The fluffiest, sweetest and the most adorable Xianxia/Wuxia story.

If you are diabetic, stay away from this. If you don't want to have cavities, stay away from this. XD

You might not handle the sweet dosage of the ML and FL.

A fairly positive 3.74 ☆

I think my expectations for this were too high after reading some reviews. It's a good and mostly enjoyable story, quite easy to read, with really satisfying elements and some elements I'm a little tired of.

The main thing I really enjoyed about this was how refreshing it was to read a cultivation story where everyone wasn't dog s*upid blinded by pride and jealousy and strength. Sometimes reading standard cultivation (YY...) novels I feel my brain rotting away with how no character, regardless of strength, seems to... more>> be able to let go a single bit of jealousy or perceived slight regarding the MC, nor opportunity toabuse everyone less powerful, and the whole cultivation world can't seem to see the benefit in behaving differently.

I found it so satisfying that the cultivation world in this story has people with common sense, let alone basic morals and kindness, despite there still being rivalries and jealousies. I also loved how, especially the main sect in the story, actually seemed to properly follow Taoist/Daoist philosophy. Many other novels seem to pick out aspects of Dosism to make a magic system (e.g. balance of yin yang or 5 elements) but completely disregard a lot of the guiding philosophies and that has always grated on me.

There were also a lot of characters who were treated well by the author - they had their own personalities, were given strengths, were allowed opportunities to grow or show kindness or nuance, within the limits of the lightweight tone of the story. I even felt a little emotional at the death of one minor character who didn't appear for long.

I also really enjoyed how battles were not endlessly drawn out and that the plot was not simply comprised of an incessant serious of increasingly threats and battles. Time was given to breathe, to spend time with characters and to have lighter moments.

Finally, although I often enjoy fictional age gap romances in settings that aren't too realistic, I was genuinely a little uncomfortable with this one (particularly with just how young the MC was). Buffy-Angel gap but less convincingly done. This was until a fair way into the book the author cleverly contrives a way for the MC to make up a lot of the gap, so if that does bother you as well, you can be reassured that the gap becomes significantly more acceptable before they... do anything that would be unacceptable. 😆
...

By about halfway through, I became a little less interested in the novel. The initial setting of the main couple is a young, talented lively, charming and endearing MC and a cold to others, devoted, almost OP ML. After a while, though, it sort of becomes a story about an important MC who can do no wrong and everyone loves. That made it really relaxing to read, but also a bit less interesting for me, a bit more like most other cultivation novels with a male MC, and up til then I'd enjoying that it WASN'T like those. It didn't become a BAD story because of that, not by any means! It just took a bit of the sparkle off it for me. (And why did it feel like the author didn't like the Buddhist characters very much...?)

There were also standard things that I always find tiresome in Cnovels - the constant focus on beauty as if it's a character trait (beautiful people are more worthy, plain or ugly people aren't), gender stereotypes and generalisations etc. Nothing unusual for C novels, it's just better for me when these things are at least less prominent.

...

Overall, this was a pleasant story to read, solidly written with some genuine charm and sparkle at times. <<less

im sorry. The fl’s just too bland and boring for me. I also dislike how her senior brothers repeatedly said to her to not relate everything she reads in storybooks in real life, but she didn’t listen and continue having “why does this not happen the way the storybooks told me” 🙂🙄 I really couldn’t persevere into reading more. I have to drop this. ;-;

I read up to chapter 140 in English, then the rest in raw.

tl;dr - This is a very simple and relaxing cultivation story. It's a great palate cleanser if you've been reading a lot of DRAMA DRAMA DRAMA and want to take a rest for a while.

It is so relaxing, however, that absolutely nothing bad happens that is not immediately (or nearly immediately) fixed. Now the book knows that its main characters are completely OP, we have a foil in the character Lin Hu who constantly points out... more>> to us just how unreasonable the two main characters' actions are. (Lin Hu is my favourite character in the entire story - unfortunately, he barely gets any character backstory or character resolution and is kind of missing from the last 5 chapters)

This story is very light on the feels, the only emotion I got reading this is how,
Spoiler

130+ chapters in, Kong Hou still doesn't know Huan Zhong's real identity, and now you have supposedly humourous misunderstandings by her Master on Huan Zhong's feelings.

[collapse]
It wasn't humorous, I was just frustrated. But it was very minor compared to other novels I've read.

Again, let me reiterate, this is a great story for those who are looking for a rest from all the ANGST, PAIN, JEALOUSY, FRUSTRATION, FEELS~ of other stories.

This is neither a good introduction to cultivation novels, nor one people should pick up if they're looking for complicated plot or character depth.

It's only just... nice. <<less

Thank you translators! I love this novel. Although the romance blooms slowly the MC & ML get a lot of screen time together. It’s not like some other novels where the ML only shows up once in a while and you are left wanting more. Well tbh I don’t think I could get enough of this couple even now. ?

Giving this a try because of the high rating and lots of 5-starred review..... I regret it. The two star is for the translator. If not, I will give this novel one star. I persevere until half and then skimming through until the end since I want to know what will happen to ML.

If you do like Mary Sue MC, then this is for you. But, unfortunately I already passed that moment in my life when I can fully enjoy this kind of character and storytelling.

The MC here, Kong Hou,... more>> is what you will call a flawless character. I can say that she is the number one Mary Sue character that I have ever read/watched in my life. Not only everybody love her, she gets to be the number one genius, and she has a perfect kindness. It will not be wrong if people call her a saint.

MC is a princess from previous dynasty, bullied by the current imperial family in her childhood. But, she does not have even a bit of resentment. On the other hand, she blames her own father and herself. Of course, this kind of virtue is worth of admiration. The problem is the MC was 9 years old. For a child to have that kind of thinking, it kills all enjoyment to see how the MC character will develop later on. And, it is proved to be true, MC literally stay as spotless as snow until the end.

I understand that we human being should try to be like Kong Hou: kind, forgiving, etc. But in the end human being is full of flaw and we are to make effort throughout our life to be better version of ourselves. So, when I get a character that already flawless even during child phase, this create such an unrealness feeling when I read the novel.

Worse, this Mary Sue - ness does not only apply to the MC but to her whole sect. She gets a sect that somehow born in some holy land that does not have a spec of evil thinking. No jealousy, no internal fighting. The sect is ranked rather low, but somehow full of hidden tigers and dragon, and feared even by the number ranked sect.

People said that the romance is sweet. Well, for me the romance is far too sweet until it somehow become unbearable. The ML somehow just a pendant to the MC despite being one of the most powerful characters in the novel. Until the end, it has never been explained clearly just what ML mental demon is. <<less

Chapter 15

Everyone is adorable, all is fluffy, nothing is happening except another pleasant surprise. Why am I reading this? No plot and the relations are so instant, sweet and artificial they seem to be a fake facade. But no - just sweet.

Th MC has no passions, no features of character, no events - she is just adorable, obedient, wants to cultivate and behaves like a 4-year old. And she is super talented for no reason. She is not kind, or funny, or brave, or anything, she doesn't help anybody, doesn't... more>> bear grudges or unfulfilled promises, doesn't miss anybody, doesn't have secrets - a regular boring boiled egg.

It's like a 9 year old with an IQ of a talking dog tells me her boring dreams.

Chapter 25 - I stopped wasting my time.

First, I would like to thank the amazing translators for giving us a chance to read this masterpiece (/ω\).

The translation was done well and it was easy to understand thus the flow of the story was not disrupted and really flowed very well.

Moving on, let me talk about the story itself. To be honest, I put this off for so many times because I was afraid that the plot would suddenly derail and follow the usual path that xianxia novels I've read before had taken. I know that there are... more>> very well-written xianxias out there and not everything feels too fast or too unnatural, it's just that I may have bad luck in looking for reading materials with this genre qaq.

Anyway, the characters are good and not flat, for me at least. The female MC, although shown to be really talented and a natural-born genius, has her own flaws. She starts off as a little naive and innocent parrly due to her age and her sect's pampering. But as she travels outside and experiences new things, she learns a lot and also matures even more.

The ML may come off as cold and I was afraid he'd be like the usual type of icy cold, overbearing male leads that seem to be a popular type in xianxia novels I have read before qaq, but he isn't. He's more than that. He has his own flaws and misgiving and he also reacts like a human, albeit one who isn't familiar with emotions and being 'human'. I love how as time grows, he also matures and develops, not remaining flat as a character.

The side characters have their own personalities and stories as well. I would like to read stories regarding them as well qaq. The sect masters and the disciples may not appear all the time but I was able to remember who they were because they really had memorable parts. Some of them were rarely mentioned afterwards, but it didn't feel unnatural for them to bow out of the narration. There were also foreshadowings that made me go 'I knew it!' when the revelations happened.

I also like how the story is easygoing and it has a lot of comedic scenes. The misunderstandings that happen are also funny and not forced. I feel like these misunderstandings sort of have some realistic feel to them. The issues were also resolved smoothly and even the main villain of the story was resolved properly.

Overall, this is a good read and I recommend it.

WARNING THOUGH! The fluff and sweetness of the story will make your teeth hurt and give you indigestion. Hahahahah <<less

This book is a sweet and light cultivation novel. If you're looking for a somewhat serious, and "realistic" cultivation novel, this is not for you.

MC is like the harry Potter of this world, the chosen one. Why this novel needed a chosen one, I do not know. The plot didn't really need it, but I'm not the author. But it has similar aspects of HP. She is an orphan, the chose one to defeat the great evil lord, is very very lucky and seemingly just has what she needs fall... more>> into her lap at the right time.

The romance was cute and sweet, but not what I could call heart wrenching or overly romantic. Simply put, it did not move me. Towards the end, it even got more nauseating and I was a little bit put off by all the fluff that was happening. The author fell into the trap that many authors do, in that once the main characters pair up together, they become less interesting and boring versions of their single selves. It's very tragic. Not that their personalities were that interesting to begin with. Both are quite simple. MC is cute and sweet, like a flower. Many people like her because she is so cute. ML is strong, handsome and cold, and only warm towards MC. That... basically it.

I just realised I was just tricked by the author into reading 150 chapters worth of boring fluff about really simple, happy go lucky characters, and actually enjoy it. <<less

It's a good story. Our MC is adorable, kind-hearted and have a strong will. Readers will like her so much

Until this chapter 20, I still dun know who the ML is. and I'm too lazy to MTL so I decide to wait for the next updates...

Hope that the translator group wont drop this story.

The plot so far is very heart-warming. No scheming and everybody around the protagonist are get along well. This kind of story is definitely good for our leisure time...

The honest review is like this : the first 120 chapters, they're top-tier. Reading them is like reading some world-acclaimed novel. The pace and setting, the emotions and world-building are insane. If you had to find a webnovel that represent "China", those first 120 chapters would be it. People have "face", sometimes fight, all sorts of cultural reasons come up for characters doing something. They have the heavens, respect for the elders, ancestors, etc. But, all those are portrayed realistically and that's important. There's noone going mu*derhobo for face in... more>> this novel, for example. If I had to be nitpicky, the main problem is the male lead, he's one-dimensional. I haven't checked, but I think it's a female author, so the male lead is written from that kind of perspective. But it's ok, when men write novels, the female leads usually have big kohonas and follow behind MC obediently, yes, female leads, because it's most likely a haram. The last chapters, they're on average quality, it was a rushed ending, we needed a big villain, etc. The novel could've had at least 500 chapters the way it was going, I don't know why the author had decided to rush it. So that's my review, the first 120 chapters world-class, the last few are ok. I recommend reading :) . <<less

Although it is a cultivation story, it has a unique perspective and is quite relaxed. I think it’s refreshing compared to the typical transmigrated FL face slaps everyone who looked down on the original host and spends the remaining time powering up.

I really like stories where cultivation isn’t just meditating, but also related to the way they live.

Spoiler

Some more novels with unique cultivation:

Dao of the salted fish

Devil venerable also wants to know

There was another one where FL cooks food which turns into elixirs/weapons or whatever they need. Like she made a many layered cake which became a foundation pill. One of her juniors cultivated by earning money and keeping accounts. I don’t remember the name but it was a fun read.

[collapse]

If you’re expecting a lot of action or drama, then this isn’t the novel for you. But if you’re interested in a lighthearted read, then this is a really good story. <<less

This is one of the best novel I've ever read and I'm so glad I finally decided to read it because of the high reviews. This is a very great, slice of life with quick character progression (power wise) novel. Like most novels, the MC is lucky - and I mean, literally, the world genuinely loves and spoils her, lucky to the point she encounters no hardship she can't pass. After her childhood as the mascot scapegoat, it's a turn of fate.

It's amusing because it calls out many of the melodrama that plays out in other novels and sails smoothly over it, but you can also tell that it could easily flip back because people's... more>> opinions change at the drop of a hat, especially without Kong Hou's influence, which is subtle but reaching. There's also a part of the story where Kong Hou says that something (fighting over men) is a thing of the past, but I doubt it. I'm more inclined to say that it's not that it doesn't happen, it's that it's rarer and definitely out of the MC'S scope. (Another book can be written about this world from another perspective, and you'd find Kong Hou written in as the powerful female side character mentioned passingly that everyone loves due to her personality and actions in the past, while the main character is the underdog and struggling their way up, which is a more typical cultivation novel).

I really do like the story, but the novel's downfall and highlight is the male lead, in my opinion. First, the age difference is 18 to 300+. He meets her at 16 (or so), and practically never leaves her side afterwards. Their interactions with each other are so adorable and sweet... but it really bothers me when there's other people around because we can see that they're obviously going to be romantically involved but we also know she's extremely young. Lin Hu serves as a convenient and loyal servant, but also points out how young Kong Hou is and how Huan Zhong is taking advantage of her kindness and luck as well as naivety. It's especially awkward when Lin Hu has comments about how Huan Zhong treats her well like a father, which is not really something a reader wants to view the main ship's relationship as. 😩 I do agree that Huan Zhong is really taking advantage of Kong Hou's naivety and reliance on him as a source of knowledge, though. Like another reviewer said, there's no particular reason the author had to make her leave the sect and meet the ML as a teenager; she'd be widely regarded as a genius even at her 30s.

Also, it bugs me when Huan Zhong blocks other people ("young" men) from looking at Kong Hou, or that one scene where he broke apart the security seals and entered Kong Hou's room. Like, legit trying to be possessive and stalker-ish when they're just friends so far. 🥲 It gives me chills when people try to block their partner from interacting or being interacted with intentionally out of jealousy, pettiness, or just desire to possess their sole attention.

I think the reason Huan Zhong likes Kong Hou is that she is genuinely kind and optimistic. As someone spoiled and protected in the cultivation world, she has a skewed perspective of life from novels she reads. It's kind of the same perspective as a middle aged man finding renewed interest in life when they get together with a young partner that hasn't been through hardship and hasn't become jaded. They're in different stages of life, and eventually the rose colored glasses might fade over time, or it might be something evens out between them eventually and stops mattering like the age thing.

Of course, this is a novel. These wouldn't be big issues that can't be overcome in a romance story. 😂 Keep in mind that this review is up to chapter 80/81 so far. <<less

I have always found most wuxia/ fantasy CN novels to be a little confusing - 'so called good sect' with lots of jealousy/ greed/ random killings and stealing vs 'so called bad sects' with well, the same things.

Not this novel.

One of the best in this genre. The good people are actually good. The bad people are actually bad. Good people doing bad acts have a reason and bad people doing good acts also have their own reasons. There's no senseless sect fights, no greasy/ creepy elders trying to get on... more>> with young girls for longer lives and no inter-sect thieving/ killing/ looting. The celestial masters take care of mortals very carefully and cautiously and are well-loved by the masses.

If you have read a lot of wuxia/ xiania novels and are tired of reading about good people who love to go around calling others around them 'slut/ b*tch' and 'I will kill u' for no particular reason, then u should read this novel to enjoy a nice story about good people and bad people.

Most fantasy novels are very loose with morals - killing/ stealing even by MCs is normal and acceptable. But this novel will make you re-think fantasy novel morals and ethics twice.

I have read this multiple times, I am currently going back to read this and I will still rate it solid 5 star. Tbh it deserves more.

And this author is just perfect. I have yet to come across a novel by her which is not good. Any of her novels make for such great reading.

Special mention - T/Ler has done an absolutely terrific job. Every sentence/ word has been carefully TLed to ensure best meaning. Since fantasy novels contain words/ idioms which may not have English equivalent, TLer has made sure to give in-depth explanations for those too. Hats off and if this were a published book, I would legit purchase it. <<less

This story has its unique advantage no other cultivation story has. It has a systematic governing system and regulated alliance between the sects.

This makes the story very unique because there is no crazy kill, kill, kill.... you offend me, I kill you, you touch my mother, I kill you, you look at me funny, I kill you moments.

But at the middle of the story (around chapter 70 and that secret realms bit) the story becomes dull and boring. There is no excitement. No new experiences or anything to look forward... more>> to in this cultivation world. The fight scenes are even dull (the MC rarely even uses her main weapon, it's a lot like an accessory).

Truthfully, after chapter 70 or so, the plot becomes a rinse and repeat. <<less

Honestly, highly recommend this story.

I know there are heaps of repetitive and plot hole filled xianxia stories, but this one is really different from the rest. It's light hearted, but you still get that feeling of level up. And it's not like the characters are super OP (ok maybe a bit) but it's not annoying. It's more about two people going travelling together and naturally depending on each other. AND ITS JUST SO CUTE.

The ML isn't overbearing and really respects the FL. And you can really feel the equalness and... more>> balance the two have. I cracked up so much throughout reading it.

Translation quality is also pretty good :D So that helps getting into the story :)

I laughed so much when it seemed like Kong Hou was being scrupulous towards Huang Zhou. BAHAH Especially when she wasn't giving him "status". So funny.

Absolutely wonderful. This is the first cultivation with female MC that I've read that is logical, no face-slapping, no third parties, satisying and just very sweet.

ML is 3 centuries older than MC, at first, he just loves to hang out with her then he became lonely without her. Because of her, he dared to use his broken spirit flatform- for her, someone as unsullied as he knelt on the mud and used his mouth to feed her. He respects her and admire her, shows her love even in small details.... more>> If that isn't love I don't know what is. He's a powerful man, but bows down to her, is obedient to her every whims and loves her dearly.

MC is beautiful, smart and witty. Just like any other girl, she likes beautiful things. She is free and loves her shifu, shishu, and the whole sect. She's very lucky and managed to get ML's very rare and almost extinct medicines and as the third wheel said to ML, 'Master, I think you need to repay her not only in this lifetime, but also in the next'.

Her feelings for him was realized with the help of a tool. But it doesn't erase the fact that she in fact, loves him too. They support and respect each other. Loving each other to the bone while protecting the normal citizens. They're benevolent to the good and rough to the bad.

Now let's talk about the others. What I love about this novel is that there's no mysoginy. Every girl is beautifu with no envy. Women admire each other and help each other to be beautiful. No one steps on the other. The surrounding characters are supportive and lovely. You won't see any illogical details. Even the main antagonist was made logically.

I just love this so much! 6/5! <<less

This novel is packed full of fluff, Over Poweredness, and strong relationships.

Contrary to many typical cultivation stories, every orthodox cultivator isnt an idiot and even some greedy cultivators do things with honor.

Each sect isnt the same either. They all have their quirks and personalities of the cultivation world. And above all else, they prioritize strong relationships. Small disputes and face aren't enough to cut off all ties, especially when evil cultivators run amok.

As for our FL and ML, everything is sweet and peachy, especially the FL and her relationships with... more>> others.

Tbh, I teared up a little at the end when the FL said she had to go back to the secret realm because she made a promise with someone.

5/5
