In an empire that is at war with all of its neighbors, our protagonist is inevitably been drafted into the army for being “nothing noteworthy” and become a new recruit. However, what awaits him is not the battlefield, but an experimental facility! Following the lead of the empire’s scientist, he undergoes genetic enhancement and change him into a monster.

The neighboring countries don’t care about the empire’s circumstances and our protagonist was never put into combat and was put to sleep.

200 years passed, and our protagonist wakes up from his cryogenic sleep to find that he has no more homeland to return to and thus begin his survival in the vast forest that was once the empire, with his monster body.

This is the story a very ordinary man, who becomes a high spec monster and survives.

After chapter 23 (and frankly more before it) I give up. The MC is just scum and if the author thinks it's cool to write this style of stuff he's scum too.

Another comment mentioned that the MC is a pe*vert, which is his only personality trait. The MC is only not the worst living person in this story because the author had the pressence of mind to add a loser more heinous. That doesn't make the author or the MC less scummy.

This is a decent idea, but it's writen by... more>> a POS. <<less

Huh, so I am the first reviewer here. Well, here goes nothing.

Update on Dec 27th 2023: I still occasionally check on both the JP manga and the MTL'ed novel (I kinda get attached to this novel because I like the premise of being a monster in the wild), but both of them seem to have been dropped. You probably shouldn't waste your time here.

  • It's MTL, with little to no editing. Hardly readable even if you have the tolerance for it and are the type to skip over the details. You can sort of grasp the plot, but no more than that. The translation site itself is also a pain. There's no "Next" button within each chapter, so I have to keep another tab to access the table of contents.
  • So anyway, onto the story. The MC lives in a hybrid world, with elves and monsters with magic, but also humans with advanced technology like anti-air cannons. He signed up for a super-human-weapon project, and was put into sleep before they experimented on him. 200 years later, he woke up alone in the now-abandoned facility, finding himself to be the only surviving and successful specimen: a monster with immense strength. He can't understand human language, so it creates some small hilarious misunderstandings when he interacts with humans.
  • Aside from his physique which currently puts him at the top of the food chain, his personality is kinda average. He focuses on exploring around to grasp the situation while rescuing whoever he finds. If he sees bad people, he gets rid of them. He is also a huge pe*vert that enjoys peeking at girls from afar, even though after the transformation he has lost his "partner". I wonder if he will get it back.
  • The story doesn't shy away from making ecchi comments or moments (sometimes even borderline hentai). For example when the MC grabs a female warrior, she strips off her top to get away from him. There's also a bit of gore, which should pose no problem unless you are extremely squeamish against it.
  • The manga illustrates those things clearly, whose art is acceptable and is also worth checking out. The translation is still bad but at least there are pictures so it's easier to grasp the situation. But it only has like 6 chapters, and the JP raw seems to have been axed. Tough luck.
  • Overall, this story is totally a 2/5. Pretty average at the moment. I would have said this is worth reading if you have nothing else to do with your free time, but the MTL does get in the way of that. Besides, there are only 30 chapters by now, so I think it's better to wait and hope it will turn out more interesting.

Story is quite good, mystery parts are mysterious, growth and development are hard-won. Surprising amount of the protagonist perving over girls, but he literally does not have his bits after being transformed so it feels less bad than those things usually do. That being said, it's not like anyone in the world is protected from horrible things happening to them, so when it goes back to the pervy slapstick after something horrifying, there's a bit of a dissonance there.
