The Female Lead, Ji Qing, is just too uncommunicative, too introverted especially towards the Male Lead. The Male Lead, Jin Cheng, is a cold, chauvinistic man. How could he expect his wife to talk to him when he doesn't even want to listen much less to hear the words. "Early on their newly wed life, he would always snub his wife whenever she tried to express her dissatisfaction." Top it off with his prenuptial agreement with her and his rule that she does not interfere nor meddle with his life.... more>> Besides, he was always out of the house and entertaining himself with others. He never took the time nor consideration to look at her, to understand her, to just listen to her. He is very similar to the other Male Lead jerk, Mo Cheng in The Stunning Abandoned Consort". Both of them are on my list of worst men.???

But anyhoo, the translation gets better but it was left unfinished.... such a letdown... would like to see if Ji Qing will get better. Would love for another man to pay attention to her and her daughter. Hehehe... Give Jin Cheng a taste of his medicine.??? <<less

The story has potential, but it's hard to write a proper review with so little chapters released.

What I like so far is the character development and world building. It has the touch of realism most seek in stories. Which makes one feel as if they're in the story experiencing the happiness and heartache alongside the Protagonist. It's not a perfectly formed reality, but who's reality is truly perfect?

No one is perfect; and the author of Ba Ai Mou Qing has done a decent job of portraying this in... more>> her writings.

However...

The story is rather slow-paced and while fleshed out decently, some of the characters, protagonist-ahem-lead male, can be annoying ASF with their interactions or lack there-of in terms of connecting as lovers. But alas, these types of people truly exist, so how can I hate the Author for adding them into her story as they are, flaws and all?

To conclude my review for the time being, the story shouldn't be snubbed but do know you'd either love or hate it by the tenth chapter. It depends on how you analyze the overall work. <<less

This isn't a terrible romance story, just a very harlequin romance kind of style. If you don't mind the overused tropes like no communication between couple, unexpected (but completely expected) surprises, and dominating male with weak willed female, this story has its charms. If this does ever get picked up again, I hope they start at the beginning with better English grammar.

Surely this is such an emotional novel, I would rate it 10 stars if I could lol. It is a slice of life kind of thing and I loved how both leads misunderstood each other and separated, like the summary suggests I'd read this novel if you like a novel with a romance that starts of cold and has plenty humour and sweet moments in it.

it’s at best an ok story.
The female lead is way too submissive and the male lead way too domineering which makes for really cheap drama. But the male lead goes through character changes.

And I did find the novel entertaining despite its flaws.

Now there are disturbing moments in the novel that I do not condone but find consistent with cnovel clichés about relationships between man and woman (double standards, assault and r*pe, etc.) I read so many cnovels I am no longer concerned. But if that is not your cup of tea then skip this one.
