Zhang Siyi comes back from his overseas studies in architecture and is looking for work. His girlfriend, however, is full of complaints, for Zhang Siyi never has time for her. She breaks up with him in a fit of rage while throwing coffee over him.

Zhang Siyi manages to dodge the coffee, but unfortunately, it hits the guy behind him instead. Just when he is about to do something about it, the guy dismisses him and leaves.

Zhang Siyi thought that would be the end of it, but who would’ve thought that the very next day, he will meet the man again… in a job interview. And being hired by him will be just the beginning.

I started reading this after seeing it on a recommended list of novels with healthy relationship and I do not regret picking this up at all! It's a fantastic novel with developed characters and an interesting plot. I'm actually so happy I came across this novel, it's quite inspiring and I didn't even realise I needed the motivation that it gave me.

I liked this story very much. I strongly disagree with the reviews criticizing the ML for being too much. He's being human, and the MC is doing well pointing his shortcomings.

I was afraid it would be boring (more than 200 chaps !!) but after some chapters I felt it was very well paced for the romance.

I feel that even if they started with inequality (well, he's the boss and a genius, so...) they managed to have an equal relationships. It was a beautiful story, mentionning very well the difficulties of... more>> coming out to the parents, and the struggling of the parents to accept them.

I could re-read it someday. Give it a try ! <<less

I really enjoyed their relation ship.

Sometimes I didn't like the strong dominance of the ml, like Siyi was worse in everything compared to him.

But I liked the slow and LOGICAL development of feelings and understanding between them.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this novel.

However, I'm not giving it a five, mainly because there are 2 things that made the reading experience a little less enjoyable for me.

One, I felt that this could've been shorter. While I love slow burn novels, this just felt way too long. I do love the sweet moments and enjoyed how the relationship between Zhang Siyi and Gu Yu developed little by little, but it just felt a little dragging when I was reading 70% of it.

The other thing was, the Japan trip part... more>> just really ticked me off.

Especially that part when someone joked about breathing carefully in Japan because there's a ton of radiation. Seriously?

While the author tried to pass it off as a joke, it really wasn't. It was completely unnecessary and almost ruined the reading experience for me. I don't understand why the author had to include it.

i absolutely loved the characters ヾ (≧▽≦*) o. I loved the fact that it was not the boring type of slow burn novel, the pace of the story was smooth with the characters facing some obstacles along the way but these obstacles were not super dramatic and instead helped to build the characters. The plot is amazing and I loved the architecture element in the book, it was written in such a way that anyone could understand. Character and plot development were great! ZSY is such a beautiful character, he... more>> expresses his views clearly when needed. He can have a temper and at times act like a child, but once he know his mistakes and wrongs he apologizes and reflects. Also I liked the fact that he didn't submit to GY so quickly, he can't refuse GY but can still hold a temper against GY. Also he can be headstrong but also docile. I love the fact that he seems so human-like and is not just a character from a yaoi I've read. His growth during the story is so heartwarming, he obviously is a person lacking in many things but with GY's guidance and communication with his peers, family and friends, and facing hardships together, he grows into such a lovable character. I liked that he wasn't afraid to enter into a relationship though society may be harsh on then and the fact that he loves GY and was willing to be with GY for a long time warms my heart.

Now, initially with GY, I had some misgivings, bc he seemed to be a bit hard on ZSY and bullied ZSY so much, also he seemed too perfect and felt like he was only a character and nothing more. But as the story progressed, I got to see that GY isn't a perfect person too, he has his insecurities and also needs to be loved and encouraged and though he was harsh on ZSY at times, he does it for ZSY's own good and only wants the best for ZSY. I loved the fact that GY was not a perfect person, though he has a super handsome face with a scholarly he is bad with music and can be petty and gets jealous. I loved the fact that he envy other couples who can openly show their affection during their tour in japan. I also liked that though he can be meticulous and rigid, he is many a times willing to compromise for his loved ones.

GY and ZSY's interactions are just so sweet. GY and ZSy's interaction with their family and peers are so adorable, I loved the book and found myself unable to criticize it.

Thanks to the author for an amazing read and thanks to the translator for giving so much effort to translate this story and letting me have this chance to read this wonderful book.

The author is wonderful and has great taste. *Cough* probably cause my birthday is on the same day as the male lead's (✿◡‿◡) (*^▽^*) ♪ (´▽｀) (☞ﾟヮﾟ) ☞ヾ (⌐■_■) ノ♪* cough*

But putting that aside, this is truly a great novel. To be very frank, I love, love reading about new things and areas that I'm not very familiar with, and this is a paradigm of that! What I've read so far has given me an insight as to how the architecture world is and works, and if you like reading... more>> about new things just as I do, give this novel a shot!

In terms of our protagonist, I must agree with the others- he truly is a little foolish. He is not childish, but rather child-like, and all the reproaching done by our dear male lead (heh (〜￣▽￣) 〜) is well deserved. But, he also has the qualities that truly makes him a main character that we all would want to root for, so do read this novel.

Edit: Okay, I see why other reviewers didn't like the not so dear anymore male lead. He is a little annoying.

Omggggg its amazing so inspiring !!

At the end of the story I cried not because its sad (it has a super nice ending) I Got goosebumps omggg the feeling when your dream came true the bloody hard work that you put in finally gets pay off.

For me its a life story full of hardships, devoted love, learning, accepting your ups and downs, being patient learning that some things need time to accept and realizing you are not alone there are so many folls outside like you XD.

The story is so... more>> good, very motivational, and I had so much fun reading it.

MC is so hard working and ML is Like a teacher just reading this story I learnt so much it feels Like I am at some lectures in the university and the ML is the professor but everything is sooo interesanting XD.

MC and ML are so devoted to each other, every now and then there are some sparks, but the MC is so dense 😅.

Both are especially supporting in their carrier, those two are so fuuny, the side characters are also qute fuuny and they are not just for "showing up and nothing" they have their own little story.

I know many say the ML is like a bully but I don't think so, first he only wants the best for MC and supports him in every way and he is not a control freak, he lets the MC do his own choices in life no matter what happend. Second the "bullyng" its not really bullyng, lets be real not all the people in this world are the same. To be honest I am a black belly especially when I like someone its sounds chilldisch I know (even if I am over 24 XD) but thats just how it is the more I Like the person the sharper the tounge is and especially the sarcasam gets so much to use.

Dont judge the ML everyone has its own way im expressing their love even if its sometimes stup*d MC and ML are amazing as a couple and get support in every way, I highly recommend this novel its so beautiful it really is, please read it 🙏🙏💓💓. <<less

  • Strangers to Lovers trope
  • MC & ML stays in relationship for most of the book
  • Realistic characters and character development
  • Black-bellied ML
  • Dog food duh
Architecture part is really interesting for me tbh, since I like learning. Author has a good knowledge on architecture and human nature, which clearly shows in the book. I love reading about characters in love without dumb drama, and good smut ofcourse, this one clearly wins in both. Some comments are about architecture part being boring but tbh everything involves MC or ML so it... more>> isn't anything boring.

Also the CP feelings aren't as spoon fed in the start, so if you like figuring out character feelings based on their actions and words, then you're in for a treat. <<less

Well this novel is about how a jobless young man got a job, faced difficulties, regrets and overcomed them. This story mainly revolves around his career so don't hope for romance too much. It's slow burn.

Author wrote real work problems that we might face in reality. And romance, both MC and ML are imperfect.

Reading this novel makes me regret how I just spent my high school freely and never thought about the future. I should have study hard. And I realized that I might not meet such a kind boss who will be patient to you.

My future might be like Su Yan who life is working with no purpose. Small salary and no experience.

And how MC overcome his weakness and working hard everyday and night. Ofc ML is also patient enough to teach him basics.

And I cry at the part when MC worked the project tirelessly without complaining and that project was rejected. I kinda blame ML for not telling MC about canceling. Imagine u put blood and tears into sth and that was rejected without even seeing. No matter how good his mentality, he woul collapse. And I get that MC was feeling down and frustrated so he would have temporary negative thoughts about quitting. The thing is ML did not apologize first and hit him. What I wanna say is I know it's not his fault that he didn't expect that MC would finish the job in just 3 days. But would it kill him to apologize first and advice MC nicely?

I am gonna cry whyyyy did it end I could have read thousand chapters more omg seriously one the best I’ve read so far. I can’t believe I waited too long to read this ugh such a beautiful story. The MC is so cute he is hardworking and the character development was 💯 the ML is the lover everyone dreams in their head so loving towards MC like the couple was so sweet and loving towards each other clearly they were both too deep in love. The architecture aspect was... more>> so interesting that me who has no knowledge on it was really immersed in all those infos that GuYu (Gu Xiao) was giving to MC. And there was this part where I couldn’t hold my tears back and cried a long time

when our baby had to rent a place but didn’t have any money his efforts had gone to waste his love was unrequited his best friend left him and he felt that he was inferior to others so he decided to quit his job and after fought with ML like that part really left a great impact on me I felt all the emotions he was feeling and I understood how miserable he was fortunately everything ended up well

Their families, friends, coworkers, those projects like everything was so intriguing. I loved how realistic this novel was I loved the messages I loved MC’s progress like while reading extras I felt like crying my baby deserved it all I’m so proud of him and the ML again is one of the most supportive ML’s I have ever seen I love him seriously recommended no words left this is a masterpiece <<less

This is a great story!!! I find myself giggling to myself while facing my phone screen or caught my palm slapping my bed in an ecstatic mood. I'm like this o (>ω<) o for almost half of the novel. The MC was annoying in the beginning, but the character growth and plot development were pleasant. Their relationship was mostly smooth sailing, the part that wasn't smooth could be better tbh, it was too mild to suit my taste. If only there is a side couple!! *Squeals repetitively*

In sum, this story... more>> is so adorably cute! While it is a fluffy sweet story, it doesn't lack the character and plot development that is lacking in many other fluffy stories! This novel is more than 200 chapters long, you need to tide through many chapters where you may find the MC childish or whatsoever! <<less

This novel has everything: well researched architecture context, strong character development, good pacing, adorable fluff, angst and much appreciated smut.

It is one of the novels I re-read the mushy parts frequently bc the emotions they provoke are that good.

The author seems to have written many novels, but only a handful are translated. I hope more people request them so that others can enjoy and support her works.

This story tickles me so much, because I'm doing my thesis for my undergraduate program right now. I've so many to worry, about my future, finding jobs, about neither my skills are enough for me later. Oh god, it's like I'm reading a senior's diary and learn some from his experiences lmao.

The story is realistic, but with adequate amount of fluffs. One of the lines that I remember so well is, "he realized that it's not only them that live in the world". I've read so many bl novels, and... more>> it's like, they never cared about other people and shows PDA constantly. It's not like I hate PDA from novels, but it's just kinda unrealistic. But despite that, there are still so many fluffs! Arghh!!

I love this novel so much!

Before I read this, I worried that i'll get bored bcs it has about 250 chaps. Now I want more chaps!

This was such an inspirational story to me. The MC starts off as an immature new graduate, but you slowly witness how much he grows, how he learns many life lessons, and achieves his dream.

The ML is basically perfect in his academics and career, but not so much in his relationship with the MC. In truth, he’s surprisingly insecure about how/if he can maintain his first relationship with the MC.

Both the MC and ML needed to take steps and learn how to be a good lover to their partner. They... more>> reflect on their faults throughout the story and help each other better themselves. <<less

This was such a nice sweet read. Watching them grow together in their love life and career was so satisfying. It was incredibly detailed as well with lots of technical terms that made it interesting. I also really enjoyed the life lessons they discussed in the book as well 😊

4.5/5 this novel is just fluff, but about the personal and professional growth of the MC, from a fickle person that's just started his career to a more mature (still as cute) person with a great career. The MC wasn't over bearing at all, he apologized when he did things that upset the MC and is constantly trying to become a better person (he was amazing to begin with). He helped the MC grow a lot. The love was both passionate and strong

I love this very much! One of the best! I love how the story depicted the day-to-day life of the characters and how ZSY's relationship with GY developed. Their struggles, not only in their careers, but also when it comes to coming out of the closet with their loved ones! The build-up of their relationship and character development are superb! This was a really good read! I also read one other work of the author, Waiting For You Online, before this, and I can say that he/she is great! The... more>> translators, especially in the later chapters, did a great job too, if we just ignore some typos and errors. Definitely a 5-star rating! <<less

Real characters facing real life crises. The ML is a little OP but the sections from his point of view revealing his insecurities make up for that. Plus the architecture stuff was very interesting or all new to me--making it almost like a fantasy or sci-fi novel with an imaginative setting.
