at least the illustration and translating are good. I would raise it to a 2 for that reason alone, but the story is just way too bad. It's a nice story idea though - one I've been looking for, just not this one. Needless to say, Dumped. <<less

Another cut and paste isekai that's trying to bandwagon on the cute, fluffy, slice-of-life + wish-fulfillment genre. There's no real plot, conflict, or anything of significance. Read it if you're into it. Otherwise, I recommend avoiding this series as it's chopped full of overused tropes and characters you've seen before. See the list below for more details. For me, it's 2 stars, but I'll give it a 3 since I like the illustrator.

Spoiler
    • Little to no explanation on the reasons behind the protagonist's transmigration : the author glosses over this in 3 sentences (there's no death, it just happens)
    • Another adult Japanese protagonist with an extremely happy-go-lucky or childish mindset
    • Has the almighty, absolute, all-seeing eye of.... identification/appraisal
    • Ability to make medicine out of thin air (it's in the title)
    • Celebrated and praised as a "hero" (it feels more like undeserved, cultish worship)
    • Beta male syndrome + loli harem (a recipe for disaster : a spineless protagonist and 1-dimensional female characters; it doesn't help how the girls call the guy "Master")

I have an high level of tolerance to light stories with a low level of IQ but this time I dropped. Ok is my fault, in the title the author writes slow life but this is slowest possible life. The author repeat exactly the same story every chapter with only cosmetic changes, with no evolution, in most cases you could arbitrarily change the order of the chapter.

I suppose that is a format very useful for certain kind of anime, targeted to young people, in which every episode is a... more>> subtle variation of the same story <<less

The MC basically makes potions the entire time based on different situations to help himself and the others around him.

The potion-making for different situations is well thought out, but other than that the story gets very bland for me. This may be subjective though, as I’m someone who likes a little bit more of action. If you like laid back stories & slice of life genres, then this is definitely for you.

The lack of character development is also what puts me off from continuing the rest of the volumes available.... more>> The supporting characters have not much backstory development, and that’s pretty much the same for the MC and FLs. In fact, the only actual development for one of the FLs is at the last chapter of this volume.

The MC is also transported to a new world, but the story doesn’t incorporate on how he slowly adapts. He opened a medicinal shop, but the author doesn’t talk about the operational aspects at all. There were many opportunistic plots that could have been elaborated to make it more interesting, but were glazed over by the author instead.

Overall, I’m not impressed with the book and will not be picking up any other book in this series to continue. <<less
