Kakazu Kio, a senior high school student in Okinawa, Japan, woke up to find a strange girl beside him giving off the soft, steady sounds of a person sleeping. Moreover, there are cat ears and a tail growing out of her! In front of the bewildered Kio, his childhood friend appeared carrying breakfast. With a stern voice she asked, “Where is the pretty girl who returned with you yesterday? Introduce me!” Just as these two harsh sentences were about to turn into a full-blown pe*vert denunciation meeting, the beautiful by-the-books teacher, Itokazu Maki, burst in, making things even harder for Kio. However… this cat-ear girl who calls herself Eris is, in actual fact, an alien! But a mysterious group that refuses to accept this kind of alien contact as well as the CIA, not to mention the Japanese Intelligence Agency, are all reaching out their grubby hands towards the lighthearted Eris! “Stop it! What did Eris ever do to you?!”

This is one of those series people tend to either love or hate (unless they ignore it). Since most only know the anime, you’d be forgiven for thinking it was all about fan service. But if you look past all the jiggles and sways, you’ll notice that the story is actually well thought-out with a clever villain and an MC that actually does stuff to protect his girls. The uncle and assist-a-roids are refreshingly awesome as well.

As for most people's complaints, it usually has to do with the romance. Thankfully,... more>> the novel and manga both take a more serious approach to the romance. He’s not oblivious for no reason, and the endings are satisfying unlike how things are treated in the anime which actually borrowed bits and pieces from various later volumes to flesh itself out.

Some also dislike the genre-hopping, but I personally love that part.

TL;DR If you didn’t like the anime, you might find you’ll still like the novels as long as you’re as big a fan of sci-fi as I am. <<less
