The first time they met they had battled fiercely, just for a mere bunch of herbs. She needed it to save people, and he wanted to use it to save his own life.

“Let go of it, or you will die.” The man’s violet eyes were cold and sinister as he said in a low voice.

She held on tightly to the base of the herb and pulled its roots right out of the ground, before she turned her eyes back with a crafty smile. “It’s mine now. Snatch it from me if you can.”

When they met several years later they were no longer on opposing sides in hostility. In order to repay the debt for having stolen the herb back then, she went on to miraculously cure his body’s condition, relieving him of the inhumane torment that wrecked at his body day and night. He was amazed by the godly skills in Medicine she possessed and his heart went on to fall irrecoverably head over heels in love.

I'm honestly surprised I even managed to read up until chapter 65.

I guess it's not a horrible story? There's a lot of world building and it is a bit less brutal compared to other stories in this genre. There's some parts I can praise, but for the most part, I just can't enjoy this story.

First, the pros.

The heroine isn't totally merciless and has good heart. In fact, she subdues two sisters who used to dislike her but now look up to her. I find that pretty nice in comparison to... more>> other stories. Um... I guess that's it.

Cons:

The story is too effing long and there is so much pointless BS in it. I'm sorry, I was under the impression that Qing Yu was supposed to be the heroine of this story right? Shouldn't the story mostly focus on her? So why is it that she does pretty much NOTHING up until chapter 65 (outta 333 chapters) and the focus ends up on her "number one beauty older sister", the Prime Minister's residence's daughter, the other kingdoms's princess, blah blah blah. I don't care about any of these characters??? None of them are particularly interesting to me, they're all super one dimensional and just flat. The only mildly interesting one is probably the Ninth Princess from whatever kingdom she's from that's close to Qing Ye Li. That's about it.

The cast of characters is too huge in this story too. Their names are all very similar. I can't keep heads or tails of who is who, and this is coming from someone who's read a lot of Cnovels and speaks/reads/writes the language so you'd think it wouldn't be this hard to differentiate. But everyone is the exact same - they males are either flirtatious, stone faced, or bland. The females are all either outstanding! cute! adorable! all doted upon by their brothers and males in their families! Good lord it's like every character was a carbon copy of another character and every family dynamic is the same as another. I've never read the words doting and indulgence and spoiled so much over and over again in one story.

The whole huge cast of characters has either confused the translator or the original author as well, because I cannot tell you HOW many times I saw "Qing Yu" used when it should have been "Qing Bei" and how many times Yan Luo Ning (?) or whatever her name is was used in place of Yu Xiao Ning (?) or whatever her name is. At one point the two were clearly talking but the name was just Yan Luo Ning so it just looked like Yan Luo Ning was talking to herself. Cannot tell you how many times that happened. Can't tell if it's the translators and editors who didn't catch it, or if it was the original author who just forgot her character's names and messed them all up too. Otherwise, the translations are good.

Also, perhaps it's because I'm reading on my phone, but each chapter just feels so.......... so............ long. It just DRAAAAAGS out. I hate it. Sometimes, I wish chapters were longer for web novels because I want more content per chapter. Other times, chapters are too long, nothing happens, and I could skip 10 chapters and still be fine because literally nothing happened.

This story is the latter. The chapters are too long in my opinion and little to nothing happens the entire time. It took like 10 chapters just for Qing Ye Li and Qing Yu to finally meet up and realize gasp! They're both:

Spoiler

transmigrated from the other world and yes, those coincidental feelings that someone familiar was around was in fact, true. but let's just completely ignore those feelings - which might I add is so s*upid because Qing Ye Li was desperately searching for her but didn't bother to try and investigate this "familiar feeling" whenever he was in close contact with Qing Yu???? What is this s*upidity??? What is logic??? Oh right this author has none. She's too busy writing 28548973824391084901 words about literally everybody else except for the heroine. Wait who is the heroine again? I guess it must not be Qing Yu because why else would we talk about literally 4785485622 other people who do crap that has little to no relation to Qing Yu???? right-o.

[collapse]

What's worse is that half the chapters won't even talk or mention Qing Yu. Who is the heroine of this story again? Can someone tell me?

Ugh I don't know. I got to chapter 65 and I still have literally 0 idea of what's going on and what exactly is supposed to be going on. Like what's the point of the story? I feel like most stories are supposed to have some overarching plot, but at chapter 65, I'm not seeing it. Or maybe I did see it. I don't actually remember. I just read this last night but I've already pretty much forgotten everything that happened in it, because that's just how forgettable it is.

Anyways, dropped, not interested in bothering with this crap any more. Maybe I'll pick it back up when I'm having trouble sleeping and I need something boring to help put me to sleep. <<less

I hate the logic of chinese novels sometimes. The main logic that makes me question the MC so called high intelligence and ability is the fact that, if they are so powerful, why do they maintain their original disgues/identity and stay in such a shitty household, pretending to lower their head while playing tricks with the scum family in the background? If you are so capable and powerful, possessing super assassin skills and amazing god like medical/alchemist ability, then why are you still hiding yourself as such an inconspicuous person??... more>> How do you not feel tired pretending to be weak and playing with annoying scum while knowing you (theoretically) have the upper hand (refer to aforementioned abilities) ? I don't know about you, but I'm damn tired of these so called powerful MC not be able to deal with some low level characters. Just reveal that you're not actually his daughter, take your brother and move to another country, another realm, or another world or whatever. I don't care, as long as you gtfo out that house and move on. <<less

The story is pretty generic and follows the usual tropes and cliches that come with these types of stories along with questionable narrative presentation.

There is almost no flow as the story jumps around and it becomes difficult to piece together the information the author is trying to convey. All of this on top of sub par translations made for one confusing story.

Unless you're like me, and looking for a quick read to kill time then I would probably look else where for a more enjoyable read that you expect to... more>> commit to. This is not it. <<less

This is like watching a soap opera. It's full of holes and has a lot of ridiculous tropes that seem straight up copied from other books, not to mention that the author seems to forget a lot of the details and plot lines are left to dangle.... but somehow it's entertaining anyway. I don't know if the translator or the author is making errors, but the names frequently get mixed up, which can be confusing.

It's a little disappointing that Qing Yu seems to become weaker as the story progresses. Previously... more>> she was a ridiculously strong character, but as they keep adding even more strong people, and more outlandish events occur... her power can't keep up, so her confidence seems misplaced and even laughable.

It definitely feels like the author didn't have a clear idea of where the story would go, and is just making it up as they go along, sometimes deviating wildly from the original plot. Many, many characters have simply vanished, and potentially interesting threads just fizzled as a result.

Spoiler

The story of her mother as told by Yan Su ("father" of the twins") doesn't at all mesh with the later story of Qing Lan Fei as we find later. The twins were killed/rebirthed/delayed in age before they were even born? It is "only natural" that the twins are outstanding due to their parents, but... if Qing Yu hadn't taken over the original daughter, it sounds like she would have been pretty disappointing. She was apparently a frail coward, and Qing Bei only escaped being crippled for life because the new Qing Yu was such a skilled healer. When they first meet the ML, it is mentioned that he inherited his fire/ice condition and curse from his mother when she was pregnant... but then it becomes something that was laid on him around 100 years earlier (he's 200ish), and never explained how. I think the original intent was for the leader of the temple to be in love with him, but then the story altered so that she was actually in love with MC's father, which is why she destroyed him and his wife, but wait, she was being controlled by someone else all that time... see what I mean about being a soap opera? I also can't help but wonder if the sect that they joined is freaking out that two of their most promising students just completely vanished - that part seems to have been forgotten, so who knows if we'll ever find out. Every time we are introduced to someone/thing with unparalleled power, another person/thing shows up that is even more tyrannically powerful. I think the author really just couldn't figure out how to wrap things up and just kept adding more and more...

I feel that this will have nice plot, the opening a little bit messy and unclear for me. The story presentation also a little bit messy, one momeny its talking about A, and the next suddenly talking about C. I know there are novels did that too, but this novel don't give clear distinction between two. But the story plot is a good one so far, for characters development is still too early to say...

This book is okay. A lot of characters transmigrated from the MCs original world and she just so happens to find all of them and they're her best friends. I can deal with that, but now it feels like a serious harem is going on. The MC cant make up her mind on whether she has a high or low EQ and is leading five different guys on at once. She "doesn't realize that they like her" or she "doesn't think they're serious" and the poor boys keep chasing her.... more>> Its messed up. One of them said hed die for her and she thought he meant as her brother! Just stop already! Its not that hard to pick one guy and tell everyone else you look at them as friends and brothers. <<less

The story is full of the usual cliche chinese novel tropes: superpowered main character and 2 male leads that everyone panders to but is cold to everyone except the main character

The main character is the typical Mary Sue - doesn't do all that much but somehow gets what she wants because she has been "transmigrated" to a different body when she was at the peak of her cultivation. Fair enough, she knows things that can help her greatly improved whatever cultivation her body now has. However, that doesn't excuse the... more>> fact that somehow, she gets away with doing certain things while her body's cultivation is lower than the people she go against and somehow win.

The presentation of the novel is lackluster and, again, follows the general chinese novel tropes. Paragraphs full of descriptions of how the characters are highly bewitching etc which, in my opinion, doesn't give the character depth and they only seem superficial and shallow. There is no character progression, neither with the main character or male leads.

I tried giving it a chance to see if the flaws of the novel would be fixed by the author but so far there's no change at all. I hope it gets better but I'm going to have to drop this one. <<less

Chapter 200 ! This story is so good. You may get confuse in the first 50 chapters, but it will become understandable in the following chapters. Also, it's getting more interesting with each chapter. I also like how she handle and create good relationship with new people. She's not some ruthless MC unlike other novels (which I really like). She easily forgives.. especially her two sisters. Worth reading... though there's a love triangle ongoing which is not my fav.

I am amazed at how this novel is low rated.

Really promising read among this genre.

It has characters that are realistic and they have their own character.

... more>> Like some novel, they won't just there to fight against protagonist. They have their own life to live and their own reason to be bad. Even some cannon fodder that just came suddenly has her reason for doing so and that reason makes us feel sympathetic towards her. Villains have their own agenda and they don't blindly hate the first time they see MC. Every single character live their lives in their own way like our mc.

It's too tiring to read some novels in them every person was just there to fill the plot and be manipulated by the author like a puppet, they don't seem alive at all.

But this one is different.

I will review in detail again after I've thoroughly enjoy this novel☺️

Hope you all do it so. <<less

Read it if u have nothing else to read.

The characters are interesting but they just don't have enough screen time. Like I get it FL and ML are the cool ones but damn, they barely show up later. 2 of the second male lead dies (tbf of one them is the antagonistic.)

The scenes are so rushed. There's 3 levels of realms, I wish the author did more scenes with the family the twins lived in, especially that older sis of theirs and more on the sect as well. Also... more>> scenes about the 2nd realm but nope, FL GOT KIDNAPPED RIGHT AWAY TO THE 3RD REALM. Girl really got a ride there.

Spoiler

the aunt who caused their parents to almost die just gone like that. Never show up. The FL was kidnapped yet again and then aunt just didnt give a damn anymore despite finding out she was the daughter of her little sis and the man she lovedbut got rejected.

[collapse]

Omg the author did the twin bro dirty. Just cuz a spirit beast became human, he's obsessed with her ?? WHAT.

Where are the FL's friendS ? Like it just ended with the FL and ML going see the spirit beast human form. Like literally, not even like they got kids in the future or smth. I wish all chars got an ending. Like I really wanna know what happened to Yan Ning Lou and their country. So detailed countries but its surface lvl. They made the characters so detailed but they're just forgotten.

The author won't stop complimenting the parents looks whenever they have the chance. Lil bro barely get the same treatment.

The main villain died just like that. Im upset the snake dude sacrificed himself, his last words were bitter and sweet. <<less

A good read. I thought it was a ripoff of GDBBM because of the similar character names, BUT what I loved about this is that he isn't obsessed about MC, nor is any of the characters. They acknowledge that MC is beautiful but not to the point of doing everything for her.

I love MC's character because she is nice and not as heartless like other MCs that will kill off everyone. I'm just so tired of the meaningless killings from other similar novels that this is a kind of breath... more>> of fresh air. She is so chill and knows when to pursue something or not. Doesn't take small or petty matters to heart.
Spoiler

for example, I like how although her two sisters treated them not that well but she chose not to take revenge when she could've punished them for a lot of times now. And now it lead to the two sisters admiring her instead of sowing more discord.

[collapse]

And tbh, I would rather MC not have any partners because she seems to be like a great comrade to everyone she meets. It would be exciting to see their adventures and exploits
Spoiler

But sadly I noticed in a chapter that they hinted that there is going to be an ML (lou jun yao) and is going to be with MC.

[collapse]

Everyone has their own unique personality and is not your typical cliché black bellied genius transmigrator novel.

So far there hasn't been anything lovey dovey yet and some parts may be confusing because they switch from POV to POV but you will get used to it. <<less

Start with decent plot.

Progress to cliche plot. A forced School/sect plot just to make the story goes.

When mc: 1. Hv nothing beneficial to her in that sect. 2. Know that it a dumb scheme by her s*upid sister. Yet MC still doesnt reject it..

R. I. P.

I bet lots of readers stop reading at that point. Cant blame em. I almost stop myself...

Rate 2-3 from 5* so far..

Gotta wait the progress.

Chapter 194. I'm struggling at 294 to make it to the end. Sorry isnt bad but they have top mutant different plots going. From healing him (which really doesn't do anything except act as a meeting for them) to secret of birth, lost souls, hidden realm, real origin of child hood friend, past rival, mother and fathers existence. I just finished it and I have a lot of thoughts. Let's hope this review makes sense in the slightest.

Firstly, kudos to the translation team. They always do a solid job but it needs to be mentioned.

Now onto the characters. Honestly, almost every character had so much potential but somehow they all fall flat in the end. The MC & ML are maybe the most fleshed out but even they are a little one-note.

Spoiler

When it comes to plot, there are so many holes!! And open ends! And things that I guess the author just forgot? Like the entire plot with the 3 Hell Kings, or ML trying to take over Cloud Haven? Or the Temple Lord's end story? Hell even with the second lead (QYL), there was no real ending there. The worst is probably the storyline with her elder sister? They keep hinting and yet nada! Nothing really happens.

Honestly, this story is just meh. I guess the author rushed to end it? <<less

This novel had potential to be much better, if it didn't place so much emphasis on the MC's parents' problems. I really liked the relationship between the MC and ML (I also just really like his name lol) and many side characters were really, really likeable (justice for Xi Zhan Chen omg). But I just dreaded a lot of the events related to the MC's mother, who gave up so much in the name of love and yet still has to deal with grievances from the past (from people that... more>> won't leave her and subsequently the MC alone). The parents could have had their own series, with the amount of issues they brought to the story. Also, what ever happened to Qing Ye Li?? Although I don't like her, what happened to MC's sister who liked Qing Ye Li??

The confessions were really cute though. S/O to ML for "bullying" the MC while she's hanging on for dear life (for both of their sakes) :

Spoiler

Chapter 213:
Lou Jun Yao: “Why didn’t you just throw me off? A scourge lasts a thousand years, so I will not die so easily.”

Qing Yu: “Because I know that you will not leave me behind as well.” *he proceeds to make out with her even though they're like about to fall to their deaths*

Lou Jun Yao: “Remember your own words. You must never ever leave me behind, just like..... I will never ever leave you behind as well.” *swoons lol*

First, this novel has good premise and ealier chapters are interesting to read. Even though, it has some cliche and same tropes like other C-webnovel, it's still delivered alright by author. I found myself intrigued by this story as I read more chapters. Translation is good enough, though there's some errors but it's still readable.

The drawback is, plots are all over the place. Author seems to have too much ideas that s/he cramped all the ideas in one go resulting to messy and confusing story. One problem is not over... more>> and still hanging at interesting part, but then author is too eager to put another plot to the story again and again. Not gonna lie, I need to take a note for every places, every characters' name, any information that the author has introduced in every chapters.

Spoiler

If I can put a pyramid of characters' importance for each plots which has been created by author here then it will be like : 1. MC journey, 2. ML's condition, 3. MC's parents complication, 4. Antagonists' goals, 5. Other sidekicks

This was bad, not absolute tr*sh type of bad, but frustratingly bad.

The main couple and their dialogue and banter is cute enough to keep me going, but story wise it was a disaster. The author has no idea what they want to write, with plot points changing completely just to fit whatever the author wants at that point in time.

Spoiler

The main character and her twin brother were sacrificed by their own mother to save their father's life. The problem is, the scene starts with the mother only now acknowledging her love for the father, later when she goes to save him she claims that she is pregnant and wanted to surprise him... even though they only accepted each other in that very scene.

But let's say you can ignore that, later the author changes this narrative, instead the kids were already born and the mother is pushing them to go through a fake rebirth in a lower realm.

Even later in the story, the kids were not only born but their baby selves actually got sick and rescued by one of the side characters, just so the author can claim that this is why they had an affinity with the female lead.

[collapse]

But ok, let's say you can ignore the plot points changing all the time. The female lead is pathetic! The author constantly goes on and on about how strong and independent she is and these are the qualities that the male lead love about her.

Problem is, she can never do anything herself.

Spoiler

The author introduced at least 3 primary antagonists throughout the story, never handled any of them just introducing a new one before the old was dealt with, and in the end, this pathetic main character didn't take care of any of them. The one I consider to be her primary antagonist, her "elder brother" from the past life wasn't even dealt with by her. The one guy that completely broke her heart, that gave her nightmares, that made her choose to kill herself, the one she said throughout the novel that she would kill because she wouldn't run away again, this type of guy wasn't even dealt by her in the end, it was such a disappointing, pathetic ending.

[collapse]

This is my advice if you don't want to feel frustrated. Stop reading by the end of the Faint Mist Sect arc, the story only went downhill from that point on, just create a fake ending in your mind and forget about this one. <<less

I really like this novel though I cant say I did when it first started as up until chapter 65 I thought it was quite dull but I stuck to it out of sheer boredom with nothing else to read and im glad I did. You have to treat those first 65 chapters as and introduction to all the future characters (not gonna lie I did alot of skimming in those early chapters) but it is necessary to quick read it at least because there are some precursors and stuff... more>> that you will need to know for later.

The FL is not like most when they say there docters, like they wont help anyone and if anyone dares to slight them even in the slightest they plan to ruin you. This FL is patient and leaves room for forgiveness and not just randomly on important characters (like most authors tend to do) one big examples of this is her "sisters" they tormented her or tried to but in the end she let them off even though she didn't have to. She is no saint though she usually wont save anyone without a price and there are reasons for this. This is because the events of her previous life she wants to stay as inconspicuous as possible and live a carefree life without trouble. Saving unknown people can lead to trouble so she just decides not to or not without a price (pretty much make the future problems worth it). But she will save people if shes wronged them or owe a dept to herself like the ML.I think shes a pretty reasonable person and not that vicious (dont get me wrong you threaten her people she will kill you)

One of the main things I love though is the romance its very slow and at a very reasonable pace I mean 185 chapters in they still wont admit there feeling (right now ML only FL still only has him friendship zoned) they go well together it doesnt feel forced like all of a sudden its I love this person but I dont know why. All the side characters are funny and entertaining. For those of you worried about the love triangle I wouldnt say its a true one where the female doesnt know who she likes more like in Vampire knight thats a true love triangle this is more like two guys like her but one is even a stronger candidate for friend zone or brother zone and its clear that theres no feeling nor will there be for side ML (poor thing) even though hes gaga for her. <<less
