To others, Zhou was a “big brother,” but in reality, he acted more like a doting father.
When Shen Xi was little, he would follow Zhou around like a shadow, waiting for him to wipe away his tears and hold him patiently in his arms. As he got older, he’d frequently cut class just to wait for Zhou at his classroom door only to be dragged home by his ear for a scolding.
There was an unspoken rule between them: Zhou Boyu would always be good to him.
So, the moment Shen Xi graduated from high school, he crawled into Zhou Boyu’s bed. He took advantage of the fact that Zhou was drunk and did something reckless. Soon after, they became a couple.
Shen Xi didn’t see anything wrong with this. They were the closest people in each other’s lives; it was only natural for them to be together. However, the relationship wasn’t at all what he had imagined. With painful clarity, Shen Xi realized that while Zhou Boyu was kind to him, it didn’t mean he loved him.
These were two very different things.
After more than a year of mutual torment, Shen Xi finally decided to let go. He sent a break-up text and buried his face under his covers, sobbing through the entire night.
To his shock, a month later, his father called him home and dropped a bombshell: he was to enter into a business marriage with Zhou Boyu.
Wait… so what was their secret relationship this whole time?
More importantly, they had already broken up! Can you really get married after a breakup?
Shen Xi looked desperately at Zhou Boyu, who was sitting calmly across from them on the sofa, hoping that the man would help him find a way out, just as he had always done in the past. But Zhou, dressed in a sharp suit and sitting as stiffly as if he were in an international board meeting, didn’t even glance at him. Instead, he simply poured a cup of tea and handed it over.
“Dad, I’ll do whatever you say.”
… They weren’t even married yet, and he was already acting like he owned the place.
