I went in not expecting much, but walked out smiling like a total fool. This novel is pretty hilarious & as long as you don't take it seriously, you're in for one heck of a ride. MC is a total clown while ML is out here playing chess games with him. It's entertaining to say the least; hoping more people would jump aboard on it! <<less

Ratings are tricky things. This quirky and surprisingly touching read hasn't had many reviews, and so I'm giving it a full 5* just to pull the readers in. In comparison to other books does it deserve a full five? No, but IMO, the novel and its deftly done translation really deserves wider attention. Qualifier: you're not going to get rich prose, or a lot of description. You're not going to get fully padded characters, a really strong antagonist or even a lot of world building. Also, it takes a couple... more>> of pages to get used to the rhythm of the writing--a lot of short thoughts punctuated by section breaks. However, that's where the magic happens. Because just as you're putting this book into the light fluffy read category, the writer gut punches you with some unexpected pathos, and she/he does it with just one really well written sentence set in a sequence of tight sentences, all of which initially masquerade as fluff. That ain't easy to do. Giving this read a 5, with a tip of my wine glass to the writer and the translator. The voice is awesome, and I'm rooting for the MC. <<less

Love this story so much! I really don’t see much flaws, and I immensely enjoyed the funny plot and the sweets, so entertaining. The story is short so there’s no great plot, but it’s a straightforward fluff and MC funny trains of “ denied” thoughts. And also ML “organised gayfied” and team to sweet trap MC. Thank you for your wonderful translation and footnotes. It’s really help to understand those slangs.

a comedic story in first person point of view (which is the MC). I really enjoyed it even though in some cases it might get a little embarrassing or sad in some chapters.

i like how MC is tsundere-like (he's in denial stage of gay in most chapters) and never Fails to make me laugh! His characteristic might be my favorite of all novels I've read so far

as for the ML, he's almost a basic (probably very rich) film emperor who have a god-like appearance. It's always those with weird ass titles I'd initially ignore that I would end up loving.

This one's really funny, but it's thanks to the translator for explaining all the puns, memes, and giving links to relevant stuff to help us in on the jokes.

Also I love the personalities of the MC and ML!

But seriously, the impression this gave me is that this novel is wacky! I remember laughing my ass off with Mc’s silliness. I agree it’s kind of not realistic but the joy ride it provided was well worth it. Not a 5/5 but imma give it that rating cause of the fun it gave me back then.

Some cute bits, some funny bits, some parts that just make you wanna roll your eyes. MC doesn't want to be gay and isn't comfortable with the level of attention and perceived affection from the ML. I don't think it's homophobic exactly, more like uncomfortable. Everyone around them are fans of the ML, so think he can do no wrong and that MC should be grateful for any help or attention he gets. The first 18 chapters or so had me unsure if I was going to keep reading because it had this feeling of the MC was going to get bent in spite of his feelings. However, by ch25ish, that started to change. I don't feel bad for the ML, despite the MC's attitude because 1. He is getting what he wants by all manner of trickery and 2. It did feel like he used social pressure to get the MC.

There are lots of phrases and words that are very social internet speak which can be little hard to follow, but the translator has done a great job with notations and just the general flow of the story so you can follow everything.

This isn't one I would read again or recommend, but I don't regret reading it.

Maybe it's because I have just finished another BL that I loved that I had more critical feelings towards this story.

I did feel a bit sorry for the MC early on.

The ML is pretty much perfect. Handsome, polite, well spoken, considerate. Black bellied.

The MC is funny, a bit of a salted fish, defensive and has a bit of a 5th grade syndrome feel. A massive Tsundere. He doesnt really get on with people, but it seems like its because they dont see things from his perspective or think he should be acting a certain way.

for example, the ML touched his bu*t twice so he yelled and gave him a shove. Everyone had a go at the MC and asked if ML was ok. ML said he was fine and accidentally touched MC. Everyone thought MC overreacted. So MC was thought of badly when all he did was get upset that his bu*t was groped twice.

A lighthearted and veyr funny novel! If you have a bad day then decided to read something funny then please read this!

This is in no way a gripping masterpiece but OK for a diverting weekend read. You will probably be offended by its liberal use of "gay" as a verb, but just remember the author's culture and context are likely not yours. All that being said, I really enjoyed how talented the MC is, in the hardworking with his natural inclinations kinda of way.

the MC wrote danmei but is super homophobic. Very unprofessional. Very unreasonable. I'm reading only so I can see the ML get his deserved happiness.

edit: it got cute at the end. But the start is really off putting. This should be 2.5 stars (or 3 stars for ML)

Funny, enjoyable and quick novel to read.

Although I found it a bit confusing a few times probably due to the MC long monologues. Also im not used to 1st person perspective and still prefer more common narrated stories. It kept me entertained. Liked both characters. Though it felt underdeveloped but it was really short only 40 chapters and the extra was written from MLs pov so it cleared up a few things. Either way I recommend reading it in spare time or in between longer or heavier novels.

Short, sweet, unexpectedly deep at times. Self-described as a sand sculpture novel, it's like reading a meme. It's enough if you have fun with it. (I did!)

I usually dislike the 'chapters numbered with little sections' format of some webnovels, but I was able to make it through this one. Each chapter reads well, like one whole piece.

Translation is superb and does a great job of getting the essence of the original text across.
