I can't read it further... Eventhough I really like this genre and carve any LN or comic with similar atmosphere, this LN is way too 2D. The heroine is an OP Mary Sue chara and everyone just gone loving her whatever she said or did. She did violent things like kicking and hitting a prince, eventhough a stupid one and the Queen doesn't even mind. The way she nags... I reminded of how old ladies would nag others non stop and that was how I feel about FL. And not... more>> to mention three high ranking veteran ninjas devoted themselves to her just because she suspected them to be one. The charas around her just surrounding her like she's a goddess by anything she said or did.

I feel like this story was like a highway with nothing along the way. No building, trees, even rocks. It's just going straight the way what FL wanted.

The story is truly lighthearted and full of romance with reverse harem. FL would be fought over with every charas available. I might be continue it someday. Might be. <<less

I love it. It's cute. It's really, really bad, but it's cute.

There's no depth. The characters, the world, the plot... 2D all the way. The chapters are short and if there were kaching sound effects every time she charmed another character, it would sound like you'd just won the jackpot at the nickel slots. It's not that the development is shallow, more like it's on fast forward, with the author assuming the reader is a veteran of 10, 000 villainess reborn novels.

And I think that's what I like about it.... more>> Not that I wouldn't read a more developed 10, 001st villainess novel as well, but when I'm craving a moment of reverse harem sweetness with no drama, and I have all the previous novels to draw from for more mental context, this is a perfect, tiny treat. <<less

I truly despise the fact that I am enjoying this story.

Reasons as to why I hate it...

its vague = no world building, characters are 2D, MC is a Mary Sue who poops magic rainbows that baptises the lackluster world ... more>>
Spoiler

ridding it of its vague illness and aphrodisiac and charm spells (nullifying it to prevent manipulative women from making sly moves on her brothers, literally). Then there is the MC's hypocritical views contradicted by her actions (constantly disregarding the status of the prince, e.g. calling him stupid in front people/their peers for disregarding her commoner friend) as well as her super sonic speed in mastering skills with no no explanation as to why, WTF?!?

[collapse]

However I truly like this story for its romance. I'm not a fan of harems, no matter what kind. I'm a romance purist, in terms of 'leave no man/woman behind' sort of thing, everyone deserves their own HEA. I'm not kidding, you'll hate this story till you reach the romance subplot which evolves into the main story. This is the saving grace, thank god I was on the right ship from the beginning, because despite the story being tagged as a reverse harem, its infact NOT, because she will obviously end up with that one person
Spoiler

The King’s Younger Brother, Broudo

[collapse]
. Its called a reverse harem because she attains the ikemen's respect and love (obviously not romantically, with the exception of one), so for those who are put off by that tag, DON'T BE. The romance is FLUFF, it so SUDDEN that you are trapped in its soft fluffy warmth with no chance of retreat. This will come as a surprise to many because the first half of the story is sh*t, especially if you are not a noob to the reincarnated/transmigrated otome game villainess noble girls trope.

Its a SURPRISINGLY good read to lighten your spirit after reading angst or triggering novels. <<less

Doesn't make any sense.

Why does she assume she's in a light novel if she never read a story about herself?

Why does she assume her brothers are capture targets and that she will be banished if, again, she never read a story about herself?

Why does she say that ninjas don't exist but then knows there's an intelligence organization named ninja... if she didn't read a story about herself?

Why does she assume that her servants are ninjas? Why do they easily admit that they are?

I can't even get past the second chapter.

It’s not the worst story ever but it’s not much as a stand out either. To put it bluntly, it’s very much like death flag otome. The MC isn’t as oblivious as Katarina, but inspires the same “catch em all” feel with all the boys and girls. There is a notable difference that everyone gets paired up, and that the original protagonist of the otome game is also a reincarnation. While there are some interesting plot points that caught my attention, Cardinal’s skill set was a little too over the... more>> top to me. Extreme speed, genjutsu, martial arts, assassination techs, medical research, medicine creation, cooking, etc etc. She learns this all at an extremely young age, and while not completely touched upon, it’s brought up quite a lot throughout the story.

Minor spoiler, but the most interesting plot point would be the heroine (1st game) vs the hero (2nd game) show down side story.

overall; it’s an ok read if you’re looking for something extremely light hearted. It’s not a bad story but it’s also not one I would reach for again afterwards. <<less

... if I must give it my impression, then this novel is truly a brain-dead one. So much it made me dazed while sniggering for no reason. Despite being ridiculously ridiculous (?) it still made me chuckled?? How?!

Despite the simplicity of the story, I'm actually conflicted about whether I should give it a 3 stars or 5 stars. I mean, supposedly it's not enough for me to give it a 5, yet I really enjoy reading it so I thought it should be fine? Ugh, let's just give it a... more>> 4 then.

—edit:

Finished reading it, and I have no regret. The beginning was too quite simple, but in the end, IT'S ALL ABOUT FLUFF!! PRAISE THE FLUFFY ROMANCE!!!

rating upgraded to 5 stars. Man, I feel so healed. <<less

I don't know whether the author themselves decided to stop this novel at 48 chapters, or it had to end because this novel was axed. But if it was due to it being it was axed, I could see why it ended at where it did. I'll try keep this short since my normal reviews would be long as heck... and just really there isn't much to say about this novel. Also, just to avoid any confusion, I'm going to refer to Cardinal as the "heroine" here.

Pros:

    • Comedy
    • Overpowered characters
    • Romance
Cons:

    • No explanations whatsoever. Either about the world or about certain story events.
    • No world building
    • Rushed story events
    • Some genres in the story were hardly properly used. (Like the school life, or even heck the actual "fantasy" genre).
    • Weird names for some of the characters. (I mean seriously, what kind of parent names a girl "Cardinal"?)
    • Heroine's "personality" showcase
For example, a prime example of one of the cons are...

Spoiler

During the middle of the novel, a new female character that is a close family friend to the heroine is introduced to the story. How she was introduced was that her entire family of nobles were killed by a perp, where she herself was this close to being raped by that same perp, until heroine's family stepped in. Funniest thing is, not even once the story mentioned as to why her family was targeted to be murdered, as the story progressed to focusing on the "Tales of the OP Heroine".

[collapse]

As a fantasy genre fan, I hardly even realized that this world was one of many that held magic - due to the fact that it was hardly ever mentioned or even used at all by the characters. This was a huge setback. Another large setback of this novel was the heroine's "personality". I don't really care if she is the dense kind when it comes to romance, since it's not the first time isekai troupes has given that to us. But what really annoyed me was how freaking dense she was when it came to her reincarnation and the game's other reincarnated characters. I'll put this next part in spoilers again just in case.

Spoiler

There were many times where the game's other reincarnated characters mentioned right in front of Cardinal, about stuff like capture targets and the character's endings, but the heroine is so~ hella dense to not even realize then and there that there are other fellow reincarnated person right in front of her. I mean seriously, this just went to show how stupid and low of a character I've come across while reading LNs/WNs. I never played otome games before either when I first started reading this genre, but if Cadinal knows what LNs and "villains" are, I'm pretty sure that a normal sane person would've noticed that overhearing "but Cardinal was supposed to be a villain in the story that was supposed to be X or something!".

[collapse]

Another aspect of this novel I found to be really annoying was that...

Spoiler

... for some reason everyone around her is

forced to

accept Cardinal's rather... oddly giddy and "cuteness is life!" personality as the new norm. Thus making all other characters appear to have no coherent opinions and thoughts of their own, thus blindly believing Cardinal's way to be their own way.

[collapse]

So while I did like the author's meagre attempt to follow the route of highlighting the heroine's personality more as supposed to having the villainess-type character being manipulated by the otome game's events... the author did this and everything about the story entirely wrong.

Final Statements/Summary:

    • Translations - Decent, but there are obvious grammar mistakes made here and there
    • Story - Terrible and severely shallow with no depths whatsoever
    • Characters - Umm.... they're faithful mindslaves to the villainess/heroine?
    • Would I recommend? - No. Even if this is only a short 50 chapter read, everything I've stated above are the reasons why I would not recommend this novel.
    • Then what would I recommend instead? - "An Otome Game's Burikko Villainess Turned into a Magic Otaku". Everything bad I've said about this novel, this otome novel did correctly.
... Why did I do this last part in bullet points I wonder?... Well, I'm now finally done writing a review of this novel.

It's not great *jazzhands* but it's ok?

MC is Mary Sue and is pretty OP, from ninja skills, cooking and medicinal skills, it's pretty unreasonable. But these traits were never abused to reach unprecendented heights so I think it's bearable enough.

Male Lead and side leads

Spoiler

What I actually like about the side male leads that don't get MC is that they have another girl they are interested in and in the end evrything wraps up nicely

[collapse]

Plot

Spoiler

nothing much to say, there is no danger or villan, maybe the Protaganist was abit of a villan but it was completely replaced by the MC because Protag got swooned over by cuteness

[collapse]

Overall it's a solid 3, would I read it again? No. But did I waste my time reading? No.

If your're into light hearted stories than this is for you, but actual plot? Eeeh not too much <<less

My honest opinion will be that its great as a stress reliever. Very very light read and you might need to ignore all the various loopholes and cliched (a bit immature at times) writing. Its sweet, bubbly and funny (again if you are able to ignore loopholes and have a taste for lame jokes). The MC is not reckless (level-headed) and OP... dense too.

If you're into politics, really good plots or anything serious then its really not for you.

If you'r not into older guy minor female its not for you.

If... more>> you're not into yandere (not really that excessive though) male lead then its not for you.

I'm giving a five purely because I'm very stressed and vexed that I can't find anything to read for a long while now (been reading the same novels again and again in the mean while). This story came without an impulsive MC (likes to cause trouble everywhere, stupid, triangle love or harem: angsty) and made me smile and laugh while reading, hence, the five.

Overall, its a simple story with cliched ending and you need to read it like you're reading your first novel. <<less

It's a good light read with a lot of plot holes and is a little bit hard to understand. Sometimes the author just throws in stuff at random.

Spoiler

for and example, the author introduced a knight and kept him in the story for like 3 chapters and then he just disappeared. Also, the author hints at the MC older brother liking the heroine but then all of a sudden the stupid prince gets the girl and the brother ends up with this random girl the author throws in the middle. Like, sure maybe I was misunderstanding things with the big brother and the heroine but still. To throw this random girl and guy in the story without any warning kinda bothered me. But I still liked the story.

Not the worst but still horrible. MC is way too lighthearted and cliche. However the worst is that the topic and development jump all over the place or is skipped in total.

Not the greatest writing. It feels jumpy and lack of disposition make it hard to falow. There are a lot of one sentence emotions but it's hard to understand why people feel it. Nothing is explained and author expect you to know it to make sense of the story. To think anyone would think an ambiguous conversation between a 10 years old girl and a 20 years old man, which ended with the 20 years old blushing is a good idea #$%@&.

Uhh I'm not good at writing comment. But if you love the story with a dense villainess that deviate from the original story with happy ending for all (even the heroine will be her best friend) and light romance then you must read this story. Even if in the synopsis there will be cruel depictions in the story but for me it's not too dark. Well we reader have different opinions but you can try to read first before losing interest just because you don't like dark story or cruel... more>> depictions. <<less

It really makes no sense at all at times. There is no depth in the characters and the plot is like swiss cheese- hole ridden. The translation itself though is good quality and it's quite amusing to read about her denseness. Those are really the only reasons I gave 3 stars.

i like it and I thinks it's very cute but like a review I read, it is cliche. I also think the MC is too perfect, a normal person needs to have flaws but she is smart (from her previous life so it's understandable), great at magic, can cook better than most chefs (also a little understandable), and she is the best at fighting also as good as a ninja which is unreasonable as she already can do so much.

she is also really nice and everyone likes her so it's... more>> sweet but on top of that she can do everything and can do no wrong, im not at the end yet but I hope she becomes more human. <<less

It had its flaws which is why I gave it a 3 story could have been a lot more descriptive and shifted around a lot that being said If it was based purely on enjoyment I would have rated it much higher because it was still an enjoyable read to spite being far from perfect.

I love this novel. The interactions between all the characters is so heartwarming and cute.

I love how the MC was so smart and talented, but at the same time so dense. It was amazing how everyone just flocked around her. Although there weren't a ton of romantic scenes, it was still a very sweet novel.

Bakarina-sama zwei is all you need to know to love our lovable villainess.

Though other than that, I have to say that details are sparse and generally skipped, making you wonder if the author had ever touched upon it once before. Events just suddenly happen, characters' feelings abruptly change for no given reason or are never expanded upon.
