This was a pretty decent read. A man who gains the ability to look into the past of objects such as paintings. They don't go overboard with it like other novels. Besides the magic aspect of it, it's more or less grounded in reality. By that I mean the characters actually act like real people, with only a couple "arrogant young masters" with no redeeming qualities. The reason why I didn't give it a higher score however is that the ending was absolutely terrible. It felt like another one of... more>> those novels where the author suddenly didn't want to write anymore, so just scribbled out five or so more chapters to quickly end it. There are so many unanswered questions that I actually felt unwell after I realized that was the last page.

Read this if you enjoyed treasure hunt tycoon but wanted something a little less insane, but keep in mind you're going to feel upset over the sudden ending and lack of answers you've been wanting through out the entire novel.

One thing, though.. And it involves the ending, so only read the spoiler if you don't care.

Spoiler

One of the girls that met up with him about 3/4ths through the novel suddenly ends up being the main enemy? She had him attacked although they were about to leave to go to where she wanted because she wanted him to hurry up??? This was such a forced and pretty much unbelievable ending. This is the reason I felt unwell after finishing it. Plus, they never even told us what happened to the woman!! Did she die??? Was she captured?? They just suddenly jumped to a page long epilogue after he blacked out showing how happy he was with his life without even explaining anything!!

After the death of MC's father, grave-robber MC gains appraisal insight powers decides to make his dream of making an art gallery come true by making new connections, finding new treasures, exposing fakes & making $_$

I enjoy it so far.
I like that the small bit of fantasy is not just thrown in for the heck of it for MC to be OP, as there looks like some story plotting/foreshadowing going on.

I read seriously until ch 125 when ... more>>
Spoiler

a character named Hasenna or Hassena is introduced and suddenly, she had to marry him for bullsh*t reason. She's an Arabian Princess and she trapped him by inviting him into her car. So, by bull*hit law, he had to marry her. Instead of getting angry, he was like, "Oh, fck, oh well." Like what the f, dude?

Then, I got off Webnovel and skimmed illegally because that scene infuriated me. The whole time I skimmed, I wondered why I didn't stop earlier, I questioned my whole life, and introspected deeply as I felt like a bloody goof.

Spoiler

Then that woman died, but actually not bcs magic, literally. Then she approached Haejin, changed identity into Silvia, became an American woman. The marriage naturally won't happen anymore, but Haejin/MC kept meeting her anyway bcs beaussy. I guess. Despite having progressed with Eunhae and he himself kept feeling bad about it. He is technically not cheating, Haejin and Eunhae wasn't dating, but that's how it felt like to both me and him: cheating.

The whole story I skimmed since c126 was uncomfy. It's really not to my taste, and it's very repetitive, too.

3 stars for effort from c1-c124, -3 stars for sh*t story from 125 to the end. The reason I'm giving 2 stars is because I read 85 last chapters illegally, and I felt guilty. However, I'm not sorry to say, this story doesn't deserve even 1 star. <<less

This is a good read. It was different from what I'm usually into so I wasn't expecting much but I was hooked. My only complaint is the ending. It felt too rushed. Literally felt rushed. Like blink and it was over. It honestly felt like the autjor just wanted the story to end so they didn't bother with it

But despite that, I'm still glad I gave this a chance. The artifact part of the story was interesting. The relationships of the characters was good and the MC was a character... more>> that didn't make me lose interest. <<less

Not a bad story, I'm being slightly generous with the rating though. Although some have apparently disliked the ending I actually admire the authors decision and commitment to end the series in the way he did and not drag it out for longer word count/more money etc.

If you appreciate art on any level and like very small amount of 'fantasy-realism' as in realistic world such as ours mixed with minuscule fantasy element then reading this will be good time for you.

Not much to say about world building, I mean it's... more>> basically our world so whats there to build? As for plot or character development.. Well the story was set in really quite short period of time, I didn't actually count but I'm sure more than year shouldn't have passed in this book world from chapter 1 to 209 (at least that how it felt like) so realistically it's just really difficult to find problems there. 'Situational plots' for the lack of better word were always relatively similar, MC is introduced with an artwork and he appraises it- sometimes it's real sometimes it's fake. I mean that was the point right?

If I had to find something negative about this story it would be that something was ALWAYS happening; there was never any 'break time for brain' as in soft-filler content like slice of life type of things. I feel like those could of slightly enhanced the quality of the story. <<less

A brief summary is that our main character, Hyejin, recieves an artifact from his grave-robber father, and this artifact gives him magic powers. The powers allow him to, among many things, see the past of an object. As such, coupled with his extensive knowledge, he becomes an appraiser and we follow his story.

Objectively speaking, this novel is mediocare.

The style of the author is somewhat confusing, as some things seem dragged out, while others are very rushed. Especially the ending, which happened so quickly I got very confused.

That being said, for... more>> lovers of art and those interested in artifacts, like myself, this is great. Many different pieces are introduced, both western and eastern, they are explained well, and there's also many talks about forgeries, the stories behind paintings and so on.

All in all, I gave this a 4/5 due to the weird ending, and it would have been 5/5 otherwise.

If someone finds art and artifacts boring, then this would be a 3/5 at best, and frankly, I recommend against reading this. <<less
