This novel is one of my favorites! The plot is quite rare (I haven't read anything close to it yet). It involves the FL being mentally disturbed to the extent where she acts insanely, but such actions are also genuine, implying that she does not know how to act normally (speaking properly). But you will see soon.

The ML is a whole Amazon forest. He actually cares about FL, despite the fact that he doesn't love her (at first) and FL being technically insane. He would always ask her if she... more>> was okay, essentially attempting to communicate with her, and being patient with her. He's really calm and gentle towards FL.

Highly recommend! (Bonus points for thr 18+)

Note: Not everyone have similar taste. Some might not even like this novel, but I recommend trying it out! <<less

This novel is wonderful. The hero has full characteristics. He is kind, affectionate, intelligent, logical, and handsome. He is very wonderful. There are no words to describe him. The heroine is an innocent cat who does not know the meaning of living a happy life. They complement each other. They are the most beautiful couple I have ever seen in the world. Manhwa and Korean novels. The development of their relationship is fast and sweet. Art. The manhwa is beautiful and it inspired me to search for the novel to... more>> read it. I will truly be the happiest person if you translate the novel quickly. The enthusiasm is really killing me. My mother tongue is not English, so there may be some errors. Thank you very much <<less

Not sure why the rating is so low, this is a really good read. Both main and side characters are well-written, fleshed out, and complex beings. The author did a great job in describing the complexity of emotions and how the main characters navigated their emotions and feelings. The plot is easy to understand without being too simple to the point of plotholes; the touches of humor and wit in dialogue are tasteful; the overall writing was engaging and worth a try. Translation is top-notch as well, props to the... more>> translation team for their dedication :) <<less

This was a refreshing read. Enough with the crazed, obsessive and toxic MLs that are wealthy just to be cruel towards the FLs. Eirik is the example that a ML can be powerful, but truly honorable and kind. He’s patient not a pushover and gentle yet stern. The FL survives bc she is strong and rises to the occasion when needed. A pleasurable read indeed.

The story is well written and translated. Is it deep, introspective and complex? No. It’s simple enough to read and pass the time, yet be thoroughly... more>> enjoyed. Don’t miss out. <<less

While the writing is smooth, simple and plot is engaging, exciting, depressing but also containing comedic, so sweet lovey-dovey moments, also character's way of thinking, Miesa's growing, Eirik's support is written well, I want to say that it's actually overhyped. I myself was excited for next chapters from Manhwa because of the art at first. Plot seemed so similar with other manhwas I have ever read. The politics are extremely simple to understand. The king was your typical obsessed brother. Yet, I loved the cousin of Eirik the most and... more>> his mother's interactions. Those two are my favorite characters in the story because they were the one who were "unique".

Yet, as I read, I got bored In some fluffy parts, as if author took them from their real, monotous life. Just like I said, it's a great story, but it's not as great as people make it out to be. Maybe people give it high rates because of Eirik and his green flag traits. I also love him, but didn't impress me that much. It's not one of my favorites but it's worth reading. <<less

I don't understand why this novel rated so low. It's well written, well translated, the author has quite a good grasp of how trauma manifest in a person. The characters have believable flaw and not Mary Sue. The plot is very engaging as the enemy does have intelligence and not flat.

The ML is a whole green forest. He's emotionally mature, kind, calm, although he's too perfect at times, he still has flaws.

I rarely write reviews and this might be my first one writing a long review due to how inaccurate... more>> the rating for this one is. Please give it a try! <<less

I'm so shocked the rating is so low rn, 2.9? I've seen way worse novels do much better in ratings, how odd. If I hadn't read the manhwa first, I probably would've never given this novel a chance. What a shame!

The writing is light & easy to digest: this is primarily a "Hurt/Comfort"-style story with the hurt having primarily taken place before the start of the novel. If you like a genuine bona fide green flag ML & a fluffy, healing vibe that doesn't gloss over the atrocities in the... more>> FL's past & present, then this story should appeal to you. Although the story might sound like it's about revenge, it's really not. The main villain dies quickly (which I liked, it drives me crazy when major antagonists are kept alive "so they can suffer more" even when they pose a major threat). If you haven't seen the manhwa yet, I highly recommend it - the art is beautiful & hopefully they will adapt it faithfully all the way to the end.

The story is fairly light-hearted, for all its graphic subject matter. Even though the princess (Miesa) was

physically tortured, forced to witness her mother and servants massacred & mutilated at a young age, humiliated & ab*sed by virtually everyone, &

, which means there aren't any stereotypical scenes where the FL is forced to sit through a tea party and be scolded by either some bitter matriarch or a jealous rival for her *gasp* bad reputation *end gasp*. I really enjoyed the way this novel felt no need to tick the boxes of typical rofan and instead focused on Miesa's journey of learning how to be a real person.

The ML (Eirik) is a shining light of this novel for me. Ostensibly, the FL is nothing more than an enemy or a burden, but he never uses that as an excuse to be a domestic ab*ser (the bar is underground rn, I know LMAO). Moving beyond the rock-bottom standards of the romance genre, Eirik is depicted as a genuinely admirable person. He takes his duties as a lord seriously and doesn't ab*se his privileges. It's so cute in the ending chapters when Miesa and Eirik are wandering through the market in disguise - everybody sees right through it and plays along, but Miesa still pauses to think about whether her behavior is burdensome to others & Eirik seriously engages her concern. It's such a refreshing change from, say, your typical isekai rofan where the protagonist only thinks of maids & serfs as part of their ~new luxury life~ and even say things like "I deserve this after being an office worker" without ever considering that the office worker of the time period they're now in is the maid who is laboriously washing their naked body and getting up at odd hours just to heat water in the morning for them. This novel strikes the perfect balance for me of maintaining a disciplined hierarchy (when a servant gets ideas about ~what's best for the lord~ and disobeys orders, she is cleanly dismissed) without taking service for granted (Miesa in particular has a strong appreciation for the servants since she spends most of her time "spying" on them while pretending to be "insane") or expecting that subordinates give unilaterally: Eirik holds himself to a higher standard and spends his entire life sacrificing and striving to be worthy of his position. It feels earned when he decides to start living more for himself

. It feels earned when Miesa respects him and takes him as a role model and it feels earned when she loves him. He's not just an empty vase whose face pleases her.

As for the FL, she's a bit of a Mary Sue - this is mostly to compensate for her lack of education & opportunities, so it doesn't feel too unbalanced, but if you're looking for an "everyman" FL, Miesa is not the one lol. She has a photographic memory & exceptional acting skills (which she initially uses to fool everyone into thinking she's "insane",

I liked the ML's mother - she sees her deceased daughter in the FL and treats her kindly, and their relationship is eventually given room to grow

. By the end, the way they're getting drunk together and crying on each other's shoulders reminds me of my relationship with my own mother lol. It's really nice.

The ML's father felt like a realistic depiction of a disappointing, but still redeemable father.

It's grounded and reasonable.

I didn't care for the cousin Emmerich because he felt like another one of those cliché comic relief side characters that infest rofan stories like c*ckroaches. I hate this type of character because they tend to be inappropriately loud-mouthed, disrespectful, and disobedient in a way that's highly unrealistic in a life-or-death feudal setting... just for the sake of cheap comedy. It aggravates me lol. While I wouldn't say that Emmerich breaks the mould per se, he does face actual consequences when he disobeys Eirik or makes a mistake, so he ended up not bothering me & I was able to find him funny instead of annoying.

Since it's R-19 novel, there is s*xual content, but it's not extensive (I wouldn't call it a p*rn novel). HALLELUJAH, there are no icky consent issues between the ML and FL. s*x is treated as a sober reality of adult life: for example, the ML is expected to have s*x with the FL even though she's supposed to be the intellectual equivalent of an animal or a child & this is not glossed over - reactions range from sadistic glee (the FL's brother) to being disturbed (the ML's family & vassals). Obviously, Eirik does not take advantage of Miesa:
Spoiler

she ends up blowing her cover to him by pretending to her brother that s*x did take place, which tips Eirik off that (1) she's intelligent and (2) she's protecting him. They end up "faking" s*x (leaving hickies, etc.) afterward after communicating with each other, but

they don't go all the way until Miesa has clearly communicated her desires to the ML.

This novel is not a political drama. It's a wholesome romance + personal healing journey for the FL.
Spoiler

Major spoiler: she ends up giving up the throne to a cousin so she can settle happily in the Margravate with the ML.

The palace intrigues are shallowly described in favor of focusing on Miesa's emotional state. I think the novel succeeds perfectly at what it set out to be. 5/5. <<less
