Forced by his little sister, Leon was reincarnated into the world of an Otome game that he had conquered right up to the moment of his death.

He was trying to lead a peaceful life as a mob character when he encountered a single female student trying to ignore the flow of the story and try to replace the main character. After seizing Marie, a girl with an atmosphere similar to that of his little sister in a previous life, Leon succeeded in thwarting the attempt.

I should have made the right choice……but what is this uneasiness?

The “if route” web novel, which was a bonus in the “Mobseka” survey and received a huge response as “too tough,” has finally been published in book form with significant additions!

Can't believe this was rated 3, 9. This spin-off is basically what a good story is. Anoseka doesn't have the syndrome of beta pushover wimp MC like the main route, have real staking, true to role as mobs, better world building, better story telling, better romance despite the alabama, and no OP luck that always wipe MC ass. Also, the MC actually fricking develop as character in just one volume compared the main tr*sh route and wasn't baited with good premise then fall into a bunch of bullsh*t cliche of... more>> tr*shy shounen harem fantasy. Leon in this route is not a doormat at all and was really interesting, just like Marie.

Anoseka how you make interesting novel about 'mobs', not the Mobuseka with fake premise that actually an wish fulfillment of idiocy. The spin-off definitely live up to the title of the series itself for "the world is tough for mobs" and not going for tr*shy harem MC in skin of being a mob character. <<less

Since there is no one else here yet and the descriptions are lacking, let me give you a quick rundown on what this novel is.

Spoiler

This is a spin-off, a side story, an alternate timeline. A much darker timeline than the original webnovel. This is the 'what if' Maria route. What if the MC chose to instead get along with Maria (his sister from irl). Why is this darker? simply cause it chooses to add in the previously skipped or brushed off matters.

What happens to the MC in the prologue is the same, yet the undertone which was played up for comedy is now shifted to be more serious. That he collapsed because he wanted to fulfill his sister's wish. That this led the sister to a downward spiral with the family disowning her because of how she kept deceiving them. That she got into an abusive relationship, losing custody to her own daughter and now her new boyfriend knocked her head against a pole thus killing her.

I will temper your expectations a little tho, because right after being 'reborn' it seems the sister is more insistent on 'i deserve a better life' instead of seeking redemption or atonement. Which just seems a bit oddly tone deaf.

Regardless, I am very excited to see where this goes. It is the kind of twist I wanted to see in the original series, even if I understand why the author chose not to do it... till now.

Unfortunately, it looks like this is a straight-to-LN release, which means god only knows when the next installments will come out, if they do at all depending on the commercial success.

Preemptively I will give this a fair 8 out of 10. It is written well, descriptive, a show-dont-tell kind of feeling at least from the little that is available till now.

This is a refreshing take from the original work wherein Leon is paired with Marie as opposed to the harem route. I agree with the other reviews and praises for this story as it actually fleshes out both MC and Marie as characters, as opposed to the original story where MC is quickly turned into a harem protag cutout after the first arc and Marie being bullied cutie trope. In this story we find out more about Marie's backstory and how both Leon and Marie actually meshes well for each... more>> other (this is a new world so past relationships don't count lol). It may also sound that I'm tr*shing the original source but it pays to read the original before reading this so that the reader will appreciate this alternative story more.

Also I'm glad we're done away with the main cast from the original story because personally, they're pretty boring all around. Leon, Marie and Luxion are pretty much the only interesting characters to begin with, in my honest opinion. Give it a read and support the TLer for doing a good (MTL) job at it. <<less

When the alternate story-line is better than the original novel. I'm serious when I say that this should have been the canon route / the one that should have been adapted to an anime.

The main improvements of this to the original work being:

1. The protagonist no longer fall to the bad self-destruction trope i.e. The "i don't care if people hated me because of some s*upid misunderstandings that could have been easily rectified if used half a brain-cell"

2. Marie is now actually endearing and no longer one of the most... more>> asinine character.

3. The characters acts more maturely / are somewhat reasonable when it comes to their actions (it still remains to be seen for the capture targets). <<less

So, I have read the original story Mobuseka, and when I see the spin-off, I'm quite skeptical because I don't like Mobuseka too much. But I'm wrong.

It's really interesting to see the different takes of Mobuseka, with the focus in this story on Marie. We see more exposure to the character, from Leon himself to Marie. What I don't like about Mobuseka is the inconsistency in Leon's behaviors, and of course, I don't like harems in general because I know harem stories are really hard to develop each character pairing... more>> properly.

Of course, I still like the idea of Mobuseka; it's still entertaining. But the way the author handles the connection between the heroine and Leon himself is, well, not quite good, and Anoseka really fixes all the issues.

To enjoy this story, you can read the original story first, but it's not a must. If you are new to Mobuseka, you'll still enjoy this spin-off and, dare I say, find it more enjoyable. But there is quite an interesting game for people who have read the original story.

How Leon will resolve Olivia and Angelica's issues because, in here, Marie or the villainess in the original story is the focus. Leon met her in volume 1 timeline, and it's quite different from the original story where, in Volume 1, Leon never met Marie, and in Volume 2, Leon met Olivia and in here Olivia is just abandoned.

So, It's recommended to you all who want to read mobuseka but more realistic and of darker tone than original story (yes it's darker, and really it's more enjoyable because character interaction become more engaging.) <<less

Honestly all I got to say is that this is a frustrating good novel.

Same as the original novel this spinoff is based off on we follow Leon and his journey through this Otome Game World as a Mob. The difference begins almost immediately as we go more in depth into the perspective of Marie, the antagonist of the original novel. The twist being that we get WAY more into her point of view and back story as a character. Building more into the brother sister relation that Leon and Marie... more>> didn't build up from the original.

NEXT PART IS FULL OF SPOILERS!!!

And all I got to say is that this novel is so bad it's good. I hate the authors writing style and direction, but the fact is that they're a fantastic writer. From the stubbornness of characters, the Main Protagonist MAJOR character trait of acting only at the last minute and being passive the rest of the time, to misunderstandings that occur only because characters don't talk, the same elements I don't like from the original are there. But the author writes in a way that's refreshing no doubt, he knows his characters, they act as how they really would in those situations that matches exactly with the original source.

I just dislike how easily we switch up on the good graces of Leon. Like the only way for Olivia to be on Leon's side is for Marie to not be a priority, and then in this spinoff the only way for Marie to be on Leon's side is for Olivia to not be a priority. In both tellings of the story we see not just from the perspective of the reader but also that of Leon (and those on his side), that some elements and relationships of the story isn't progressing the same as the Otome Game from when he played it in his first life.

It is also that fact that adds another element that makes this novel so addictive... that you keep on reading to see that resolution of characters overcoming their trials. You want to see Leon not act as a Mob, you want Amelia to find love and be treated as an equal, you want Olivia to be brave and speak her mind, you want Marie not to act s*upid and talk to Leon l, and so on. Again the writing is so good and the characters don't act out of character at all. It's the original story we are getting to see outside the perspective of a random guy sitting on their couch playing a game.

I'm saying right now that I won't keep reading this novel, but in no ways is it a bad one, just one I find frustrating since it's not going the way I want it to go. Which I clearly realize is biased and doesn't do the novel any good because is a decent one and okay world building and easy to follow character drives... I'm honestly just pissed that the moment Leon and Marie finally decided to sit down and talk things out about their past lives as siblings they SOMEHOW have a misunderstanding that they aren't each other's sibling even though they describe each other perfectly from a like a brother and sister would. I mean after getting to know each other in this life and knowing each other in their last lives they should be able to tell how one-sided and bias their descriptions of each other are. Like really brah this accidentally inc€st arc is just so annoying I can't. <<less
