This premise is clearly a disaster waiting to happen and yet it leads to an oddly sweet romance with a satisfying backstory. It's also a story about rage.

Our MC wants revenge on her cheating boyfriend and spends the majority of the story trying to figure out exactly what the perfect revenge is. Is it cheating with his friend? Should she confront him in the act? Should she let him know she's had an affair and that she alone is the cheater? What would hurt him more? The thing I appreciate... more>> about this story is she finally ends it all when she realizes she's hurting someone she cares about more than her worthless boyfriend.

The ML has hidden depths that the author does a good job showing without explaining why until the very end.

The MC's choices may turn you off if you have very strict feelings about cheating. However, I think most people can relate to her pain and the sense of achievement she gets by acting on her desire to inflict that pain on the one who hurt her.

Its an oddly happy story. <<less

I have to say I was really frustrated with MC dragging her breakup for so long. I really didn't like that. I would never act like a b**** and a cheater, she just showed the person that cheated first that she's the same kind of low life. I would break up with the guy while letting him know it's 100% bcz of his cheating, so he can learn a lesson and learn the consequences of his actions. But if it went her way, he would only go into the... more>> next relationship thinking girls are also cheaters anyway, and do the same thing again.

And to be honest, the author isn't really good at creating realistic characters. Besides the fact that MC's ex-boyfriend cheated on her, he was spoiling her with everything else and always accepted when she gave excuses not to sleep with him. For me it doesn't make much sense to be that crazy about your gf, but cheat on her, not be able to sleep with her, but ask her to marry you. For me, this character is too conflicting and just says the author doesn't understand much human psychology.

The 2nd character that doesn't make much sense is the Male Lead. He was supposed to love MC for years, but he went along with his friend cheating on her. Whenever the ex went out with the ML, he would always bring his side kick and sleep with her. The ML knew and yet never told MC anything, even tho he told her later he only remained friends with her ex for her. And when MC suggested to sleep with ML at the beginning, he even said "how could I sleep with my bro's girl?". So yeah, lots of nonsense.

It was funny tho how her ex and his side kick never got a name given in this short story <<less

This story was about a sc*m boyfriend who cheated on equally sc*m MC with one of their mutual friend. MC, instead of breaking up elegantly with her boyfriend, chose to cheat on him too with one of his friend who later would be our ML.

I really didn't know what MC was thinking. She clearly didn't love her boyfriend anymore but she dragged breaking up with him until he proposed to her. Meanwhile, MC kept maintaining her FWB relationship with ML without any regard of ML's feeling. I blamed MC for... more>> that. She one-sidedly assumed that ML was a player so she always played with ML without any burden, unconsciously hurting him in the process.

Okay, enough ranting. Now about the sm*t scene: it wasn't very detailed but it was still quite hot. <<less

Almost everything has been said already, but I think what is also very, very important is the fact that her s*x life with her ex is absolutely unsatisfying, without her even discovering it. Her ex is self centered, hasn't any idea that he is a failure in bed, cannot satisfy her and is even so bold to claim she were frigid. In his self denial he then tries it with another woman, only to discover that she is faking it.... more>>

During the scene, where they can be heard across the wall, he clearly states that he is aware of it. I think that's probably the reason, why he breaks up with Little bit*h and wants to marry the FL later. I wonder if he recognizes his hubris after discovering that it was in fact his former girlfriend who he thought was so great and genuine he heard with ML.

Only after having her first or**sm with ML does the FL recognize what's wrong. I think this fact is important to judge why she cannot leave ML after what she planned to be only a one night stand in the beginning. On the other hand she cannot simply leave her ex after being with him for so long. Therefore I can totally understand and sympathize with her. <<less

If you have a problem with cheating, the synopsis clearly mentions it and the whole story revolves around the high of cheating on each other so don't read it if you have a personal problem with it.

The writing was superb and even though it's not smut the scenes were detailed enough for you to get a good blush. As mentioned earlier, the whole story revolves around NTR and details the thrill the protagonist will experience.

The people involved seem realistic enough, nobody's a innocent little lamb, so it's far off from... more>> shoujo novella/YA worlds.

I'm trying to hint at that everyone is a scum here. Cheating ex seem to have a violent streak and almost r*ped MC once and she's scared enough to lock doors. Talking about red flags. The partner he's cheating with is a friend of theirs and she's the classic green tea bit*h who's got the nerve to throw a fit in front of MC and her bf for being left out. Quite brainless but otherwise not much has been said other than MC's blind trust/lack of attention to her bf and his surrounding.

MC is a bit*h for kicking the lover aside whenever her cheating bf is around and comes back around to the lover once the cheating bf is gone. That makes her no better than her bf.

ML has a reputation of a player and is rumoured to be a great lover. Not sure if their love will fizzle out sooner or later when they know each other better or when the honeymoon phase wears off or the thrill of cheating is gone but it ends on an note of them possibly getting together. I'm sure it'll be a mess either way.

Reason why I gave it a 5 is for the amazing translation and the details in the interactions. No flowery BS is a bonus and the frankness of their conversation. Cuts a gap in-between all the stale frigid overbearing CEO trope. It's 9 chapters worth, 1h or less content.

If I had to complain, it would be the lack of complications in MCs emotions regarding cheating, her bf and the lover and the reason to why she'd even feel guilt from cheating back when she already crossed that bit. Given, I can't expect that from mere 9 chapters. <<less

idk why but I was super intrigued by the plot. Yes the characters are all on some level of scum. But the plotlines and the twists that the author managed to put into one story just lowkey blew my mind when I first read this. It's not the best writing, I think the author could have linked some of the points back to the beginning better or had a better build up rather than only slotting them in near the end, for example:

I think it is unquestionable that everyone in this story is on some level of f-ed up, maybe dark? Definitely morally complicated. Some of the previous reviews about this novel did highlight some of the things that may be uncomfortable for others. Listing some of the f-ed up things they do:

scum bf: cheats on FL, badmouths about her to his friends behind her back while pretending to be good to her, technically lied to FL to start a relationship with her, decided to just propose to FL and dump girl he was cheating with at the drop of a hat when he realises that FL was getting distant from him

girl who bf cheated on with: knew jolly well that scum bf was dating FL but started and maintained a relationship with him, does not feel guilty about doing so at all

FL: got together with bf for a really shallow reason, cheated on scum bf as revenge, dragged out the breaking up with bf, kept going back to bf (though not emotionally) and leaves ML behind easily?

ML: enabled scum bf to cheat with girl, implied that he purposefully indirectly encouraged it so that he could get together with the FL

but if you read it as just a feel-good smut novel, it serves its purpose. And good job to the author on keeping the novel in my head for a really long time ><

Story and translation were done very well. I truly understand why the FL reacted and did what she did.. Sometimes you're just so angry and hurt that you do stuff you normally wouldn't do. She's human and her bf hurted her. At least she found someone who truly loved her. Rong shi sounds super yummy and delicious and loveable.. Wish they had their own love story.

I enjoyed this especially at the beginning (revenge is sweet after all) But..

I kinda hate how she dragged it. And the thought that it'd make more impact if the ex only know about how SHE cheated not how she KNEW he cheated. That kinda irritated me. Glad things didn't go her way and she ended up blurting it out to her ex.

I enjoyed this short story so much. Usually I would advise that make a clean break before starting a new relationship, but, heck it’s” love”, so where there’s “rational” thinking will be involved? Lol think of crime of passion. Heck, even the author doesn’t want to give the cheater any names, including FL.

Anyway, love the light smexy scenes and fluff. And I am glad with such big roundabout ways FL found her fated one.

short and sweet, the smut isn't explicit, ending was a little abrupt but it was in line with the fast pace of the story

the stuff explained at the end kinda annoyed me after I thought about it a little - why couldn't this have been said earlier?

also, the chauffeur/friend person... we never got an explanation

if you think about the first few chapters after finishing where you see his room, you see why it was decorated like that haha

overall enjoyed the quick read, esp with the smidges of revenge haha

I'm not sure why this felt slimy - I absolutely loved the bl equivalent (a tooth for a tooth). She dragged out the cheating for quite a while, and seemed very wishy washy about it. I also think falling in love with someone for their clothing seems really shallow. Anyways, not my favorite MC. Not as satisfying as bl equivalents.

The bf sucks, their whole circle of friends suck, nobody cares enough to advise their friend of their wrongdoings, instead they tolerate and create opportunities for each other to commit infidelity. A bunch of enablers. The MC felt disgusted with his bf cheating but she also became disgusting herself. Rong Shi is great but he's also a schemer, betraying his friend and deliberately setting up someone to seduce his friend so he can have his gf for himself.

I don't expect a saint but there is literally no one good in this story. They're all as bad as the other, and to think they still get a HE leaves a sour taste in my mouth. The writing also failed to explore the emotional aspects of the story. It's supposed to make the readers feel pain and empathy for the characters, but it all just became s*x until the end.

For those who liked this sort of genre, I recommend A Tooth for a Tooth. Albeit a short story, the introduction was executed fairly and characters depth was given a highlight. <<less

5 stars for showing the discomfort and pressure of a public proposal.

The rest of the story is not bad either.

Every leading role seems to be a bit scum. The boyfriend who cheated and then suspected her of cheating is a shockingly realistic development. It's heavily implied that the 'playboy' ML schemed to break up the main couple by introducing the side bit*h or at least facilitating their cheating, but it's also true that it was entirely their choice to make further developments together. MC was a bit scum because she planned to use ML from beginning to end. She also ended up stringing him along bc she didn't know he liked her and misunderstood that she would be breaking up with bf right away. Sidebit*h is a scum bc she acted righteously up until the very end.

Another reviewer said that the cheating bf proposing didn't make sense, but he didn't care for the mistress at all. He was frustrated and hurt that she may have never been attracted to 'him' and he might lose her for good. You could tell he was considering forcing her that last night, but her threat that he could break up if he didn't like her refusal stopped him. He did like her. He still cheated. His like doesn't make him redeemable.
