After Being Tricked into Marriage by My Ex [Transmigration]

Cen Jing wakes up to find himself in a Bad Ending danmei novel titled “I Hope I Will be More Like Him in The Next Life”. In this top-notch dog-blood novel, He Cidong is the scumbag, and he—Cen Jing—is the devoted licking dog.

In the original novel, He Cidong has a white moonlight. He uses Cen Jing as a stand-in for his white moonlight, but they break up. And after the twists and turns, He Cidong ends up marrying Cen Jing for the sake of his white moonlight.

On their wedding night, He Cidong brings his white moonlight into their home. For three years, their relationship is akin to a sugar daddy situation, with He Cidong only satisfying his physical needs without showing any affection.

Despite being heartbroken and in pain, Cen Jing’s love for He Cidong remains unwavering, as if cursed (smiling.jpg)

However, the Cen Jing who transmigrated is also an elite with a high social status. Wearing gold-framed glasses, he’s indifferent to love. Since he’s already married to the scumbag, he splits the marital assets and invests wisely, flourishing into a figure envied and resented by He Cidong’s numerous admirers.

One day, the scumbag corners him at the door, coldly asking, “Out on another fling?”

Cen Jing smiles lightly: “Yes, I’m lending you the Simmons bed in the wedding room. After you’re done, remember to change the sheets. I have a cleanliness obsession, thanks.”

Three hours later, the scumbag gets up from the bed, snuffs out a cigarette in the ashtray on the bedside table, and says without looking back, “This bed suits you. Change the sheets yourself.”

Cen Jing’s elite image collapses completely. He throws a pillow at him: “Get lost!”

Billionaire scumbag who’s a real big shot gong x Elite, handsome, cold, and sharp-tongued gentleman shou.

Note:

1. The scumbag is not truly a scumbag.

2. Set in a background where same-s*x marriage is widely accepted.

3. The synopsis may not be entirely accurate.

4. Beware of heavy angst, violence and potentially triggering situations.

MC is the best, he's so cool and honestly such a treat to watch. Read this book for him only.

About ML, I didn't like him, but didn't dislike him either. I understood where he was coming from but MC deserves better, so much better.

Lastly, that white moonlight (shouldn't call him white moonlight tbh) I wanted him to suffer more, felt like it wasn't enough. Specially because he made MC suffer a lot.

[collapse]

I would like to say that this story isn't heavy on romance, and might feel like the romance (whatever little romance there is) forced, so those looking for romance--don't read it. You might be disappointed.

Also for the obsessive love tag, ML is not obsessed, save your time and read something else if you're looking for obsessive gong.

But overall I liked the story. <<less

Don't be discourage by the low rating. It's definitely not for the weak hearts cuz it's not cinnamon and sugar but the progress, excellent translation and characters slash MC will make you stay to read it until the end.

MC is one of the baddest and coolest person all throughout the story, with his consistent, reasonable and logical thinking, you'll be drawn in his impressive character. He's been through so much, you'll def ache for him, cried and consistently take his side. Ily Cen Jing.

ML although cold-hearted, ruthless and emotionless, I'd... more>> applause his loyalty and commitment once he does white moonlight part enfuriates me. He may be a scum but he's not the scummest of them all, a coward though, for being unreasonable and unfair. ML is not lovable but he can give the care, freedom and love on our big fighter MC so them ending up together is not all that bad.

It's a good, fun, thrilling and short read. Will def reread when I'm in the mood. Lol <<less

Before I begin, I'd like to say that this book is translated fantastically. It is honestly one of the best translations I've read, and all props go to the translator to their talent and hard work, and the problems I find with the novel do not reflect on the translator, who is GOAT at translating 😎

Now, onto the review.

I almost finished with the novel before I dropped it. After this point, all I can say is that these two characters are NOT a good match at all. The problem really... more>> doesn't lay with the MC. The ML is someone who believes that his decisions are right with no wiggle room regarding the MC. The MC by nature is an extremely strong character, with a concrete sense of identity, self-driven, decisive and determined, who will not accept being controlled by others. The MC is also very good at communicating his feelings and thoughts explicitly, but the ML is someone who does not take anyone's thoughts into consideration besides his own. In this way, the MC's character construction is completely wasted on this guy.

Now, onto the overwhelming power provided to the ML by the author. Because obviously, the author couldn't think of a way to keep these two opposing characters interacting without it. The ML consistently uses his power leverage to force the MC into situations he has to dig himself out of, and to keep himself close to the MC when he is clearly trying to distance himself. Essentially, it's like pairing a person with a sentient cage. It's actually quite cruel, particularly with how true to his character and emotionally realistic the MC is depicted throughout. After the
Spoiler

world is reset, and the relationship between these two was irreparably broken,

[collapse]
after the MC is thrown into the sea by the ML's enemy (a situation the ML holds partial responsibility for), assumed dead by everyone and wakes up in terminal condition in a costal town, he starts making new friends, recuperating and living life away from ML. Then, the ML arrives, follows the MC like a stalker despite being told very clearly to stay away and not associate with him, and then almost immediately kidnaps the MC 'for his own health' because 'the costal resort isn't a good place for him to heal.'...

He takes him back to his residence, which forces him to relive his trauma from being there in the past, and forces him to have constant contact with the ML who he clearly wishes to never see again. ML knew the MC would never willingly go with him, so he once again uses force to fulfill his desire to be close to the MC under the self-deceiving excuse of everything being 'for his own good.' The MC very explicitly expresses his anger, his firm stance on the situation, even sort of explaining his own personality to the ML—why this action would never be acceptable to him—in case, you know, the ML was misunderstanding. The ML's response to the MC clearly reinforced boundary that had been trampled on repeatedly? The ML kisses him without his consent. Because, in his mind, this will 'placate' the MC. Because the 'knows the MC better than he knows himself.' Ugh. Ngl, this kidnapping thing made me faintly nauseous.

I haven't finished the book. I don't want to read the MC's admirable personality breaking down in the face of his boundaries being repeatedly trampled and his will overtly ignored, all in the name of a 'HE.' In all honesty, I think ending the book this way is more cruel than a 'BE.' <<less

The ML IS a scumbag, he lacks empathy, tho clear about debts and favors, but the way he deals with things arent dif from a retired mafia boss or a true scum (always in control, the MC wants freedom but thats 200% an illusion, which is disappointing). He slowly starts to feel more things later, but it doenst change the fact his way to do things will make u curse him to the high heavens and back. His trauma does not justify many of the things he does, its like... more>> wanting to eat from a plate and also the pot even if his plate is full.

Spoiler

Does he ever lead the white moonlight to love? No, he clearly told him "i cannot reciprocate your feelings, but I will support u for life as the most important", he doesnt correct the rumors either and treats him like his reverse scale due to a life debt. The way he handles things is justified as "since this person did this for me as a kid, I will cover, care and nobody else will ever be important", to the mentally unstable fake lotus of a white moonlight, it gives a sense of entitlement over He Cidong thats NOT healthy, and he is VERY MUCH AWARE of this. Dude, send the man to THERAPY instead of giving him all wants. He knows clearly why its happening, but what does he do? enabling the person still, if u rly feel like paying him back the life debt, u are really failing, dude.

He can pretend to be super righteous but he still has a video of former Cen Jing suffering aphrodisiacs while being filmed BY A GROUP of people that HE INSTRUCTED and USES AS BLACKMAIL MATERIAL because he "hates for people and things to be out of his control". What is this is not being a scumbag? The original Cen Jing is no saint but nobody deserves that kind of treatment. At least the man should admit he is NOT a good person instead of calling out Cen Jing for previous incidents like he isn't even worse.

Does he slowly change? Yeah, but at least where I am they arent fit to be in any type of relationship besides business because they arent equals, the man still has the video, still controls Cen Jing's company and still makes demands. I'm hoping he doesn't back down from the already pre-signed divorce (that the so called past lawyer Cen Jin did not get a copy off? Author, if u write someone as a genius lawyer, getting copies of documents is BASIC, be consistent, author) and they clearly cut ties, so if they start to court properly is with NONE of this baggage still hanging and as equals. So yeah the man IS A SCUMBAG, even a friend calls him out on it.

At least, when Cen Jing gets implicated due to He Cidong, he takes responsibility and, as I said, he is slowly starting to change. Even Cen Jing, as He Cidong is right now with his not hot nor cold attitude with the white moonlight and all the things going on, says: He might be hot and talented, but the current him is not fit to be considered a lover nor even a one night stand partner, its too troublesome.

[collapse]

One thing this author has an issue with is consistency, Cen Jing is written as a witty, intelligent genius lawyer, that could read people in courtroom and make them cry for their moms
Spoiler

but he doesn't get copy of the divorce papers (thats law 101, and as a lawyer I was scratching my head and wondering why he didn't ask for the papers at all, it broke immersion as fast as a needle puncturing a balloon because that's something BASIC and I see it coming to bite his ass later) ; he is incapable of saying no to a cup of wine (and not for the first time, so him not rejecting them due to "social ques" falls flat when even his friends tell him "why didnt u say anything about the doctor's prohibitions on alcohol?", the supposedly smart genius lawyer with amazing wit) that very obviously has issues when having a perfect excuse to reject it while a FAMOUS pe*vert is looking at him like some pastry to eat while he did (pe*vert he knew what reputation followed him and what he over all did to people) ; or when people asking to board cars that he obviously doesn't want to board and says "he has no choice but to board this car", yeah U DO, he clearly knew he was not forced to go to his father's bday, nobody pointed a gun at him and by then he had enough power to say "f*ck you" to the og!Cen Jing's family, not going would never have repercussions during business either and with the whole China knowing how that family treat him, it was impossible to be accused of being unfilial

[collapse]
. So his IQ drops when convenient for the ML to go to the rescue, not always tho, but it still feels forced and the suspension of disbelief gets broken because he WAS written as being better than that.

Premise is not bad, but the main characters and the premise sold is like telling me "this mint ice cream" when its clearly chocolate. Author, readers aren't dumb. Is the ML scum? yeah, not the scummiest ive seen but he still CAN be classified as scum, irredeemable? no, he has hope. Is the MC smart? yeah, but at crucial times it falls flat due to plot needing him to all of the sudden forget to use his supposedly good brain. Nobody asks for a perfect guy, everybody makes mistakes, but do not sell me a premise for it to be ignored when the author needs it in a way that u can tell a MILE away is forced and feels unnatural, that's just shoddy writing. I could give more stars, but this inconsistency in the characters themselves left me like "ugh why". I feel like unleashing my inner cucumber bro, a hater that still reads it and still likes it even with all its flaws... In short, its not a novel for the ages at all, but its good enough to pass the time if you are bored. <<less

This novel ain't for the soft hearted.

We all love that kind of ML who loves and dotes only on the MC but what most people doesn't realize is that it's not always love at first sight.

Everyone loves a cold, smart and intimidating man until you realize that you're not THAT MAN'S soft spot.

And that's what this novel is about. I also think that's why most people hate the ML because seriously, he sucks. He didn't love the MC since chap 1. 🤣
Spoiler

People tend to forget that smart people especially those in business industry are ruthless. And their heartlessness doesn't stop from it just being a word. They make you feel it. They'll use you and they'll throw you, just like the simple employee that you are. You have to be worth it to be considered special.

It's illogical to consider the ML an as*hole when he was just being himself. You can't ask for smart and intimidating but not wanting that character to be harsh and neglectful towards those he considers unimportant.

Utter disappointment.

Listen, I love my share of toxic love and I do enjoy reading dark stories -- when they're self-aware and not pretending to be a romance.

The problem for me is that the author writes and advertises this as "normal" and expects me to gush and fangirl over a couple with absolutely 0 chemistry whatsoever beyond surface-level s*xual attraction, with a braindead and emotionally-ret*rded love interest that forces his will as "love".

I'm not a stranger to the wife-chasing crematorium or the "scumbag redemption" trope but NOTHING about the way this... more>> love interest was written made me care about him. I wasn't even satisfied by the "scum ab*se" because it was done so half-heartedly. I was so desperately hoping that the author would make me like him, but there was nothing that redeemed him in my eyes. His personality is more boring than watching paint dry, his backstory and every single cliche "domineering CEO" line of dialogue that came out of his stinky soggy mouth made me roll my eyes to the back of my f*cking ass. I hated him from the start and I hated him even more with every line I read in this novel.

Spoiler

literally there was a scene where MC was drugged and about to be SA-ed. His condition at the time was rlly bad and had to be hospitalized, and ofc our dear ML who wants nothing more than the wellbeing of our MC then proceeds to forcefully manhandle him despite being told numerous times to stay away and give him space. He did this RIGHT AFTER MC almost got SA-ed? Like, wow, how caring of ML to reinforce that trauma into MC!!!

[collapse]

The way the author writes several scenes following an extremely uncomfortable "romance" moment between MC and ML is so obviously forced, especially the latter parts of the novel. Like seriously how do you have the audacity to put the "romance" tag on this thing? How dare you mislead and gaslight me by saying that "the scumbag ML isn't really a scumbag"? Hello? This is false advertising. I'll get MC to sue you for causing me mental distress.

Don't get me wrong. The writing and translation of this novel in general is very good. In fact, the saving grace of this whole novel is the main protagonist. In lieu of him, I mercifully still gave this thing a 1 star. MC is an absolute delight. He's the only reason I kept reading. He's assertive, strong, kind to the people who deserve it and merciless to the people who mess with him. UNFORTUNATELY he was caught by the massive web called "plot" and the leech called "He Cidong" who somehow ended up
Spoiler

getting a "happy ending" with MC like how the hell is this real?

[collapse]

Anyways, the point is I would not have been this pissed off if only the author had tagged and wrote the description properly. Like, if you want to write a toxic ML, go crazy girl, but PLEASE for dear god don't go back on your own vision and write crazy sh*t like "the scumbag ML is not really a scumbag".

I mean, what's wrong with having a scumbag ML? Be proud of him. You should advertise that to its max. So many of my fellow readers eat that sh*t up. So why play it low? Why the gaslighting? Why trick me? Why? <<less

Happy Ending

[collapse]

My first impression and sentence I said aloud after reading the last chapter was “That was so bad.” Not the worst thing I’ve ever read, but wow so underwhelming in everything.

This novel has all the cliches: white moonlight, green tea white lotus, arranged/fake marriage, social media and reactions as PR, cheats for both the ML and MC, drugs (multiple times), attempted SA, brake tampering, more and more accidents, way too many hospital scenes, mental illness perceptions, etc.

I can go on and on, but it’s really a let’s see how many tropes we can fit in this one novel. I was looking for the ML to be facrslapped but he barely suffered. And all the negative perceptions and humiliation MC faces? He says he doesn’t care but yeah okay. MC is also supposed to be this amazing lawyer who doesn’t need anyone else but we barely see that. He still needs ML’s help for everything (except the violent scenes).

The plot twist
Spoiler

with the world memory erasing and reset

[collapse]
was not done well. I was really frustrated because it had potential to be better, but it was just used to get rid of the villain by dumbing him down and finally doing something to make MC retaliate.

I was also eagerly expecting a wife-chasing crematorium, but it failed to meet my expectations. MC gives in way too quickly, and even the side characters were not really developed. Also, the other reviewers were not kidding when they said MC ends up in the hospital for like half of the novel lmao. That ending
Spoiler

where MC ends up once again in the hospital and it ends abruptly with him being discharged and leaving with ML who was waiting while it’s a third person POV of them??

What even was that ending.

Tl;dr: You will not get any satisfaction reading this. Please save yourself some trouble. <<less

This is the first novel I have ever read where MC is in the hospital for 45% of the novel. Well, technically, MC should be a ghost at this point by the sheer number of times he died (three times? More or less)

It's interesting in the beginning because a lawyer transmigrates (in the hospital), and as a cool and handsome man takes care of thing. Love blooms between MC and ML (he's tsun tsun, so can't say shit), and then surprise surprise the world falls apart and memory restarts... more>> after an accident and MC ends up in the hospital again. I liked the plot, setting, characters yadayada, but I really wanted there to be more expressive dialogue between the ML and MC. Sometimes the cliche "I love you" does send a message, you know, which didn't happen here. And bruh no between the sheet scene, no blackout scene, things have been maddeningly PLATONIC because that's how bad MC's health is. I was really hoping for extras with steamy scenes, but gave up.

Anyway, all in all, it's a good read. <<less

Despite the negative reviews I actually really liked this story. It kept me entertained the entire time and I read it in one sitting. The MC's personality is too cool lol. I personally liked the ML. I would say he's not innocent, but he's not as bad as people said he was. It could be because I'm pretty tolerant and have read several other story's where the ML is a full on red flag yandere, resorting to crazy actions, so this ML to me is very tame. He would be... more>> a lil red flag because he's not a full green flag, he's a mixture of both good and bad.

The beginning of their relationship is obviously not good since the body MC transmigrated into did bad things to several people including ML.

Spoiler

The reason ML hated the original body was because the original drugged him and also tried to force him into marriage. Which I thought was understandable. He also took measures such as making a video of the s*xual incident that took place to use against the original in return.

[collapse]

For some reason people seemed to forget this fact and thought the ML was hostile for no reason. ML in the beginning was cold and rough. But he wasn't inhumane. He had bottom lines he wouldn't cross. Such as:

Spoiler

Even as his memory was erased and restarted back to his original hate for the original MC, he didn't approve of the things green tea did to him. Which was humiliate him by spreading that video mentioned before. The video was spread by Yao Wenyu, stolen by him early on even though ML deleted it. He also let go of MC despite personally witnessing MC retaliate by beating up the green tea, whom he thought he had to protect.

[collapse]

Reason for why ML defended the green tea and his feelings towards green tea/Yao Wenyu:

Spoiler

The green tea was the one who saved him in their childhood. (Which later was found out to be a lie and was actually MC). ML felt indebted to the person who supposedly saved his life and felt the need to repay it by protecting him. But he held no feelings of love whatsoever for the green tea. He always made that clear that he would never date the green tea.

[collapse]

Good things about ML:

Spoiler

ML fell for MC first. He did notice the moment MC seemed to start changing. He was mainly cold and distant towards MC in the beginning. He had saved MC once during the boat kidnapping incident and then another time near the end after MC fell off a slope on a mountain. He kicked like 3 people for MC. During the incident where MC was about to be SA by Ma Lintao, he helped MC and kicked Ma Lintao, then let MC have his revenge on the guy. He kicked another dude that had beat up MC during another kidnapping. And also kicked someone trying to seduce him by drugging him. He defended MC at times, going against his friend who tried to shove MC, and also threw another guy who tried to humiliate MC at a club. He sued multiple news companies for releasing the video content that humiliated MC. He also sent the green tea to a mental hospital to rot. He also executed/tortured the guy that almost killed MC. He also shielded MC when they got into a car accident due to the car being tampered with. He also invested in MC's company which helped him a lot with raising his company to a high level. He also held back for a super long time as he thought MC's health was priority, so he didn't sleep with MC until the very end. When MC was missing, ML had people search the ocean for days, also diving into the water to search for his body. He helped maintain MC's company and took care of MC's friend's family.

[collapse]

Now those were most of the good things ML did whenever it came to MC, and I didn't even list all of them.

Now onto the part people seem to hate him for:

Spoiler

Obviously people dislike him for his cold treatment in the beginning of the story. Such as protecting Yao Wenyu, talking rudely, not caring much about MC, and kicking MC out of the house (he gave him a new place and car too though) and initiating the divorce. This was all up to Chapter 12. The other part people dislike him for was near the ending, where he acted selfish. One person said they didn't like how ML ordered soup for MC not considering what MC wanted, even if he said it was because MC's body was unwell. He also did put sleeping pill into the cup of milk he gave to MC, in order to take him away and bring him back to the city.

[collapse]

Now the reason he did that:

Spoiler

He mainly did it because he knew MC was still not in good health and wanted to go back to the city where he could get him the best medical attention. He made MC stay at his house again and said he was free to come and go as he pleased, just that he had a curfew. He also made sure MC was seen by medical help, and made sure he took his medication, was watched over by the house caretaker. And got him a cat as well. ML brought over comforting faces such as MC's friends. He also gave the company back to MC, which he temporarily managed. MC was pretty obedient despite getting mad and arguing, he was shocked at himself by how comfortable he had gotten due to ML's careful treatment. ML was stubborn about making sure MC regained his health since MC constantly did not care about his own health throughout the entire story. ML said that no matter where or what MC decides to go or do after regaining his health and being able to leave, he'll always be here for him. MC didn't actually hate ML the entire story, their relationship was rocky at the start but MC and ML maintained a good partnership over time. Even as ML got drugged by someone, he told MC to quickly leave as he didn't want to touch MC in that state but MC was the one to go to him this time. Their relationship is slow burn and they really only get together at the end of the story, despite that I liked their relationship. It felt like rivals/enemies to lovers and were on equal levels. Both ruthless when it came to revenge and both respect the other's skills.

[collapse]

I really enjoyed this story. Though there are some questions I have, such as:

Spoiler

Zhong Zhiliang not being mentioned again in the ending. After the car accident incident, we never heard about MC's family who orchestrated the accident. Idk what punishment occurred but I think the author just forgot about them lmao. The whole memory loss and world changing incidents was confusing? Like only a select few had their memory wipe, which was the ML and some supporting characters. And then some events changed (like MC not being at the club at the break up of Yu Qian, ML not being in the car accident with him). But majority was exactly the same. It didn't explain how all this happened and how Yao Wenyu knew that would occur. It would have made more sense for everyone's memories to be wiped or that every incident changed- but the fact that only select ones changed, made it more confusing and too many things would not have added up. On the brighter side, I was happy that everyone had regained their memories by the end though.

Dont believe the author notes. ML is a scumbag tho not in a cheating kind of way. I was hoping that his character will grow on me but I just dislike him more and more. And when the MC became much amiable with him, I suddenly lost interest.

Not to mention, MC is fcking dumb despite being a supposed big shot lawyer:

Spoiler
    1. Early on, he and the ML sign a divorce agreement that will take effect a yr after. He just signs and doesnt even ask for his copy. No notarization, no witness. Nada. Idk if the divorce will happen. Didnt reach that part.
    1. MC drinks an aphrodisiac laced wine after being made to drink by his shitty family and a known lecher. He has a weak stomach and he knows he should not drink. But he just accepts the drink due to pressure (despite the personality of not giving a f*ck) and he almost got r*ped.
    1. MC tortured the pe*vert who almost r*ped him by literally going to a residence, torturing him personally, waiting until the guy had to be brought in an ambulance, before striking a cool pose removing his gloves and having his picture taken. Really? A lawyer committing a crime and letting himself caught in the crime scene? Deadass.
[collapse]

I cant deal with these two.

11/19/24

After dropping it at chp 24 I decided to pick it up again. Thank god I did. I ignored the things I wrote above and just enjoyed the story. I read spoilers abt the ML "locking" the MC up but if you decided to read until that part, u will understand it. Just waiting for the last chapters.

11/23/24

Finished it. Ending is a bit rushed and the conflict came out of nowhere to pull the 2 together. Anw not bad. I guess this is thr trick in reading through crematorium stories. If the leads get too annoyign just take a break and maybe with the help of time, they become a bit bearable. <<less

I don’t know what’s more miserable... transmigrating into a villain’s body where sh*t is being thrown at you from left & right OR the fact that even when you’re at the brink of death, the universe just won’t let you die.

Angst was in this novel & that was not in the cards for me. I read this blind. I read the summary thinking (presumptuously) that I knew what was going to happen. Some wife-chasing, face-slapping, dog-blood, contractual marriage sort of show. The amount of gut-punches, blood vomiting, psycho delusional people... more>> with a knife in their hands is beyond me. This was a crazy novel with an equally crazy couple. Scum personalities aside, the plot was already a wild ride.

I will not read this again... or maybe if I do want some angst, I’ll read some parts that I actually did somewhat enjoy. But what a rollercoaster of events & it would SUCK to be MC- let’s be real here. Even if He Cidong was the hottest man on earth, I REFUSE to go through what MC experienced. No thank you. <<less

Not bad, still don't particularly like the ML. Though it's nothing personal since I've never like the type of ML where they accidentally or not so accidentally harm the MC even if they repent later (especially if there's a little third, white moonlight, green tea, white lotus, etc beside the ML 😪😪)

And god damn, the MC should have died at the end by the amount of injuries he has. Why is this guy so unlucky? Always at the brink of death from time to time

I liked this story.

I agree with some of the other comments- about the MC and ML being incompatible and about how sometimes the MC’s intelligence is suspended to further the plot and about how MC really is a scumbag.

still I liked this story. Thank you translator for your time and effort.

Angsty type story, but a good coherent one, with an awesome MC and an exciting plot filled with action, revenge, mu*der, underground kingpins, scum villains, family drama and shady deals. Sometimes it did feel like I was watching an action movie :-)

Rest assured, ML is not a scum. From the start, the translator repeatedly assured readers that he isn't scum and I agree with translator. But his words and behaviour are scum-like at the beginning... leading readers to really hate him. His character setting as a ruthless and emotionless... more>> bastard is consistent throughout and come from his background and painful past as someone born and raised in the gutter. ML's character does improve as story progresses... so keep reading :-) For me, what really kept me reading was the awesome MC. He is such a strong character, in every aspect. It was worth reading just for him. <<less

2 stars for MC only. Actually if you read this novel as a tragedy it's quite good, in the sense that, this is how people get into toxic relationships in real life as well. MC is a strong and well-developed character (other than his lawyer background which did not contribute to his decisionmaking except being a deus ex machina one time) -- this is just the story of how life beats him down so much that even if the person who loves him is also controlling him and not treating... more>> him how he deserves to be treated (i.e. as an individual human being not a beloved pet), he's so tired and cynical that he starts to think things are good this way.

Unfortunately I think that the author intended this to be a happy ending so I can't rate it highly. In fact at the end, when
Spoiler

MC is dying yet again but decides that he can accept ML's proposal, I just felt so sad because it was like... he's almost died so many times, now he just wants to grab hold of whatever he can even if it's not everything he ever wanted.

[collapse]

If you are happy as long as the MC is happy, I think you will be fine reading this novel and probably even like it. But for me, this is a big downer and I can't recommend it. <<less

After reading the raws, I can only sigh 😮‍💨

I have read these type of genre many times before and time and time again I'll say, as long as the mc's happy and content with it then there's nothing much I can say or do other than heave a big sigh.

Spoiler

It is a wife chasing crematorium. And I won't say much about the plot bcuz I've only read the raws and there might be some stuff that's lost in translation.

However, people who want to read this should know what they're getting into and be mentally prepared. I wouldn't say it's a book that's worth crying for but I do think some part of the book is very infuriating.

There's this one part where the ML talk about how the MC stayed with him bcuz that's the last of his dignity (????), and how not everyone is like that and some people will leave because of their dignity and I'm like sir wth are you on about😑

👆It doesn't sound as infuriating when I'm paraphrasing it than when you actually read it in the novel!!! Sometimes I do wish the MC would just man up and leave the ml. But hey if this is the ending the MC choose for himself then sure why not...

There are a lot of bad reviews but I actually liked this novel.

MC is transmigrates into body of the ML's husband. Unfortunately this marriage was forced by some tricky way. So ML didn't really marry willingly so they don't have a nice relationship. MC's previous body owner was madly in love with ML.

ML is cold and a bit emotionless. He is a ruthless businessman What do u expect? He has a white moonlight but that moonlight is actually not a moonlight. He just keeps him and makes sure lives good... more>> out of graditude.

MC is soo likable. He is strong and Sharp tongued. Unfortunately this body of his in poor health.

Anyways their relationship at first is in negatives then becomes neutral then positive. But that white moonlight is hella annoying and pretty beatable. The world is also cruel and unbearable.

Gotta be honest side characters are good but don't have much spotlight. Of course except Ye Qian (Maybe write wrong) she is a Queen.

Probably the thing people are mad about ML is he couldn't decide and make a decisive decision. That white moonlight saved his life when he was a child so he didn't really want to make that memory unbearable but that b**ch is just waste of oxygen. He hurt MC.

Then like a joke even world was on his side.
Spoiler

World reset because MC doesn't follow the og novel and it becomes like nothing he did has happened. He's still at that timeline but everyone forgets him. Ofc except that b***h. MC has a pretty hard time. When I thought they were finally getting along well everting reset like wth. Anyways ML feels like something is off and his heart hurt but doesn't know the reason. When he realizes the reason a lot of things already happened. (Not much actually but still makes me forget it all haappened in that amount of time)

[collapse]

Anyways after all the struggles. ML nourishes and raises MC in the palm of his hand because like I said MC's health is fragile. They don't get remarried
Spoiler

untill last chapter I think but there is no wedding scene

[collapse]
I honestly would like to read a lot of extras of this because it was rough and hurtfull journey. That last 15-18 chapter made me pretty mad. Thank God we got a HE.

I still liked the emotions it conveyed and it made me emotionally unstable so I'm gonna give it 5* I don't recommend it if youre here for fluff or wanting to watch a business boss protect his lover or smt. He protects but mainly when he's aware of his feelings. For some people it might not worth the wait as it doesn't have extra chapters. <<less

This novel made me want to cry.

why must romance come at the expense of self love and common sense?

What kind of story ends with a happily ever after with an emotional ab*ser?

The ending made me sick to my stomach. I wish I never read this l, I feel so disconnected from this.

May a love like this never find me.

I don't know why the star voting thingy isn't moving anymore. I want to rate this novel a 4.5. A lot of plot twists, and so many turns I think I snapped my neck a bit. It's very cute, And HCD has a bit more growing in my opinion to do, but even if he doesn't, he's quite fine. The first ML I've read to violently lift their partner out of depression 😹😹

CJ is my ideal protagonist, cold, hot (yes), smart, a total badass without seeming too fake. He's sure... more>> of his strengths and knows his weaknesses and is able to analyze and come to a conclusion on everything that happens to him. He's such a cutie. To YQ, I really really hope she doesn't go back to the mud with that Jiang Chuan. I'm quite fed up of him and she deserves the best.

Thank you to sweetneko for this piece, and hope to read more of your translations! <<less

I just want to say that this is a page-turning story for me. Once I started the journey, I didn’t want to do anything else but keep moving forward until the end.

Some readers might not like the ML very much, especially at the beginning of the story. But what do we expect? It’s a wife-chasing story, so of course, there’s a scumbag in it.

Anyway, I enjoyed the overall story. However, I’m a bit disappointed that the MC ends up becoming a businessman. I mean, wasn’t he a lawyer in his... more>> past life? I expected him to continue as a lawyer, or maybe work as a legal consultant in Shidu, or something similar. I know it's kinda impossible since the original owner didn't have formal education in law. But I just hoped the MC would use more of his skills and abilities from his past life throughout the story.

But that’s it! That little detail didn't really affect my reading experience. Like I said, I really liked this story. I like the MC, the ML, and even their friends. And I’m also quite satisfied with the ending. <<less

Wife chasing I always love

Please give this a chance and you won't regret it at the end C is so strong surviving all that couldn't be easy

ML hmm honestly he was a jerk marriage is not a death sentence yes you are allowed to be mad that you got forced into it but still you can always get out so why be mean to the partner

... more>> Honesty if I was MC I'm never getting together with someone who treated me that way no matter the misunderstanding

In all it was a good read and I loved it BTW what is wrong with the villaine? Well I guess that is just how villains are <<less

I'll give this a good review, because honestly? I'm impressed by the author skills to make me dislike the ML and still root for him to get the MC 🫠

The MC is such a captivating character, I loved every bit of his thoughts and actions! My guy was destined (by the Rules) to walk a th**ny path but he still didn't give up and soooo badass! He's so cool! That's why I was always rooting for him to survive and be happy with whoever it is💖🥹

The beginning was really... rough.... more>> I wanted to drop but I was curious a out Cen Jing, so I persisted. And I'm glad I did. Because my first impression of ML was horrendous, even if the original owner was equally shitty.

I read the tags and I read the translator's warning, so I was aware I would mostly dislike ML and his red flags. But the thing is, I have bittersweet feelings for him; I can't count the amount of times I was upset and grateful for He Cidong's stubbornness and obsession for Cen Jing... I didn't want Cen Jing to die.

For me, HCD was also a victim from the Rules, so my disgusting for him is quite bearable. From the beginning till the end, his reforming was the most logical (imo), I really like it. I bewildered by his changes tbh, but it looked so natural at the same time (?). I don't know how to explain.

I really liked the side characters, they are so full of life even if their screen time is short.

And I hate hate hate hate

Spoiler

Yao Wenyu and Jiang Chuan.

YWY was the worst, total psycho b*tch, I didn't feel an ounce of pity for him. I was so glad Cen Jing beat the sh*t out of him ☺️ I wanted to stand up and applaud on the spot!

Jiang Chuan was the scumbag that couldn't reform even if he wanted. I'm glad the author didn't give him redemption until the end, even though his story with Yu Qian had a open end. She deserves better.

Like, he didn't even reflect about his wrongs, he was deadass waiting for her to come back LMAO what a narcissistic mf

[collapse]

I'm very very very grateful for the translators hardwork, I'm really happy and enjoyed it! 💖

**I do know the difference between reality and fiction. If you encounter a He Cidong or Jiang Chuan in real life: don't look, don't talk, just walk away. The probability of a red flag reforming in real life is low, almost inexistent. So don't gamble with your mental health, life and safety. It's not worth it. Trust me, I'm talking from experience.

Be safe out there, ladies and gentlemen and the unknown! 🫂💖 <<less
