From a young age, Jian Cenyu was known for being the most outstanding girl in her elite social circle. With an air of cool, noble elegance, she stole Sang Shi’an’s title of campus belle the moment the semester began, capturing the hearts of countless innocent students.

She is Sang Shi’an’s roommate, and also the person Sang Shi’an detests most.

One day, Sang Shi’an accidentally discovered Jian Cenyu’s browser history of l**bian adult films. At the same time, she learned that the Jian family was arranging a marriage for Jian Cenyu with a promising, wealthy, and considerate partner, who happened to be Sang Shi’an’s own brother.

The mere thought of having to call Jian Cenyu “sister-in-law” for decades to come was enough to make Sang Shi’an decide on a course of action: she would seduce Jian Cenyu, pull her down from her pedestal, and then ruthlessly expose her sexuality. She absolutely could not let her become her sister-in-law.

The moment her friend request was accepted, Sang Shi’an changed into a hip-length cat-girl costume. With her legs slightly parted, she knelt before her phone and wagged her tail for Jian Cenyu, purring, “Jiejie, I like you so much. I want you to ravage me all night long.”

The second she sent the message, Sang Shi’an was filled with regret. Just as she was about to recall the video, she saw that the notoriously aloof Jian Cenyu had sent her a reply:

[Pull your clothes down a bit. Let’s see your chest first.]

Sang Shi’an believed her performance was flawless.

One day, she was a scantily clad damsel in distress; the next, a holy elf maiden with a tail that would burn if left untouched. She had Jian Cenyu completely wrapped around her finger, to the point that the love-struck girl even rejected the marriage alliance with her brother.

With her mission seemingly accomplished, Sang Shi’an logged onto her alternate account that night, broke up with her, and then blocked her in one smooth motion.

But less than two hours later, a knock sounded on her door.

Sang Shi’an’s pupils constricted as she immediately tried to slam the door shut.

But Jian Cenyu was faster, wedging herself inside. Her cool fingertips gently caressed Sang Shi’an’s face as she whispered:

“What are you hiding from, kitty?”

“Been out drinking again?”

“Do I have to lock you up to make you behave?”

Sang Shi’an: It’s over…

I liked it, very entertaining, no drama at all. I was reading this at work which was hard since theres a lot of steamy scenes. Sometimes it was a bit too descriptive I wonder how they were able to avoid getting censored compared to other novels that have to go all poetic when doing the deed.

I thought it was a rival-to-lovers story but it was just Sang Shi'an sulking her jiejie went abroad to study without letting her know.

One thing I hated about Jian Cenyu's family:

The grandpa dying too early. C'mon give me revenge. That old man spoiled rotten his grandson and once his real side was discovered, he gets mad at Jian Cenyu and her dad to then pass away. I wanted to see his ass in jail or deeply regretting being so dumb. He almost gave away the entire company.

Spoiler

A relationship-focused one-sided enemies to lovers story, with a typical plotline. The premise of the "enemies" dynamic is incredibly petty with the MC holding a one sided grudge for 4 years that lasts until adulthood and strongly avoiding contact with the FL because FL didn't or couldn't let MC know about a forced departure overseas. MC continues to maintain a stubborn streak, refusing to associate herself with FL publicly but behind the scenes is constant talking about FL with her friends, or playing these online games to make FL fall in love with an online persona of MC. The drama between FL/MC getting together felt forced and awkwardly contrived with MC's constant preconceptions and misunderstandings.

There was potential for a strong story however the characters, how the story was written and paced was not for me. <<less

8/10 (Strong but not top tier)

A fairly straightforward but decently well executed business/modern book. The premise is a bit inaccurately described, and the enemies to lovers angle is, while present, not as straightforward or strong as the description might lead one to believe. The chemistry between the FLs is pretty decent, and the arcs and dynamic changes that their relationship undergoes feel interesting and reasonable for the characters. In general, the story was executed well, making aspects like the business plot that risked being a bit too standard flow... more>> well. This also applies to elements such as side characters, which never really evolved into plot focuses but were well tailored to the screentime the story gave them.

Worth pointing out since so many stories get it wrong, the forced separation plot was done fairly well in this one. While it stems from an external conflict, the plot felt like it naturally led up to the point, it wasn't dragged out beyond what the state of the relationship would support, it didn't result/stem from any weird emotional/mindset shifts from either of the FLs, and the continuation of the story from that point on felt natural. It was also justified plot-wise by the overseas portion of the plot, as well as seeing the ways that the FLs changed and remained the same.
