Dang, this is so good. One of the only series that has almost 2k chapters, and I got through it all (the other being "Quick Transmigration: The Second Female Lead is Poisonous", another series that has a similar feel to this one with a hot yandere male lead and a strong but crazy main character).

Since this is QT, it has a bunch of medium length stories where Yange, an ancient tree demon, has to follow the wishes of the body she's taken over to right the wrongs in their life.... more>> She's accompanied by Chicken, an ancient bird demon, as her System companion. Chicken is hilarious, his joking around and back and forth with Yange made me laugh a lot. He is lazy, constantly h**ny and forever alone, and gives terrible advice as well as critiquing the men's physiques and sexytime prowess. Both he and Yange, due to being ancient demons, have very weird brain circuits and values.

During Yange's missions, she will either meet The Mighty One ("Heaven's Darling", who is going through his own trials and tribulations in order to ascend and break through) or the Heaven Devouring Beast demon. As the story description says, the Heaven Devouring Beast wants to eat Yange (in a literal way, by swallowing her), and will try to do so if he sees her in any of the worlds. Being swallowed by the Beast results in Yange dying prematurely in her mission and returning to the System space. On the other hand, The Mighty One usually takes the form of the male lead in the story Yange transmigrates to, and will always fall for her. Due to Yange's top priority being the mission, this results in her many times unintentionally or intentionally abusing The Mighty One and causing him heartbreak and blackening. It can be both hilarious and heartbreaking. (Being able to hear Yange and the Chicken's thoughts and commentary during the drama can be quite hilarious).

Yange is a badass, and is very VERY cold and calculating. Her top priority in every world is always first and foremost "respecting and fulfilling the wishes of the host body". The only thing that might trump that is Chicken's wellbeing, as he is her oldest and dearest friend. Depending on the story arc, sometimes I felt she was a bit too cold blooded, and I felt really sorry for the male lead. I understood the logic behind it (Yange will always put the host's wishes first, and is an ancient tree demon that doesn't put a lot of value on love or sentimentality), but I just felt really bad for him sometimes. The chemistry between Yange and the male lead is almost always explosive - lots of hilarious moments, lots of hot moments, and by the end I just want them to be happy together.

As for the Heaven Devouring Beast,
Spoiler

in the beginning, he only wants to eat Yange to absorb her spiritual energy, because she smells delicious and tastes delicious. Yange, on the other hand, is terrified of him, because he's so much stronger than her and she can't win against him. The turning point for their relationship is when she meets a young version of him (due to timey wimey stuff) in a world where he lets her live due to her being unpalatable at the moment, so he keeps her around until he can eat her. He loses his memories when he levels up, and during this time she takes the opportunity to uh... do the dirty with him. He gets addicted to this kind of "eating", and makes her his wife, and basically falls head over heels for her and spoils her rotten. She also starts developing slightly more complex feelings about him. I personally loved their romance and relationship. It was incredibly hot and animalistic. It's a mix of him being very gruff and monstrous (lots of licking and ambiguous references to "eating") and it's all very romantic in a weird way. Especially the arc later on where she married him and had 2 babies with him, their married life was so unorthodox and cute and fluffy! Unfortunately, he has to eat her at the end of each arc they're in together. By the end, you'll realize that he is actually in love with her, and is very sad when he eats her before she dies, and you'll get the feeling that he has his reasons for doing so. I actually prefer him and Yange over The Almighty One. Because they're both demonic and having weird brain circuits, they seem to achieve a more harmonious life together.

Of course, by the end,
Spoiler

you'll find out that both the Heaven Devouring Beast and The Almighty One are parts of the same person. Which probably shouldn't be much of a surprise, considering that they usually don't show up at the same time, and way later on when they do, they are compelled to kill each other, as "there can only be one." For the ending, I think it's the weakest part of this story. Of course, because I'm MTLing, the ending does get quite complex and convoluted, so I'm sure I missed some details, but it seemed a bit rushed, and had a very meloncholy feel to it. It went from being a hilarious story to a tearjerker with an open ending. So basically, what I got from it was that The Mighty One and Chicken were Phoenix twins born from the queen, but the Mighty One was born without a Phoenix Bone, and instead was born holding a magical tree (Yange). Because he was born abnormal, he got thrown into a flaming torture pit to die, but didn't, and the only thing keeping him going was talking to Yange. She eventually rescues him and they escape and get married. Because Yange grew up in Phoenix valley, she wanted to return there. They go, and she forms a friendship with Chicken. The queen tries to kill The Mighty One again, so he goes beserk and burns down everyone in Phoenix valley. Yange rescues Chicken who is almost dead, by putting her heart into him. The Mighty One wants to kill everything and overthrow God so Yange can be God. She refuses, and takes out their unborn baby (turns out she was pregnant and he didn't know), throws the baby to him, then jumps into the Chaotic System Space with Chicken. She loses her memories, and lives with Chicken for thousands of years. The Mighty One, in order to resurrect their baby, has to absorb lots of spiritual energy to give their baby. So he split his soul (one soul being the Heaven Devouring Beast, who slowly lost memories of Yange and only wants to devour energy to give their baby). By the end, Yange is back to being a tree that remembers everything, but realizes that the original form of her husband is dead. Chicken tries to convince her that she can still have happiness with a different version of him, and to stop overthinking things. Their son waters her tree roots every day, while the soul fragment of The Mighty One goes yandere and asks her why she can't accept him. It's left ambiguous if they ever end up together, although The Mighty One says he'll always wait for her. It's a happy ending for Chicken, who makes his way back to his wife (an evil black dragon who fell for him) and daughter

. I feel like it was just a bit rushed, and I wish there was more closure. It felt like the author just got tired and decided to input a bunch of backstory suddenly to end it. Other than that though, this series is so worth it. Read it!! <<less

I’m confused why people are rating it so low when there are only 7 chapters?

This novel isn’t bad at all, it’s just starting out so you wouldn’t know what you’re jumping into yet. From what I read, the MC is a tree spirit trying to be able to move to different places instead of being stuck at one place as a tree. She helps regretful spirits solve their regrets to gather enough energy. (Just typical trope: a human girl who was wronged by her bf and the girl he cheated... more>> with. She takes over the body, etc.) The thing is, she doesn’t live out the life of the girl but solves the situation in a chapter or two. There’s also this guy stalking her trying to eat her, literally. Not like flesh but I think he’s trying to eat her spirit? Or the energy that she’s gathering. Then she gets a system so she can world hop to worlds where that guy appears and try to figure him out.
This is my interpretation. The beginning made me a bit confused. Still not a bad read. ??‍♀️ <<less

There seems to be a lot of s*xual violence that occurs to the hosts that the MC inhabits. So this is just a trigger warning for readers.

Pros:

  • ML is not in every world she hops into
  • Variety in dealing with the ML (eg. Sometimes will reject him, accept him, or barely even interact with him). I think this makes the story more interesting and unpredictable. I also prefer it when she rejects the ML when he acts like a piece of sh*t in an arc. She puts her hosts' wishes first before the ML.
  • Unconventional MC that doesn't have normal people's values. Does not fall in love with someone just because they are hot. Not that emotional. She can boink people without feelings attached. She can also be dominant
Cons:

  • Some arcs are triggering
  • Some arcs are a bit weak when it comes to world building and relationships of the host. There can be many time skips
  • I personally don't like the ML in any of the timelines that I've read. He's too entitled. This is the main reason why I'm dropping the novel. He's the EXACT same type of person in every world. Normally, in other the novels, the ML would be slightly different in each world due to the new identity and experiences he has as a person of the world. But in this novel, he is always the same regardless if he's born as poor person or a king. In addition, I hate entitled people and characters. There's a difference between "I want her love" and "I deserve her love". I don't mind reading about yanderes, just not entitled yanderes. Especially since they might imprison or assault the FL. For example, I hate when the ML has forced the FL to do something, then expected her love, then has the AUDACITY to act like a victim when he doesn't receive it.
I also personally prefer... more>> the Devouring Beast over the Mighty One. <<less

I think in quick transmigration novels I would compare this to between "Boss-Gege Excessive Spoiling" to "Side Character Transmigration: The Final Boss is No Joke". The quality of the story arcs are comparable, although Boss-Gege is obviously the fluffiest of the three. I haven't finished MTL-ing this novel yet, but I would rate this closer to Final Boss is no Joke. If you're not familiar with these stories, I'd said briefly (non-spoiler) that this novel has quality story arcs with a good over arching mystery that threads through. This story... more>> is mature, but not explicitly smutty. But be wary of trigger warnings plot lines, as most of the arcs seems to revolve around a lot of angst and tragedy. Complete the first arc will give you a good idea to what you're heading for. Although I shed a lot of tears, there is a balance of fluffiness and I find myself binging through 600+ chapters.
*Heading into spoilers ahead. *
Spoiler

Yan Ge may come off cold hearted, but I enjoy her objectivity and her rationality. She's a thousands year old tree so she isn't easily moved by human emotions when she's not within a host. I also kind of enjoy her unintentionally abusing these male leads. Usually it's the men who causes all the heart ache, it's kind of nice to see the twist that it's the female loving and leaving them.

I'm 600+ chapters in and even I'm not sure yet who is the Male Lead. Yan Ge seems to be skipping through time as she transmigrated and I have a theory she has accidentally caused something to the Male Lead and what happened to her. I may come back to edit this after I finished the novel.

I want to rate it 4.5, but since half stars are not a thing and this novel has a weirdly low rating, I decided to rate it 5 stars.

Damn this is so f*cking angsty, but also so good T-T

The first arc alone... that ending is so sad T-T

... more>> It has an interesting premise and the system is explained pretty well.

I'm excited for future updates :)

My only qualm is that the MC doesn't seem to care about the ML at all. She worries over petty and s*upid things too. But maybe the plot will be like Miao Miao Miao's where the MC will get some character development and finally come to understand the human thought process, or at least the MC's feelings for her.

Well, it's not like the ML (from the first arc) is much better, he's an as*hole for a while. I'm excited to see how their relationship will develop!

Will he remember his past life? <<less

In my opinion, the MC is quick and quite intelligent in her plans to capture the ML. Translation is good and the translator's comments are always appreciated >.<. I have high hopes for the story. So far is interesting and funny~

Okay, I’ve read far enough, I can’t take it anymore.

i don’t know if it was me that skipped the tragedy tag (because I never read books like that) but I ended up reading it anyway.

I’m going to explain why I give it 2 stars after telling you the good parts.

... more>> the author expresses the characters really well. Purely a**holes, purely trees, purely demons. You can see that these have their own Desires and what not that could be associated with their nature.

for example; swallowing beast’s stoic nature, fox’s s**tty nature, the tree’s aesthetic for green and all that.

you can see that the author thought the story out well.

but the author doesn’t like happiness at all. They want extreme tears from the readers. Extreme!!!! They are obsessed with horrible characters, horrible twists and turns and horrible endings. (Horrible in an assholic way)

a tragedy works in a way that you’re supposed to fall in love with the characters then pain for their pain- right!
But all the way to 700 chapters and I’m not emotionally invested in any character.

believe me! When the author wrote a dog blood arc, I think she was trying to really twist the reader’s emotions but- my!! I had no ripples. I was even waiting for the MC to destroy the body she went into so that the men can feel bad and we call it an end.

the characters are horrible honestly- like the men- they are shitty.

there is a lot of r*pe- a lot- A LOT! It gets to a point where even if you were slightly looking forward to them getting together, you will hate the moment they get together. Because he will most likely r*pe her.

also, I don’t understand why the character has to unreasonably sleep with either of the two guys in every arc. She can choose an alternate path, why does she had to sleep? To increase word count?

at the end of the day, the story isn’t well put together for me.

i like that the MC won’t necessarily fall for those men, because they are real tr*sh- the kind that you wouldn’t pick up, not even as a good citizen of your state.

But I really wish the author could separate work an pleasure in arcs where it isn’t necessary to interact with the two men.

like- in every arc- she unnecessarily attaches herself to these men, they violate her, then she dies to leave them in pain. And s*upidly asks when she gets to the system space, “did the overlord blacken!” I-

the MC is unreasonable in everything she does, her unpredictability should be refreshing but after 700 chapters with no character development, it just turns into s*upidity.

if she put in an effort in making sure he didn’t blacken, at least don’t make unreasonable decisions that could catalyst his blackening, or at least not die before him, then maybe the book would be better.
If she really did focus on her mission goal and ignored the men instead of entangling with them, that would be way better.

people say that she’s clear headed and intelligent- no, she’s not- she just knows how to make the worst decisions. I don’t know how her system hasn’t been destroyed for failing missions.

I don’t recommend it especially if you want to read all the chapters.

i recommend it if you want to see something a bit different, a bit annoying and something that won’t get you invested in the characters.

so now, even at the end of the book, the author doesn’t have the decency to end it properly, the ending is f*cking open- bish!

spoiler concerning who the ML is

Spoiler

it’s the sky swallowing beast. You can see that he is still an as*hole but he is a better as*hole than the almighty overlord in most arcs. Also in every arc where the two men are present, the sky swallowing beast always has a more powerful status.

[collapse]

That’s all from me. <<less

MTLed it some more for some reason.

Idk, it just felt so strange sometimes. I like a casual host, but sometimes the story was weird or storytelling felt iffy. Also confused about MLs, seems to be two? Or two sides of one? Idk, it's kinda weird.

This story is funny and silly I. The first 1k-ish and start to get serious after the 1k chapter.
there are plot (many sub plot) in this story. You need to read till near the end to catch the connection that the author is trying to make. You can’t judge a 2k-ish novel by reading just first 100-200 chapters.

if you don’t like open ending, please avoid this. I feel really bad with the ending, it’s not bad, just not my taste. But it fit Yan Ge character. It definitely something... more>> she would do (after she got back her heart). <<less

MC and her friend bickering is funny. But, I don't know why, I can't persist until the end. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd world end in BE, and I always like that kind of world hopping + it has cultivation world background (MC is a tree demon), and I also dont mind reading a long chapter (ex : antagonist are very well behaved today). As long as the chapter is not repetitive, MC has a steady character development, and no unnecessary world arc

But this novel :

- Each arc are so... more>> long, and the development is not as heartbreaking and dog blooded as I expected. There's nothing surprising about the world plot line imo

- MC character development are as slow as snail, and I don't even know whether she will have character development or not

The only good thing about this novel is the translator. The translation quality are top notch

so, , for me, it is 3, 9 / 10 <<less
