‘If this were a drama, I would definitely be the despicable villain of a supporting character.’

And even then, a villain supporting character with no significant role.

Siwoo couldn’t utter a single word of denial, nor could he offer any excuse.

Because there was someone watching his every move.

“Did you drug my actor?

If you don’t answer, I’ll take it as you having done this damn thing.”

The shining memory he had recalled whenever times were hard after his parents passed away.

That very Han Taerim, his years of one-sided love had returned as a dagger to his heart.

“Jeong Siwoo.”

Taerim glared at him with a gaze so cold it was cruel.

“Don’t even dream of acting ever again.

As long as I’m around, you’ll never set foot in this industry.”

A situation where he was branded as having committed something terrible in front of the person he had loved one-sidedly for so long.

And because of that, this very moment when that person was pronouncing punishment upon him…

Siwoo could no longer endure it and ended up turning around and fleeing.

Edit: OMG the formatting keeps getting screwed up. If this is an unreadable block of text for you, I'm going to try to fix it later.

Currently in the middle of volume three (when a lot of these Korean webnovels get published in volumes instead of individual chapters the chapter numbering becomes different, so I don't know what chapter I'm on). Pretty good melodrama plot. It's a whole lot of suffering in the beginning before actually becoming hopeful with a more positive tone (with melodrama mixed in there, of course). ... more>>

For instance: the crime that the MC was framed for isn't made widely known to the public, the circumstances around it are actually cleared up, and the ML even makes an internal memo at his company that the MC innocent. However, the MC's reputation is still tarnished in mainstream consciousness for other reasons, so he still faces pushback at at every turn (this is on top of the the actual main conflict of the story).

MC is a typical timid, pushover bottom with low self-esteem, but he's a believable one and actually gets some character development. And he's not a genius actor from the beginning! He starts out a bad actor but improves in a steady, realistic way. The ML is SO BORING though. He's the typical overbearing CEO chaebol who's super pushy and otherwise lacks a personality. Despite being a huge jerkass, the MC is so smitten that he's okay with it, so there's that.

In a slightly different variation on the overbearing CEO trope, the ML's relationship with his family is interesting. His mom is the one in charge of the family conglomerate. The ML has his own company that isn't a subsidiary of the conglomerate because he wanted to stay out of chaebol nonsense and not because of family conflict. So he's not involved with a succession crisis or something.

Because he has his own company, he doesn't have his own infinite, omnipotent chaebol resources. Because of the lack of family conflict, the ML shamelessly uses his family's resources instead and doesn't mind if they know what he's up to. At the same time, his siblings are in competition with each other, so there's a succession crisis happening around him even if he's not involved. This affects how their family dynamics are shown. While this functionally makes the ML like most most other overbearing CEO love interests, the details help keep things fresh compared to the usual chaebol nonsense you see in these sorts of novels.

4/5, good for melodrama. The writing is isn't top tier and most characters are pretty shallow, but it's good at what it does. <<less
