Zhu Cixing transmigrated into a book titled The Turbulent Late Ming.

At this point in time, the book’s male protagonist is still just a low-ranking foot soldier. Zhu Cixing, on the other hand, has become the male lead’s very first stepping stone to military merit—Zhu Cixing, the third son of the Hongguang Emperor.

On his very first day of transmigrating, Zhu Cixing is immediately faced with his upcoming Grand Crown Prince Investiture Ceremony. The Emperor is trying every means possible to kill him, and the court officials are trapped in an endless cycle of fierce factional infighting.

After managing to survive and serve as Crown Prince for a mere two months, his imperial father is captured and beheaded by the Qing army. Suddenly, he has the Qing troops pressing down on him from the front, Zhu Yujian pursuing him for thousands of miles from behind, a complete loss of public support on the outside, and nonstop political infighting on the inside.

Faced with the status of a “Crown Prince of a Fallen Nation,” Zhu Cixing rolls up his sleeves and makes a decisive choice: he is going to become a tyrant.

Those who engage in bribery and pe*vert the law—execute! Those who sell government positions and barter titles—execute! Those who form cliques to eliminate dissidents—execute! Those who are eunuchs usurping state power—execute!

Corrupt officials curse him as a cruel ruler, the scholarly gentry brand him a tyrant, and the eunuchs aggressively spread rumors that he only managed to secure vital army provisions by selling his body, using his dignity as Crown Prince to submit to the wealthy tycoon Fu Xuan.

Later on, the common people praise him for being young and promising, the scholarly gentry hail him as a brilliant and wise ruler, and the eunuchs go out of their way to proclaim that he and Fu Xuan are like the pine and cypress trees on a green mountain—a perfect match between a monarch and his minister.

Zhu Cixing smiles and says to Fu Xuan, “Look at that. The grand scholars will naturally find ways to justify my scriptures.”
