It's quite interesting, with all the setting and a mysteries, yet the story feels incomplete.

Despite the title, she only using her block skill to live peacefully... few times only. The 'eating sweets' theme is longer than it but... I doubt it relevant?? (Or maybe I read it wrong).

The rest is very common for Japanese LN in this genre: the handsome duke came and somehow her next action reduced from 7 to 1 because it's time for cinderella plot. The story was able to maintain one of the main issue, but... more>> forget the rest. It's feels like the author rushed everything till the end.

Too bad since I think the early highlight is MC relationship to her house instead her cheating fiance and the mysterious confectionery. The early characters depiction are interesting too.

Spoiler
  • Nothing mentioned about the chance her father is a traitor, even though the neighbor country's general in her "prophecy" dream visits her father in real life. Nor their relationship even further. 'Yes. I'm his biological daughter but he doesn't care about me' and that's all. It's a chekhov's gun that was let rust under the bed. Or maybe a red herring. But a highlighted one. I really hate this one didn't get addressed.
  • And since she will be adopted (quite easily) by another family, you will think there will be a lovely family interaction.... No. Only first time meeting to shown that her new parents is understanding. Uncle never appears nor intervenes. Maybe because the 'fake curse' she used as shield.. Idk.
  • The issue in the 'prophecy' dream was never addressed. Instead, it focus in the relationship between her Earldom, her fiance's and this certain dukedom. I think it was mentioned briefly about her father's position... but he become irrelevant and you will questioning whether this ML Duke and Royal Family remember this criminal.
  • This duke's daughter character was reduced to be a mere antagonist instead the criminal father. It's a pity since she shown to struggle with how she loves MC's fiance and treated badly by the crown prince.
  • The sacred flowers that mentioned to be her downfall in the dream doesn't occur and relevant, I think? The sacred flower's confectionary is a plot item but... idk... I think it should become more important.. and I don't know it relation with the beast monster? It's like two different elements exist together but... that's it? Well, it could but.. Idk...
  • How about the neighbor's country invasion? Is this related to the beast monster? I think it was mentioned briefly but it's too briefly for me to realize lol Anyway it seems because something changed thus a different outcome.
  • I really like early depiction of Michaela and Albert. This Albert fianceis.. he doesn't act like a fool. He clearly knew that marrying his ex-fiancee
is impossible and favor the advantages by marrying MC... but his ignorance, Michaela's attempt to antagonized MC... are too brief to make impact. And somehow he realized it too soon and Michaela who latter knew that this guy is unreliable decided to forgives him?? And they have happy end despite become commoners?? After both agree to assassinated MC??
  • And what the hell with the Holy King plot point?? Is this what we called deus ex machina humans??? The ML's tragic background was told so sudden and kind of irrelevant, it confused me because how badly it incorporated in the story.
[collapse]

In other words, many things happen and has interesting value as plot point but author either decided to skip it or tell it instead show and many things looks connected yet disconnect at the same time and I found it "what's the point???".

It still enjoyable for you who loves "tragic 'villainess' found her happiness" kind of story. <<less
