Betrayal Knight’s Joyful Faith

Poor theater actor Lee Soo-hyun.

He fainted after being hit by a falling light, and when he opened his eyes, he possessed a character in “The Blue Knight of the Holy Sword”, a novel that was discontinued due to unpopularity.

What’s more, he transmigrated into the body of Arendt von Eckhart, who betrayed the Knights Templar and was destined to be executed soon.

The only thing left for the character who has completed his or her role on stage is to exit. In other words, there is only death… Character interpretation can vary depending on the actor playing it.

“Please take care of me, you traitorous bastard.”

In order to survive, he must create a role other than that of Arendt, the ‘traitor’, even if it means twisting the story.

Now, the life-threatening method acting begins!

Still too early to judge this as a good novel, but from what it has shown so far this has a real potential to become a gem.

MC's way of adapting to his circumstances while using his previous life's profession to his advantage is also quite great. It's just that from the prologue of the story, MC's behavior didn't give any vibes of him being as shrewd as he is; after transmigration.

Also the fantasy elements like concepts of 'mana' and 'aura' are less restrictive as compared to other novels that feature... more>> the so called system or skills or traits. So this helps setting the story on the path of power accumulation through growth after training rather than, MC just going around and collecting skills and traits with heroines like pokemons.

So if the author balances the story with good plot and some well thought out fantasy elements, then this would be quite the read even if there is no character growth for MC or Romance if any. After all from the revealed settings, it doesn't seem that the novel is going to take more than 10 years in that world (unless they do some time skip for power growth of MC).

Thanks to the author and translator. <<less

5/5 so far I haven't found anything I'd dislike like the idiotic nobles, useless engagements, and the 'I'm only weak when I meet the protagonist' villains.

MC is really unique compared to other transmigration novels. MC in his original life he was working at a theatre, and has interest in acting, or performing in a stage.

When he wakes up as Arendt he decides to play a role and he is the Performer and the characters are the Audience andddd this execution is so satisfying and enjoyable to read. It's almost like... more>> as the reader you're a part of that audience and he screws over many people lol

As he plays Arendt, he plays him well to the point he even called the God there a prop lol. So MC differentiates his own life with Arendt's and knows very well that he's not Arendt

But MC seems to have a great dislike for God's that doesn't seem like it's just a part of Arendt's scrip, and may have to do with his past life.

His goal is to play the role well enough that the Protagonist of the novel becomes the hero he was meant to be and for him Arendt's to step back when done.

So the clichés (not a con or pro just details about the novel)

-He has a Father who became cruel after the loss of his wife (MC has no intention of forgiving him in behalf of the real Arendt-i like that and if u decide to read the novel you'll understand why)

-MC plays The arrogant traitor who's close to the protagonist. He's arrogant, rude and ruthless. But that's the character Arendt not the real MC and we only get glimpses of his old life and from that he's more of calm, rational and centred person. MCs version of Arendt though is still the same rude and ruthless, and arrogant the arrogance isn't the edgy arrogance as if they wanna hate on everything that walks from the boring villain and antihero protagonists.

-the pros then- MC is surprisingly intelligent, I really did not expect it. MC read the novel and is aware of most of things that will happen but unlike other protagonists who would either destroy what the villains would've used or steal it before they do or use the methods the original protagonist used, he comes up with the plans himself. in fact it's never mentioned how the protagonist solved anything, wwhats mentioned is the protagonists relationship with the God, his friends and that they would fight together as for the details not much is said.

It's more like the protagonist went to this location with this and that and fought, and whoever died because of what the villain had done. So MC being a planner and coming up with ideas and traps sets him up for being really intelligent cos we see that he can also adapt to anything... what we get from the original protagonist is that they are THE protagonist, even MC has confidence in them because they are the protagonist and there's no way they'll lose while now, MC is not the main character he has to plan. It makes it even more interesting to read

-The villains aren't dumbed down to idiots and they are actually prepared and powerful.

- MC isn't overly OP, he gets injured, trains and is suffering from insomnia from carrying the whole empire on his back. He hates the overly righteous people who would die for honor. (same~)

-his interactions with other characters is funny, and Arthur being my favourite character is close to him. The protagonist seems like any other self righteous protagonist when they find something they can't make sense off, wants to dig and break the mask MC wears

- The characters like the three knight leaders and nobles can tell that everything the MC does is almost like he intentionally wants you to pay attention to him especially when he's doing that this is my stage thing. So I like that they are smart enough to notice and aren't just existing for the plots sake

Translation is 5/5

Ive read Mtl so it's nice to read the translation, there's no grammar errors and the site looks great.

(ive noticed that when authors don't want their protagonist to be called Gary stues, they give them a nasty and stubborn personality that yet allows for a bit of friendship but still draws a line between them and characters. And have the characters curse them out everytime they talk about them while low key liking them😂 and that's surmmarises MC relationship with his friends. The same happens in the return of mount hua sect) <<less

This is a sort of cliche setting where the MC's group is the good group going against the bad cult in medieval times. However, the original setting of the empire makes everyone around MC more strict and rule abiding, while the knights here are actual righteous individuals. The MC is a very unique individual that enjoys causing those around him to suffer from irritation, and I quite like those interactions. They give more life to the side characters, and I enjoy seeing those around him gradually get used to him... more>> and even get influenced by him. The MC's troublemaking skills also gives the story a unexpected twist, keeping readers on their toes so the story never gets boring. I really like this novel, and I thank the translators for the constant updates! <<less

Arrogant this, arrogant that, the author and all the characters in this novel have only ever one thing to say about the protagonist: He's arrogant. Except he's not. At all.

They also cannot decide whether he's loyal or a traitor. One moment he's being asked to do things only a loyal man could be trusted with. The next, he's being told he's a traitor that cannot be trusted. I just get the feeling like it's not the characters in the novel that all have the exact same problem, it's just the... more>> author who can't seem to keep characterization consistent with plot progression.

All in all I quickly tired of the vapid conversations that seemed to lead nowhere and inconsistent characterization. The protagonist doesn't seem to think about anything in particular concerning his situation. He just seems to thrive on doing his best to make everyone around him frustrated and impotent. This is briefly amusing but quickly just becomes tiresome.

I gave up after chapter 24. <<less
