Hmmm. This is definitely a unique story. The MC is quite atypical for this genre, instead of being either a completely average person or a superhuman who has everything go their way, she's just a kid who's been treated like a s*ave by her wankstain parents her entire life and died after years of abuse and starvation. Which makes for one hell of a prologue as we see her finally snap and kill both of those shitheels before she dies.

Her Gluttony skill isn't really fleshed out properly at this point... more>> in the story, there's still a lot of vagueness about what it can and can't do. We know it absorbs lifeforce and gets stronger the hungrier the MC is. Also, it has given her monster level physical stats too? But as a side effect her body's fuel economy is really bad and she goes into, uh, like a feeding frenzy when living creatures are near her when in a famished state, I think.

Anyway, back to the MC's character. I personally think this is the highlight of this series so far, an MC with a personality like this is not something you come across every day. This girl has received no affection, education (moral or otherwise) or even been allowed to leave her parents cesspool of a home. The only thing she did learn is that her living situation was absolute dogshit. So where does that leave her now? A complete distrust of others, no pesky ethics getting in the way of her killing and eating anything in her path, a hunger that will never be sated and a vow to let nobody tie her down ever again. You know what that sounds like to me? An excellent monster. We have a monster for an MC everyone and it is enjoyable.

Want an example? A kid walked up to her and was acting like a twat, so she kicked him away in what she thought was a 'light' way. Needless to say, the kid was nearly dead. And when someone came up to our girl and called her out about it? She responds with 'its just dying, why're you fussing?'. Oh lawdy I got chills.

Still, I feel the pace is a bit fast. Three seemingly major events happened back to back at one point with practically no down time in-between (eating the red dragon, meeting lust and encountering the dead dragon) which left me sorta bewildered and there isn't much detailed description so far other than the prologue. I've mentioned this in other reviews but knowing where to take time in writing makes or breaks a novel, too much time spent on trivial matters will sap the readers will to continue and piling big moment after big moment will leave the events with no impact at all or make the emotional beats feel cheap.

The scuffed pacing so far keeps this from being above average for me. But then again the novels only started this month so for all I know the problems I pointed out could be gone in a year.

Well, to sum it up I'd solidly recommend giving this novel some of your time. alsotheMCremindsmeofSixfromlittlenightmares Byeee~ <<less

Despite the 2 star rating, it probably deserves something slightly more average but its just hard to read and not just because the TL. Overall I'm going to keep up with the story and change my review if it gets better and I do recommend giving the first few chapters a shot. But its hard to say this is by any means 'good', just 'unique'.

While the MC's backstory was tragic, it makes her later actions and feelings seem odd. Its the type tragic where someone grew up in a terrible... more>> environment, but afterwards they act as if they were a normal person temporarily in that environment rather than someone raised in it.

In addition, the writing is just extremely repetitive, going over the same aspects of her 'hunger' over and over again. It would be fine to have it as a constant reminder in the background driving her and her actions forward, but we're talking paragraphs on paragraphs describing things we've read 10 times before. And while the writer is telling us how hungry she is, there's some semblance of a plot that's happening in the background. <<less
