I love the premise and the beginning of the story started strong. But there are just a lot of things that don't make any sense and really irks me. MC wants to cut ties with her master and senior brothers? Great. She wants them to suffer like she did? Good. She doesn't do anything about this though, which is ok, let them defeat themselves and they will make themselves miserable enough, sure. But legit in her last life the green tea junior sister turned out to have a system that... more>> fed off everyones luck, and MC just decides to... leave her alone? I can understand if she wants to cut ties, but that does not mean that the problem of the parasite green tea junior sister goes away? She is still going to steal peoples luck and do what she did in her past life as well. Fair enough that MC does not care about her master and brothers, but what about the rest of the people in her sect (some of whom she is actually friends with) and the the rest of the world? She just dusts her hands and goes, welp, not my problem. And to be fair that green tea does make a mess of things but she still causes enough problems for it to be concerning. Which leads me to my second point: everyone is so s*upid. Her master and brothers are s*upid to the point that it hurts me. They are narcissistic, shallow, petty and so so s*upid, all of them get played by the green tea and I'm already 250 chapters in but some of them are still blind to the point of s*upidity. They keep bothering the MC, thinking that she is throwing a tantrum and they get mad at her when she ignores them. the eldest and 4th brother do come to realise things, but it is too late. The 2nd, 3rd and 5th are lost causes. MC's master is an enigma because he is apparently the strongest cultivator in the world but idk how you can be that powerful but also that s*upid. s*upid to the point of being malicious and so so extremely narcissistic and biased. He is set in his ways, won't listen to anyone and wont take and criticism or even tolerate anyone questioning him. There is a part in the novel when the previous life' version of his soul invades his body and they start arguing and they are both so stubborn and pig headed it was honestly painful. The master if honestly the worse because he is actually a really shitty master, doesn't teach anything but demands respect and blind obedience and will freely punish whenever his disciples do anything that annoys him. Someone should just shoot him in the head.

Besides those 2 most annoying and glaring factors, after 250 chapters, this novel has lost the plot and deviated from the title of the novel a lot. It feels like the author is trying to make the novel enter a new arc since she can;t keep using the same s*upid tropes of her senior brothers being annoying all the time, and is trying to introduce new plot lines for MC, which to be honest are boring and don;t interest me whatsoever. So this novel shall be dropped at chapter 250. <<less

For now I'm rating it 5 stars, I'm currently at c164. I thought this was a completed novel but it is not and now I'm slightly mad.

Even went to check other sites to see if my site just didn't have all the chapter and then came back to novelupdates to see that all it said in "Status in COO" was China.

Enough sidetracking, the story is quite good. The FL is strong, no romance and definitely don't expect her to reconcile with her brothers. If you want a strong FL in... more>> a cultivation world with no romance read this. <<less

Tentative rating of 4.0 as of c19

The story reads nicely which is a credit to both the original author as well as the translator.

Currently the story follows fairly basic template of a mistreated girl gaining an opportunity to change her past, which leads to various face slapping scenarios that so far have been very satisfying to read.

... more>> Sadly this also includes some annoying features like brainrotted villains who don't appear to understand basic morals they try to wield themselves against the protagonist.

What appears to set this novel apart from multitude of other similar series is that the MC does not appear to be aiming to reconcile with the scums, nor save them from their follies. I will update my review later when the story progresses to reflect whether this remains the case or if the novel ends up becoming a crematory novel. <<less

It starts strong but then somewhere in the middle (I think around ch 70-100) it just feels repetitive. Like she used her illusions to cause enemies to betray each other. Different enemies, same steps/methods. And the "brothers", even after adding something to make them feel more "regretful" didn't change or grow. That's fine, but like, there's no character growth or anything, which makes the story feel stagnant. Like the story is just going through the motions of a dialogue.

It's still interesting with new characters (there was that one sword guy... more>> who had character growth). After ch 192, there still seems to be no change, even after her background is exposed to the reader and she learns more about herself, she's still the exact same. All the characters are the exact same as in ch 70.

About 3.8 stars, round to 4 <<less

The satisfaction I got when FL left her masters and senior brothers was chef’s kiss. The novel is not short paced nor is it extremely fast, somewhere in between, that is comfortable & doesn’t bore you. Till where I have read FL will not forgive her master or brothers even if they die, which I think is nice or justified. In her last life she suffered so much so, she deserves the best things in this life. I won’t lie I’m waiting for the chapter in which her master will... more>> stab himself just to have FL call him master again.

Spoiler

There are so many options for ML like, the junior brother of sword-something sect, 3-eyed leopard, the white snake FL is currently raising, AHH my heart. They all have some sort of dynamic with FL so it’s interesting to see. Especially when the leopard guy thought that he was a male-wife because of a novel being written in a village based on him and Fl.

[collapse]

The story has its own comedy, face slapping moments, which can never bore me. I really liked that FL was ruthless in taking her revenge. She didn’t bow down once to her master after her rebirth. How satisfying it is read as the FL got her own friends, a mentor-like figure and her own people, which she could trust. I genuinely found myself waiting for the chapters every day, sometimes I would stack them so I could sort of binge read them. I would really recommend others to read the story.

Last but not the least, the translators and the author, are the best for translating. There is no problem I reading, no mix-up in the pronouns (which I find in most of the Chinese novels). The updates are daily and I love this novel a lot. I hope the novel keeps on updating without any trouble and the translators stay in great health. <<less

Really good! I will keep reading it.

Strong, intelligent, ruthless FL who's fed up with all the mistreatment from her sect brothers and master. Pretty OP. This is the story of her growth as she strives to be stronger and breaks away from her shackles. Character growth.

The villain is the youngest sect sister who's got a "system" to cheat her way to getting stronger and curry favors from others around her.

... more>> There's a deeper conspiracy and compelling main plot line that I cannot wait to read what happens!

Satisfying "face-slapping" scenes.

No romance in sight (which I'm good with).

No complaints so far!

Bcat00 is the only translator for this novel as far as I know, and they're GREAT. There are already quite a few chapters out and there are ways to subscribe to their patreon to access more chapters. Alternatively, if you wanna rough it out, there's MTL (search by the Chinese name and use Google Chrome browser to translate) but I don't recommend it cuz the pronouns are really confusing. <<less

Up to ch ~300

It's a really good cultivation novel, with a lot of different scenarios and challenges, a lot of plotlines, many interconnected, I also didn't notice plot holes, it's very well made.

The MC is really focused on the grind and I really respect her attitude, she's never frustrating. She's not focused on revenge, mostly survival and getting stronger. Only the other clowns are clinging to her.

If there's one thing I should complain about it's ... more>>
Spoiler

actually how many words are wasted on her previous brothers and master's perspective, I really don't care, just as the MC doesn't, they're literally brain dead and I have to power through chapters of their thoughts? I usually just skim, but for real... Super annoying.

These guys are so s*upid they should have died a hundred times over, let me list them:

Oldest disciple: Hypocritical guy who tries to seem self-righteous, while only causing trouble and crying in regret (did I forget to mention what a nuisance he is?)

2nd: Also a hypocrite, narcissist, idiot (actually everyone here fits this description)

3rd: don't remember, about the same as the previous one, mentality of a child

4th: idk, edgy and also caused some trouble, I think his attitude is a bit of a plot hole, he regrets because the 1st disciple told him a story of their past life? Huh? Fortunately doesn't take as much attention as the rest

5th: same as the rest

So basically, 2, 3, 5 are basically prejudiced brainwashed children who change their minds like snap. 1 and 4 are acting like they regret everything (later on), but are still useless burdens to our MC.

Problem is that they are constantly mentioned and I DONT GIVE A DUK.

The Master is like last boss stuff, this guy is crazy, I swear he has tried to kill our MC a thousand times while having weird monologues in his head about how she deserves it and he's a beautiful snow princess who sees through everything. Anyway he also kind of can access his past life memories but it's in a form of another soul, so he's just deeply prejudiced still.

Now for the white lotus sister, I mean... She's a total sociopath, doesn't care about anyone, is just jealous of everyone and wants to kill them all, her interactions are basically "It's me, not you" "Woe is me" and a lot of tears. So... Well she's also not a good villain, she's s*upid if not for the cheat system which is the true villain, mmm... She also takes up a lot of chapters uselessly being evil, her inner thoughts are just as shallow.. I think she's going to be one of the end villains which is sad.

All these previous guys have the most despicable temperaments, but they've got so many power ups and chances, obviously they're suffering this lifetime even if MC doesn't act against them on purpose, they're basically doing s*upid stuff and suffering for them. But in my opinion they should have just died by now and be done with them, they're very tiring villains. I don't even care about face slapping anymore, spare me.

[collapse]

Okay now besides my previous rant for the s*upid master and disciples, I wanted to say that the side characters are all pretty good, quite refreshing, they get their share or plot and a lot of them are very endearing.

Personal thoughts and a bit more on MC
Spoiler

For me, reincarnation plots are pretty bad, for the first one or two novels with this premise I read, they were fresh. But thinking now, look, someone dies, maybe of injustice and time goes back. Who's there to validate your feelings on this experience? Can you imagine how much hate one would carry for their previous experiences, yet to vent them in a different lifetime always feels unsatisfying, because the true preparators got away with it.

The truth of the matter is that our MC lost and they won, they had cheats, but they won. To call a second lifetime a second chance to avenge herself is false, that's impossible, because the ones to take revenge on are not there.

So that's another reason I really like the MC, she'll obviously try to kill that white lotus and the system, but not because of revenge, but because they're actually super bad and there's a bigger plot behind it all, other than personal grudges. She has already developed a detachment to her previous life's feelings, she's not that girl anymore, even if I feel endless pity for that character..

[collapse]

And that's that, I don't want to spoil on minor arc plots, I think they're well developed and worth the reading, if you're into cultivation grinding. The novel doesn't seem done yet, but the translator seems very good and consistent, so thank you very much.

edit: chapter 734

Possibly my favorite xianxia, the pace is still great after 734 ch, it never drags, but also adequately gets into detail, it also doesn't leave frustrated plot points. One thing, it's that now that I'm keeping up with the latest chapters it always leaves me waiting for the next ones because the plot is always exciting, author cooks good.

Okay let me get into spoilers, major spoilersss warning warning (basically a recap on the important points) :

Spoiler

So the question anybody would have at this point, are the senior brothers still f*cking around? Yes, ffs, unfortunately, the bastards are alive and well, except one, should I say who... But at least the master's as good as done at this point, I don't think we'll see him again, I'll tell you later why.

Plot wise, oolala, it is just getting so good, like I thought it was going to reach its peak a lot of times, but it keeps getting better. Let me explain, so, it started off, with the cultivation world, we learn that it's just one of the 3000 worlds among them, or planets, so there are small planets, middle planets, and high planets, so cultivation world is just one small planet, and somebody is plotting to steal its spiritual energy and also cut off the heavenly ladder, leading to the other planets, so there have been no ascenders for a thousand years. So this was the main problem to solve for MC, also had to identify the perpetrators, why, what it has to do with her and her sect mates, most importantly how to save this planet.

So she goes through a lot of power-ups, she meets a lot of friends, people sharing the same goal, I really love most characters here, it really builds up the unity amongst the folk from the cultivation world, for once, the righteous sects are actually honorable and are willing to compromise. It was really nice to see, it wasn't just a one-woman show, even if she was the main catalyst of everything, she managed to go that far because people cooperated. So finally, she found a way to connect to a small dimension managed by a half-immortal from the higher planets to scout disciples for her reincarnation dao, and there she got her approval, almost became her disciple but got intercepted by Ye Congxin, uh, fake white lotus psycho? So half-immortal got angered, and she opened a black hole for them or something like that, that swept MC and lotus in, she also found that the ex-senior brothers #1, #3, #4, #5 had their path to reincarnation cut off (basically in their previous life they did this ritual that would allow them to keep their memories and go back in time, nothing to do with MC reincarnating btw) and found them interesting for study so she just pulled them in her sect, which is one of the biggest ones in the higher planets.

So through that black hole MC landed in a middle world, I won't even comment what happened here, but she did meet a lot of seniors who had ascended ages ago from cultivation world and had formed their own band, this was also a very nice plot, these old folks were also trying to find ways to repair the ladder of the cultivation world, but the coordinates were impossible to find in the middle worlds, so MC had to go the tournament that happened every 500 years where sects from higher planets, selected disciples from middle planets, so MC obviously went in, total chad, along the way she had made enemies of almost every high power of the middle worlds. It was pretty comedic, everybody wanted to kill her, they actually fought amongst them who got to kill her first.

Did I mention? At this tournament we met the fake white lotus evil b*tch, who shred the white lotus disguise, upgraded to a pure psycho bit*h inside and out, she had also powered up, but minor villain really, I mean at this point, I kind of appreciated her presence, a very nostalgic villain, the only one there from the beginning : ((battle tactics-wise she also upgraded, she's still cheating her way through though mostly). Anywaaay, MC still excelled, basically breezed through the tournament, since in the middle worlds she had gotten a lot of skills. She got the attention of the Old Imp, the great elder of the Shangqing Palace, he wanted her to succeed as the Young Palace Master, because, she was just excellent.

But MC thought that that half-immortal would definitely have the coordinates of her cultivation world, so she refused, and became a disciple of the half-immortal's palace who was away at the time. But that Old Imp, really wanted her as the successor, his palace was rotting inside out and they needed a huge talent to save it, so he baited her through something that would raise her cultivation realm, he'd give it to her if she managed to master his palace's cultivation technique in three months, MC figured it's a good offer, she won the bet, but she was kidnapped after succeeding LMAO

The trick was that nobody in centuries had managed to master that cultivation technique and it was like the heirloom of the palace, plus with the current Palace Master dying (Old Imp's grandson), it was an urgent situation. Anyway, through this and that, she finally agreed as long as they saved the cultivation world. Palace Master pulled in an old favor from one of the important disciples of the mysterious fortune island sect, which has to do with Ye Congxin's system power, that fortune disciple, Langya, was his name? He was told what was up with Ye Congxin, so he went to kill her, but she managed to escape through another black hole. At this point, we learn that yes, the cultivation technique Ye Congxin uses has to do with fortune island, but it is something made by a banished disciple, who was siphoning away many small worlds' fortune for his benefit, first isolating them from heavenly dao rules, also cutting that heavenly ladder and then just using the fortune stealing technique to reap them to extinction. Ye Congxin's system, was one person of the small worlds (modern world surprise surprise), who somehow got a soul fragment from that banished disciple and merged with it and became a system-like parasite existence to Ye Congxin.

Langya and MC finally found the cultivation world on the brink of extinction, a large showdown between the sects and that banished disciple from fortune island going on, intervened and managed to save most people. Langya killed that banished disciple (though he was just one of the clones, so the guy is not completely dead) and gave resources to repair the cultivation world. Cheers! MC reunited with her pals, had a drink, then had to go back to the upper worlds to pay her dues and become the young palace master. Before she left, ex-Master went to grovel for a bit, this guy had actually helped quite a lot in the defense of the cultivation world, he's pretty powerful in that world after all, he said to MC he's going to self-isolation for a thousand years to repent for his mistakes, which is extremely sensible of him, does he deserve forgiveness? Not from MC in my opinion, and definitely not from the person she had been born out of, (oh the story was that MC was originally a spiritual jade with sentience, cared for by this woman, who was ex-Master's younger sister, she was trying to reunite with her family for centuries, but was assassinated by an evil cultivator, whilst dying, she had saved MC and also entrusted her with the wish to find her family, thus MC was born in her visage as a human baby, and it's also the reason she was so attached to the people in her previous life, this, was really tragic.)

Ah, back to the story, senior brother #2 before was in an extremely pathetic state, so he had made a deal with that fortune island banished disciple, and became his tool against the cultivation world. He was executed by the ex-Master personally after finding out.

Now back to the upper worlds, everything seems good, future's bright, boom, the half-immortal finally read the news, she went to the Shangqing Palace to take the disciple she took a liking to back. Rejected by MC, she becomes outraged, basically promises revenge. And booya, Shangqing Palace made an enemy of that entire Northwest Palace (that's the name I reckon), which is a huge sect, one of the strongest. And this is the biggest challenge for now.

Now some personal opinions, in the earlier chapters, I was extremely annoyed by the senior disciples' presence, and even later on, I was still asking why they still are alive, it's like they put every attribute point in luck and left the rest empty. But I'm not that annoyed anymore, the one most offensive to my eyes used to be ex-Master, that guy did get his bit of retribution, plus thankfully, whilst he had the most potential for being a nuisance, he stopped being one. The other senior brothers, I also think they'll get their retribution, senior brother #2 is done, and senior brother #5 or #3 (the half-dragon dude) later on, is also basically done, and that was awesome to see, the rest of them are less severe, they can even all be spared as long as they don't interact with MC. It'd be the better development for MC too.

OH! Adding another spoiler here because I read a comment about the little dragon Bai Ran, yeah, forget it, that dragon is a child, like 5-year-old child, no. It's mostly childcare for him, recent addition btw, MC took him out of cultivation world because he was dying there, and brought him to the territory of the Ice Dragons, he healed there, and then there was this dragon challenge event, where young dragons went to unlock their bloodline basically and become true dragons. MC and Bai Ran, Ran there (haha.. you know what, I'm not backspacing, caffeine really hit me this time). This is where they met the half-dragon senior brother whose luck is still unreal, he got picked up by another dragon race to compete. But, of course he was extremely incompetent in character, he managed to enrage the dragon examiner by insulting the dragons, and he reaped what he sowed, he was stripped of his dragon bloodline, becoming normal human. 10/10 ending for this little f... This guy should have been gone from day 1.

And um, just to clarify, no sign of potential MLs, I think the guys from the cultivation world, the leopard and the sword guy were the closest thing we had and I don't think they have a chance, I feel like MC looks at them like they're young fledglings, plus they don't appear outside the cultivation world. There are not even any new fanboys, MC mostly hangs out with elders, and terrifies her peers, so... personally I really dig this style, it's very fun.

[collapse]

There are so many more details, so many more characters, so much stuff happening. I can't analyze everything, but this is the gist of the most important spoilers. It's really good, I count on it having at least 200 more chapters, and since it's xianxia the potential for development is long. <<less

Ok, maybe this is too early for review, but I can't help it. The one and only thing that bugs me the most is about how incosistence mc's heartlessness is.

Spoiler

She cultivate a technique to kill her emotion and became heartless.

[collapse]

The narrative exactly shown her rich emotion which was hidden under her 'calm' nature. At least, could the author hinting that she's acting or faking her emotion? It will bring more clarity.

Spoiler

aspect of her cultivation as an illusion is good, I love that. I hope author use that well.

It's like reading martial world or something close to it. It started interesting but it quickly devolved into the usual collecting elixirs material, refining materials... Etc some people like this, I don't and it seems like the plot will evolve in a predictable way until the end... Which will happen with 75% filler of going into hidden realms and gathering rare ginseng.

I know that xianxia etc is a well known gente but it felt like this story would focus more on the characters instead of the other stuff.

As a xianxia,... more>> I feel like the use of illusion techniques don't bring too much to the ruthless theme she's going for. I thought she'd be like the crazy chick wuxia novel but so far she's only killed one person and it was a stealth kill. How is that ruthless?

I believe the novel might be enjoyable for other readers but as for me, I'll keep searching for stuff like Jiang hu's road is curved instead. <<less
