Previous:
The Sky Mountain Range was a resting place for souls, and the living were not allowed to cross it.

This series is like a fresh of breathe. It's not about going to another world or some leveling player system dungeon adventure (not that I don't enjoy a good korean hunter/player series).

The subjects that are dealt in this series are actually well thought out and well written. It's hard to speak without spoiling plot, but the character mental and moral journey is what's been the best parts for me while also having great action.

Since this novel is written by the same author that wrote "Kill the Dragon", it's again the same old "Journey is more important than the destination" kind of story.

If you're a One Piece fan, then you probably agree with the above adage. Also if you're a fan of King Arthur and the Knights of the round table stories, read on. (Since I'm not a fan of both stories...)

Otherwise, save the time, pain and mental anguish, just read the manhwa/webtoon version to Chapter 25 (for MC eyecandy) and then fast... more>> forward to the last 2 chapters in the novel.

Warning spoiler ahead, click only if you're too lazy to even read the last 2 chapters in the novel:

Spoiler
  1. There are no supernatural beings, no higher beings of existences and definitely no afterlife.
  2. Until the last chapter, MC doesn't reach the Eastern continent.
  3. MC has a son which he neglects.
  4. Cleric/Priest Gottval (Gottbal) survives entire storyline and is more like a surrogate father to MC's son.
  5. To protect his son and to hide his son's true identity from his enemies, MC gets a mortal wound at the sides of his torso that cannot be closed and the wound festers.
  6. Meanwhile, author writes something weird about dying young and muscular while looking good.
  7. MC abandons his son again and goes on a final voyage to the Eastern continent for lultz.
  8. MC's son basically delivers a liner saying that he knows that he will never get to see MC ever again and that every human dies alone eventually.
  9. Scene changes to MC's ship. MC appears on deck and is visibly bleeding out.
  10. MC's crew comment that shedding blood on the 1st day of voyage is a bad omen, and the ship is probably going to capsize.
  11. MC jokes around, bleeds more and looks forward to the new world.
  12. Story Ends.

I just can't bro. I just really like this novel so much. I don't know why. Perhaps it reminds me of the vinland saga, berserk, but here the friendship between brothers is strong. And he's a great leader, not a lone wolf, he's the alpha leader of a pack here. He's arrogant and strong, but he's not undermining people. Well, he's what you called barbarian, but he's a great learner and smart. Looking forward to his character growth and journey!

I have fallen in love with the charm of the Barbarian warrior and crave more stories featuring Barbarians. It is a masterpiece that combines unique characters with traditional fantasy storytelling in an exquisite way!

Amazing novel, one of my favorites.

Urick embarks on a journey of discovery and curiosity as a young warrior before the world catch up to him and starts wearing him down.

Throughout the entire story, he searches for the meaning of life and death while being an absolute unit on the battlefield.

He always remains torn up between his barbarian roots and the civilization he loves and admires.

The ending may disappoint some because it's an open ending, up to interpretations as to what happens next.
