This is really good. I mtl it to the end because the plot is so engaging. There is a quite a bit of hilarious drama between the two leads due to misunderstanding between MC and FL. But then, as the story progress, the author begins inserting some heart wrenching moments in it too which makes me cry like crazy. The poor MC gets misunderstood a lot because of his past life before and I find myself in tears as I read onto the discription MC inner suffering. The story ended... more>> on a kind of bitter sweet ending which I felt it ended too abruptly since the author dropped the huge bomb when there is only 2 chapters left of the story.

I really wish the author wrote more to what happens to MC and FL after the big plot twist at the last 2 chapters. Still, there was some sort of closure to it and I'm glad it wasn't left open ended like most novels do sometimes. To sum up, I don't have any regrets reading this novel and would most recommend it for those who likes gender blender stories. <<less

I MTLed this to end since the MTL of this novel is surprisingly readable, and the current translator just machine translates and barely edits it so I didn't miss much. This novel is full of drama, I loved all of them, I'm a pretty big fan of misunderstandings after all.

This novel really gave me the feel of how China was in the 90s, the characters feel real and their decisions are very much what you would expect from their location and time period. This was the only story of this... more>> kind of genre (Travelling back to Chinese's 60s-90s) I could find on NU with a male main character (Which I don't even know if this counts because its gender bender), and I really want to read more of these now.

Echoing what the other review said, the best word to describe this novel is 'bittersweet'. There were a lot of sweet moments at the beginning and more bitter moments as the novel went on, some so bitter it makes me wonder why this doesn't have a tragedy tag yet.

Overall it was a fun trip, even though I'm not satisfied with the ending, as it looked very rushed and some very entertaining potential dramas were very much just discarded. The author just rushed what could have 1-2 story arcs in just 2 or 3 chapters and ended the novel, so even though it was not an open ending, I just feel empty about it and want more. <<less

This book talks about a woman wearing a man's body, but it's not really expressed in the book. If it's not mentioned that Wang Licheng was a woman in his past life, it really would not make a difference in his current life since he just acts and thinks like a man, anyway. I wonder if the author is a man or woman?

I don't know if it's just because of the translation or writing style of the author, but it's pretty confusing.

Anyway, the reviews here pretty much some up what... more>> I think. <<less

A rather realistic take of two popular tropes, "transmigrated to the past" and "female transmigrated to male body". Although it was not narrated very well, I liked the issues within.

It started simple, seemingly similar to all the slice-of-life stories with the same premise. But then it slowly revealed the ups-and-downs that should have been present in a "transmigration" story, namely "fetters of the past".

I have always been dissatisfied when some novels easily said transmigrated individuals ignore the past with superficial reasons such as orphan, broken home, loner, etc. So, it's... more>> good that this novel tried to talk about it.

In real life, both good and bad experiences created the present us. All of those experiences and its emotional fetters should also follow us to the next life as long as we still have the same memories.

For example, if I had traumatic childhood due to a violent dad, will I forget it if I could transmigrate to another person? I think I won't. Or, let's say soldiers with PTSD got transmigrated, will they suddenly be psychologically healthy? They won't. Or when someone grieved the loss of a precious grandma, then he/she should look her up when he/she got transmigrated to the past.

The novel also tried to talk about all the unfair treatments that women suffered in that era. The absurd demand to have a son rather than daughter. The difficulties for working females to be a perfect housewife at the same time. The necessity for a woman to have a vibrant career beyond the confinement. The MC love interest was not perfect (some might even dislike her character), but that was how lots of women in real life looks like!

All in all, it was a pretty good story. There were several weaknesses, but other reviewers mentioned too much already and I won't repeat them.

My actual rate for this novel is 4 stars (reduced 1 star for weak narrative and bad translation). But I don't think the current overall rates (3.5 stars) is fair, so I'd rather give it extra. <<less

I really liked this novel up till the extras. I'm just really disappointed. I thought this was a sweet up and down realistic novel, but the extras just ruin the whole story. Although the author explains why the MC and female lead came to this point, I can't think this novel is anything but those dog-blooded sh*t novels. How much I liked the female lead, how much I dislike her now. In the end, the female lead acted like a rich arrogant teenage girl. Looking back, I can't help thinking... more>> about how the female lead was moved by the MC. Looking at the process of all of that, I can see that the female lead does think about caring about the MC, but because of the MC supports and dotes that in her heart she took it for granted that the MC should help her. In one chapter (I forgot which chapter it was), she admitted that the MC dotes on her making her so controlling and over possessing of him. In the scene where she thought the MC had an affair in Hong Kong, she thought the MC should come and appease her, but he didn't and she just flipped out with such dramatic thinking. In the aftermath, she didn't reflect on herself why they came to this point, but only hated the person who caused this accident which showed her narrow-mind. (Maybe during this era, this may be normal, but I really hate this. In china, they call this 'long hair, short knowledge'.) Even during the end, the female lead still acts this way, which is just a person with middle-second syndrome. Although she matured in her career, in her love life, it's a mess. The reasons may be because the MC's tolerance to her and the fact that she had a higher status that she became arrogant and full of herself even though she acts modest. Like the last extra, the author told us her previous life, although she had achievements in politics, but her personal life was dull and family less that she failed as a wife, mother, and as a individual person. Just the fact that the MC almost committed su*cide that confirm it. (I have to say, it's really dog-blood at this point, 'if I don't have you, then I'd rather die' kind of scenario.) I wonder if the author likes the strong women career female lead more than the MC that the MC suffers more than the female lead. I wish the author wrote more of how the female lead learns to reflects on herself for her family (rather than reflect herself for her career) and how the MC learns to be more poised, confident, and self-loving. Expressing himself more rather than keep everything inside until it explode, and trust more on the present rather than be confine in the past and previous life.

Update, I realize that the female lead acts like those brainless love-brain cannon fodder. <<less

Translation is almost unreadable pronouns slipping between he, she, and I mid sentence so it seems like three people are responding instead of one. Someone else stated this seemed like an unedited MTL and I agree

This thing he saw in the little movie when he was in college. At that time, he not only looked at the postures of men and women, but also more women. At that time, I accidentally watched a video of a woman's love when I was looking at LES's information on the Internet.

After watching it once, he was out of control, and he also found a few movies for men, women and men to watch.

But she was absurd for a week. Every time she watched it, she was worried; for fear that her roommate would suddenly come back and be discovered.

It could be better. I find the story to be fast paced, cliche and predictable. I won't state in detail what parts of the story I find odd and frustrating.

To best explain what I think of this story is that it's fast paced that it doesn't give enough time for the characters to evolve naturally. You will just be surprised that by the next chapter, he is already achieving things normally people will take time and a lot of effort to achieve (for example). I think the author downplayed the... more>> story of the MC hardwork. You will understand once you read. The MC would make things seemingly easy to achieve. Of course there are supposed hiccups along the way but it's like a passing statement and in a few moments, it's okay. The only part where the MC has real trouble was when he is dealing with other women. Like when he was photographed with a female star or when he was sent to the hospital because of a misunderstanding.

In summary, I believe this story has much more to offer if only it was told in a little more detail. Not necessarily too much detail that it becomes boring and redundant. But in a sense that it can showcase more of the characters hardwork and relationships. <<less
