Betrayed by his lover and abandoned by mankind, the race he saved, Rohen gave up all hopes in life.

Returning to the past, he laid down his sword and allowed the world to perish as he stood in the side. Just as man turned his back on him, he, too, will do the same.

This was his pledge.

But, his view changes little by little when he meets a girl wielding the same scars as him.

She changes him… heals his broken scar without notice.

Looking at Rohen, his body torn and mangled, she burst into tears and asked, “Why… why didn’t you run away?”

He heard her sweet voice. It calmed him. She protected him.

Rohen laughed. “Because you’re here.”

TL;DR at end

Ok, I get that this only has two chapters so it's a bit premature to write a review. But I'm doing this in hopes of someone picking this up.

This novel looks like it has some serious potential. Sure, it starts off with a typical "betrayed by those you hold dear" trope that's oh so common on this site but, from what I've read on other sites, it's got a more heartwarming tone to it. Without going into too many spoilers, it looks like instead of going on a... more>> post-betrayal killing spree that is so common in these types of novels, the protagonist has some other plans in mind, which I'm entirely down for. You can only re-read the same but different revenge novels so many times.

And not only does the novel itself show potential, but from what I can see from these first two chapters, the author's ability to make his world an interesting place isn't terrible either. And it's not like exposition is being shot down your throat with a fire hose. Instead, it's more like the author is giving you bite-sized chunks of lore in between the storytelling. However, only having two chapters really hurts a story like this and makes it impossible to really tell the true depth of these characters and how great the storytelling actually is.

Of course, there are only two chapters. Which is why I didn't give it five stars. And it's also why I may come back to change my review in the future. If by some grace of God someone picks this up and it turns out to be terrible, I'll change my review to reflect that. But I doubt that'll be necessary.

TL;DR: just read it, it's two chapters long and at most, you'll lose 5 minutes of your day. The writings good, so your brain won't rot out of its skull. <<less
