“Compared to our time, the current generation just aren’t as reliable” they said, “Still, isn’t he the son of the Hero?” How annoying.

It’s been over ten years since the battle between mankind and the demons ended. The children of the heroes who saved the world are all grown up.

One of them, Earth, was a talented man, and everyone expected him to succeed his father as a warrior and defend his country, but Earth was always wary of his father’s title.

One day, Earth is shocked to find his father’s sword, which was used to overthrow the Demon King, sealed in his family’s mansion.

Because trapped within was the ghost of the Great Demon King who was unable to pass on and continued to roam the world.

For some reason, only he could see the spirit of the Demon King, and the Demon King possessed him through the sword.

Every day, forced to coexist with the spirit of the Demon King, they live a strange shared life, when the Demon King whispers to Earth on a whim.

“I have a grudge against your father. If you want to get back at your father and the world, I’ll train you. I’m free.”

Earth receives special personal guidance from the Demon King just to get back at his parents and the world.

Then, in the coming days. The hero’s parents, the heroes of the past, the first love, the princess childhood friend, the geniuses of the era, and the world will tremble.

i feel like the beginning is very misleading of what the actual tone of the story is gonna be.

the tone does not match what was presented and for that I have to lower it alot.

at first it's interesring how I expect he will change and yes he changed the power, the attack type he use but the personality still the same.

self-centered scum? Might be fit

naive? No, there is not cuteness at all

... more>> worse than beta mc? Yes, maybe

all in all he want all even air understand him but he himself never try to understand other, he only understand what other tell him and that's it! Not trying to understand what is actually other want, desire or real image deep inside.

so even self centered scum still over the top at least this kind of people not asking other acknowledgment or understanding. <<less

honestly, this was good at the first arc. A refreshing story where demon king train him to become stronger, to prove to everyone that MC actually can be strong.

then its goes downhill. Demon king is gym freak? Why? Not only that, demon king is very kind, full of philosophy, generous etc etc. Where is the guy that massacre innocent. What the point of demon king then? Why not put some random macho kind dude

this novel is not merely shounen, it actually super duper ultra mega shounen

Hooo boy this is lowkey good atleast as far as ch 43 I dont know if it gets better or worse but the emotional impact on the last few chapters was insane also great fights and the character development for the MC is really good. Also it looks like all of the main cast is about to undergo some major development after the beautiful scene in chapter 42. Truly made me feel for the MC. Also f*ck the princesses like for real I hate her ALOT.

Bruh, I love this novel but the autor naming sense is absolute tr*sh hauehsuahshsuheusua I mean, the demon lord is named trey'nar (trainer?) The protagonist is named Earth, Eirth in the manga (which I'm pretty sure comes from eiro or something in Jp which means hero) the childhood friend is named phianse (fiancée?) The father and former hero is named Hiro (hero duh) the mom is named Mamu..... man it really messes up with my immersion every single time I'm really mad, especially because I really like the... more>> plot in this. <<less

Just finished reading the latest raw chapter 512 using google translate. After reading the manga I'm so interested with the continuation, thankfully the fan translation is up to about 220+ chapter. While I rate it 5/5 in manga, I agree the story when about downhill a bit, but still an interesting chapter about until about 220+ chapter, but after reading the 6th chapter with time travel arc the story starting to become very interesting again, which is focused toward the past war, the sixth demon general, and Earth's siblings.

The romance is quite good but the MC is dense and there is many heroine who like the MC, but what make me feel the time travel arc is so satisfying is the past war which got deepened and introduce a lot of demon general (also a bit about aka's past), many plot twist about the war because MC time travel, also finally MC got a new family which actually is the best thing happening and a refreshing thing other than acquiring a new harem member. The new family is very trusted by MC and know MC secret, which is a good thing because the harem heroines don't.

[collapse]

The google translate is actually bearable for me because the languange used in this story is not hard and complex word compared to some novel. <<less

Alright... People said that this better than Boruto. And I thought so too at first. But after reading this far in the story... Nah... It's getting meh. I mean the commonsense of the story is warped. Like for example a war was taking place yet there's no casualty so far. And things such as disaster level spell hit the town yet no casualty.

What????

I'm not saying there's should be casualties on the story. But the author should reflect a little more with logic and commonsense.

No wonder the manga was axed. it's... more>> getting dull.

And also I agreed with others... Translation is so bad milking the patrons with a low quality output. MTL the edit... Wenk. There are Japanese words that have a proper phrasing on english.

They can translate that way... But they should just take money on patrons. It doesn't do justice for for them. As well as the story actually. <<less

A lot of people like power fantasies, a lot more people like power fantasies that show the efforts and struggles of the main character. I struggle to categorize this novel as a power fantasy because rather than such it's like reading a Rocky film or like reading Shounen battle manga with all the training and tournament arcs (seriously it's a main focus). Don't let the Harem tag lure you in though, if you're looking for harem fluff, you'll be severely disappointed.

The story is all about a guy who's had enough... more>> of playing second fiddle (despite being one of the elite) to his peers and gets a ghost demon lord as his personal coach. Sound familiar? The premise has been done time and again but the character conflicts make up for it.

Ambition is the main theme of this novel, why you want be the strongest and how that ambition can ruin the relationships you have. It's all about being placed on a label and a certain expectation and wanting to be free from that. Finding your own path and tossing everything behind to pursue your own true self is the goal of this series. We've all had that fantasy before and if you're into that you'll find it here.

Despite reading this long and trust me it gets a lot longer, there was no emotional payoff. Has Earth learned from his mistakes? No. Has Earth understood the consequences of his actions? Yes, but he doesn't care and he even
Spoiler

outright tells the person he loves that he won't come back home until he becomes the strongest (for some reason)

. Earth just runs and runs away despite fighting head-on being his motto. A real man faces his problems, a little man runs away.

There are other themes present in the story, racism, parental conflict, weight of expectation and other stuff but it's mostly just about training, fighting and then moving on to the next city, maybe having a girl fall for you and then moving on. Rinse, repeat.

I can see why the LN was cancelled. If you want Shounen battles, go read Bleach, Naruto and what have you. They're the same thing but with better writing (except maybe the endings) but you'll get better fights and better villains there. <<less

I appreciate the MC isn't all powerful and must work his way through the moral and physical problems presented. The story line of figuring what the MC wants and what he is through the work and experiences is very enjoyable. The subplot of pursuit by others expressing regret and love shows some of the selfishness of humanity. I like it so far

A genuinely good work. It's a level of quality of storytelling that I'd expect from a book. I felt genuinely touched at points and the characters are compelling. The translation is of course MTL but surprisingly I didn't mind it. The translator edits it well enough that I don't get distracted by mistakes. It's absolutely worth a read.

Does every novel need to be original to be enjoyable to read? This novel is cliche, predictable, and has some dense MC moments, but I still enjoyed reading it.

Even with the cliched setting, it is the characters that drives this story to be successful. The development of MC from a spoiled, naive, and h**ny teenager to learning about the world and having relationship with demons is great. We are able to relate to him as he wants to show the world who he is instead of being labeled as the... more>> 'son of the hero.' This novel really makes you feel for Earth AS WELL as the side characters. Side characters have their own passions and sometimes they make mistakes and foolish decisions, but hey, that's part of life.

This novel doesn't create tropes and misunderstandings to push the plot forward, instead its constructs these tropes to make fun of them (aka names of the characters and certain interactions) and then lets the MC and characters push the plot forward.

Hopefully it stays this way with MC and Demon King traveling the world and meeting interesting people/demons but I'm afraid that the female leads/possible harem is going to drag this novel down. There hasn't been much of that to this point, however, there are a few annoying female leads and it has been somewhat foreshadowed. This novel is mostly cliched so I'm expecting it go down that route, but I truly hope the author decides not to.

EDIT (ch 110) : I'm kinda disappointed by the current arc as the author created a setting where MC and demon king would adventure off into the world and then what immediately happens afterward? He gets kidnapped and forced into joining a tournament. More annoying and obsessed girl characters keep popping up. I hope that the next arc picks up as this one has been horrible. <<less

This is an amazing coming of age story. The demon lord is an incredible mentor (I suspect he is a transmigrator). The boy learns a lot and the story feels quite relatable

Okay! I really love the immediate setting the story starts off with.

TL:DR: Good story to read, see if you like it. Characters aren't too fleshed out as of yet, but they probably will be, and narrative (like, what happens in the book) is quite unexpected for me, which was cool.

Story: Son of a bi- Hero isn't as strong as his father or mother (the saintess). Pushed down by society, the MC struggles to be acknowledged by the world until he meets the Demon King that his father and his comrades... more>> killed. He works with the Demon King to become the best.

Pacing + Story: The storyline is very nice. That's subjective from me, so read it at your own pace or whatever. It flows very well and doesn't feel rushed at all. As the story progresses, there are chapters from another's point of view, which is very helpful for providing context, alongside a different perspective from our MC.

Romance: The MC's denseness doesn't affect his relationship with the current three women, as all three are very proactive in chasing him, so if you're here for the romance, proceed! An issue is just that... it's gonna take a while for the romance, especially at Sads' translation rate (I'm just spoiled)

Translation: I know further down there's a comment that hates on Sads TL and has a lot of likes, implying that he's correct, but really, it's fine. I'm able to fully understand the episode, as well as get the jokes, and Sads TL makes sure to explain the joke. As I'm not able to understand Japanese, I'm judging blind, but the story makes sense, so it's a yes from me!

World and Conflict: The setting is understandable. If in a swimming pool, it'd be the border between the shallow and deep end where the tall people can touch the floor, but the short ones can hit their tiptoes while keeping part of their face above the water. As we aren't that far into the novel, there isn't too much about the world explained. As the story progresses, the MC is forced to understand parts of the world he never knew about, through his master. Parts of the conflict of the story is pretty cliche, but the author spins it into a relatively good scene. An issue I have is the conflict. It feels fantastical and forced, but hey, f*ck it.

Characters: They feel flat. There's not much I can say about this. They're driven by their goals and ONLY their goals. There isn't much about them afterward. The side characters and deuteragonists (Semi-main characters) neglect their responsibilities for said goals, which is very concerning, especially in a realistic sense.

If you've actually gone this far down, and like what I've written, you might want to check out my recommendations list. There you can suggest novels for me to read because I'm running out of things for me to run away from society from. <<less

Interesting plot
MC isn't necessarily weak, more of, weak compared to his classmates. They just put heavy expectations on him.
His academic performance was actually better than his father's (AKA the Hero) academic performance during his school years.

It's not much of [I was weak then I got cheat skill] or [I got kicked out because I have useless skill, but I discover it is useful] more of him discovering his true potential after he decided to take a new path in training because of Treynar.

It really got me excited at... more>> the start of the fights. It is also nice the MC isn't as dense or edgy as the others.

The power-scaling is not that bad, there seem to be a number of people who can beat MC.

The fights though can be quite creative, but the pacing is a bit slow.
Too much detail is put into describing each and every move, so the action is a bit meh.
It makes the fights a bit boring when you describe every single thing.

The translations make trying to understand and read the story a bit hard since the translator just primarily uses a machine translator.
So the conversations feel a bit unnatural.

And the naming tf, I don't know if the naming is some sort of satire, but they have a habit of putting "magical" on anything like in sci-fi movies where they put "space" to make them seem better.
I don't really mind how they name the characters, but the attacks goddamnit. <<less

It's an interesting story but I think that the MC is way too pe*verted. I've read some where it's worse but most of the arcs revolve around some type of love interest. The idea of the heros' son learning from the demon king is great!

Unusual. Low on fights. Only three or so as far as i've read. But lots of character development and humor. Heart warming as LN frequently are.

I see why others say MC is relatable. Kinda shed some tiers.

i like the story, up to what I have read the author has been fairly concise and the length of the plot isn’t overdrawn. I’ve read a lot of ln’s that drag the plot a lot and well this hasn’t felt like the story is rushed with weird timeskips as of right now. Can’t wait to read more chaps.

thanks TL

There are things in the story which could be annoying for some, like the naming sense of the author but overall, it's interesting (at least where I'm). I read using a JP dictionary & machine translation & it's fine so far. If you want to see a protagonist who ends up having a falling out with everyone on the "good side", then maybe you'll like the story.

Poor Aka-san.. I feel realy bad for him. F***ing humans. (TT_TT)

I really enjoyed the beginning, the MC interacting with the demon lord is really funny and see how this develops is sweet, but after the MC go explore the world the novel go down to the toilet, the interaction between characters becomes awful to read, and the amount of inconsistency in power is insane, sometimes the MC can create a fckng tornado and sometimes can't catch a rabbit, so yeah, its a shame but this novel isn't good.
