This starts off really good, but around chapter 22 it just drops. Extremely lazy writing, cultivation levels are literally A B C D E F G H I and J. The MC is really arrogant, but not in a good way. Its just really boring to read. Such a shame since it started off really well and had great promise.

MC is a waste like all chinese are without golden finger cheat system.

Cultivation is nothing more than talent like MC or resource fillings.

MC is poor is will always be poor because he has too much spending.

I was skipping through the novel. Many things don't make any sense at all.

Spoiler

1) Almost no one (99%) of the 'bank' customers honor their contracts. This makes no sense at all. As a shop that apparently almost sold everything and had contracts for everything, they all believe that the shop can't kill them when they breach their contracts? Is everyone an idiot or what?
2) Things can be solved in 1 chapter are dragged over 10 or so.
3) 'Enemies' are idiots here. They see the MC/subordinates kill someone in 'X realm' while they're in the same realm, yet they believe they're much stronger and can fight or even win. Okay?

Many problems with the novel, and it's no where near Trafford's trading club. In TTC, the MC started as strong with his shop help, meanwhile in this novel the MC does have the shop help but he cultivates and enters higher realms for more contracts to connect. It's like your average Xianxia powerup mode novels.

[collapse]

All in all, very disappointing and not worth anyone time.

2.5 is what I to rate it. (Just a disclaimer)

If your in the mood it's alright. I couldn't jump to this after reading something good because my impression of said novel would still be pretty strong and I'd end up getting angry at how dogsh*t this is.

I had some fun reading it though. Mostly because I use the novel and it's characters as a base to explore different scenarios in my head so for that I can't complain.

But it really is just a lot of power jumps. The novel... more>> isn't without its highlights but for the most part it's just fast food. A waste of a super interesting concept if I'm being honest, this novels main problem is it's too fast, I know it's how these type of novels work I'm just sad and disappointed. (Much like the power levelling the novel powers through the story leaving no time for it to any meaningful impact. I mean look and Blood Dragon and Moon Angel, an example of what this novel is like when it actually slows itself down.)

Back to my fast food analogy. This novel can't compare to a novel I'd liken to a beautifully cooked steak but for me when it comes to fast food there are still one or two menu items that I can enjoy just as much as that steak. This novel is like that for me.

Much to hate here, I mean the novel can be unnerving at times especially for those easily revolted by merciless acts, I mean the MC can be borderline disgusting so here's fair warning. I just mention this point because I understand his perspective at these moments to an extent personally though I find the character petty and vain at these times. There are moments when it's more impactful to remain silent.

Spoiler:

So the MC was walking round a mountain and a mob character is chased by a group of beasts. This character calls for help but she's ignored by the MC this cause her to direct malice and hatred to the MC who in anger towards her for breaking his concentration and hateful speech proceeds to insult and kill her.

Just ignore her like you were going too then I'd have zero qualms with your actions even if you silently kill her off I'd be fine with it. If you crushed her like an ant treating her like dust hell yeah I mean I knew from the get this MC wasn't going to be completely likeable and was fine with a more merciless character.

My problem is the pettiness and hypocrisy comes to play. This guy treats himself so seriously yet he allows himself to stoop to such levels. I'm fine with petty characters at most I'd hate them at times sympathise with them at others. What I hate are hypocrites no one writes them well, you see I got no problems with characters full of hypocrisy what I hate is when the story doesn't acknowledge the hypocrisy. Every time a character acts hypocritical the same thing happens, nothing changes I'm told something different from what it actually is and the story continues.

I know I used the word hate but I'm not really mad again just I'm disappointed.

(Edit: Ok so I thing I cleaned it up well enough.) <<less

Similar to Trafford's Trading Club, except with more cultivator type setting and the MC actually has to train to make himself stronger. (And worse than TTC)

MC is super poor due to the previous Bank Masters' inept decisions and terrible business practices, so his goal is to become a wealthy and powerful Bank Master and clear all the bad debts while reclaiming all the things the previous masters lended out.

The character interaction mostly happens between the subordinates since the MC is too OP in the world they go to, and... more>> all things would be handled in an instant if he were to go himself. But the former customers are overly s*upid and arrogant. Like 99% of them, I can only remember 1 or 2 that actually lived up to their contracts and despite all of them freaking out when they see the Contract they signed they still choose to fight rather than pay it off. Despite clearly being afraid of the owner, it makes no sense.

The fight scenes aren't good. They literally end after 1 or 2 moves, not that it's a bad thing but it's not interesting. It's hard to put my feelings into words about this so I'm moving on.

The back stories of the subordinates are boring for the most part or don't really get touched on except for Blood Dragon and Moon Angel so far.

Overall, it's not that bad but leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion. The whole thing is pretty much about the MC inheriting the Bank and collecting all the debts owed to him from the previous owner's transactions. Recently though, it's been feeling kind of dull since it seems like the sequences are just repeating themselves.

Spoiler

MC sends subordinates to claim contracts.

Subordinate gets into trouble with one of the former customers.

MC shows up and kills them.

MC uses the collected material to increase his cultivation.

MC unlocks new world.

Repeat.

MC is arrogant without any thing to fall back on besides the plot armor. Then he gets op out of nowhere. He is hot blooded without any plan. World building is sh*t at best. Villians are ret*rded. No, that's insult to actual ret*rds. Copy paste villians with uselss dialogue dragging things that can be settled in one chapter to ten. If you like face slapping, slaughter, arrogant and idiot MC that jumps into fights without any plans and you don't value your time, this novel is just for you.

OK. there's face slapping, but it's not the usual constant stream of arrogant young masters and their families, and mostly the MC or his minions bulldoze over everyone and everything. the out of nowhere rom-com moments that happen sometimes in the middle of a serious arc are jarringly out of place, but some people will probably like the story more for their inclusion. I did have some other issues.

first off, on the technical side this story has a lot of spelling and editorial errors. at some points the grammar is straight up MTL with little to no editing. there are times when you read sentences like "Li Xaindao told Li Xaindao to leave." if only happened once I wouldn't bother but it happens so many times in these 500 chapters I lost count. sometimes it can get fairly confusing when the author changes pov and has two people the reader isn't familiar with talking and you have no idea who is saying what because the both have the same name.

now, onto the story content.

the MC's cultivation happens overnight and most of the time his training has been off screen. after the first trip into the time room his cultivation is smooth and taking cheats doesn't seem to harm his foundation at all, so he cheats a lot. he does put in effort, but mostly we see him fly through levels or even skip them entirely, depending on the authors whim.

speaking of levels, the cultivation system is really vague, especially at the start. since the MC pretty much skipped straight to Saint, the levels under it weren't clearly defined (or I missed it). and speaking of either an editing mistake or mistake on the authors part, at one point the MC skips over Human Celestial stage and claims to have gone straight to Legendary. there are many chapters about people being at the Legendary stage. another hundred or so chapters, and there's a Legend stage, which comes after Boundless. then several chapters further the author writes out the current stages and there is no Legendary stage... however they were too lazy to go back and change it in the already written chapters. stuff like this happens quite a bit.

the MC has wildly inconsistent personality swings. sometimes he's a nice guy who treasures his subordinates, and sometimes he's a Machiavellian mastermind who toys with his s*aves and causes trouble just to see what they'll do. it gets much worse the further along the story goes, though he does always have their back in a tight situation.

lastly, this MC is deeply misogynistic and homophobic and the author's humor seems completely based around humiliating one of the MC's "s*aves" and derogatory comments about women (even his compliments are condescending). and when that particular s*ave "overcomes his sissy nature" he's still a boot licking joke character who can never catch up. the two traits are so bad that by c 200 I actively disliked the MC, which dropped the rating by 1 star. when the romance scenes started I couldn't even read them without feeling disgusted at the condescension of both the MC and the writer, so I started skipping them completely.

Pretty disappointing. It started out interesting. I liked the premise of the MC being the master of a supernatural bank and needing to collect on a lot of bad debts left behind by the previous master. The challenge of the MC being a weakling made things interesting. It was pretty funny when he was pretending to be his own master; characters bluffing about their own abilities is always fun.

Unfortunately this didn't last long. The MC quickly became super OP after one training montage. His double identity was discarded. The story... more>> became less about the MC cleverly finding ways to force people into fulfilling their contracts and instead just bulldozing his way through, and even assassinating the holders of contracts he didn't want to fulfill. That really cheapened the story.

Furthermore, the guests of the bank became less and less interesting. His deals started to feel more like extortion, s*ave contracts became his SOP, and half his guests were repeats of people he already knew. There was this big deal about him needing to find suitable hosts for these God Race powers that the bank had, but it took him almost no time.

Worse, the last host didn't even agree to be combined. He literally forced their hand onto the contract while they were unconscious, binding them to be taken over by the God Race power and to serve him for life. Like, author, maybe give your character two ounces of charisma and persuasive ability instead? And maybe then he could have convinced them to do it willingly (they were in a pretty desperate situation after all). It still would have been shady, but better that just rushing things with lazy writing.

Adding to that, there is some careless misogyny thrown in there. Maybe I could ignore it if the rest of the story was good, but it's not so...

Spoiler

There is this character that wants to merge with a God Race power that he found, but there is a problem that it's a female God Race and he doesn't want to change gender. Ok, valid, I can understand that. But he doesn't need to rant for so long about how awful it would be to be female and say things like "I don't want to pee while squatting!" That's kind of insulting towards women... just say you don't want to change your gender and stop at that.

Then, when the MC alters the power some so that the guy can merge with it but stay male, it only sort of works. He is still physically male, but takes on some female characteristics. Like an effeminate voice, and... putting on make-up without noticing? (Ah, yes, females definitely frequently accidentally put on make-up without noticing. How else would you know they are A Female.)

Basically he starts acting like a drag queen/transvestite and the others make fun of him for it. Pretty low and prejudiced attempt at humor really. This isn't a huge aspect of the novel, but it's something that bothered me and didn't seem necessary.

[collapse]

Basically, this is a pretty bland golden finger novel with a lot of wasted potential. You might get some entertainment out of it, but don't expect much. <<less

This is a standard cultivation story except that the hero gets a cheat organization instead of a cheat skill. Everything else is cliche. Enemies are s*upidly arrogant. It’s lawless. There’s sects and pointless tr*sh talking. Nothing about the events, characters, or progression stands out from the thousands of identical stories in this genre.

Some what enjoyable if you have nothing else to read. However cultivation speed is broken. One example is taking 500 years to reach a few realms but then it will take less then ten to cross more higher realms than the 500 years before. Main character forms 19 worlds in his dantian so he decides to put less effort into his bodys Qi cultivation just to move to higher realms faster. Doing this is pointless as the 19 worlds just require massive resources to expand them increasing there energy, which... more>> is done separately from his qi cultivation. He could have combined both to be even more powerful but doesn't raising his cultivation for no reason. What he is ignoring is the cultivation of basic laws, the more you have beforing breaking through the more powerful and potential the cutlviors has. This is even worse as the main characters prohecy talent would allow him to learn the all the basic laws of 10, 000 master in 10 years. He also has access to those masters which are apart of the inurietwnces mountain of the bank as well. Chapter 607 was a huge disappointment as it went against the main characters true personality. He had been extremely hard world through the entire novel always trying to acculmate as much as possible before breaking through. However now just recently ascending to the Immortal realm and the first decision he has is to breakthrough fast instead of accumulating like he always had done before. The reason being the abusrd excuse above about the 19 worlds being his main focus, and how that some how means it's fine if he is lazy in his normal cultivation... <<less

Unrelated Rant

I wish another TL would pick it up since the current one is a bit of a d*ck (joke) he has a release of 1 chapter per 12hrs like wtf? It gets really painful there are many readers who agree with me that it's bs

the MC is definitely a d**kbag but lets be real he is just someone with a lot of power. He isnt a benevolent god nor is he meant to be. I respect that he tries to adhere to the bank's rules but there was one loan that irked me at the start and thats about it. (Dali grand elder) since he killed someone just because he didnt want to pay the fee which was s*upid writing on the author's part.

other than that there are some kinks in the writing which... more>> give the MC some conflicting personalities but I suppose its believable if you look at it as people not being black and white and not clear cut. There arent any major conflicts regarding that tho just some arbitrary paragraphs.

lastly the thing that I like about BotU is that the cultivation is arbitrary its less about the struggles and more of the sights. In comparison to lets say WSSH or TDE, BotU is more like a pleasant stroll through the park than a rollercoaster of emotions. You get to see more of an overview and less of the nitty gritty details. The world building is decent, leaning towards good since it focuses less on relationships but thate makes the character building terrible.

in conclusion, I think if you like stories that move your heart, adventures that leave you breathless and mysteries that puzzle your brain, this isnt the one for you. HOWEVER, if u like stories that introduce you to new worlds, that let you see different perspectives and ideas that you've never thought of, this is the book for you. Its rlly relaxing and you can just enjoy the ride without having to worry too much. <<less

Well, he's been doing so far is to get does scammer pay back and restore this cheat. Then again I like it even if have a flaw.

The MC just no other road he think off since the last owner have a pig brain. Doing a lot nonsense and after that useless pig die, he leave does problem to MC.

This is really hopeless from the very beginning. The bank of universe is not perfect enough to set a rule that no flaw.

I don't even know what attract me to read this. Maybe just curious what will happened in the end.

What is the 'other' cause of this bank to almost disappeared before MC. Its worth for me to read this till the end.

Even if he do something not good enough is ok. Anyway this almost the same of two of my favorite novels.

I like the novel. It's new, it's fancy, it's op.

Though I really like this new genre, sometimes some things aren't connected properly. And the character change of the protag was a bit abrupt also, but all in all, it's a good read.

(I also noticed that Webnovel translated novels aren't very well rated on NU, which is sad really. But I hope whoever reads this review can give this novel a try and not directly tr*sh it)
