This isn't a very good novel so far, and it probably won't improve. I mean it's fine, I've read worse, but it's not well written and the beginning of the plot is very disconcerting.

Character progression is quickly handled at the start, and then forgotten. He meets the first what I presume to be love interest, and they instantly bond, trust each other and party up together. Abrupt and unrealistic. In general, characters don't get fleshed out. The focus is on action and ramming through some of the... awful plot.

The plot... more>> is abysmal. Every ring or similar item he gets is a special item. He always meets the special people gets nice stuff, lucks out on everything. He kills someone, has to flee somewhere else and like ten chapters later he kills another person he shouldn't have killed... Go figure.

I don't like novels overusing "levels". Subdividing the apprentice level into like six unnecessary sublevels is counterintuitive. Fewer levels with clearer dividing lines, that's what it should have been.

The translation is fine, but could use an editor and is a little confusing at times. All in all, not at all deserving of a 5, let alone a 4 or 3. Dropped. Also, Jason Statham, Picasso, etc. really? I hate it when a novel uses names of famous people. Action movies and art don't have anything to do with the novel. It's not a useful association. <<less

Honestly speaking, this is a good story. But the author doesn't seem to have his script figured out; at times we're stranded in a sea of paragraphs that details ONE fight against a character that is:

1. Not essential to the story,

2. We won't ever remember them in the next ten chapters.

But fret not this novel has plenty of good things to keep you on its ship. What I appreciate the most is that this novel keeps some semblance of originality, which is getting pathetically rare nowadays, and what's more... more>> is that some of the sidekicks have character background that rival that of the MC, and they've their own thoughts and ambitions, some of which even conflict with that of the MC. The plot is good, but at the same time gets you thinking and engages you in the "what if" scenarios.

Give this novel a shot, you'd like it I'm sure. <<less

there's many problem with this but the worst one is the MC, he's just not likeable in the sense that he behaves like any other mage in the story, it makes his actions generic and uninteresting. Also the author is just bad, he keep saying how calm, collected and rational the MC is but the next second he keeps making trouble for himself with his recklessness. Also he got this female companion whose beautiful and loyal but because he's not a mage when he think how she'll like him he... more>> say how terrible it would be because he wanted to reach higher as a mage and live thousand of years while she's just gonna live a hundred years at best and it's not worth it, what a dickmove. Also he have this notion that mage is a cut above the rest and any non-mage must always respect them but later he makes enemies with all kinds of people when his female companion/s*ave is insulted. The author wanted the MC to be many things but failed to properly succeed and the result is an MC with double standards in everything he do. <<less

Ignore the first two chapters as that is more of a prologue, I love the story so far. Good amount of action with a Good Story Line. No OP MC. Translation is "ok" 3.9 out of 5. There's definitely sections you wonder if it was translated right or not. If you liked Throne of Magical Arcana but thought it sure would have been good if that story had more Action then this is the story for you.

I agree about the reviews by timma and DicerX

Gave it a 3-star. Would've made it 4 if not for the author's awful habit of drowning you in walls of tedious text during inappropriate sequences. What's worse is most of it are stuff that's completely unnecessary and sometimes even unrelated to what is happening in the story. I really, really liked this novel and the plot but the way the author drones on and on about nonsensical and redundant stuff turns me off a bit.

Review at c194 (2⭐)

I'd tell the author not to write if he's not got things figure out. Around this point we had the longest and most pointless action sequence, and once he gets to the place he deviates from his goal for an absurd reason. Out of character a bit..

Review at c495 (4⭐)

I pushed through. For about 40 chapters I told myself "don't think about the overarching plot, just enjoy the adventure". I feel like it worked. While that psych felt dry, the content it leads to was... more>> pretty solids. Future action moments are less artificial. The MC actually makes it from Point A to Point B without having a fight, which shows huge growth for this author.

Relationship stuff is slow, but he does have progress, so you should look forward to that.

Averaging to 3⭐. Quality content, but sometimes annoying content. <<less

This is not an action packed thrill ride. The MC is not super OP, and there is little to no face slapping. The book takes a bit to get into, but is thoroughly enjoyable. My only concern is that I am almost at the end and there is way too much not wrapped up yet.

Although the ending is a bit rushed with some open questions left unanswered. Overall, the story covered most of the major plotlines and ended on a good note. The story could have continued but it stopped at a good point. The book is a story worth reading but is nothing out of the ordinary. Overall an enjoyable read with a good aftertaste.

The novel fails to attract readers. There's no special trait that would make this novel stand out from the rest and appear interesting.

The MC is generic. Characters are no better. Too many mage ranks, too many flaws that just cross out believable behavior. These characters and developments just don't feel natural.

A battle novel for younger audiences is it, huh.
